Hey Mike, I have owned the QC-Mate for over a year and I agree in that it works very well.
It has prevented many a curse word being spewed.
I too have only had issues rarely, but when you need you will discover it's worth!

Hey Mike resharpen the side opposite that it's going towards cause the way its going is the shaper side of the chain too now and always keep an eye on your drags too to make sure that you keep them filled down cause if they are high I don't care how sharp the teeth are because it still won't cut too have a good day now

Mike, noticed you alway mark your log prior to cutting, I did too until l was shown a great trick. At lest it worked well for me once I got used to it. On the left side of the saw, on the loop handle, place a zip tie sticking away from the saw. Measure from the bar to zip tie and trim it to cut length. End of zip tie at cut end and cut. No more measuring. Just a thought that worked for me. As always, enjoy your videos.

I saw Nathan using that clamp. I'm glad you did too! Another "work smarter not harder" tool. I've always strived to attain that in my work. As humans that's our duty to do that, it paves the way for the future. I love the new design Melissa, love it. Archie's picture on Melissa's channel, asleep w the ball in his mouth got a huge smile on my face, sweet. Mike, I went to Bestbuy, a shopping center for appliances, TVs, computers, stereos, etc. I walked in, maybe 15 yards in and slipped down square on my left knee. The pain was immense! They were waxing the floor and a customer moved the safety cones so I was not aware. I rolled over onto my side grappling my right side to make sure my pistol didn't come out of the holster. My right knee has 15% disability from a motorcycle wreck and because of that my left knee got overused and bothered me more than my right, so hitting it like that really put me out of commission for a few days. As we get older it's very important to not fall, lol - it just hurts so much more! Glad you're okay, I truly am. I am just so addicted to your channel and anticipating all the future projects, I can't stand the thoughts of you getting hurt or ill, so that is one of the reasons you and your family are on my prayer list. On the saw, maybe just put a new chain on it? It was nice this morning, so good to see you! Be careful and have a day! Thanks Mike. 👍🚜❤

Great video. These couplers are designed to not connect under pressure. I'm glad it's working well. The interface seals can wash out when connecting under pressure. This would most likely be a problem when the temp differential is high or if the machine was running. I do warranty work for these couplings and see the damaged interface seals on low hour machines. Again, it's good to see it working.

Mike your flag pole looks great, I really liked seeing it in the beginning of the video. Thanks for the tip on quick connectors. I will check out the link you showed. We use an excavator on the farm like you do and my Pops occasionally will disconnect one hose often when he hits the hose with a branch or small log. The hose is usually under pressure so I try to connect with no luck and get the wrench out to relieve the pressure and then I can connect it. This will work on some other cylinder connections I have that are a problem. I am glad that Hunter is ok and glad you only got a sore shoulder out of it. Ice is a bear, I am glad that most of it has melted these last couple of days. Be safe out there, farmer rod

Perfect timing on this video, specifically the Irwin quick coupler clamp. you’s are missing something, check with your manufacturer, they usually have a procedure to release hydraulic pressure either by engaging the key a wiggling the controls or a relief valve like kubota has or had, something!

Hello Mike. I too have trouble reconnecting quick couplers at times because of built up pressure in the system. I hold an oak dowel against the ball seal and smack it with a hammer to relieve the pressure. I've got to say though that the clamp setup is a good idea.

  • @LongBinh70
    @LongBinh70 2 роки тому +1

Great idea with the clamp. On the Pioneer connectors on my grapple they would be impossible to connect with the internal pressure. Pioneers have a pointy center plunger that I just whap on a flat portion of the grapple, releasing the pressure and they just slide together.
The flat-faced connectors for the excavator thumb is a different story. One half is fixed to the boom, the other half gets grabbed on the connector hex by a large Vice Grip, perpendicular to the fitting. I align the two connector halves then "persuade" the two halves together with a large hammer, hitting the Vice Grip only. I never needed more than two hits.

Mike I had a problem once like that on a hoe, some have a valve on the quick couplers and you shutt them off after you relieve the pressure and disconnect your lines. When you hook them up they told us to turn the ignition on engage the hydraulics and move your pilot controls around and it relieves any pressure and you will never have any problems hooking your quick couplers up!. Morgans good day!.

