@@deminybs In a brand new interview with the WGRD 97.9 FM radio station in Grand Rapids, Michigan, SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor spoke about "Killpop", the third single from the band's latest album, ".5: The Gray Chapter". "You know, what's funny [is] over the last few weeks, I've really gotten everyone's interpretation of what that song means to them, and it's nowhere near what I wrote about," he said. "So it's kind of interesting to hear people's interpretations of what I'm singing about. And I'll be honest with you: the song is my reflection on my relationship with music. That's who the 'she' is. And not just music, but the music industry in general. So there's a love-hate relationship there that really kind of comes into view." Posted April 27, 2015 on Blabbermouth.
The "she" of this song is the music industry. Now, look at the lyrics again and it's a much different song. You go to a basic relationship to start. Knowing what it's about, can totally change how you interpret the lyrics.

You mentioned that you like when they use things like the keg. Clown has said he has carpal tunnel in both wrists from hitting a keg with a bat for 30 years lol. They all have had their share of injuries. Corey has injured both of his eyes from head banging in his mask with his dreads. Great reaction
It is about a toxic relationship. The music industry vs the people that make it what it is and how the music industry treats them and what's happens in that industry. The love hate relationship
Pov every comment section "this is about his love/hate relationship with the music industry", or "you should have reacted to the acoustic version ". I genuinely love slipknot fans, we're all the same 😂.
The thing about the twins in the video is that they look identical at first glance but when they stand side-by-side, facing the same direction, you see they are actually designed to be reflections of each other when they face each other. Which is further metaphor for the love-hate relationship Slipknot has with the music industry itself. Corey can't tell who needs each other more. The band or the record label? So they feed off of each other for their own selfish reasons and THAT makes for a toxic relationship in general. The smacking of the barrel was all Shawn's idea and as much as I do love it too I can't help but appreciate the fact that Shawn now has nerve damage in his right arm from smacking a steel keg with an aluminum bat for 20+ years.
This song is what got me into Slipknot. I love it soo much, I can listen to it all day. The song is anti-pop music industry. "Now die and F* Love Me", that is how the pop music industry treats its fans.
if u want more creepy villainous slipknot songs, there's also Prosthetics, The Virus of Life, and Iowa (this one's a bit extreme though haha) killpop makes me feel all mushy inside too so you're definitely not alone! i looove darker songs like these
Killers Are Quiet(M.F.K.R.), Scissors(Slipknot), Iowa(Iowa), The Virus Of Life( Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses), Gehenna(All Hope Is Gone), Killpop(The Grey Chapter), My Pain(We Are Not Your Kind), and finally we have De Sade(The End So Far)
The girl in question is the music industry, the scraping noise throughout represents a vinyl record rotating, and it's why the girls depicted are made up in black and white and dressed in black vinyl
vibed with that so much. god tier energy. super glad I came across your channel! 😵Btw October Ends has done it again! ttheyir new song is a masterpiece. React to it now!
You should react to a band called Silent Planet. Garrett the singer lyrics are DEEP and the songs express alot of emotion. I would say do PANIC ROOM. Goosebumps every time.
my personal opinion on the end and why there was only one of her at the end, he was saying for the part of her he didnt like to die so she could love him the way he pictured, idk totally just observation
In my opinion, given what you were talking about, since in movies the good guy usually wins, the bad guy has to be convincing. That's where a writers talent has to flourish, we have to be convinced the good guy has no chance. It must take a lot of work.
I know others have probably already said it, but this one’s not - technically - about a girl, it’s about Corey’s love/hate relationship with the music industry.
Wanting the Joker from Dark Knight to win is a wild take. The person who was ready to kill hundreds of innocent Men, Woman and Children. Only for the chaos and the fun of it.
i know they didn't plan it that way but this song for me its kinda like between the vermilion 1 and 2 cause in the vermilion 1 he loves him but he is kinda obsessed too like this song and in killpop he kills her and in the vermilion 2 she is dead and he is sad
Warning, dark brutal honesty ahead!!! You mentioned the dark side in all of us. I personally have always been very attracted to self-harm scars, and that is the exact part of me that this song speaks to.
Yes it’s about his relationship with music and the industry. But it definitely can be interpreted as a toxic relationship. But alas, Ray, there is no “villain.” Only VILLAINS all around.
I mean yes, it's kind of impossible not to sympathize with Magneto. And Colonel Kurtz. Not to mention Captain Hook (he gets his hand chopped off, fed to a croc and Peter Pan's kinda horrible, tbh). The Indominus Rex from Jurrassic World (ohhh, the dinosaur you designed to be extra murder-y is being extra murder-y!? Well isn't that the most amazing thing since "Fire = Hot"). The Grinch, of course . . . Hmm. One, I'm taking this too far. Two, the amount of villains I'm thinking were kinda talking sense is probably not great. 😂
Song is actually about the music industry.
And I love it
song is about whatever people wanna think it's about lol
@@deminybs I agree but I'm going by what the band has actually said it's about in interviews.
@@darindudash6651 ohh, well in that case...post links to what you're saying, I hadn't seen anything

A thousand people are about to suggest Iowa.

Well Iowa has the worlds best love story
"She'" is not a Woman but the musical industry
God damn right.
