AMAZING video, Susie!! I struggle every day and really appreciate you talking about challenges we all face and what you're had good results with. Keep making these incredible videos to share!! 😃
Thank you Kat! I stopped doing a lot of things that worked so well for me … including air drying & my hair hasn’t been the same until I went back to my old go-to routine. I did a Maui Moisture review lately & my hair just didn’t look anything like it used to… I decided to go back to air drying & my old products & my hair looks way better. If you have any video suggestions let me know.
Susie, I'd love to give you a full lineup to try but some of the products are a bit on the pricey side. I'd love to see what you think of them though! Let us know if that's something you'd try- is a lineup from a sub 🎀🤗
The thing I love about your hair videos is that they are as you said.. Practical.. AND they almost always also are applicable to wavies! I know my hair will never curl like yours, but every one of your tips I've tried has improved the overall look and health of my waves. 🙂
Thank you! A lot of my hair is actually wavy :) it’s a mixture of waves & curls. It doesn’t matter if your hair is wavy or curly it’s all about keeping your hair healthy & moisturized looking 💕💕💕
"3-5 business days to dry" So true!! With thick, curly hair, it takes for-ev-er to dry! Thank you for sharing this. I have found that air drying is the best for my hair and have always been told it wasn't good and I should be blowdrying. But I found that to be frizz-inducing. I've always loved your channel and appreciate your no-nonsense, practical advice and realistic approach to curly hair care for busy people. So glad you're sharing new videos again!
Very helpful video! I always read all the comments. New to wearing curly, wavy hair. I air dry in attempt to fix 17 years with of flat ironing damage. Starting to appreciate my hair as it is.
I always air dry my hair and use Biotera for styling plus another favourite and although kind of happy with the results, my hair would still get dry/frizzy fairly soon after styling. However, after watching your video dated Sept. 28 2021 where you mentioned CapraCadabra handmade goat soap I thought I would give it a try as I was getting so fed up with wasting money on bottle after bottle of shampoo/conditioner and throwing away so much plastic. Well that small segment on the video has completely transformed my life and daily struggle with my ‘free spirited curly hair’. I purchased the soap and conditioner straight after watching your video and since using, it has absolutely changed the texture of my hair to the point even my hairdresser is ‘blown away’ by the massive improvement and I actually receive frequent compliments at how great my curls look (never happened before). I finally love my hair (50+ years old 🤣) and I’m proud of my head of curls with a new soft, shiny and manageable dimension. I cannot recommend this small independent business’ products enough … and I live in Ireland where the climate is not easy on curly hair! Thank you Susie for sharing 🥰
Thanks, Karen has been really helpful and added shipping to Ireland as my first order had to do a lot of travelling! Lovely to see you’re making more videos again Susie ❤️
I’ve been letting my hair air dry lately and using tiny claw clips to hold my hair in place. I love the results! A lot less frizz and better curl formation. If it’s windy outside, the clips help hold your style in place too!😌
I too have short hair with wavy/curly hair; I use the claw clips for volume and to keep my hair in place; I allow my hair to air dry on certain days after refreshing with hydrating my hair, using a leave in conditioner, scrunching and allowing to air dry, fluffing my hair, massaging my scalp (doing with my head flipped over); results are full and my curl pattern looks like it did when I was younger. I am 73 years old and returned to my curly hair pattern about a year ago.
I appreciate Suzi's pointers. ⚘️❤️⚘️❤️ For myself, I apply product to my dripping. flipped hair before i get out of the shower, then plopping it. After I'm out of the shower, I do my facial routine. Then I take my hair out of fiber towel, still with my hair flipped, I will dampen my ends to a drip and reapply a little more product to ends or wherever I feel it needs it. Then I let my hair fall naturally and apply a little more product. It made a huge difference in my curls when I naturally dry them. I use Rizo Curls, curl defining cream. my hair type is oily. With my type hair, never apply at roots. I use to have to wash it every day but as I got older, every other day. PS: No crunch curls at all. My curls are soft. God bless. 🙏🏼♾️🕊 John 3:16-20 Ephesians 6:12
Thank you for sharing your tips. I love your videos and your accent! I'm just recently getting back into curly hair after several years wearing it short and straight.
I am trying and trying, and I love your videos. I had all of my hair chopped off for decades, and am now letting it grow, it is still short, but I am determined to let it grow.
