The reason there was no Mother 4 is because the story is done, concluded, finished. Itoi intentionally ended it with Porky in the Absolutely Safe Capsule so he would be as good as defeated. Impossible to bring back. He wanted it to be a full conclusion. He said in an interview that he would love to play fans' contributions if they decide to fill in the Mother series gap themselves. Sticking to his word, he has played Undertale.

I absolutely adore ARMS! It has so much stylistic charm. The lively music, the artwork, the creative premise, the diverse cast of characters, the lore, etc. They have a solid framework here with so much potential. It would be a huge waste not to make a sequel that fixes the issues people had with the first. Add more content and give players more reason to want to play it. Make it happen, Nintendo!

The issue isn’t it’s quality, it’s actually one of the best games on switch while you can play it. The issue is that there’s nothing to do. You can play single player for 5 hours tops, and 2 hours multiplayer each time you have friends over or play with family

The game itself is quite fun, but if there's one thing it needs, it's a hook. Replay value, something more to do and something more engaging. It may be fun, but it's admittedly bare bones. I really want to see another ARMS game, I would kill for it, but if that were the case, it needs something to do.

I remember Nintendo announcing that New Horizons would have a different pace than previous ones so you would take over a year to finish it. We all thought that was great until we realized there was no progress to be done in the first place... The store only upgrades once. Once!! That's insane. I remember everyone asking, "what's the bell threshold to get another upgrade?" Or, "how many times do I need to buy something from Kicks or Label before they open a store in my town?" Only to find out that was never gonna happen :(

"Splatoon 3 still gets post-release support" ...duh? it's a multiplayer shooter game that has realtime online multiplayer events as one of its biggest focal points. of course they've gotta update the game to put in data for splatfests, big runs, or even just bug fixes and weapon changes. i really don't think mentioning splatoon's update cycle really makes sense for this otherwise strong argument

    • @shuwarindreamin

not to mention the splatoon team is the same team that works on animal crossing - it's definitely fault on nintendo's part for not being able to allocate enough resoures for both series, but ultimately it's a lil off to compare the update cycle of splatoon to that of animal crossing, especially since splatoon quite literally has a confirmed end to the update cycle that was announced literally before its launch - it's one year from now

I feel like the expectation of having constant updates in modern games is a bit crazy. No Animal Crossing prior to New Horizons had that, so im honestly not surprised NH doesnt have it either. Unless people want a mobilefication of their games (which is what Pocket Camp is for), or even a fortnitefication with seasons and battle passes and battle royales (kinda like Splatoon 3, which you did mention in the video). Which is, just. Silly to think something like that would apply to Animal Crossing. I know NH is a bit disappointing in regards to the Animal Crossing formula, at least i see it that way, but the thought of it having constant updates was just never something that really crossed my mind. Animal Crossing games are supposed to be ready to be fully played since day one releases. Which is why I can see why NH's treatment is so disappointing to people. Idk. I dont really feel like there's much to panic here. New Leaf also only had one update, which was the Welcome Amiibo in 2016, and it was huuuuuuge. And its why i still play it to this day lmao. I know it'd be awesome to have something like that for NH, but at this point i feel like its just unrealistic. To Nintendo, Animal Crossing is supposed to be a one and done kinda deal. They updated it in 2021 because it wasnt the full game experience (which admitedly sucks). I feel like thats it, you know.
Now, just to add one correction. The 3D All Stars version of Super Mario 64 wasn't updated after 25 years just to remove the "so long gay bowser" line, like you said in the video. They used the Shindou version of the game for 3D All Stars, which is the updated version of SM64 that Japan got in like 1997 or something like that. Which is the version that, alongside with changing the line, removes a few glitches like the BLJs. It wasnt something they did just for the sake of it, they just used the newest updated version of the game that they already had.
As far as neglected series goes, I feel like the Rhythm Heaven series would be a great contender also. Last time we had a game was in 2015 for the 3DS, and it was just a mega collection of all the other games. Which unfortunately seems like a great way to end a series now that I think about it. Idk. Rhythm Heaven is such an unique spin on the rhythm games genre that i just hope it doesnt end like this. Rhythm Heaven Fever for the Wii is still greatly played today, you know. It's sad to let it die just like that. I feel like Wario's 2D games (the Wario Land series) could be discussed too. And, of course, Tomodachi Life.
Also, just another opinion which probably isnt that great. Not all games need to become huge franchises that get games yearly like Pokemon. And i know thats a bit crazy to say in today's world but i feel like. Idk. Franchises like Earthbound told their story. The story is complete, you know. If im not mistaken the creator himself said something along those lines. I think its better to leave things than to create another Starfox situation where it keeps getting brought back in a half baked kind of way that the fans are never satisfied with because, well, who would ?? Its truly sad that Mother 3 never got an oficial translation/localization, but, to me, a new sequel is not the way to go about it. Of course the franchise's story needs to be told (and a new game keeps the story alive), I know that. Which is why I think Nintendo should indeed rerelease or even put it on Nintendo Switch Online.
Anyway i feel like i talked too much. I love your channel btw, i hope you dont see this comment as inherently negative. I tried being polite while presenting my points.

