And that makes me feel not so great, getting me in a negative spiral. As you've mentioned, as I'm still around apparently I've managed to get myself out of these. But I'm constantly anxious about the next one lurking around the corner. As someone who has been struggling with accepting myself and the life I’ve built thus far, it was incredibly helpful to learn about the pillars of self-esteem. I’ve been feeling really down about how my integrity has slowly eroded over the years, and confused about why it feels so hard to improve. Knowing that I’ve been too focused on the end goal, seemingly oblivious to the first steps in solving my problems, is a total paradigm shift for me. Thanks again!
I don't compare myself to other people and where they are at right now. I compare myself to a grander scale understanding of all the various paths a person can take, and where those should lead, in what amount of time. The more I do this, the more comfortable I feel with where I'm at now, and the easier it is to make gradual improvements.

31:05 I have kept on thinking about this since I last watched this the other day. I can't say I have ever looked at a cloud and that "that's an imperfect cloud" nor to a wave. Some are more interesting, or I see odd looking things in it, but that's how the human brain do, we try to find faces in things. Thank you for your videos, I have been in an extremely bad pit in life. Thank you. 🐬 I'm a trans woman, and have been watching your essays and pieces for a little month now. You speak from a grounded perspective, which makes your material far more approachable. I believe you elevate your craft beyond the teachings of a typical "self-help" guru. You inspire me. 🐸 While it wasn't the focus of this video, I want to highlight your hour long "master class" on story-craft. In the video, you touched on an idea you entertained of monetizing the video. You wanted to slap a few on the video, and hide the knowledge from those who couldn't pay. The fact you didn't is testament to your character. Stay dangerous. The internet may not be real, but you are. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you do. Thanks for the unique style of conveyance. Good and bad advice is a mixed bag out there, but it seems too much good advice typically gets said one way without explanation.
🐉🐬💅 I took notes on my journal like in a lecture. my biggest takeaways are these: to not demonize negativity, i think i've started to verge on that after reading how to win friends and influence people. to engage in anonymous creative work. the definitions of strength and weakness, to rank my values, to read the fall and ego is the enemy. i'll ask myself more the question of "did i dismiss an achievement because i didn't see it as good as another?" guiltyy. and many other light bulb moments of course this is a gradual work and I can't do it all at once so i'll add it to my journaling sessions and will try to reflect more on my self esteem in general. very valuable stuff as always thank you so much!
🐲🐬 🐦🔥 Thanks for talking about narcissism at the end. I believe part of what makes it difficult for me to improve my self-esteem is the fear of becoming like that. As always, great content!!
This are some of my thoughts and maxims that have helped me improve in the feelings discussed here. 1. Love yourself it's not the same as treat yourself with love. For me beginning to treat myself like I would treat my best friends or loved ones have propelled my growth and steadiness in difficult situations. 2. Define yourself in as loose terms as possible. Don't limit yourself with stereotypes or terms like. I am a scientist or I am an artist. Because I find that then you feel cognitive dissonance when even considering deviating from your own definition of yourself. Keep your self image blurry, don't worry about who you are, worry about what you do, what your values are and where are you trying to get to. 3. Self reflection, consciousness and mindfulness. You can't understand yourself unless you let yourself experience all your feelings. Stop whatever you are doing and relax, exercise, go for a walk or meditate. Sit and ponder about your situation, how things made you feel and try to figure why. You will go deep. Meditation is a great way of getting your brain to hit you with your trauma and feeling as if you were suddenly illuminated by the cosmos. Practice it, learn to do it, it will get easier over time. As everything, it is difficult to find the path to better places, the key is to take it as a game, explore yourself and others, face the fear of changing your life, and explore your oldest dreams and passions. You will be surprised at how far you can reach. Buena suerte, wish you all the best.
i’m a void, I don’t know what I’m doing and where to go. I’m trapped in a house of mirrors maze, full of excessive self-reflection and overanalyzing every little step I do with no way to ever get out of this this hellscape that is my consciousness.
