Air up is a clear scam. Super expensive, even with codes and as every single person who wasn’t payed said, it’s disgusting and just not drinkable. Danny, I know you need sponsors to keep doing what you’re doing. Just saying it’s not a good thing to spend your money on. Lil edit: Just want to say, no offence Danny. I really disagree with letting airup sponsor you butnit’s your channel. If there isn’t another option, yeah, get some extra money for the channel, but if you can get a different sponsor, it would very much restore a lot of faith in your channel. It of course could be a deal where you’re required to make a certain amount of sponsored videos. If so, I feel sorry for you mate. If you really want to be back to how you were before this started, don’t sign into any more deals from them. I’ve skimmed through the comments and saw that people all agree. Please, do the right thing, the next time you can. - all of Greg
I love that Danny always starts these videos with an apology for being “really late to this story” and it’s always about people I’ve literally never heard of.
Inflation is crazy these days. Between increased rent, more expensive groceries, and supporting Jason Nash on Tik Tok, I don't know how I'm supposed to save up!
Monthly expenses: Rent $1500 Groceries $700 Utilities $250 TikTok roses for Jason Nash $4000 I don’t know what I’m going to do! My budget is already only necessary expenses!
I pray that I have the sort of expendable income to one day say, “alright, which tik toker am I donating to today”. I’d genuinely have to be the richest person in the world or perhaps god himself, because I don’t think my income will ever be that expendable for it not to be a waste.
y'all remember the tweet "What's classy when you're rich, but trashy when you're poor"? Well I just found another example, asking for money when you have a million dollar home is "a job", but it's "begging" when you're homeless
EXAAAAACTLY!!!! because when someone who is actually poor asks for support it's a "handout" and they should "pick themselves up by their bootstraps". keep that same energy with these vlog squad losers.
Hey man, your job and work is highly important, society would literally not function without your service. We don’t need these stupid influencers, we need you.
yeah what that other guy said, jobs like urs make the world go round, meanwhile nobody would bat an eye if "tiktok live gift battlers" just dropped off the map lol
It honestly hurt me a bit when Jason’s house got raided and his son said “it’s just one of David’s pranks it’s okay.” They messed up those kids too and it’s sad.
@@Carols989it’s truly horrifying to think about. we’ve normalized exploiting your children on the internet for money & it happens so much it’s ….. disgusting
@@katherinevanhorn217 That and also spoiling them so when the virality dies down it's gonna be "mommy when's david gonna make life fun again" because a normal amount of gifts for children wont mean anything. I do not understand people who actually watch those livestreams and send money. He's just staring at them and saying nothing and he's not even *that* famous.
Its very interesting to me, he says he is losing his house but I bet he has a massive house, so man, you may just have to live in a smaller house, its not like you are going homeless lol
it all ended pretty abruptly, i don’t think any of them were ready for it. if i remember correctly, they had “big plans” for where they were going to take the vlog squad. and i think they even still tried to elevate out of the youtube-sphere but bc of the scandals, it all flopped. they also weren’t expecting the cancellation to stick.
Right⚡️ All those Galaxies could really help TRUE humanitarian problems. I believe most donations must come from children that have been manipulated and brainwashed by many😢
all of david's old friends sitting around talking about their glory days while david is still out there making millions is so depressing oh my god. i didn't know it was this bad for them
Jason is stuck in a place that many influencers will inevitably be stuck in. Being a full grown adult with a mortgage and spouse and children to provide for, being used to spending insane amounts of money, and only being qualified to do a minimum wage job outside of social media when your fame inevitably dwindles.
The part that's most frustrating to me (and which danny hits on at the end of this video) is when you get a lot of money....just fucking save some of the money! How short sighted do you have to be to just start living as if you'll always have an income like that? If you have that much, just take a chunk of it and stick it in a high yield savings or index funds or some shit and leave it there and then you will always have money! It's so annoying to be someone who works for a living and diligently saves for the future and to see these people who make millions and then go "oh whoops I spent it all and have no income now, poor me"
I mean, he has marketing and editing and video creation skills. There are entire agencies whose whole thing is pairing sponsors with influencers. He could do something like that. There's plenty of 9-5s he'd qualify for. He simply doesn't want them because he feels working a "real" job is beneath him.