Really hit the nail on the head.
    For AC:
While the newest game had a lot of new features that added some great gameplay, the execution on some of these new features was really lacking or even took away from the goals of the original design, in addition to the game missing many major features of the previous games.
IMO the extent at which you can decorate, combined with the grindy-ness of crafting is totally opposite from the original intent of the game to be a chill life simulator. It's devolved into a game where you grind nonstop for money and resources and spend 100s of hours trying to get the perfect design. At the same time, they neglected various aspects that play to the daily life sim aspect, such as dialogue, random events, and holidays.
In order to get more back to its roots they really need to not necessarily dial back decorating as much as they just need to make it much much easier with tons of QOL features and dial back on grind to get items in the first place big time, all while greatly increasing the effort spent on the daily life aspect by improving dialogue and villager interactions, more story/friendship based progression with special characters, and much more holidays / events to spice up the game day over day and week over week. With this, the game would meet much more happily in the middle of being focused on both decorating and daily life rather than its current 95% decorating, 5% chill daily life sim.
    For Pokemon:
It doesn't take a genius to tell the newer pokemon games have really been lacking. Sword and Shield in its final state with DLC honestly isn't too bad, but the main part that's wrong is the fact that with DLC it has about as much content as Ultra Sun/Moon, while being more than double the price ($40 vs $90), and not even being graphically better.
SV however is just an absolute travesty. Nobody in their right mind can argue that performance and visual wise, the game is abhorrent. A large amount of the game would be considered lazy visually even by Gamecube standards.
In addition to this, the game was made to be Open World, yet it lacks literally any thought being put into this major design change. Fans for generations have been thinking about how cool an open world pokemon _COULD_ be, as well as all the problems that could arise from being able to explore freely from the get-go, and solutions to those problems.
Issues like being able to catch pokemon too powerful for the section of the game you're on, being able to train against strong pokemon to level too quickly, and gyms having to scale with your level all were blatantly ignored and the game's difficulty feels like a joke if you take advantage of the exploration, train a bit in some high level areas, and then beat the high level gyms first. Not only do the gyms / evil team members / giant pokemon not scale with your level, it doesn't even tell you what order is recommended to challenge them in, and if you beat the 3rd gym first it just feels like a waste of your time to go back and fight the 1st and 2nd gyms.
    For Mario Kart:
I honestly never liked Mario Kart 8 from day one and was right away hoping the next one would ditch the anti grav and go back to normally designed tracks that have much more off-track areas to boost over for shortcuts instead of just guard rails as everything is technically in the sky. Very disappointed my least favorite MK game is the one that's stuck around the longest of any game in the franchise, with no new games (not counting home circuit and tour) since 2015.
Between camera turn rate not feeling right at high CCs (makes memorization more necessary), bad item randomness (low places frequently get bad items, high places frequently get items that shouldn't even be possible like triple red shells in 1st or 2nd place), mushrooms in general feeling awful due to lack of boostable areas on courses / speed boost being pitiful on higher ccs / moving too fast being a disadvantage on the mostly curvy stages / all while being like half the items in the pool, and I personally would prefer if you could just play whatever character / cart you want and decide your stats (although that's been an issue of mine for quite a few games, not just this one).

