Yep. Them bass and drum tracks are mixed so well you can tell that's always been the foundation of a slipknot song. Sic Bass and Drum version is possibly better than Sic itself when one here's how perfectly they play off eachother.
I think I mentioned this before but one common trope in Slipknot videos is people going underground. In their videos it symbolizes burying the past, specifically something related to the person who is going underground. This song is about Corey's time living on the streets after dropping out of high school and all the people he met and formed connections with who he let slip away after the band got signed. So it is full of regret and remorse, but rather than do something about it, he would rather just bury it and move on. Which is how many people deal with things but at the same time they fail to realize how it effects the people on the other side of the equation, or they simply no longer care about those people. If you haven't heard it yet try "Scissors". It is a Maggot fan-favorite and considered a hidden gem of a Slipknot song. It is super-raw and rage-filled. It doesn't follow any common song structure either.
FYI - this music video for 'Left behind' was 1 of 2 versions made... This one was aired on MTV. The second version had a different ending w/ the boy shown back at his job putting on a meat display w/ the tag "Goat meat"... and smiling ominously... This was a huge single for Slipknot back in 2001 for their 2nd album 'Iowa'... I can't believe it has been 20+ years since! The late Paul Gray (bass) and Joey Jordison (drums) were in the band... and sadly now, Chris Fehn (percussion) and Craig Jones (keyboard/ samples) are both out of Slipknot and we got 5 of the original 9.
@@norsegamingtv1686 You said Slipknot isn't Metal 🤣 Corey himself said Slipknot is simply Metal Metal!!! Of course Slipknot is not Nü Metal at all, only Spit It Out is considered Nü Metal, most of their songs have a lot of elements from other subgenre, especially Groove and a little bit of Death, Experimental, and Alternative Metal.
Your channel has become one of my favorites not only bc you are beautiful and cover all kinds of music but mainly bc ur humor and vibe! just subscribed! And Goats are always SUS😂

