My mom actually has been looking into doing this for quite some time and knows some friends who have lol, she already takes like 2 cruises a year.
I think I'd actually go insane if I lived on a ship with other people and there's a random person i have beef with but we're in the middle of the ocean and they can just throw me overboard
this is so real
But have you considered this -> you can throw random people you have beef with overboard

They won’t actually do anything about it because of, you know, the implication.

A lot of cruise lines actually are offering extended stays/vouchers to stay in rooms for longer periods of time. It saves them time and work also, and is becoming more common to stay for 12-18 months at a time for cheaper prices for people like this
this sounds like my nightmare, small claustrophobic in the middle of the ocean for days... not to mention crime is insane on cruise ships
CJ Tudor literally wrote a short story about a cruise ship full of people of all ages that have been living there for decades after a natural disaster - and lemme tell you it got real creepy and dystopian real fast. It's called "End of the Liner" on "A Sliver of Darkness" if anyone's interested
Oh that sounds fascinating, thank you for sharing!
I'll check it, thank you for recommending!
ty this sounds sick im gonna read it
Oh so like wall-e
thanks for the rec!
did she say that she likes to stay alone in the ship “with the help”? ahahahaha i bet they love her…
wait idk why everyones freaking out over her saying "the help" could u plz explain
@RustysInferno it's an insulting and patronizing way to refer to someone
@@breadpilled2587It also has v racist connotations, it's normally working class immigrants that have that label slapped on them
Yep definitely clocked that, makes sense that guy said she had "opinions"

Like... spare two seconds to think about that.

4:50 no danny the Amazon person would be furiously swimming to the ship, trying to catch up. on the brink of death, lungs filled with water, and screaming "YOUR ORDER OF 200 NUTCRACKERS IS HERE"
not for what they pay amazon workers lol
im thinking of the mail dude from ninjago ngl
Then they have to swim back to shore and finish the rest of their route, and the next package recipient files a complaint that their hand got the box wet.
5:49 There can NOT be that much to do on a cruise ship, at a certain point it would just be the same thing over and over again
honestly probably fine for an 80 year old woman. she probably just has her comfy routines and w/e.
0:48 when retired Americans do this they usually have a friend or family members address listed as their residence for tax purposes and store sentimental valuables in a storage unit or with family. They also sometimes have their own properties to go back to.
different strokes for different strokes, but hearing the sentence "three year cruise" made my heart clench
Different folks is how that saying ends
imagine getting on a cruise at 27 and getting off of it at 30
u mean different strokes for different folks?
yeah i’m uncomfortable just thinking about it. even a month is probably too long for me. THREE YEARS???
different strokes for different strokes
I would like to build an iceberg for that ship

Titanic 2
And don’t put enough lifeboats in

0:59 life is easy he says. Pirates make life easy. Waves are easy. The smell of the bodies in the ship morgue is easy to deal with. Eating the same thing every day is easy.
A LOT of seniors cruise over and over before they die. Many seniors die on cruises for this reason!
My grandfather is actually a big cruise guy and spends literally 90% of his time on cruises, will miss huge family events for cruises (is missing my sister's wedding for one actually! A whole year out!), even sold his mother's home (our grandmother who recently passed) where we had all our family get togethers and many memories, just for more money for cruises! Gotta love it

for some time now, older people have been staying on cruise ships because they are cheaper than nursing homes. cruise ships are one of the most stressful places to be a doctor, because of how many chronic issues the passengers have, how many things can go wrong, and how few resources they have. fun fact: large cruise ships also have a morgue :D
This is why I didn't see her calling employees "the help" as anything sinister. I was like "yeah, she's probably happy to stay close to help"
I commented the same thing before seeing yours.
It definitely poses additional issues for the staff. Also, many contagious diseases sweep through cruise ships and old folks are more vulnerable than the general public.
@rmb6037 her calling employees "the help" is 100% malicious
@@rmb6037 i think she could have used a better word, but also she's probably one of those old people who refuse to acknowledge that language has changed and that's not an okay thing to call people anymore. hopefully she's not that way in other regards but also i don't know her so i'm not gonna say anything else abt it lol. she's definitely got some opinions.
yeah, i honestly would like to retire on a cruise ship when i'm older, i've heard Not Great things about nursing homes so i feel like a cruise would just be better. i wish more people would talk about the actual environmental impacts of cruise ships instead of just being like "cruises are stupid, people who like cruises are stupid"
like obv that's not what danny is doing but it feels like a lot of the responses are just that. like cruises aren't perfect obv, but it's weird how we're blaming individual people and not the companies running the cruise lines as a whole
Are we just gonna ignore that the Captain's name is Burger?? 6:39
I work at a cruise ship terminal, trust me, it’s all retired people already on most ships. 9:10
The only people who aren’t in the “nearly dead” category are the MOST BORING “newly weds” ever who don’t know how to plan a vacation on land.

