SAW THIS TIP THIS A.M. and... IT WORKED!!! DID THIS TODAY!!! NINTH HOLE TORRES BLANCAS GREEN VALLEY AZ, JUST IN THE TREES PARALELL TO THE GREEN ACROSS THE CART PATH ON FAR RIGHT OF THE GREEN, ...DID THE OPPOSITE FOR A DRAW CUT AROUND A TREE!!! ...60 yards to the pin, 9 iron though, de-lofted and aimed for draw purpose. BAMMM!!! 12 feet from the blue flag pin on the far L side of this wide green. Had to look around the tree to watch the low ball flight, maybe 4 feet elevation and stayed well below lower tree branches i was hitting beneath. ***Thought it through for the draw***. Definite thumbs up for this technique. Looking forward to practicing this more, as well as the fade. 5 STAR TIP JOSH
Lovely stuff Josh. I love to work on all manner of ball shapes at the range with my son, imagining trees and obstacles everwhere. We also go for silly extreme shapes too, which show us what is feasible and what isn't. Great advice here mate and cheers from Sydney - Dave
wow really clear setup/shot instruction... just found your channel and hope you have more of these!!
Nice instructions, Josh. So applicable. Thank you!
thanks, one of the harder shots in golf to pull off under pressure. i guess it also needs as much club head speed as possible to impart max spin. great explanation and super clear!
The low cut is the hardest shot to pull off for me. I’ll try this thought process next time.
My favourite shot And very well done
Very detailed. I hit a similar shot but from the left trees as my miss is left. Harder to control though.
Same here, i cannot for the life of me hit a fade or cut and that complicates things on a lot of doglegs for me aha
Great video bro 👌 love it 💪💪
Thanks bud!
great lesson as always: clear, concise, and well exampled. keep it up man!
Epic! What kind of video equipment do you use to shoot your videos??
Good practice comes from playing on the greens. Play 3 balls and watch how many different practice shots you get.
Where do you position the ball before hitting that shot? Forward, neutral, back?
Slightly forward
Easier to fade off the front foot but want to keep it low
Thats awsome
What about feet setup. People say left foot back, but idk
Pulling your left foot back is the same as align your feet left, which he said.
where is the ball position? Front, back or center?
This is his normal shot anyway notice he’s already in the right trees😂
No mention of ball placement?
I'd imagine middle-back ish in order to ensure forward press contact.
Back foot if you wanna hit it really low
I guess it would've been relevant if replicated the same scenario...
Lol ok dude...one: that didn't start on your feet line, it was like 40 degrees right of that. Two: anyone with good enough hands to pull this off doesnt need you to show them, which Three: you're encouraging players who aren't good enough for this do something that will hurt their scores. A 10 handicap should punch out. A 2 handicap should punch out a little lower and a little deeper. Tiger should play the hero shot.
Your viewers aren't Tiger. Your viewers are 10s if you're lucky.
The reason this shot is a thing is that golfers with weak front legs (knees especially) who can't properly turn through for fear of serious injury need a way to swing aggressively. Open the front foot, smother-yank everything, and it doesn't cost alot of distance and the ball still spins enough to stop...albeit with some side action.
I have a 62 year old former oil worker with a total of 5 fingers and a prosthetic front knee/shin/foot. He lays the club in his right hand (only choice), and smother punch-fades everything - he can't turn, that doesn't exist, he can't shift. He has big ass forearms and we built him a move that works ish.
There is zero reason for a healthy person with all joints etc to pull-smother on purpose, except to hero-shot Tiger-style rescue.
Try to teach a swing that can be pulled off without the advantages of hand-eye, arm-strength, balance, youth, small boobs (go ahead, tell me that having big boobs doesn't ruin your idea of the golf swing). You're teaching yoga instructors. Start teaching "I refuse the auto-wheelchair at walmart" student, and you'll pick up on the fact that the low hammer-slice isn't a big part of the game for most people.