I think the problem with this is that when talking about animal crossing or Pokémon you’re talking from a place of superiority. These are top selling highly advertised, highly merchandised series. I think rather than “Nintendo neglect these series” a better thing to say is that Nintendo isn’t very good at maintaining its own properties. Less clickbait, I know but still something that’s not said often because Nintendo is still seen by most to be one of the better gaming companies. Nintendo favors some more than others in some aspects and develops more in others than some. Like you stated, Mario is their main guy but even he can’t get new games or good updates to some of his series. But to say that Mario fans are being neglected sounds ridiculous when every Nintendo direct has some mention of him. Similarly to say Animal Crossing is being neglected after a year and half of updates sounds ridiculous to fire emblem fans who get half a year of updates after launch at most. There are problems with how they handle their series across the board and I think it’s important to focus on that rather than who gets more love than who. Because that just makes communities that should be working together fight amongst themselves.

I really liked this video, but I did have a bit of feedback. You say at 11:34 that some of these games get away with having a cool concept but don't really expand on it all too much for what it's worth price-wise, which is a VERY GOOD point, but then use examples that actively contradict your point, such as Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Captain Toad, and Woolly World. The point of these games are meant to be meticulously crafted dioramas for you to explore and find everything in - the reason why the main campaign is so short is because you mainly go through and get the main objectives to complete the story. And in the case of Kirby and Yoshi, the levels are so fun and creative themselves, that they actively make you want to go back and play through them again and again. So, all of these games DO have a LOT of replay value.
You then specifically examine Kirby starting at 11:45, saying that they mainly use the child-friendly brand recognition to pump out games. And that is ABSOLUTELY not the case. There may be LOTS of Kirby games on the Switch, but they're all of very good quality, and I have bought and enjoyed all of them! Specifically, Forgotten Land (the one you use an example) is a complete revolution of the classic Kirby formula, creating a new 3D experience that melds classic and fresh gameplay really well in a VERY creative experience. It's no Breath of the Wild, but that's not what it's trying to be.
And the reason why there are so many Kirby games in the first place is because they are mainly developed by HAL Laboratories, not Nintendo - the latter just publishes it. You use this at 10:45 to juxtapose against the lack of support for other games, which is fair point, but I feel you just use the wrong example.
Hope you don't take this as being negative, just wanted to offer whatever feedback I can! Regardless, this was a well-made video!😄

Heck it was bearly game at launch. I am not a fan of the ROAD MAP type of update. Like different bugs and fish for the changing season. Holidays and events. Yeah, always been there in the game in some way. Imagine if they did that type of thing to Zelda or a Mario game. Road map to adding levels/dungeons, power ups and items to the game. People would revolute!
By the time they added things to make it a full game of Animal Crossing. People were burned out and bored. I thought the newer games usually add or at least try to maintain the standard of the pervious. But you think simce it is Nintendo why to have to wait so long to have a completed game?

Basing this comment/explanation solely off the thumbnail, the title feels either misleading or using the term "neglect" in an incorrect or biased manner. Animal Crossing isn't being neglected, it's just finished receiving main support. Mario Kart isn't being neglected; 8 is a fantastic, extremely well selling game that's literally receiving its last wave in the current DLC pack and has even started receiving character/vehicle balance patches that shows a lot of care is being given to the game even over a decade after its original Wii U release. The only one in the thumbnail fitting of actually being neglected is Pokemon because TPCI is forcing Game Freak's hand to release games with unreasonable time constraints plus Game Freak seemingly refusing to increase the size of their miniscule staff to better handle said time constraints, resulting in unfinished games being forced out for merchandising and multimedia release purposes and because they know we'll still consume their product regardless of how poorly handled it is.
All that aside, while I'd disagree that New Horizons was neglected, I can and will agree with anyone who says that the game is underwhelming, especially when comparing New Horizons vs. New Leaf. But I would also agree with anyone who says the game is great, because I personally believe the game is both fantastic for what it is and aimed to be, but also a little underwhelming in that it could've done just a bit more, even if only some more quality of life improvements to finalize the product post-release. Or, like... give us actual villagers instead of a bunch of collectable wind up dolls with only 10 different wacky and incredible™ catchphrases.
I hope this comment doesn't come off as rude or aggressive... Now to watch and enjoy this video regardless because Rocket makes rad content 🙏

Releasing a new game just for new levels would be strange, it just made more sense to put it in a DLC. Maybe in the future you could drastically improve graphics - but that could be an update to Mario Kart 8, too. There is no reason to start from scratch. Besides, it's good for us, isn't it? I think the pokemon rant is well meaning and I even agree with points, but the development team on SV was larger than BotW. Nearly 500 people worked on that game for 3 years, it absolutely wasn't a small production. The issue isn't the resources, its the team and likely the people financing these projects pushing for larger and larger scope from a team that just last gen, in 2013, made their first 3d game ever. The brand size, the market expectations and the team inexperience with tight time tables are really the wider issue.