@@hospitable_ghost Yeah maybe he doesn't want them. But also maybe he just feels like he doesn't have any other skills that would qualify him having those other jobs. Could be a mindset kinda thing. It's tough to say, I do feel for the dude tho. For now his begging on tiktok is what is paying the bills so he's gonna keep doing it. I'm sure his lifestyle and expenses aren't cheap living in a place like LA and having to provide for a wife and kids...
It’s definitely weird Jason would say he’s “in a financial hole” and then laugh at door dash/retail jobs, as if ppl don’t regularly do jobs “below” their skills because they fricken need money
When he started dunking on other jobs as if they were beneath him, I basically stopped feeling bad for him at all. He’s literally panhandling on TikTok. It’s SOO undignified, especially for someone his age with children.
lowkey after that it made sense to me why David showed up to his house to make fun of Jason's "new job" to the dude's face. Jason really needs to get it through his thick ass skull that it's really sad what he's doing lmao. Especially since you're already on vine and could easily just make content like that again as a person on tiktok
I don't feel bad cause he has a miraculous 5 year run, and at his age he should've prepared. He's either financially wreckless or has no integrity, either one I don't have any sympathy whatsoever.
@@topspot4834problem is these people are obsessed with the Hollywood lifestyle, especially once they’ve lived it. The very idea of having a quiet life with your family and working normal jobs is like their worst nightmare. It’s all about appearances and ego. Jason made plenty of money to last him the rest of his life if he was smart with it, but clearly he was more focused on continuing to live the “lavish” lifestyle. Look where that’s got him. Eventually people will get tired of giving him money on Tiktok (I hope)
@SokkaToEm Yea, but it'd be one thing if David did that in privacy. Honestly I feel.bad for everyone in the David squad because they were unpaid interns for someone either the same age or younger. David should have given them even 2% of what he's making, especially since 1. It's off of all of their labor and 2. Those videos are still getting views. As much as I don't like seeing someone begging for money when they are able to downsize and get a good paying job, like media consultant. I also don't think it's right to embarrasse someone like that especially when you dont even care about them.
even during david's vlogs, jason was already constating stating he was strapped for cash, but then he'd go around spending ludicrous amounts of money for his own vlogs, on his car, on rent or whatever else. Like, dude you don't need to rent a house in the hollywood hills, there are other cheaper houses, even in LA.
It’s actually crazy how loyal David’s friends are even now after all that has happened. David pretty much used all of them and left them to fend for themselves other than Natalie and Ilya whom he invested in. None of them other than Jeff has ever said anything bad about David. It’s pretty fascinating.
I can imagine the Netflix documentary in 10 years about the cult that he's essentially ran and hold he still has over them. Life After David: My Untold Story
I feel like nothing would kill the vibe harder in my friend group than one of us holding a camera the whole time and everyone knowing this was going to be online later.
Okay seriously. As a fellow old person (I’m 45), I legitimately can’t even put into words how nightmarish this idea is. Having to drag my decrepit middle aged body out of bed (in a house I can’t afford) in order to spend every moment I’m awake staring with dead eyes into a phone screen while begging teenagers to send me sombrero emojis or whatever the f*ck. My god. This man is causing me to have an existential crisis. I need to lie down.
He has sooo many connections in hollywood and so many friends he could start doing background work or even like writing and stuff. I just think he needs attention.
Jason Nash has creeped me out since the days of Vine especially when he used to hang around Nash Grier and Cameron Dallas bc he was this old man hanging out with two teenage boys that tween girls were obsessed with.
David showing up to Jason’s house wearing a crown and talking about how small his house is gives the same vibes as your old boss showing up to your new job and talking about how much better your old job was
@@lemongarycactusew, lol. Can you imagine being so…what even is that? Codependency? Bitterness? Abandonment wounds? Flared ego? What is that? That’s mad weird…like y’all were dating…and even then it’d be mad weird…just…not AS weird.
I don’t use TikTok so I thought Danny was saying “gif battle” instead of “gift battle” at first. And I imagined it would be like seeing which creator’s viewers could send them the coolest gifs and then that person would win. That would be a lot more fun.
