There is a behind the scenes video where shawn (Clown) explains what the video is about and that each member decides how they want to die. My favorite is when Chris said birds because he is actually afraid of birds lol.
Out of all their songs, this one is the one I relate to the most and it's gotten me out of a few bad situations in my life. This is straight from Corey's mouth: "The Devil In I' is really about the war inside yourself," he said. "Trying not to give into defeatism, trying not to give into negativity, trying not to give up basically. It's a struggle. It's one of the hardest thing you can do, is to give in to that side of yourself."
I was gonna say, I remember hearing or reading about what we see them doing is basically killing a part of themselves, but didn't know it was about overcoming fears and not giving into that defeat. The more you learn 👍
I second that, for me it also reminds of the rock bottom I've hit, and the inability to explain to myself why we're here, why I've led us here, and why do we suffer now without having anyone to blame - inability to let go of the things we've done, be them wrong or just outright stupid, and accepting that we made the best decisions we could based on the experience we had. It's perfectly fine to make mistakes, no need to blame some part of me for that - I'm not the devil anymore.
Damn that's a deep way of looking at it too. I take solace (is this the right word?) in the fact that each time I have to struggle with the inner demons, I become stronger as a human being. Maybe saying it gives me hope is a better way to say it now that I think about it. @@necree509
This reminds me of a topic Jordan Peterson spoke about. Something along the lines of you need to bur the dead wood in order to grow new branches or something like that and I feel like that is similar to the struggle we have with our selves as humans in general. It's such a work of art and it's one of the many reasons they have such a strong fan base.@@markbaltazar6916
I don’t know if you noticed, but in every death scene, they’re wearing masks from the previous tour. Symbolizing the death of the old versions of themselves
I love how dark they go. The visuals are always on point. Did you catch who the two wheelchair pincushions were? The two newbs! Alessandro Venturella on bass (previously the guitarist of Cry for Silence) and Jay Weinberg on drums (previously from The Reveling, Against Me! and the son of American drummer Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band). I love fun facts.
Recently started getting back onto slipknot from my younger years and as a result your page has popped onto my feed. Have very much enjoyed watching you start with psychosocial and gradually learn more and more about them. And enjoying them. Great vids
This is probably the most powerful Slipknot song ever recorded, not for the music itself...but the lyrics and music video. Amazing Analysis of the song ❤
This is one of my all time favorite slipknot songs to hear and play. I didn't know that they all decided their own death style based on real life worst fears. It seemed to represent the old slipknot falling away and the new form rising up after with the 2 new guys stepping in to fill in the voids left after the departure of 2 original members. They come back with new jumpsuits, masks, somewhat different sound, different visuals and even new instruments. This is where Jim switches from the telecaster style to the new jazzmaster style and Mick from his B.C. Rich and Ilbanez to his new Jackson soloist. RIP Paul and Joey
I miss Paul and Joey so much.. albeit the hate they receive, it's awesome they continue to do what Paul would have them do. Create beautiful music and art
I absolutely love how, watching Ray's first Slipknot reaction video, she was super shocked and almost scared it appeared. Whereas several slipknot reviews later she's right into it! Its Great!
I love this slipknot song. I’ve always found it so hard yet so sonicly pleasing. But the video is definitely a distraction for new listeners. Live, it’s so dope. Clown throws down on a keg, and it just gets you pumped.
I wanna see her react to some old school Slipknot such as SIC, Wait and Bleed, Spit it Out, and Eyeless! That album in 1998 was so damn good! It is what has made me a forever fan of them
I love how you have learned the names of the band and how you have been watching the videos you have learned all the things about them and become a fan.
Fun fact: the current drummer is the son of Max Weinberg, the guy who drummed for and led Conan O'Brien's band (and Bruce Springsteen lmao). He's got a UA-cam channel here (Jay Weinberg) and he has a ton of Drum Cams from live shows.
This was the first slipknot song i ever heard and i can safely say the music video traumatized me, i did become a fan later tho and now its one of my favourites
So the deaths in the video are them in their old masks, so they're killing their old selves to make way for this new chapter in the band. Then the two people in the wheelchair who get stabbed were the two new members that joined after Paul passed away and Joey left. So their "death" was their initiation into the band by the other band members.
in case anyone didn't know it, it was directed by Clown and he asked how everyone would like to die. it resulted to this; and Sid wasn't eating others' fingers, it's his own fingers. he imagined himself dying eating his own body.
The band was always well-established with special effects in everything. They've been a band since like 1999 so they got to keep people interested 40/50 years old now including me 🤘🤘🤘
This is only the second time I heard this song. Actually listening to the lyrics this time around is so powerful. This definitely one of my faves from them. Oh and Ray….enough pausing at the last minute!!!! GOSH!!! Loved the reaction ❤
The studio version is pretty cool, but I prefer it live. That version is sensational, detail that Corey's voice is angelic and demonic at the same time.
"Allegorical" means using characters or events in a story, play, picture, or other work to represent moral, religious, or political qualities or ideas. For example, "The dancers allegorically represent a human failure to connect". Allegories are used in storytelling to communicate something symbolic, whether it be moralistic or political. Allegories have both a literal and symbolic meaning. The literary device personification, giving human qualities to nonhuman things, is often employed in allegories, especially in fables.
Your reactions are so Genuine, I appreciate the authenticity. I absolutely love this song, this one and unsainted are some of my favorites from slipknot
@9 min referring to peeling the mask, i always saw that as his fear, not the explosion at the end. The fear being that hes nothing WITHOUT the mask and therefore the face underneath is meaningless, which I think is also why the mask and head remain intact after the explosion. Cool reaction vid!
Ok this video was symbolic, the 2 guys in the wheel chairs driving around are the new members being brought in the group while seeing what the original members are going through since the og bass player Paul grey died and the og drummer Joey jordison was diagnosed with Ms and had to leave the band. But each member is dying inside their own way
She will eventually but you know how this works, shes gonna only react to the mainstream stuff or stuff that has Official video, as you can see in all of her videos, I expect her to react to Left behind From that album and thats it since its the only one with official music video, and with some luck probably disasterpieces People = sh.t
That was an amusing reaction, but probably not for the reasons you originally intended. Watching your facial expression alternate between "this is awesome" and "horror" was about what I expected when I saw what video you were reacting to. Glad that you liked it in the end, it's probably my personal favorite song of theirs. If you're looking for something less intense to react to after that, I'll suggest "Dead Inside" by Muse or "Rolling 7s" by Dirty Honey (rock band with great vocals).
The video is mostly them coming to terms with the fact that their old selves need to die, and they decide to give them a fitting end after everything is said and done. This was also after both Paul and Joey passed away (but before Chris departed) so the two in the wheelchair are the new members Jay (drums) and Allesandro (bass) and in the video they kind of "jump them in" as an initiation to joining the band. btw "jumping in" is what street gangs do to new members as an initiation rite, where they basically beat the hell out of you to see if you can survive or not. If you survive then you are in. Apparently in Slipknot, they stab you to death instead.
@rayactions hey check out Corey Taylor - Home/ Zzyzx Rd. [ Live At The Forum] Promise you will love it! I possibly cried hearing it, and I hadn't cried since Groott died.. 😢 so yeah

They have released 6 albums from 2002-2017

There is a behind the scenes video where shawn (Clown) explains what the video is about and that each member decides how they want to die. My favorite is when Chris said birds because he is actually afraid of birds lol.
I am pretty sure that the video is about the way of death that they fear the most, not a choice of death.
