You have to watch more true crime documentaries because there are a lot of detectives who do the same thing. They devote years of their lives to solving a case and can finally let their emotions go.
@@moselleconger4156 I agree, most cases have a leading detective or other law enforcement that is pushing until they get justice for a victim. I’ve seen so many detectives cry talking about cases that will stick with them until the day they die. You always hear them comparing victims to their own kids and how they would feel if it happened to the own child or family.. that tends to be a driving force behind a lot of the determination for justice.
Seriously. That manager made a mistake. I work in a coffeeshop with mainly girls, and safety from stalkers is of the utmost importance. Evil men need to know their victims are worth standing up for.
I wanted to know more about Jackie but they focused so much on Caitlyn, you'd think she was Jackie herself. I understand her connection to the murderer. Still, they could have talked more about Jackie and her disappearance and her family.
Came here to say this. Feels wrong to talk more about what "could have happened" to one girl vs. What actually happened to jackie. Barely even gave a backstory.
But there was no story of Jackie and Charles...he found her one night and killed her the same night...Caitlyn had a series of interactions with him...would Jackie's mother know about Charles? Would there be a history of her trying to get away from him? Did Jackie have a bad feeling about Charles? The producers told everything about Jackie that had to do with the subject of the story (Charles)...
And that some of his friends approached her and say she "need to have those charges dropped"!! I recalled something similar of a MO of a british case, the stalking guy got a new gf to befriend the victim on facebook (he had claimed that the victim who was stalked him postedlies etc about him and his new gf to help him catch it!). People can be so gullible when the helping the stalker.
@@morganablackwater2017 So, guilty until proven innocent? Genius! I'm sure that every woman that reports a stalker will do so with the utmost truth and integrity. 🤣
It's also beyond creepy that he posted that weird message that looked like Jackie posted to her FB page about how she was head over heels or something -- he was putting words in her mouth after he KILLED her!?
I have a friend who went through something similar. She dated a guy for 2 months; he stalked her for the next 10 years. Didn't stop till her stalker died. If he were still alive today, I know, he'd still be stalking her. Absolute leach.
I'm in awe of her because she was able to see through his manipulation at her young age in less than 3 months! I commend her for that... ❤ It literally saved her life! And I also commend her mother for the wonderful upbringing. The trust and respect she gave her child really paid off, her daughter doesn't put up with the wild behavior of narcissistic men.
Serious kudos to Captain Polk. It’s really refreshing to see a police officer who wants nothing else but to help someone and who goes out of their way to serve and protect.
Refreshing ? What do you think cops do EVERY single day ! This is what they do. Such an ignorant comment. Learn more before you talk trash about cops on social media.
@@p.sherman3158 a minuscule amount of reported rapes, harassment and stalking cases are ever taken seriously because of officers. It is undeniable that Police forces all over the world are institutionally misogynistic, the UK's investigation of the MET police proved that, it is laughable to think the US isn't the same, if not worse.
There are good people, police and otherwise. It's just unfortunate that the police force is where dirt bags tend to work because the hiring process doesn't do enough to vet these people. Maybe hes a good guy, maybe he did it because she's pretty. It's not fair to assume though without other information. Either way, Caitlyn is probably alive because he cared enough to do his job the right way. That's hardly ever the case with stalking victims. They usually wind up dead.
I'd add one more Do Not to the list: DO NOT accept friend requests from strangers. No matter how many "mutual friends" you might have. Mutual friends??? Yeah right.....mutual friends are like 40th cousins....