I DO use TikTok - way too much - and I also thought he said gif battle. I’ve cultivated a good enough algorithm that it wouldn’t dare show me the kind of “creators” who do stuff like this, lol.
Danny really kept me in nuance mode by sharing both compassion and criticism for multiple parties in this video (on a topic i didn't even know existed)
I'm a lawyer who works in the entertainment industry in LA and this video sparked me to share a few observations about the business: 1) like Danny said, when you're hot, you're hot but it won't last forever; the people who thrive in the entertainment business longterm will have ups and downs in their career; I've heard famous people say there is no high quite like it and when the star fades the comedown can be really hard, 2) similarly, the money will be good and bad; I was trying to counsel a young social media star (no one in this video) a few years ago to put aside some of his money and I just couldn't convince him - no one will; 3) boring things like accountants, insurance, and managers are essential and you should listen to them -- DD's stunt with the excavator could have killed his friend and landed DD into bankruptcy easily; lawyers, insurance, planning - boring things - are essential; you need an adult in the room
@@laneythelame they all think the money will keep coming in and increasing indefinitely in amount forever ... but its just not how it works ... in the meantime, McLarens for cash

Its crazy how a decade ago, this guy was on Vine and had a comedy central special (never saw it), and ended up in David's gang, surrounded by guys half his age, and now relying on this strange ... life based on just if people can keep watching you and giving you likes. It sounds like an exhausting career.
I hate to say it but he was a grown ass man acting like a teenager surrounded by teenagers. How long did he think that was going to last? I can’t muster up even a slight amount of sympathy for him.
exactly. it’s just pathetic. i feel bad for his children. thank god his ex wife if i remember correctly is/was a producer in the industry and she always seemed really sweet and grounded .
i feel for him a little bit. i dont know jason much, but it reminds me of my dad. my dad didnt have friends for the past like 15 years because all he did was work. eventually he got into video games and made some younger friends on fallout 76. i would hear him playing with a kid that had to be like 10 and the kid's dad, along with whoever else was in the party. my dad was finally able to fit in somewhere, and yeah he was the oldest of all of them, but i can completely understand in that situation. I mean hell, im 25 in college so most of my friends are 18-21. idk, its like we're a little socially stunted from not being able to find friends for so long and we end up hanging out with people younger than us for a while. not that its super great bc you def need to hang out w ppl your age, but its also not bad to have young friends
I don’t understand the concept of Jason being broke now because he is still making wayyy more money than I am and can sell his house for a lot of money and transition into a “normal” home which will still be better than anything I’d be able to get. Invest his money and stuff. He’s not broke, he’s just less rich now Edit: I’m gonna use this lil bit of clout not to thank you guys for the likes🖕🏻 but to say we need to bring back Danny and Kurtis on twitch 😂
LA has an insanely high cost of living. What David called his "Hobbit hole" home probably easily costs 1million+ to buy. To move to a more "normal" area would mean to move away from all the "opportunities" that are centralized to that area.
Literally he must’ve made millions off the vlog squad (merch, sponsorships, videos, podcast with David, etc). Especially when you look back on his videos and see his lifestyle. How did he manage to blow through all of it…????
@@miminaomi-jg8eynot to start a fight but... you know people can be friends and not be the same age, right? It's not like they're dating or anything. Not saying that abuses of power CAN'T happen but you think all friendships with age gaps are "icky"?
@@wishtopublish I mean, i personally think its weird to mostly or only hang out with people significantly younger, esp if barely actually adults, because it says a lot about your maturity. @@danielgysi5729Yeah but it’s just one video looking down upon it calling it out for what it is. Most people aren’t calling it out or looking down upon it enough. Lots of people are still giving him money lol.