Considering AC gets a mainline release semi-regular and they put in a LOT of work for it, I would never in a million years say they neglect the series.

The thing about Mario 3D All Stars
Super Mario 64's "So long, Gay Bowser" line was removed because the game is based off the Shindou edition, and that version of the game features rumble support, and that version added the "Buh bye!" line that Mario says.

There is a lot of misunderstanding on how Nintendo EPD works here. If every game were the same scope as Breath of the Wild you would only see safest series as the Game too 800 people six years to develop. Also very few games are developed by either Nintendo or one of their subsidiaries(Retro, Monolith, Next Level, 1UP Studios). Some series were tried but kept getting less and less sales like F-Zero and don't have a producer pushing for new entries like Metroid or Pikmin. Sometime Nintendo doesn't have enough developers to develop everything and priority is placed on thing that series that sell or series that don't nessary sell but have the blessing of someone high up at Nintendo. Larger games often take 4-5 years to develop even when things do go smoothly.
Kirby gets a lot of love because HAL owns 50% of the franchise and gets a significant amount of money from merchandise. HAL is almost always going to work on a Kirby game if it is being published by Nintendo, anything else is going to be small. Same thing to a lesser extant with Intelligent Systems and Fire Emblem; they want that big game to be the one they Co-own with Nintendo. Neither Intelligent Systems or HAL are owned by Nintendo
The reason we stopped getting updates for Animal crossing was because most of the developers move on to Splatoon 3 as the Same development group works on both. There weren't many developers left to continue work on it. That is why we got Amiibo Festival instead on the Wii U, most of the developers were working on Splatoon.
Pokemon's problem is the very short and ambitious time table where they have to hire freelancers to work on the game in short order. There just isn't time or development manpower to get a new Pokemon game out every three years, some of the problems were likely caused by too many cooks in the kitchen and management issues. The multi headed Hydra that is The Pokemon Company's profits demand game in order for there to be new Merchandise which is the primary driver of profit. Nintendo doesn't do much in the way of Pokemon game Development and primarily publishes and markets the games. The last game they Developed for Pokemon Was Pokemon Stadium 2. BDSP was likely rushed once Legends Arceus potentially Pivoted from originally being remake to a new experience. I should point out that Game Freak nor Creatures is own by Nintendo; Nintendo just owns a third of the Pokemon IP.
A new Mario Kart on the switch was likely moved to the switch successor system as a launch title, Nintendo always tries to get a new Mario Kart early on in a systems life.
We didn't get a new Kid Icarus because Sakurai was busy for a decade on Smash Bros and is now in semi retirement. The other thing was for Melee, Brawl, and 3DS/Wii U was the inclusion of one or two NES Representatives a few who were planed for Smash 64 even but got held off.
Mother is another series that Nintendo doesn't fully own as the rights are Split between them and Itoi's company. Even if Itoi wanted to make a new game or remake he just doen't have the connections in Nintedo he used to now that Iwata passed away. However Itoi had said that he wasn't just done with Mother but Game Development entirely. Make sense as the smoothest development he had was a Fishing game, Every other game was hit with varying degrees of Develoment Hell. Earthbound/Mother 2 took 5 grueling years of development with HAL having to support APE/Creatures in order to finish; to put things in perspective Final Fantasy VI a more mechanically ambitious( and buggy) game took a little over a year. Mother 3 N64 was canned and Mother 3 GBA was cut down, suffers from some poor optimization and would require much more reprogramming in order for Nintendo to not get sued. Mother 3 if it had a western release wouldn't have come out until a year later at the earliest. Likely June or July in order to give some time between the Final Fantasy game Nintendo was publishing in the west and Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
Chibi Robo problem is the developer of the series went defunct in 2015 and the other developer is not assisting on Kirby titles.