4:39 Danny, fun fact, there is a way to get mail on a boat, these people called like mail runners or sm literally have to SPRINT to grab the mail from the mailbox, and have to RUN to actually get it on the boat- I forgot how much it pays but that’s a fricking crazy job- like imagine your whole job basically is us running to two different places and if you don’t make it your like screwed-😂
I can see this becoming a movie plot. Thirty couples ranging from just retired to nearly 💀 decide to live out their golden years on a cruise ship. But the cruise ship goes off course. They run into pirates, who ravage the vessel for anything they can eat. The cruise-goers band together to learn how to fish, and become quite good at it. But not everyone wants to work for food. This was supposed to be their retirement. They begin to turn on one another. As time goes on, people begin 💀 ing, one by one. Nobody knows what- or who- is causing the disappearances…
Lost but Golden Girls sounds dope as hell
My great aunt did this for almost 5 years back around 2000. Even though she owned several houses and thousands of acres in Canada, she preferred to live on a cruise ship. Before she decided to go non-stop, she had a camper trailer and would stay there until the next cruise came in. She was a retired chemical engineer and had worked hard all her life. She was my inspiration to be more than a mom and wife that most of my peers in my tiny town became. I miss her dearly. I am a polymath with 4 degrees... I wish she could see me now 💐

Danny ponders cruise living logistics for 13 minutes and 12 seconds
As a nurse I KNOW at least some of those old ppl have medications so like how do they get their meds
delivery people swim furiously
The ships dock lol these folks have their meds sent to the next port that they'll arrive to
@@shannonceleste5557 you have to see your doctor every 6 months to a year to get them filled sometimes sooner depending on the medicine but maybe the ship has a doctor ?

That’s what I was thinking! And like even if they get them when they dock, what happens if there is supply shortages of a certain medication when they dock and they have to leave before they can get their meds? That 88 year old is going to die and expect the “help” to deal with it!

I'm somewhat attracted to minimalistic and nomatic life styles, but this sounds like a nightmare. There is just something about cruises that's so unappealing to me. I haven't even been on one, but I don't like all inclusive hotels, unethical tourism or very curated tourist areas. Cruises are all three on hard mode....
Also the fact that you're trapped on the boat most of the time. That ship's gonna feel claustrophobic after a while

1. Cruise culture is insane and living on cruise ships has been a thing for a long while.
2. Why do people still listen to Graham (guy from beginning) anymore? He's promoted multiple scams while claiming to "not give financial advice"
The reasons it’s so affordable on the boat is bc cruises often pay their workers poorly

8:11 well cruises have shows, pools, activities, and meals that are probably better than retirement homes. You also meet new people too, plus the rocking of the boat can be pretty relaxing for sleep. You get nice views too
Imagine living in a cramped wet hotel room for a decade with literal shelves for bunk beds
As someone who is around a lot of wealthy retired people, they talk about going on cruises as casually as someone talks about going to the movies.

Can’t wait for part 3 where Danny moves his family to live full time on the titanic replica. Packing is a breeze since you only need one shirt!
The "problem" with it being comparitively cheap is that it's difficult to work. So it's only really feasible if you can make all your money online and that job (whatever it is) allows you to not have your own permanent space.
It will be interesting to see if more digital entrepreneurs do this and if that then drives the price up.
I went on semester at sea back in 2015, which was 4 months at sea/ travelling around the world. It was awesome. Some (older) alumni are living on ships full time now.

About mailing things: you can often get things sent to where you will be when it arrives. You can just have it be a pick up order from one of Amazon’s pick up locations or more UPS and FedEx locations at the port you’re at. You can also do this while you’re traveling in general