My hair loves the rain and snow! It gets fantastic when it's moist and wet outside! It gets super curly and when I arrive at work (in my country and city most people go by buss and subway, therefore can't avoid the rain much) it looks perfect. I love and embrace the rain and people think I'm crazy walking around without an umbrella. They prob think I've got fake curls like most people here (majority here have straight/-ish hair except the ones originated from forreign countries) and that it'll get ruined. We don't get very extreme weather though where the clouds empty bathtubs down on us often, just an ordinary calm weather, sometimes a bit windy but not too terrible, so my hair doesn't get totally soaked in the rain. Just the perfect amount of rainwater on it. I wish I had a spraybottle of rainwater to use everyday instead of regular water because my hair looks fantastic and people stare at me at work and on the way to work on those days (I'm an assistant nurse, or what it's called in english, btw). The guys at work can't keep their hands to themselves since the day I got curly hair, they find some ridiculous excuses to touch my hair or "help" me hold it up when I have to put it up at work haha. One guy esp almost moaned when he touched it for the first time and said like "Oh wow... so soft..." and I'm pretty sure he's a bit into me😅 And I have you to thank for all of this! If I hadn't found your channel years ago and realized I had curly hair and started the curly girl method, nothing of this would have happened! My hair has never looked this good in my life and I was born 1970! I'm so happy and grateful!😍
My hair NEEDS the humidity to keep the curls! I moved a couple years ago from a very humid climate to a more dry climate, and the curls fell away. I was so disappointed! Now it is ONLY curly on rainy days! I just focus on keeping it healthy and moisturized, rocking straighter hair on sunny days and curly hair on rainy days.
Great tips, Susie!! Your hair looks fabulous as always! I need to air dry more. I end up air drying most of the way, diffusing on low for about 10 mins..currently have a long curly pixie, then I let it air dry the rest of the way. Works well for me but I can't wait to use your tips!! Love at you, beautiful! Xo
Love your videos. I always learn something new. Not only is your hair and skin beautiful but I need to make a shout out about your awesome looking biceps. Whatever workout routine you're doing must be good. You look great.
Thanks for another great video. Lately, I have been leaning towards air drying my curls, however; I always get the stringy strands. I will definitely purchase the Herbal Essence mousse and give it a try.
I always use the claw type clips in my hair when air drying and sometimes move them from side to side. If I'm home and my hair isn't quite dry, but I need some lift, I might blow dry a tiny bit which seems to give me some volume.....but normally, I don't need extra volume. This was a perfectly practical video for all of us curly and wavy girls.
You are such an inspiration! I have wavy hair with parts that can end up quite straight, which is why I always diffuse. I’ve never dared to air dry but I may just do that after hearing your ideas. At least I should do it now before the snow flies, right? 🇨🇦
I have curly hair and have used th wash and go method for years. The only time a diffuser is when I get it cut and styled. Thank you for sharing how you do your curly hair. Good tops.
Hi Susie, your videos helped me so much when I began this curly journey over a year ago, due to being so practical! Like you’ve said, it does take patience and trial and error. I have more “well, I don’t hate it” hair days now! 😆 Just keeping it honest. My question to you today is how do you address your bangs. Mine are finally ‘about’ as long as yours on this video. Do you clip them also? At this point my bangs definitely are the worst part. They are similar to how you have yours, but I am sure there may be a simpler way to get them to behave and stay to the side. Any hints or tips that you have will be greatly appreciated!! A Fan in Nevada USA. 💕
Susie; would you consider doing a video on hair cuts for curly/ wavy hair? Where layers should be added , how short? How many? I know you are very busy but if you have any suggestions would love them!
Your hair looks amazing and so healthy. Are you back to washing (with conditioner) daily? I remember in one video you said you thought your hair looked better when you washed it everyday, but I think in another you were stretching out your washes.
Hello Susie, thanks for the fab video, really useful info as usual. I was wondering if you or any of your subscribers have any tips and tricks for us curly girls who have very fine thin hair please? I would especially appreciate and advise on products as most products are too heavy for my hair. Thanks again for returning to UA-cam with this kind of content 😃
I have fine wavy/curly hair. Some of the things I do are not typical for other curly girls. In the shower, I use a wide tooth comb first to distribute conditioner & de-tangle. Then I use a fine tooth comb to distribute the conditioner. 😳 I rinse out almost all of the conditioner from my hair. 😱 Then I use a fine tooth comb to distribute other products like creme & gel. 😳 I plop while getting out of the shower. Then I carefully (or I end up with lots of frizz) microplop when I take my hair out of the plop. Sometimes I add mousse exactly how Susie recommends. Then I use claw clips when drying to help with volume & to keep it off my face so I don't touch my hair while it's airdrying.
Heya, I'm planning a vacation to Germany next year (we has planned to go in 2020, but that obviously didn't happen), can I ask what hair products you use? I've read a lot that wavy and curly hair women have trouble finding products in Germany for thier textures, but I know my German relatives all had curly hair so I don't understand how there aren't any products for us. Is it true? Or is there good stuff there?

I only ever air dry my curls(in fact I don't even own a blow dryer and I don't intend on buying one any time soon) I use claw clips for volume too because my hair is too long nor do I feel like fiddling around trying to arrange the root clips a certain way. How long does your hair stay in the plop before you remove the towel and apply the mousse? I have a few fave mousses that I want to incorporate into my airdry routine. Thanks for the tips!
