Hey, thanks for the nice demo, I have this pedal - it’s really cool! By the way, the bass and treble knobs do not affect the reverb sound but only the echo, thumbs up so others can see.
The Bass and Treble controls adjust the tone of the repeats as well. You can make it darker then a carbon copy or brighter than a DD-3 - it does not just control the tone of the reverb as said in this, and most videos. I don't touch the reverb on this unit - but use the treble and bass controls all the time to color my delay. I consider this a huge selling point for the pedal.

Little Brother I met you briefly at the NAMM Show couple years ago but I didn't get the chance to tell you that I love you're playing ~ Most Especially when demoing the Delay & Reverb effects .. I've been playing since I was 9 and I just celebrated my 65th BDay .. still playing loud n proud, ballsy and pretty 😇 You & I sound almost identical when you play some of the stuff you play .. the thing is, it appears sometimes as if you're kinda doodling .. but it's naturally beautiful and melodic.. it's brilliant .. and honestly, we sound a lot alike 😇🤙

I first saw the original tape Echo in a studio in 83. So expensive then and now. When this came out I snapped it up. Great addition to my home studio.

Hey bud - you sold me big on the RE 201, and your comparison of the Boss. I opted for the boss, because of the presets - otherwise the tone of the RE201 sounds a bit more Rich and gooey!

hi! i am looking for a delay...I was planning on buying a Boss DD-7. But then I saw the Space Echo Re-20. I was wondering if the space echo can do the same as de DD-7 and also add extra features? Or for delay you should get DD-7 and for spacey stuff the RE-20? I mean, can I use the basic features of DD-7 on RE-20? (i don't mind the loop function on dd-7 as I already have a looper). Thanx for your time!

STILL one of the best sounding, sturdily built multi-pedals out there.
Multi? 'Analog', tape, dedicated tap tempo foot switch, not to mention the exp pedal, multi output options, 'reprogram ability' and prob a few more I forgot to mention.
Bit pricey, but worth it.
This and the DD-20 are the best band-for-the-buck delay pedals- period .
I feel like bang for your buck is pretty much guaranteed when theyre two of the most expensive delays out there.

got mine yesterday, it's amazing! it sounds way better than I expected. and it doesn't suck tone (at least in my set up) although it doesn't have true bypass. you can still tell it's digital, but the sounds comes VERY close to the original. the reverb sucks, tho.

Great for live stuff but I was sad to see they went the "clean and sterile" BBD route, unlike the EP-3 clone MXR did that allowed for dirt, wear and grit (which sounds killer in the studio). Looking to buy a great reverb unit. I am conflicted. Space Echo sound amazing as well as the Strymon Blue Sky. To more pedal savvy players. Which is better?
I have not personally played either, but Many players consider the blue sky to be the best reverb floor pedal. Boss often sounds too sterile and digital from the experience I've had with other pedals.

I've always wanted this pedal, then I ended up with some Strymon delays. This demo is so much better than the Boss demo, I'm wondering if I made the right decision. Comparison vid - El Capistan or Timeline v. Boss RE-20?

It sounds really good ,. But you have to realize that the amp has an amazing tone as well., still a great pedal tho don't take me wrong
And he's playing in stereo ....thru two amps that have amazing tone. I have a similar set up with a AC30 and Fender Super Reverb. Everything changes when you start playing in stereo...really opened my eyes and ears.

I just purchased the RE-20 Space Echo. I'm a trumpet player and need to plug in a microphone. I thought I'd be able to use an XLR to quarter inch adapter but it doesn't work. No signal. Do I need a pre amp?
You shouldn't need a pre-amp... Is your mic a condenser that needs phantom power? Maybe you got a bad adapter...
for some reason this pedal does not like balanced cables, I think. I tried to hook up a keyboard with balanced jacks, and it didn't work(at least I think they were balanced), but as soon as I used normal guitar cables, it worked like a charm. Try it.

Is this better than the different Memory Man pedals? What is the difference in this and Memory Man pedals?
Well in my own experience, I tried a Memory Man and sent it back because I didn't like it. I own a Space Echo and like it a lot more than the MM. They're 2 different types of delay, the Space Echo is a digital emulation of a tape delay, whereas the Memory Man is a bucket brigade delay (I think), and they're both different types of delay/echo.
The main thing I didn't like about the Memory Man was that you only get up to 600 milliseconds of delay time which isn't much more than a slapback type of delay, whereas the Space Echo gives you up to 6 seconds in its long mode, 3 seconds in normal mode.
It all depends what you want from a delay pedal, but if like me, you want to create ambient types of music then I would avoid the Memory Man if I were you. 👍
To my ear it came to life when you turned on some of the reverb, and cranked around the tone knobs. The first half of the demo sounded kind of dull for some reason. This pedal looks pretty good but the TC Electronic Alter Ego X4 seemingly gets you a whole lot more for the same money. Including a space echo setting. And a looper. I've been on the fence about tape echo emulations but I think I'm going to take a bet on the TC as my first move... Shnobel did a demo of that too I think it sounds better.
gayasthedayislong thanks for the reply I think I might have to give the RE-20 a try. I'm afraid the boutique options are a bit out of my price range. One thing the RE-20 clearly does more accurately than the Alter Ego X4 is the pitch-bending type self oscillation and time knob response, which is kind of a big part of the space echo experience to me. The Alter Ego doesn't really go there. It does a lot of other things really well, though.
you are somewhat wrong about the price. this one costs like 2/3 of the alter ego.
well, it's the opposite of that on the second hand market, which is where I do more of my shopping

Cool pedal, but I'm a bit perplexed why they didn't do a (fake, obviously) spring echo in there, given that's half the sound of the original.
beware, many units got a hummmmm-noise issue that haven't solved in years, erratic : depending on electric adapters, chains with othe pedals... search in google you'll see... which is bad because when it works without that horrible buzz, it's incredible. BUt I annot use it on stage due to this issue... shame

Matheus Barbosa There's a trick to get dotted 8ths. On settings 4 or 9, just double tap the tempo you're shooting for and that should be dotted 8ths.

johan valdez The Green backs are a little more bassier but the blues are more open sounding, either ones will sound great with a vox :)

You incorrectly identified #1 as a "multi-tap" delay (it's just a short single tap) then you skipped over the most interesting and tape-like settings using multiple heads, which actually ARE "multi-tap" delays.. I'm sorry, but you showed a lack of fundamental understanding of what a tape echo is, how it works and what makes it stand apart from a standard digital or analog delay.
Yeah I stopped watching about 5 minutes in. Very disappointing. How could he not tell it was a single tap delay the second he played it? And then AS SOON as he gets to the multi-tap delays he skips over them?

Love everything about this pedal but you're 100% right, the reverb blows. I just keep it turned off and use my Dr. Scientist or amp for verb.
