      @Poodz_ 8 років тому +15

      Yeah it's a bit ridiculous. I drive but I definitely don't earn enough to afford either car. I watch these videos of people going through the experience of buying cars to learn for myself what to look for. I'm not sitting here pretending I know everything about and judging people I don't know personally about their decisions.

      mrenzo2004 People want to pay him money for his videos. It was his own money. Are we going to get pissed at every youtuber who asks people to pay on their patreon or buy their T-shirts? Because it's basically the exact same thing.

      When you're in the market to buy a car everybody's gonna jump in and criticize every single car decision you make. The second you get the car you want and prove them wrong, priceless.....

    It's unfortunate that so many people in the "car scene" today are 100% focused on pure numbers rather than the enjoyment an individual person may get from a specific car. Anyone who bashes someone else for their personal opinion or preference has no business in cars.

      LuBano Hie starts by saying how he chose the Mustang because he subjectively likes it more (which is fine), but then he goes on this tangent where he starts making RIDICULOUS claims, saying how the Camaro is basically "TOO good..." What kind of argument is that?

    • @vikk5459
      @vikk5459 8 років тому +10

      +David T. You missed what he said right after that. He said they baked in too many options and made it too expensive which is why the Mustang is consistently selling more than the Camaro. He then went on to say that he likes the look of the Mustang better and he finds the tail lights boring on the Camaro. The Camaro, if it keeps down this path, may not be around much longer. This sale pattern is starting to look a lot like 2002 when the Camaro was discontinued.

    Fact of the matter is, the Camaro will never have the legacy of the Mustang. It'll never have the 'image' of the Mustang. It'll never have that 'it' factor that make people love Mustangs. As we all know, the Mustang has been in continuous production since it first came out. Everyone either has a Mustang, or knows someone who has. You see them everywhere. It's just a car that people want, for so many reasons. The Camaro may have it beat on paper, but there's something special about a Mustang that a Camaro will never have.

    objectively you choose a camaro for a better interior (more leather usage in the interior), superior handling, louder exhaust, superior braking , superior acceleration, superior MPG, and better fit and finish thanks to extra inspections.
    for the mustang.. you get it for the badge. hmmm.
    also for the sales figures, its important to keep in mind GM is not really selling to rental companies on MASS like ford is with the mustang, currently the majority of the sales for the camaro are done by customers not rental companies like the mustang. seeing as rental car sales are easily 35+% of sales thats a huge issue.

    The Camaro is more expensive for a reason. You get what you pay for. I would argue both are a bargain. I almost bought the GT but got a significant rebate from $46,850 to $42,000 on a fully loaded 2016 Camaro 2 SS. This car is fast, faster than my previous 2008 GT500. Both Ford and GM have made this competition fun again. GM stepped their game up with this new Camaro, its fast and pulls in all gears, hooks up well too and I actually think its a better looking car also, maybe because I see too many mustangs out there. Both autos are worth the money though and I guess if I were on a smaller budget the 5.0 would have been a good choice, thank god for the GM rebates....

Personally, I've always owned Camaros, and I chose my 16 SS over a GT, but I get every point that you've made, and deep down if I wasn't a Camaro guy at heart, I think I would've chosen the GT. Great video, and great channel.

    I've grown up in a Chevy family my whole life, owned a 25th Anniversary Camaro, and now a 6th gen. However, I drove a 2015 Mustang before my Camaro purchase for a week and fell in love with it. Perhaps my decision was similar, some sentimental value, and what not. I can't speak for the Challenger, but I think for the first time it's seriously a toss on whether the Mustang or Camaro is "better." They're both outstanding this generation.

      +shawn benfield realistically, the price difference is about $1k or $2k, you need the Performance Pack to match the Camaro's standard suspension and brake package and even then you aren't as fast or as good handling, the GT doesn't come with the infotainment standards so you have to get the Premium which ups the price once again. The Camaro is a great deal once you really look at what you need to add to the Mustang to even get close to a Base SS. With the Camaro you get more standard equipment, with the Mustang you need to tick a few boxes, which increases the price.
      Also, destination isn't included on the Mustangs pricing, but it is in the Camaro (close to $1k just there).

    It doesn't all come down to numbers, and that's what these Camaro fanboys don't understand. If the Camaro is so fucking fantastic, why is the Mustang STILL outselling it? Some people just don't understand that you may like a car better and that's your opinion. Doesn't matter if it's slower or worse-handling, if you like it then you should get it.

    • @steverhodes7036
      @steverhodes7036 8 років тому +2

      And just to be clear on some of that, the Mustang GT may be slower than a Camaro SS but that doesn't make it slow. If I'm not mistaken, the SS has a bit more than a liter advantage in engine displacement over the GT. I'd darn sure hope it would be faster! The Mustang GT may not handle as well as a Camaro SS but that doesn't mean it's a bad handling car. It's highly likely that both cars are more capable in the handling department than most of us are capable of taking advantage of anyway!