Jackie's grandmother is so selfless. For her to come up to Katelyn's parents and say how worried she was for them that Bryant could be released one day. That takes a special compassion to overlook your own deep hurt and worry about another person's welfare like that. Both women had great families. Hope they don't release Bryant ever and hope Jackie's family gets closure and peace.
Oh yeah it’s because she’s a strong woman. You can have compassion for others, but not do what she did…it just means she’s a strong woman. Which is good to be
May I offer my sincere condolences to Jackie's family and Friends. May your daughter be your guardian angel so she can share every day, and be by your side.
It's rare to see so many caring cops. Watching so many of the 48 hrs episodes, they often bungle the cases, but some really good ones involved in this case, especially the campus police officer who listened to the young woman.
Exactly! He should’ve already been behind bars. If you can’t behave in normal society, you don’t get to live there. But no! Someone has to become a murderer before action is taken in almost all stalking cases! 🙄
I had one as well until I started open carrying. The last time he came at me and I drew on him, he ran. I haven't seen hide nor hair of him since. It's been 10 years and I still keep my protection on me at all times, even in my own house.
Kudos to Captain Polk. So many women go through harassment/stalking and find it very hard for officers to either believe the gravity of the threat or to be able to help them before the stalker actually hurt them. Lieutenant Polk (back them) took immediate action to protect Kaitlyn. He's the best!
Cops always say that "we don't have enough evidence to do anything, come back when you have more evidence".. usually the "more evidence" is her dead body.. they could just as well say "come back when you're dead"..
And of COURSE she never called the police!! He would have killed her...he said so many times. Its absolutely sickening. And the way the court system treats victims of DV IS HORRIFIC!!
(trigger warning) I had a step relative who became extremely mentally ill....like, mood swings, paranoia, auditory hallucinations, homicidal and suicidal ideation, everything. At one point, after being released from another hospital stay, temporary alternate living arrangements that HE had agreed to were made for him, because it was clearly not safe for him to live with his family at that time. When I was home alone one late morning, he showed up and shattered the whole doorframe trying to beat his way in. He then staked out the house from arr car and peeled out when a police cruiser showed up. The senior officer immediately began grilling us about what right we had to keep him "out of his home" without allowing us to explain any part of why we were doing so. He brow beat us and then left. It was so discouraging. Several hours later we called 911 again because after a whole afternoon of stalking and harassing calls he finally got inside the house and was midway through a ghastly suicide attempt that two of my relatives were physically wrestling with him to prevent. Fortunately the cops and EMTs that showed up that time were very compassionate and competent.
I’ve had a stalker. It honestly makes you start going insane. I started thinking he had put recording devices in my apartment. It went on for years. I think people were starting to get tired of me being upset about it. I was calling the police constantly
I know, and every time you hear a weird sound at night you think they’re doing something or trying to get in. It’s unbelievable, they’re intimidation terrorists. Cops didn’t care at all for me, so nice to see a cop care in this case. They’re not just stalking you they’re waging mental war

This is probably the only case where the authorities actually were proactive in protecting a stalking victim. The girl was just in the wrong place at the wrong time
Easy to say and post knowing some of the things that happen daily but there are good cops who can be trusted to help and befriend the public. I am not against you and what you posted.
Please do another show and focus on Jackie, she deserves to have her story told as well, that detective cried when he talked about attending her memorial that in itself shows you there was a lot you could have told us about the life she lived .. Balance was needed here...
You're being overly sensitive. Jackie does not need an essay about her life and nobody on these shows gets an episode devoted to their life. The story was essentially about Caitlyn. What her ex did to another woman when he couldn’t have Caitlin. I agree. It should have been about Jackie. Her family. Who she was.
How could her manager at the restaurant say “there’s nothing I can do.”about someone stalking on of their employees? You can refuse service to anyone for any reason.
Usually independent businesses would be more likely to help her out, but buffalo wild wings is a huge corporate chain so the dollar is going to come first sadly.
Caitlyn survived because she took the warning signs seriously early on. She didn’t gloss over them, didn’t make excuses for him, even if she liked the guy. She eventually proved herself right. Kudos to her mom, too, for being the great woman that she is. Caitlyn’s self-confidence and self-belief are very obvious to me. And because she loved herself, Caitlyn could think independently for herself and not let any guy boss her around. Queen. 👑

