Amazing its got cleaned up that well - nice job guys. Just a tip for the surface mount caps, you can use the twist method to get them off without damaging the pads (Adrian Black of Adrian's Digital Basement) is a fan of this. You then just desolder the legs from the pads that sometimes remain on the board ;-)
Hi Steve! These Samsung drives are known for having trouble with opening properly. Mostly is just worn belt. For future, if you have trouble with opening drive, when it's just stuck, try to gently "knock" it from the top. I have four of these Xboxes, and one with Samsung drive acts like this, so i have to "slap" it to insert a disc :D Interestingly, if drive have a disc inside, then will open freely without any problems.

Those old XBOX's are notorious with always having bad disc drives.
Thanks for the content!👍
Yay! X-box video. I already watch rob's video. So...i know his pain. And now, i know steve's pain. Impressive job as always.
I can't believe you are sick💔 Haven't watched your videos in a while so i was shocked! I wish you all the best and may Allah reward you with good health once again.
Talented and strong dude! Never forget it! Impressive!
This board looked like it should go through an ultrasonic cleaner, or just dump the whole board in soapy water and start agitating with a soft brush.
THIS! I can't fathom the idea of working on a board with that amount of dirt (rust) on it😅
Nice video I love to watch you do these type of repairs
Thanks 👍
that board needs an ultrasonic clean, good work getting it working :)
The best thing I've learned from his videos is NEVER GIVE UP, KEEP TRYING. 😊
LOL, I always love your videos. This one had so many, "That's what she said!" moments.
I hope treatment and recovery are going well. You're an inspiration!
Hi
Man seeing that xbox start up and UI gives me some happy memories. ^^
this is my childhood. i loved my original xbox. the disc drive ended up dying on me but i wasnt skilled enough to try to repair it. im at the point now where i would love to try to fix my original but it is gone sadly.
Can you do an overview of your tools and stuff one video? Possibly a beginner guide for soldering?
Snagged a Pinecil iron and I love it. Your videos make me want to get back into soldering projects
Ur a tier S repairman you r needed everywhere man
Gutted you never used halo to test the new disc drive, hearing that start up would have been perfect
You are amazing sir, I really hope for you to get better soon. We need to see your videos.
Bro when I saw the thumbnail my heart dropped..Haven’t had one of your videos pop up in a minute..Algos taking me down a different route..I hope you’re doing good brother.💪🏻🙏
I wanted to see how you fixed the controller port. Also maybe try some small fixes on the disc driver. It didn't seem that bad. Maybe some cleaning on the lens or something like could help it.
I hope you are doing well now that you've beaten cancer, Steve!!! Great video as always!
I can not believe you fixed it. That was a lot of work
I really hope you are progressing positively. Health wise
Must be extremely satisfying just to get these things working back from the dead. So cool!
Cute voice crack
Yeah, my voice has been affected by the chemo. Getting better but still not 100% normal
@@Tronicsfix Oh no, hope it got not taken wrong with the voice crack thing too D: thats bad to hear, pls recover well steve, much love
Nope, not at all.
Hi Steve!
These Samsung drives are known for having trouble with opening properly. Mostly is just worn belt. For future, if you have trouble with opening drive, when it's just stuck, try to gently "knock" it from the top. I have four of these Xboxes, and one with Samsung drive acts like this, so i have to "slap" it to insert a disc :D
Interestingly, if drive have a disc inside, then will open freely without any problems.
I think that the ultrasonic bath cleaning can work out great with such a dirty board to clean it all out.
1) Watching your videos gives me confidence that I can also repair minor issues.
2) It’s great you have the strength to continue making videos. Continuing to put positive energy into the Universe for you.
3) Will this be appearing in a future WhatNot show? Or will this one be going into your personal collection? ;)
I hope you make it through, I'll always pray for your speedy recovery brother.
I really liked the sideways time lapse of cap changes.
Nice! I thought you would see the controller port too.. we would enjoy see you fixing that too
Nice job. This may be the video that gets our old xbox onto the workbench for a refresh.