@@danielgysi5729it’s pathetic if you refuse to get a job and are already pretty rich. At least, the majority of homeless people statistically have jobs but can’t even afford a cheap apartment. Jason Nash on the other hand could sell his current house and still buy another smaller one that’s more affordable.
i would too bc like... get your ass on doordash or start selling stuff lmaooo if he was poor and about to lose his house it would be different, but mans is still going on vacations and stuff
I feel like people forget two key things when they say "why doesn't (insert now-irrelevant influencer) get a normal job?" One, most regular jobs nowadays will google you during the hiring process to see if anything of concern might come up. Jason Nash obviously has a plethora of stuff about him out on the internet, and even if it's all pretty harmless, he was never being filmed in one of David's vlogs thinking "man I should probably say something that won't set off any red flags for the regional hiring manager at jiffy lube." It's not a guarentee that his internet presence would be a dealbreaker, but it probably wouldn't help. (But if he was doing something like doordash it probably wouldn't matter, to be fair.) The other thing is that he's clearly spent like 2 decades building a career for himself in the entertainment industry, pivoting careers entirely to real estate or whatever would basically mean having to start back at zero for career building and connections, at entry level positions and pay, which is obviously pretty demoralizing, especially at his age. Danny brings up a good point though that having an internet presence CAN net you jobs, but it's likely they'll be less glamorous and autonomous than being a normal influencer. He doesn't need to leave the entertainment industry and ignore all these connections he's built, but, like Danny said, he needs to be okay with an adjustment in lifestyle in order to get back to having a stable income. Otherwise, he's gonna have to keep embarassing himself on tiktok live.
I guess I still struggle to give Jason sympathy though due to seeing a lot of older people now having to go back to work to make ends meet. Don't get me wrong, I can see how that's demoralizing but to the average individual it's almost expected to never retire anymore.
@@plumbunnii Yes, for him it's demoralizing, while for the rest of us it's just Tuesday. It's our entire life. I'm sure he had enough money to straight-up retire on at one point, but he blew it all on expensive unnecessary shit, and now he's regretting it. No reason to feel bad for him when he's entirely done this to himself (and perhaps David helped a bit by not giving him such a large platform anymore). Also, I think people have done the math on these TikTok competitions, and while they're not super well-paying, they're also not nothing. You can make a few grand or so in one stream - maybe that's only on the best days, while the rest of the time it's less, but still, even a few hundred is nothing to scoff at - you could theoretically just do one or two streams every day and make at least a few hundred bucks on each one. On the one hand, it's pathetic, but I'd also say it's pretty smart, cuz you're barely having to put in any effort to make a somewhat decent amount of money.
He also probably just can't make it work on lower pay. They live in LA FFS. Their standard of living seems quite high. He's divorced and has kids too, so, like, what happens there if he moves out of LA? Who has custody? Does he just not get to see his kids much then? Who knows?
I mostly agree with you here, but the demoralizing aspect of doing something at entry level at that age is just sort of a reality for most folks nowadays. It'd only really be weird for him because he might get recognized as "guy from vine", "Trisha Paytas's ex" or former vlog squad member which isn't really an average person his age's worry.
I’ve been thinking the job search and lack of other skills has been the no brainer answer since the beginning. Obviously he wants to stay where he can get easy money instead of having to put in effort to build a new skill set and find a regular job. Also he has been pretty controversial at times especially with his association with David and Trisha, he’d be a huge liability for a regular company to hire. I don’t really have sympathy for the guy either but definitely understand why he’d rather embarrass himself on tiktok
doordash is underrated asf. i used to doordash to make some side cash and if you live in the city it can be an awesome job. i live in the middle of nowhere so i wasn’t able to make much tho
Dude you are one of the most level-headed youtubers out there. I have no worries there will be life after youtube for you, whenever that ends up happening.
I appreciate Danny's perspective in this video, especially the later end where he mentions that there are avenue like marketing, writing, social media etc that still allow people to explore interests in creative/ entertainment industries
Dude seriously. This is THE BEST video/take I've seen on the subject. People are so heavily quick to pick sides nowadays but Danny really took all sides into account and looked at it without true bias + actually giving good advice and not just talking shit
Danny’s whole speech about careers in entertainment and saving for a future and stuff was so dad coded of him. More evidence that becoming a dad just hits you like a truck and you begin to change overnight. Soon he’ll be wearing baseball cap, cargo shorts and and socks with sandals

@@MelissaLawrence2002 I think they're talking about the theory that Scott stole Zelda's work (his wife). For example, the words that Daisy said in the book was what Zelda said after she gave birth to their daughter. "I hope she's beautiful and silly, a beautiful little fool," Apparently they had a lot of arguments over their "shared autobiographical material" because a lot of Scott's works were well, based on his irl life. Zelda wrote a book, "Save Me the Waltz" that was also based on her irl life. IIRC, they had an argument over it. Also, something Zelda jokingly said in an interview: "It seems to me that on one page I recognized a portion of an old diary of mine which mysteriously disappeared shortly after my marriage, and, also, scraps of letters which, though considerably edited, sound to me vaguely familiar. Personnally, the moment i found out that David did a "prank" where he snuck into Trisha and Jason's hotel room and recorded them sleeping together, my opinion has been very sour. The fact that he also didnt pay for the bills of his friend he gravely injured and now is doing this just adds to it.