I saw your videos years ago and have been using Biotera gel ever since and love but recently it's been unavailable everywhere. Do you have a similar product that you like?
Omg!! My mom use to say that too!! If her hair looked bad or had grown too long and she needed a hair cut she’d say her hair looked like a cat sucked on it. 😂😂
Hi Susie! I’m new to your channel and curly girl method. Just watched your plopping video. I’m confused as I thought it was best to apply product in the shower? Do we apply product after the plop? Thank you 😊
I always air dry because heat damages my hair if I do it alot. I only use a hot brush to straighten my hair once in awhile. I have not used the clips so I will definitely try that. And maybe a little mouse. I’m very minimal at hair stuff. Too much else to do in life.🤣🤣🤣
Herbal essences mousse was my ultimate for over a decade but I thought it was discontinued? Wondering if it’s only discontinued in Australia - in which case, I’m going to look into ordering a whole case of the stuff from the US 👀😭
Do you ever use hairspray? I’ve been using one by Bounce Curl that really holds well. It’s a strong hold but I don’t mind that because it holds my hair in place. It’s one with a trigger spray. If I don’t spray it my hair kind of flops later in the day.
My hair has absolutely changed since my 40s, and I noticed lot of very dry ends, nearly to the point of breakage, and if I brush my hair, I have a bee's nest. Just awful.
My hair is more wavy than curly, and my favourite thing is to plop and then go to bed with wet hair. It dries overnight with awesome volume and perfect clumps. I love it better than any way I might clip it to dry in the morning. I wonder, does anyone else do that?
I do the same thing. But it is unpredictable with the results. I think it depends on how I sleep. Do you sleep in the plop? I use an air dry bonnet I purchased years ago so my hair is loosely plopped in a mesh type bonnet. I sometimes clip my hair overnight too.
Hey Amanda!! I’m doing both I realized very quickly that I need to do something creative & that it’s the variety that makes me happy. I’m still doing my masters 💕
If he wants to do this, why doesn’t he just pick a different Go Fund Me each week to feature and pay off, and he could still talk about the problems with US healthcare. He could talk to people about their stories. I feel like some of the reason we don’t have universal healthcare is because so many Americans are main characters and just can’t imagine that other people really need things

Do you ever use hairspray? I’ve been using one by Bounce Curl that really holds well. It’s a strong hold but I don’t mind that because it holds my hair in place. It’s one with a trigger spray. If I don’t spray it my hair kind of flops later in the day.
I use Pantene alcohol free hair spray, which is also a strong hold.
@@simplycurlyde I used to use that one but I like the Bounce Curl better. But you have to buy it on line. It’s really good.
@@kates6793 Thanks, I'll have to look in to it.
I have NEVER used hairspray!!!
I’m going to try it now though 100%
@@jefferyhardy385 Hairspray not only dries the hair quicker, it about the only thing that will give me a cast & a strong hold.
So, ploping is done BEFORE product is applied?
After
THANK YOU
Dry in...*3-5 business days 😂 so right!
What kind of clips are those?
🙏🏻👍🏻
I always make sure I have hair oil and a scrunchy in my purse. Lol
Where did you get those claw clips?
Drug store … shoppers drug mart I think the brand is Goody
No, I actually just lay my head on the pillow with my hair pulled up towards the headboard, then I toss and turn all night. Wicked volume.
Thanks, we working women don't have time to do all of the fancy finger curling, etc. By the way, when Americans say herb the "h" is silent.
What products?
Curious...who came up with the word "ploping"?
Your momma
Where r u? Did u stop doing videos? It is April 2024. Do u have any new ones?
I just uploaded. I have a full time Job and I'm back in school ... but I'll do some UA-cam over the summer :)
Why apply products in the shower? Can't we step out and towel dry our body first?
Because
I thought you were leaving youtube to focus on your career? Im not mad that i get to watch more videos but is everything ok?
Hey Amanda!! I’m doing both
I realized very quickly that I need to do something creative & that it’s the variety that makes me happy. I’m still doing my masters 💕
@@CurlySusie amazing!
Duck bill clips? Nope. I have switched to medium style claw clips, and clip my roots up in 2 big chunks and my length in 2 chunks and call it a day.
I’m all about the claw clips!!
@@CurlySusie Yes! They're magic!
Three to five business days to dry my hair😅😂🤣
My mom says that! Cats sucking your hair lol (she’s 93)
lol good video the curly hair is predictable
If he wants to do this, why doesn’t he just pick a different Go Fund Me each week to feature and pay off, and he could still talk about the problems with US healthcare. He could talk to people about their stories. I feel like some of the reason we don’t have universal healthcare is because so many Americans are main characters and just can’t imagine that other people really need things
