For me she is the person with more responsibility in this, she was the professional with a license and a code of conduct, she was the adult grooming and manipulating a young person, she was the one that saw him in jail for years and abandoned him instead of taking responsibility for what he did, she is a horrible person, but what parents send their teen, even if is an older teen, but he is still unstable to live with this older woman that is already violating all rules of therapy and think it will be ok? I think they were naive or trusted her blindly. I do feel they truly regret it and are in much pain.

12 years ago, my cousin was in highschool, 17 years old. We live in a country where talk about mental health was taboo at the time. The school had a psychologist that was in her mid thirties. My cousin went to see her as she was struggling at the time, but didn't tell her parents because they didn't believe in psychologists. Time after time, the psychologist got closer and closer to her, it got to the point where she would bring my cousin after school to her house when her husband wasn't at home, and without my cousins parents knowing. The psychologist sexually assaulted her. My cousin never spoke up to her, never spoke about it to the school, or her parents. It was 3 years ago that she had the courage to tell me and my sister. She got traumatized to the point where she didn't get help because she thought that if she did, the other psychologists would do the same thing to her. Moral of the story, we need to educate our children about everything, even when the subject is maybe delicate or ' taboo '.

In my 20s, I had an 70 year old female psychiatrist that I was seeing for adhd. Immediately trusting her + confusing her ill intent for "kindness", it took me awhile to realize she was a predator. It started as compliments each visit about myself, looks and body that orig. lifted my self esteem, but got weirder later as she started making comments about my husband not deserving me (I never once said a thing to make her think this), compliments becoming more sexual + she began making multiple appointments weekly for no reason that my insurance refused to cover so she started paying for these extra appointments for me. The last time I saw her, she began touching my leg and put her hand up my skirt, touching my privates. Our time was almost up + I Immediately said I had to go and rushed to door. She blocked the door and started confessing her love for me. Luckily even in fear/shock, I had the smarts to tell her if she didn't move, I'd scream and let the whole office hear me. She had no choice, but to let me go, but then obsessively began calling me 100s of times each day to apologize/lure me back to her office. I saved and reported her crazy voice-mails and was able to get her shut down permanently + license revoked....but the saddest thing to me was that this woman practiced for 50 years + prior to opening her own practice worked in teen girl detention centers and orphanages. The number of young girls she likely abused is so incredibly sad. Had I not been an adult woman, I could've easily been another victim.
Even in a country like mine where mental health isn't taboo, the majority of people automatically trust these people to have their best interest. On top of it, nobody expects women to abuse other women/girls. Unfortunately bias cloaks these predators + they use it to their advantage. You really have to live life trusting no one until proven otherwise and that's sad.
I'm so sorry to hear the horrific abuse your cousin endured and truly hope she has found some healing since ❤

The severity of injury/condition being treated usually determines whether it’s ok to medically treat a family member. It’s common place for a doctor to write blood pressure medicine for family member - but you typically wouldn’t have a family member do high risk treatment or procedures on seriously I’ll people. A bipolar drug addict that seems autistic is definitely more similar to a high risk treatment that a family member shouldn’t do. And a good brother would look out for his sister in very direct ways, including , preventively, to divert the bad suitor, or help to get out of gone-bad relationship/marriage.
This therapy business has skewed our perception of normalcy and obscured the plain view.

If the cousin was NOT HIS OFFICIAL THERAPIST, but only as a helpful experienced cousin, a relative, being generous with access to a little boy - that is simply familial generosity.
Parents are not expected to be experts in “fields”. Parents often have to follow their gut and not see “therapy” as a panacea.
As a society , we would be better off if the term “therapy” was replaced only with psychological or psychiatric TREATMENT.

Don’t put your life on the line because someone in the comments said all doctors are evil or crazy. It’s not true. Seek help. And if you don’t find it in the first or second or third professional, keep looking. It took me more than 20 years to really find someone who helped me and he saved my life. I can immediately tell Jake is 100% sincere, he's like my brother who has high functioning autism and is incapable of lying...there was absolutely no motive and like he said he had nothing to hide as he would have died for her. He viewed her so highly, trusted her, was particularly vulnerable and she full on groomed him. She is a complete psychopath who ruined this poor kid's life. My heart goes out to everyone who was affected by these unfortunate circumstances. Had she not manipulated him, I'm sure he would not have harmed anyone. She was telling him every day that the little boy he so grew to love was being SA'd by her ex, he didn't question it because he trusted her. Very sad all around but she should be in prison for life.

Take nothing for granted when seeking out mental health practitioners, particularly if they also have an academic appointment. I've met a few psychiatrists on a social basis. They didn't do anything out of the way, but something inside of me was constantly on-guard. I have been in countless different pool halls, bars, etc. Always listen to your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable inside when you shouldn't, that is your primordial subconscious screaming at you, that something is wrong. It doesn't matter if you can't put your finger on it or not, but something is triggering a 'survival/vigilant' mindset.
We have all experienced at sometime in our life. A drive to work you take everyday and something inside of you just seems to know that a vehicle ahead of you is getting ready to do something stupid. You see a guy at the bar, he is not doing anything malicious, but something does not seem right (most of the time it's a guy waiting for a girl and he is wondering if he just got stood up).
When I met those psychiatrists it was that kind of feeling. Nothing you could pin down but something inside was very wary.

Sad story. Glad Weiss survived. Hope Jake gets help he needs. Hope Pamela gets help she obviously needs also. You can see the desperation in her face in those photos. As a psychiatrist she had to be aware of how fragile Jake was mentally. I think at worst she purposely weaponized him and at best she saw what was happening and bought that sledgehammer and sat back to see how it would play out. Either way I believe she is guilty.