The funniest part of all of this is that Danny actually did a collab with Jason on Vine a good ten or nine years ago. It goes to show how small the influencer world is, yet a good majority of them ended up fading into obscurity or became a shell of themselves after Vine’s end alongside the end of the 2017-2019 UA-cam era. So glad Danny didn’t meet that fate(and probably never will because he’s actually funny and talented)
@@CornyKidNPC that's true, but there's 2 types of forgotten entertainers, the ones who actually saved money and can live comfortably off, and the ones who spent it all like water and have nothing to fall back on, danny's opinions in this video seem to imply he intends to be the former, obviously time will tell if he ends up that way, but I think he has a good chance of being able to remain financially stable once this career dies off
People being born with a TikTok account or a realtor’s license is such a dystopian thought. Almost as dystopian as installing a smart light switch in one room of your house.
Getting Smart light switches on one room of your house is not impressive, however did they do all the work themselves with the installation and cable management? Because then I would actually be impressed

thing is Jason's house is super nice by normal standards. Shows exactly how out of touch he is, it also shows how little he cares about Jasons feelings
At 2:20, the reason a lot of those accounts are 18, is simply because a lot of kids just pick that age so they can access anything without restrictions.
Seeing he had a history of acting and stand up, I do feel for him. A lot of actors have a hard time once work slows down for them. A few years ago an actor from the 90s went viral because he was working at a grocery store. But he had no shame about it. Acting didn’t work out anymore so he got a job.
pride. This nash guy clearly looks down on normal jobs. Plus he cant sustain his current lifestyle, and I think sometimes fallen youtubers get obbsessed with regaining relevancy
he would have to leave LA and start a new humble life and that's "beneath him" retail pays 20hr , for 20$ in LA you're getting a sandwich. he has the means to uproot and start over but his thirst for relevancy is too deep
I’m sure he couldn’t afford his house or car on a retail wage. If you make a lot of money you almost always experience lifestyle creep- you buy a nicer house, a nicer car, you put your kids in private school, you get plastic surgery or go on vacation more. It’s hard to uproot your life and downsize, and it sucks for your family. And especially if you’re an influencer whose career depends on looking wealthy and having fun, a lot of that stuff can be financed through debt. It could be that he has debts to pay off in addition to whatever normal expenses he has. Plenty of people would prefer to embarrass themselves online for enough money.
I just love Danny. I feel like this video really showcases his character. Like he’s very funny, I was very entertained, but I definitely noted like the asking people not to send hate to anyone, encouraging people to not conflate their career with materialism, etc. I’m sure his kid will grow up with a very upstanding moral compass
4:25 This was actually super common in the early 2010s vlogging scene and we all got super hyped about it, to the point that it would drive up views bc even if you weren’t following the other person, you wanted to see the other side of the video. I get why it would get tired and weird after seeing it all the time though, and vlogs are generally much longer now than they were back then.
honestly crazy how there was a million-dollar deal for Jason and david to do a podcast every week, only for an hour. . There was life changing money for that deal and instead of taking it and helping his friend and himself, he doesn't. I just dont understand why
I’m pretty sure this deal was happening right when David got cancelled over the dirty dom assault came to light. So David went into hiding lol. I think if the deal would’ve been 6 months earlier, David would’ve done it bc it’s easy money for little work which is his favorite
It’s exactly what Daniel said, Jason Nash shouldn’t have placed all of his relevancy on David, and to be fair he only needs all this bc he spends exorbitant amounts of money and needs to continue to fund this current lifestyle

I’m pretty sure Jason has publicly said he lost a lot of money after he invested in doge coin. Same with Scott. I think that has a large part in why he’s begging for money now.