@Hilderbrand Outdoors I used two of my really old flat face fittings and gutted them so the “stoppers” were taken out of them. Then I welded a 1/2” npt pipe nipple to a screw clamp from harbor freight. This way I can screw either the male or female fitting on to it and relieve the pressure on either line that is hard to push on.

Mike, don't worry about falling down. As you get older, you get really good at it. Wait until your doctor starts asking about it. Makes a guy wonder if they teach them that in school or if they just enjoy making a man feel old. I was out harvesting some saw logs the other day, and a few had fallen in an area where the snow was waist deep. Now waist deep snow isn't all that bad, it's the tangle of brush and limbs that are under it. So, carrying a chainsaw, wedges, and an axe, I took a spill in the waist deep sugar snow. It was like falling on a feather bed! The problem was getting back up. There is nothing to support your hands as you try to get up. With one toe hooked on a limb, I had no choice but to submerge my head to allow my hands to sink down to something solid. That allowed me to unhook my toe from the limb, which made it easier to get back to my feet. Would have made a great video segment! Oh, and have you ever tried to find wedges in waist deep sugar snow? Take my advice...leave them until spring! I love your flagpole! Been wanting to put one up in my yard, and this summer might be the time to get it done. Working under the Flag on a clear breezy day is a treat indeed! Keep up the good work! Give my best wishes to Mellissa, Eva, Hunter, and all the pups!

Sir, I wonder if it will work on a pioneer coupler on my Kubota b2650? For those that say read the manual, cycle your hydraulics after turning it off, the lines can and will still develop pressure over time. Every year I take my loader off and hook up the snowblower, and in the spring the lines to the loader are a pain to connect because they've built up pressure over the winter. They'll also build up in the sun or heat. Great video and look like a great solution.

Flip that and all the pressure goes and it is easy.

Even if a guy had to grind the center thumb (not suggesting you do that) but it would save $4 grand and one less implement to change out. Lessening the need for the clamp all together and possibly the splitter. Maybe you could experiment and show us the result.

To me, it's like inventing a tool for recharging non-rechargeable batteries when the market offers rechargeable ones. There are quick-release couplings designed to relieve pressure, and that's the correct solution for those situation in my humble opinion. This tool is good for other applications, not for quick-release couplings: it will end up damaging internal seals causing oil leaks, so that after spending money for buying the tool, a new set of couplings will be necessary too

For 20 years I used machine couplers for the company that supplies Kubota. But I did pneumatic ones not the hydraulic ones. I let a guy still working there know about this video so maybe they can consider an engineering response to what you are experiencing. Shop floor people don't make a lot of headway with management but this has 'I told you so' written all over it. ❤😁

The solution is to depressurisation by turning off the machine roll the joystick controls till no more movement is in boom and dipper arm, this will release all hydraulic fluid in hose and you are good to go . No tools needed

If you get free time, check out the Mall of America. It's near the Airport. I was there when I went to the Prairie Island NPP. It's pretty amazing.

I'm a slip, trip and fall instructor for my company. We have state of the art slip simulator at Cranberry Woods. I was teaching people how to walk on slippery surfaces.

We’re going to try and make the Minneapolis thing, not real thrilled to go to downtown Minneapolis with all the crime. It’s only about an hr drive for us. Have a day! Btw love the trick with the couplers!

Mike when I drove a forklift, sometimes I would have that trouble with the connector. Found if I had the forklift off and moved the levers back and forth to relieve the pressure, works well also.

mike never had a problem with the flat face couplers, had a kubota kx121-3 and it had a lever under the hood by hydraulic pump to release the pressure, i would check with your dealer and i have cat mini excavator and just have to shut it off turn key one click put the safety down and wiggle the sticks and pressure is off, click on the hoses, nice tool though, but i think it’s not necessary, manufacturers usually have a way to release the pressure to aux hydraulics

good morning Mike for the chain on your saw if I hit a good size piece of metal specially if it more on one side than the other it will take me 2 to 3 filling before it is back to normal what happens you over heated one side of your chain when you hit that metal so the metal got weaker so your sharpening will dole faster on that side what i had to do a lots of time is after cutting a few pieces of wood even if it seem to still cut good but not perfect i resharpened right away well have a nice day

Mike, Check the chain guides that go into the bar. Some times when that happens they might get a bit messed up. You can use a flat file to clean them up. Usually it’s just a few. Hope that helps.