    • @InsinuacionOfficial
      @InsinuacionOfficial 8 років тому +13

      The mustang is outselling it because the Camaro SS is not as affordable as the 5.0.

    • @MrGaMeR777DP
      @MrGaMeR777DP 8 років тому +9

      +Steve Rhodes Why do so many people like you think displacement is engine size? The 5.0 is both heavier and physically bigger than the lt1. Mustang has 32 valves and 4 camshafts compared to the camaro's 2 valves and 1 camshaft. There are different ways to make power, and chevy uses pushrods for their v8s because it is efficient and easy to make power out of. The lt1 could easily make well over than 500hp if chevy didn't restrict it all.

    • @steverhodes7036
      @steverhodes7036 8 років тому

      Todd Rich, I wasn't aware of the actual external "physical" dimensions of the 5.0 vs the Lt1. That is definitely part of the equation, "power to weight" I mean, but that wasn't what I was referring to. The term displacement, in the context I was talking about, refers to the "internal" dimensions of bore and stroke. Everything else being equal, bigger pistons and valves, will yield more power. That's where the old saying, "there's no replacement for displacement" comes from and why I would expect the 6.2 liter V8 Camaro to out power the 5.0 liter V8 Mustang. We're talking about internal combustion engines here and not boat hulls!
      From a technological/mechanical standpoint, the 5.0 is a more advanced engine than the Lt1. That "is not" a dig against the Chevy, as I have the utmost respect for what they've been able to do with the technology but I'd point out that the fundamental design of the Lt1's engine isn't significantly different than the V8's GM produced for my Grandfather's cars and I was born in 1955! Again, I'm not putting them down for that, it's obviously a solid design and of course, the metallurgy has improved by leaps and bounds since my Grandfather's day. I fully agree with you that Chevy can easily coax more power out of the Lt1's engine and they are in other applications if I'm not mistaken, but there's a lot to be said for the technology used in the Ford's engine. Dual overhead cams (DOHC), four valves per cylinder, variable cam timing. All are proven technology these days and all are used by just about everyone from the smallest econoboxes on up. Why? Because they improve engine efficiency in terms of power, fuel economy, and emissions. It would be interesting to take the Lt1's engine and reduce it's bore and stroke dimensions to those of the Mustang's 5.0 so they's be equal in "internal" displacement. Leave everything else the same, relatively, and see how it hangs with the Mustang from a power standpoint. Somehow, I doubt you'd be as vocal about it!

    My brother has got the mustang so i've driven both and i liked the Camaro much more, but both are pretty awesome. He knows that my car is the better performer but he still got the mustang because he likes it better.

    I had a 2001 Mustang Cobra from new No.555 build, a few trucks( F-150's) , then a 2014 Camaro SS 2SS. I just traded the Camaro in for a Challenger Scat Pack Manual trans in Redline Red Tricoat Pearl late May. I bought it for the power, old school handling feel and ride quality. It might not handle as good as the Mustang or Camaro, however the roominess and ride quality is where it is at for me. Love your reviews and thoughts Matt. Thanks.

    I hear you, bro! I've never been able to afford a new car so, when the '94 Mustang came out, I knew I would own that model someday. I finally got a '98 GT a few years ago. It's not super powerful but, it's quick and it still turns heads! I love how bare-bones and simple it is and there is a ton of after-market things you can do with it. I like the new Mustang and will probably own one in about ten years. When the new Camaro came out, to me, it seemed kinda clown-ish. You know, just too over-the-top so, I wouldn't go looking for one.

    @subaruwrxfan I'm torn between the mustang gt and the scatpack. I haven't driven either of them, because I'm not the type to waste salesman's time when I'm not "buying today". The reason I'm torn, is because I traded a full bolt on, 4.10 07 gt 5 speed in for a lightly modded 09 challenger RT auto. I was underwealmed by the challenger because it felt too soft in comparison to the mustang as far as acceleration and overall driving experience. In YOUR opinion, between the M6 gt and M6 challenger scatpack, which is a more visceral driving experience? I'm looking for something that's going to make me giggle every time I put the hammer down.

I haven't driven either but from outside looking in I find it hard to justify the 5k...but I have wanted a mustang since I was 8.....or could read. I have been in wrx's since 04 finally might get to my V8..?? Vibe counts, deduction through passion/feel will lead to a better ownership experience then simply "well it's got the best #'s" good work

Now I own a 2012 V6 manual Camaro. Odd thing is I'm a Ford guy too. First car that was mine at age 13 was a 1977 mustang ii 302 V8. Thanks again and keep the reviews coming. I really enjoy watching them.