I experienced a stalker. Such a terrifying experience. This man rolled in from LA into a smaller town where I resided in Pa. Intailly, he seemed friendly and befriended my 2 dogs. He invited himself on a walk with my dogs and I. Then I noticed he had been watching me bc everytime I walked outside he was there. I became creeped out and literally had to hide indoors He would leave 2 dounuts and 2 o.j.'s on my porch every day for 2 weeks. Presumably they were meant for him and I. So wierd. My creep radar went off. Later found out this man with a fake name had a criminal record. I kept my doors locked. One night I walked outside and he was waiting outside like a creep awaiting to confront me. I believe he was crazy obsessed and I can still see his black eyes. I slowly backed away from him as he was shouting...awfully odd for not even knowing him!!. That night all my tires were slashed. It was him. No doubt. The Police arrested him and I never saw him again. Women, please always use your intuition. RIP to Jackie ( she had no idea she was leaving with a psycho stalker murderer!!!

Man this is crazy. When I was 22, I broke up with my ex because he started verbally abusing me. I grew up in an abusive home so once he started calling me names I was out. After I broke up with him, he stalked me for 4 months, constantly going to my work, school and home. He would knock on my window all night and morning long. Sometimes I would be in my car and he would be there watching from outside the window. When I would walk somewhere, sometimes I would look back cause I felt someone was staring at me and he would be there staring at me from a distance. I would see his car following me on the highway when I would switch lanes. I was petrified, he was even arrested for stalking me at one point but he still kept doing it after his arrest. One day he was waiting for me at school I cried telling him “please don’t ruin your life over a relationship” because the cops told me if they caught him again he would go to prison and I reiterated that to him. After that day I never saw him again. I still look over my shoulder. Rest in peace.
It's also a huge red flag when a girl that young willingly pursues a guy with that much of an age difference so it shouldn't be just men who should be red flagged for that. 18, your an adult, take responsibility for your choices, you don't a free pass because of your gender. Women pursue younger guys all the time, does that warrant a red flag as well? Sounds like hypocrisy to me.

I hope and pray that Kaitlyn can get through her survivor’s guilt and do something really special in the world. This dude is not worth worrying about, but I do understand why she worries. Separately, when I was working in leadership for a major company in the past, we had a female call center rep that had a restraining order against her ex. She told us about it, and we remained vigilant. One day, he showed up at the office, we all recognized him when he came to the door ringing the buzzer to be let in. Those of us who were brave enough - some of us former military - formed a line at the front door to bar him from entry while our receptionist called 911. He was quickly arrested, and this poor employee (although traumatized) was extremely thankful knowing her employer would do anything they could to keep her safe. That is how it should work. That's true, but she felt attratced to him too, because he had "a lot of muscles and tattoos". In many of these cases, women are killed because they are naive, careless, or reckless. Many people forget that, and when we point to that fact everybody gets up in protest and say we are blaming the victims. Jackie herself is a case in point. She stuck to and went out in the middle of the night with a man she had never seen before and knew nothing about. That's extremely dangerous behaviour, and many women do that. What do you think will happen when a scumbag meets a young, naive, careless or reckless woman at a bar in the middle of the night, and she follows him without asking questions? Finally, she was a teenager, but she was not a child, the age gap was not the real problem, and she was in the age of consent. There are probably millions of couples with that difference of age. The age gap was not really the problem, and there is no proof that a man is automatically a criminal or a murderer just because he falls in love with a younger woman. Matter of fact, many women prefer to have a relationship with, or marry to, older men.

"This young woman did nothing except walk in a bar and have a conversation with a man. Something millions have done." Apparently, she did more than that, beginning with the fact that the man she had a conversation with was a complete stranger about whom she knew nothing. That alone was more than enough to put her in a dangerous situation. I don't know if millions have done the same thing, but since these are essentially dangerous situations, you can never foresee the outcome.
I think the motive was that he just ended up taking all his rage out in someone because of his feelings over his ex. He probably had built up emotions and aggression. And that poor girl ended up with a ticking time bomb. It's just so unfair that that happened to her....