@@vivvy_0 the nature of exploration can feel overwhelming, as we venture to places we are not familiar with. To face this the explorer attempts to calm herself down, looks out into the world instead of into herself, and with the calm that every situation can be dealt with one way or the other proceeds in the direction she finds best. When she discovers that said direction did not take her to the place she wanted to be in she proceeds to explore the other paths, as she knows that the real value it's in the act of exploration more than in the place said exploration leads to.
I should have been doing my simulations class assignment, but I am glad I watched this instead. i think I kinda already knew most of those things but I never actually realized them, as it wasn't spoken out. Thank you so much for this video, I really needed it exactly now.
Ego is not my enemy it's part of the human being that I live in. But my ego works for me much as a horse and I'm the rider who has control of his horse.
I've always felt that narcissism is a compensation for a more deeply submerged and profound self-loathing. The same is true for bullying in my experience, but for insecurity rather than self-loathing. This is why you cant necessarily rely on interviews or questionairres that so often predominate psychological literature/data. A close observer of humans would see plainly that a narcissist does not have genuine love for themselves. If they did, they would be able to offer genuine love for others. Love is a connecting force, it is not synonymous with an inflated ego. Trying to make bullies or narcissists feel bad as a way of correcting their behavior is unlikely to be very productive, unless you first repair their wounded relationship to self which is likely to take deep trauma and attachment healing work. When they have a secure base of inherent worth and value, they are more able to genuinely explore the ways their behavior is affecting others and for guilt to be a productive emotion.

@@pattiaufzack ahaha, let's make this happen! wouldn't be too bad to record although that could be famous last words. And as long as you comment I'll respond comrade 🫶
Your videos add so much value to my personal reflections and studies - my sincere thank you to you 🙏
Your channel is literally life-changing! Everything you say is so applicable and well-spoken! Can't tell you how glad I am I found your videos and how much I love your work!
this video literally came in the perfect moment in my life, love you
Outstanding.
So on point with the destructive repercussion of social media.
I don't care what this guy is talking about. His voice is so soothing. I just listen to him every day before bed.
I never left the chair, 100% strapped on I really enjoy your points of view on this topic and honestly a lot of them I resonate with. I'm always on the cusp between being prideful and becoming lazy, and something that's always haunted me (conditioning from my childhood) was to never become average because then you become content with your life, and thereby settle for that instead of grow. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of knowledge!
I have enough self-esteem. Enough to know the answers are inside me and as I do discover them there is no need for me to share them, as we all become ready when we're ready.
Thanks man ! You and Dr. K are my constants on youtube

I have kept on thinking about this since I last watched this the other day.
I can't say I have ever looked at a cloud and that "that's an imperfect cloud" nor to a wave. Some are more interesting, or I see odd looking things in it, but that's how the human brain do, we try to find faces in things.
But I digress, no, I have not once looked at these things and thought they're wrong.
And it's not every day something healthy sticks in my head easily.
Thank you for your videos, I have been in an extremely bad pit in life. And I appreciate your calm, simple and fun way you explain how the brain shouldn't run on bad memories, bad thoughts, bs people have put in it and the brain thinks it's okay to keep on keeping on.
Nice big hug for you. ♥️

Thank you for your time and attention seriously thank you 🥲
I love that you leave lots in your video. Keeps you real.
🐉🀄🐬 Dear Lewis, you may feel justifiably proud of your work in this channel;Excellent and getting better each time. Thank you 🤗
🐉🐬😺
Thank you for putting this one out in particular. I've been going through a crisis of self, and it helps to have a (seemingly) sane voice reassuring me that the process is painful but worth it.
😇
In Polish language there is a distinction between pride = duma (value of achievementl - healthy and good) and pride = pycha (value of oneself and putting yourself above others because of it - that's the deadly sin)
32:49 Out here asking the real questions under the guise of mental health. Well played Newel
Also, as a side note: Assuming the answer is yes, does this make you the only guy in England that's not a twat, or the only twat in England without a plane? XD
Actually, YOUR videos make me feel inspired.
I am starting a month long tech detox today and aim to re-focus my mind on my love of playing instruments, reading, and sports. This has been immensely helpful in focusing me on that goal and I love your videos in general
One of the best video about self-esteem; thank you ! The previous video about self image is very good too ! 🐉🐬♥
I love listening to this guy when l spiralling out of my mind. I listen and write down things that inside coincide with current life experiences.