The opening riffs in this song sound downright evil. I think the only other song of theirs that has similarly wicked sounding riffs is "The Devil in I"
This song isn’t about a murderer, its a song about Corey Taylor when he was homeless. He had made relationships with people that he would soon have to Leave behind.
"Scissors" by Slipknot next please! It's from their Self-Titled album and it's an intense rollercoaster of emotions. It may seem long but it is WORTH it. My favourite Slipknot song and I've heard all of their tracks. Studio version please.
Unhinged is a good word to use to discribe this band throughout the making and touring for this album. Believe it or not, this is one of the tamer songs on it. They were all pretty messed up in a lot of ways at the time of the making of this album. If you want a glimpse into a bit of Corey's childhood and how messed up it was, Metabolic off the same album. Also my favorite track and the one I relate to the best.
Definitely pissed off villain vibes. As I commented below on the question about the goat(s) - Getting someone's goat is an old saying from farmers. If you get someone's goat that means you took something worth something big to a person that has messed with you. Like literally stealing a goat from the shitty neighbor's farm and costing them what makes them money, for example. That's what the visual of all the goats mean on IOWA.
A lot of the video is extremely metaphorical for example at the end the kids still The Rock in the window he's had enough he's going to the seller because the storm is coming, his anger his rage is the storm and what do you do when a storm comes you hide.
Good reaction. You should react to some of the mentions I give you now :) Escape the Fate - Ungratful Bullet for my Valentine - Tears don't fall Black Veil Brides - Goodbye Agony Fields of the Nephilim - Vet for the Insane Xandria - Soulcrusher I think you like it and you will not regret it :)
Comments on the villianous vibes/serial killer origin of the kid from the butcher shop. Doesn't seem to notice that it was the kid's 'first victim' that opened hostilities by throwing a rock at the kid through the window of the kid's house; the wreck of a home, that was probably wonderful in its prime, which the kid does his best to support with the job at the butcher shop, in a society that obviously feels no qualms about a kid working in a butcher shop to support himself. Or perhaps the butcher is his legal guardian and is capitalizing on the free labor he can extort from his ward, the whole time dreading the kid's talent and passion for the bloody work. But he does it for free, so why consider the kid's mental state when he's an enthusiastic, profit-boosting slave? I'm of the opinion that there aren't _any_ good guys in this story, but some of these guys are worse than the others. On many levels. Lyrically, you have the scattered thoughts of a grieving, paranoid, isolated soul warning the insentient seeming monsters around him that his boundaries _are_ inviolate, defense _will_ be swift, and that they are advised to adjust their engagement ranges accordingly. The image of Slipknot: _Are_ they monsters? Or do they _present_ as monsters to keep the true monsters from realizing they are prey? Answer that question honestly, dear reader. Know you are also not maskless. And in the performance scenes, you see that the goats are all fairly calm despite the madness going on around them, and I have to conclude that it probably wasn't all that loud when the goats were on set, and that they had rehearsed with the goats, in costume and fake rain, for a week or two before filming so that all the active nervous systems present would get used to the lunacy.
Im noe a vocalist or singing coach, but as a fans of Slipknot, yes i do feel relate because i too sometimes want to focus on one aspect (vocal, drum or guitar/bass) yet the music video keeps getting me sidetracked somehow 🤣
I don't think "let it all slip away" means be a serial killer. The song is called left behind..... the line " cacify and slowly soaked in lime" this line means you're not progressing in life... you're at a stand still and the lime is acid so... this is slowly dissolving you as a person aka slowly causing you to be depressed and slowly losing yourself over time. The line " let it all slip away" Is saying let the anger go. Over time you have built up anger on society... like having bullies meeting horrible people....greedy people and selfish people. Pretty much meeting many people that don't care about you. there's a linke where he talks about robotic .. he's saying people are fake... they are like robots have no emotion but will use emotion to manipulate you... aka to infiltrate you. The song is about taking all that anger and let it go... release it... some can say oh it's about killing people... It's not wrong but It's not right on what the message is getting crossed over. The music video adds more info and details to the song. At the end it rains... symbolizing that you need to cry it out. It's saying you have a lot of anger and to get rid of it you need to cry it out.. you need to let it out.. by this you can cry it out... smash stuff... but you need to accept the world that it is and you have to move around life dealing with these hard facts. No one is going to be there to help you or be nice to you so don't expect it. Just accept you were left behind and move on.
Corey's voice on iowa was fucking bruuuuutal
Prime Corey

Facts bro
Full of hate and anger. Iowa was their most unique album ever. They can't make heavier album since Iowa. And that's his vocals glory days
Slipknot was at their peak when Joey and Paul were still around.
Oh for sure. The OG Slipknot died with those two. Especially Paul
Yep. Them bass and drum tracks are mixed so well you can tell that's always been the foundation of a slipknot song.
Sic Bass and Drum version is possibly better than Sic itself when one here's how perfectly they play off eachother.
While I'm here, do you feel the same way about Mate Feed Kill Repeat....? Or did you not actually say what you meant....?
Saw them live 20 years ago, few months after vol.3 release.
I remember a great show and really good sound.
They lost a lot of class when both of them left/died. Now they basically are Corey and Shawn's band and feel like a bad slipknot cover band

Everytime I hear this track I’m taken back 20+years to my childhood. Such a banger, shame their edge has now been dulled.
My favourite slipknot song. Love this band, I have since high school. Rip Joey. Best drummer ever
Shawn's best mask imo.
idk there's something inherently weird AND funny about the original one. its smiling too much
best everything
His best mask ever!
I still prefer the first one. That one for me encapsulated how sinister clowns appear. It didn't require anything evil or bizarre looking.
I honestly think his new masks are ugly AF.
actually there's another version where that kid goes to hide at a basement and covers his face with goat's blood
No joke I worked at a meat market when I was 16-18. Saw this on MTV and loved it lol.
Love everything about this song. The lyrics, the video, the masks, the riff, everything is perfection.

I find it endearing that she calls him Shawn and not Clown.
I saw this in mtv and mom looked me and said they got your back ❤❤❤