I also csnt imagine being thr parent of the grown child that couldve so easily been the one that died. The guilt combined with relief... wow. These people are strong. All of em.
Mother's instincts are strong, especially when they've been in abusive relationships themselves. I kno exactly what this mom was talking about. I went thru a very similar thing w my adult daughter last yr. She started dating a guy who just got out of a long prison sentence, I really gave him a chance not wanting to judge him solely on being a convict since he was young & did his time but when I met him & as the relationship progressed I saw many red flags, tried telling my daughter, we fought bcuz she didn't want to believe me & a lil over a month into the relationship... he shot her & also assaulted her 4 yr old son, my grandson. This guy had only been out of prison for 6 months. A month ago he was sentenced to 20 more yrs plus extra for parole violations. Daughters should listen to their Mother's more.
A.S. you are incorrect. Kids that are raised to be independent will not always listen. Kids that are brainwashed followers will always listen. To the op I hope your daughter and grandson are ok.

This is the 1st time I've seen an officer actually care about the victim of a stalker and take action. We need more officers like Captain Polk 👏

You don't call the police about weird purchases at 4 am. That helps a cop do absolutely nothing and waste time. Go ahead and call 911 over a shovel purchase and see what happens.
I remember this dude. He was friends with a roommate of mine called Kenny. When news of him broke out that he killed that poor girl my co-worker told us that he'd be bragging about how all girls are just his "lil toys" on a daily basis but apparently when his friends try to make fun of Katelyn who he called Katie he'd lash out at them.

Oh my gosh! I'm so glad you went with your instincts n avoided this man like the plague, so so creepy!
Me too and the guy left a note intended for me on my sisters grave! My dad was fuming, I mean it wasn’t enough that he was scaring me to death, constantly driving past my work, he was now encroaching on my murdered sisters peace! She could have done much better: not getting involved with him at all in the first place. I can't forget what drove her to him in the beginning: his muscles and his tattos. That's really hard to swallow. She was not smart. She was just lucly. If he had been "subtler", perhaps she'd never have noticed anything, and would be dead today.
The two girls look nothing alike, but in his state of mind, filled with rage, someone had to pay; a young female preferably. That night, he knew he was going to punish someone.

It was Caitlin herself who protected herself and looked out for herself. She's exceptional and we all have to learn from her to have such firm and healthy boundaries.

Thankfully, Caitlin recognized the red flags in Charles' behavior. Kudos to Captain Polk for listening to Caitlin & and taking the stalking seriously and repeatedly being there for her & helping her. Too often, occurrances of stalking are not taken seriously by law enforcement.

There are lots like him.
They don't even look alike. He was just a sad little man looking to get revenge on someone....
My thoughts exactly
Ikr! I think Jackie was better looking than Caitlyn overall. I think he saw Jackie and thought she looked better than Caitlyn and decided he wanted Jackie now. When Jackie rejected him, he snapped and decided he was tired of getting rejected and killed her out of anger. Oftentimes, for people who tend to obsess over others, they can move on quickly if someone better comes along, since it's not real love that they are feeling. He saw Jackie as a replacement. I don't think she reminded him of Caitlyn at all.
She may have rejected him and that probably set him off.

He noticed that Charles Bryant was a serial stalking and dangerous immediately, his quick actions saved her life.
Thank goodness, he listened ! Most don't.
So scary-I’m sorry you had to experience that terror.
Wow I am so glad you cried to him and told him that. It looks like that woke him up
I'm so sorry you had to experience that😢 No one deserves to live in that kind of manipulation and fear.
Guys who date much younger girls is ALWAYS a HUGE red flag. Ladies, think!

Shame on BWW!!!!!!
I can’t believe the manager wouldn’t just trespass him from coming to the business! I’m sure they don’t need the money that badly. From one customer! Shame on them.

Any 30 year old going after a teenager is a creep. Major red flag!

She did more than simnply walk in a bar and have a convsersation with a man. She had a conversation with a man she had never seen before, knew nothing about him, and then left with him to somewhere without asking any questions.
Have a conversation. Do not get into his car and drive away somewhere with him the night you met him. It's simple really.
"This young woman did nothing except walk in a bar and have a conversation with a man. Something millions have done." Apparently, she did more than that, beginning with the fact that the man she had a conversation with was a complete stranger about whom she knew nothing. That alone was more than enough to put her in a dangerous situation.