danny is one of the most genuine influencers i've seen. I've been following since like 2018 and he's always humble and smart and doesn't flaunt his fame
And also the fact that he tried to move to LA and be like every other youtuber and was like “ew this is gross nvm” and just went back home. Like that’s so real. I think LA would be fun for a week but living there seems like hell on earth
It always baffles me how the most uninteresting, un-passionate, cookie cutter people get famous. This isn’t necessarily specifically about Jason but like a huge population of influencers are just the most boring people who do the exact same things and get paid millions for it. Then on the other hand there’s influencers who just seem to hate what they do like Jason, and the dobre brothers. The dobre brothers constantly look like they’re clocking in for another unpaid 24 hour shift at the steel mill. I simply don’t understand the people who can watch creators that clearly have zero passion and enjoy their content because if the person making it isn’t enjoying it then how am I supposed to enjoy watching???
There are so many influencers/streamers who have no skill or personality getting absurdly rich. I don't get it. Who are these people watching all day? It will be interesting to see what they do when streaming dries up. I don't think it's a sustainable career.
Advertising It's the reason why most big budget mainstream media is sorta bland. Because any content that is monetized is essentially a billboard. When you get the big spenders in ads they are large corporations filled with several different teams office workers. Most of whom never created anything in their lives and are obsessed with the appearance of their brand. Who's only desire is generating more profit. So rich influencers are gonna be selected because they capture people's attention and match a brand's image not if they are interesting people.

If there isn’t another option, yeah, get some extra money for the channel, but if you can get a different sponsor, it would very much restore a lot of faith in your channel. He said he's losing his house and everyone on the pod chuckled
i would too bc like... get your ass on doordash or start selling stuff lmaooo if he was poor and about to lose his house it would be different, but mans is still going on vacations and stuff
Danny mentioning he’s a father still feels so illegal 😭

In fact, Mr. Fitzgerald (I believe that is how he spells his name) seems to believe that plagiarism begins at home.” so take that how you will.
@@CornyKidNPC that's true, but there's 2 types of forgotten entertainers, the ones who actually saved money and can live comfortably off, and the ones who spent it all like water and have nothing to fall back on, danny's opinions in this video seem to imply he intends to be the former, obviously time will tell if he ends up that way, but I think he has a good chance of being able to remain financially stable once this career dies off

why can't fallen youtubers just work in retail like normal people?
Sunken cost fallacy you can't spend twenty years in an industry and not think it has to work out eventually
They can, they just don't want to

4:25 This was actually super common in the early 2010s vlogging scene and we all got super hyped about it, to the point that it would drive up views bc even if you weren’t following the other person, you wanted to see the other side of the video. I get why it would get tired and weird after seeing it all the time though, and vlogs are generally much longer now than they were back then.
you're so right, kinda forgot about this!
yah i remember when i used to go to the channels of everyone who was on the vlogs to see the situation from all angles nd in more details lol..
honestly crazy how there was a million-dollar deal for Jason and david to do a podcast every week, only for an hour. . There was life changing money for that deal and instead of taking it and helping his friend and himself, he doesn't. I just dont understand why
What happens when you’re a big phony and coward that has to resort to not addressing anything and running off to a no comment platform
Because he is a very selfish person who lacks empathy
I’m pretty sure this deal was happening right when David got cancelled over the dirty dom assault came to light. So David went into hiding lol. I think if the deal would’ve been 6 months earlier, David would’ve done it bc it’s easy money for little work which is his favorite
Not defending David but he doesn’t exactly owe anyone anything
It’s exactly what Daniel said, Jason Nash shouldn’t have placed all of his relevancy on David, and to be fair he only needs all this bc he spends exorbitant amounts of money and needs to continue to fund this current lifestyle
the ad for Airup was implemented in the most genius way into the video!
I noticed on most of the lives, the gift bar is fake. Go to both profiles and look at the lives, each are winning on their own profiles. So it’s not even accurate to how many gifts they may actually be receiving.

Because their fanbases are mostly children lol
Advertising
It's the reason why most big budget mainstream media is sorta bland.