Honestly, you might get a lot of flack for this video, but you are speaking nothing but facts. Nintendo, I feel, has fallen into this rut (not the right word but I digress) where they are relying HEAVILY on being a household name and brand loyalty. Not to mention, all the new games that have come out, although experimental (BOTW, Odyssey, Forgotten Land, etc) are very *safe* options for Nintendo to release. Idk why they would go for safe, especially being an established brand, but that is what's happening.
I know this is a AC channel, but I think Pokemon is the biggest example of putting effort into a franchise being almost nothing. IMO, as an avid SwSh defender, No. 1 Arceus stan, and Pokemon Snap enjoyer, Pokemon hasn't been the same since its full transition into 3D. I think the best step its taken on the Switch was Arceus, and imo, Arceus is better than SV any day of the week.
But, to bring the point back, I want to know what's going on behind the scenes for the reason that everything has become so "but it now and hope we support it later". Look at Mario Strikers, that game, that EVERYONE was so hyped for was basically left out with no support from Nintendo. It got one, maybe two, updates? But then nothing. And, to come back to Animal Crossing. I know another youtuber made a video recently about how the AC community is "spoiled and entitled" but I couldn't fully agree to the points they were making. I don't think its bad or unreasonable to expect more from the second best selling game on the Nintendo switch. Like, NH was supposed to be an upgrade from New Leaf, and while on paper it mostly is, theres SOOO much cut content that makes it feel like it both is and isn't. I, again, don't think its unreasonable to ask for performance issues to be fixed, to ask for more of the old furniture sets to be brought back, or to ask for an upgrade to the Nook Shop. I don't think the game is "finished", I think Nintendo was pushing yhe dev team to hurry up on the Splatoon hype and release 3 when Splat 2 was only realased a short time before.
Idk man, its a fickle time to be a Nintendo fan

Side Note about ARMS: I absolutely LOVE the idea of ARMS!! The characters, the lore, the OST, EVERYTHING. However, I think ARMS would have profited more if it releases on the Wii and utilized those motion controls (like Punch Out did) on that system. However, if ARMS ever does come back, I think taking the approach of a traditional fighting game would be super beneficial. By that I mean the game play would be the same, but the story mode would be you choose your character and go through their story, choose dialogue options and then fight other characters until you reach the end with the boss for that character. Then, once you complete all the characters storylines, you unlock the "true ending" and then you're done. Tl;Dr a story mode. Because ARMS is cool

I hope they just give us a new Animal Crossing game in a few years. Cause New Horizons is just a huge heartache. Y'all imagine the Big 3 were treated this way. Zelda, Mario and Pokémon were treated like Animal Crossing. Like the pandemic and being a long time since we had a mainline game are the only things saving NH from criticism.
Like Miyamoto delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad"
New Horizons for me is that game that was "rushed" out and Nintendo is now milking dry until they sell Switch 2 or whatever. Updates and quality of life stuff would be appreciated, but the hurt is already there.
There is nobody on Earth that can convince me that Animal Crossing New Horizons was a full Animal Crossing game at launch. All the "free updates" were them just patching the rest of the game. So they were just trying to get the game done. I think people would be more understanding if Nintendo communicated clearly like what they did with Metroid. There is an issue we delay the game. Due to the issues of the state if the world we are unable to finish the game and will give free updates until we can get it done.

I'd like to point out that the development team for Animal Crossing is the same team for Splatoon, so they had to shift gears and stop supporting ACNH in order to support Splatoon 3, which gets updated frequently for two years. Perhaps once support for Splatoon 3 ends in September, they will focus on another Animal Crossing game, but right now, they gotta focus on Splatoon.

Yeah we definitely do need a newer AC Game.
But the multiplayer part of ACNH really does stinks , but i do know of a newer way for the multiplayer part of that game to be way better.
But also to change more things about that game of ACNH.
But ACNH really should be in a whole newer way , like for the whole entire game of it.
Like being able to interact to absolutely everything and really to work for a living.
But the friend codes are there for us to be connected to each other.
But if we don’t wanna be connected to each other at all , then there should be a spot for those people.
So that way they don’t have to be connected to everyone.
But whoever wants to be connected to everybody , then the game itself should have a away , to get all of us to be connected to all of us.
But the game should really should be more opened to learning from us all.
But i do have a lot more of newer ideas.