"Social media is a platform to tell you WHAT to want". Well said!
Here's another gem from another channel
"You cannot buy yourself into a new personality "
I just found this channel through this video, and it's amazing! Thank you so much for your work!
It took me almost two days to actively listen to it and understand it. It was really nice to hear all of the things u explained in a deeper level.
Thank you for your efforts 🐉🐬
🐉🐬👀
Love your channel! I'm from Brazil, passing through a lot of bad things right now and your video became very useful to understand some things and deal with it in a healthier way. Thanks a lot!
🐉 This channel has been a blessing for my journey. I am grateful for the many hours of advice you have freely provided on this platform.
(And cause hey, why not, I'm gonna add a super special extra fancy extra credit emoji. You're welcome or whatever I guess.)
Forge your path, and destiny will follow! Much love!! ☯️
I discovered your content last week and it helps me draw out a better me - so first of all thank you >> less pleasure for meat lovers) rather than priority (animal > human). You could obviously inject more nuance there, and have a different opinion on the veganism question, but just for the sake of demonstrating
Another example could be valuing my own well being over others, but willing to forgo some me-time to help a friend in an acute need
It's a new dawn, it's a new day, I've trimmed my mustache. You're so alive man, I'm really happy for you.
You are setting up your channel for huge success my man. Keep the awesome work!
Made it this far; I just wanted to say I'll never be dependent on the books or the authors but I definitely take note of those highlights Most importantly!
Thank you for sharing your truths, I’ve passed this on to some great people. I really enjoy your work, be well!
I absolutely love your videos! So much knowledge, explained so well that it's easily digestible. That's a huge skill!
Thanks for the unique style of conveyance. Good and bad advice is a mixed bag out there, but it seems too much good advice typically gets said one way without explanation.
my fav yt channel right now ur the man
I like the way you express your ideas and knowledge. Thank you and keep up the good work! 💯😊
LET'S GO! Hearing you took notes makes me happy. Thank you for your dedication :)
@@NewelOfKnowledge I also took notes: more than 13000 characters lol (I added some thoughts from me)
@@dylanl6445 13000 CHARACTERS AHAHA! awesome stuff.
Thank you for presenting such helpful topics we all struggle with. And thanks for all the book suggestions too. 🐬🐲💕
33:05 took me out 💀🤣😂. Great video btw!
I comment on videos so rarely. So I want to say thank you. You helped man.
🐲🐬 🐦🔥
Thanks for talking about narcissism at the end.
Thank you for this. 🙏 I have sent it to a person I wish got it sooner. Perhaps things might have been different. Just glad its here now.
🐉🐬🔥 Always taking notes and coming back to previous videos, seriously thank you so much for helping us understand everything better. Looking forward to your content each week 😊
Finally subscribed.
Love your voice, and your sense of humor, and your lovely take on psychology with a philosophy spin that agrees with a lot of the viewpoints I have myself. And I'd love to share your content around to my friends, but I find myself in a bit of a pickle because I know my friends... and they have ridiculously short attention spans.
So! While I personally love your content and don't mind engaging with longer form content, please consider maybe... boiling down or otherwise compartmentalizing your content into some sub-twenty minute episodes, perhaps with multiple parts as need be. It's really good stuff though!
Keep up the great work!
Great video! I agree with everything apart from the statement that bullies and successful people have self esteem, I don't think that is always the case.
Genuinely one of the most helpful videos i have every watched. Have a like
🐉🐬🐝 - as usual, high quality work. Particularly loved the definitions of strength and weakness. We just need a fundraiser for those RPGs ;-)
Despite having the urge to vomit during watching, your content has been a positive influence on my life. Cheers
why puke lol
Good to know.
🐉🐬🗿 quickly became my fav youtuber, cheers from Denver. i also really enjoyed what your mom had to say!
The problem is when you dont feel ok, it doesnt feel like its ok to not feel ok, otherwise you'd feel ok.
Every time I watch your video, I take notes! I am learning a lot! I saw your first video on the beach about I forget but it was really cool!
