  • If you want to learn how to hit a golf ball straight you must first learn how to shape any golf shot. If you learn how to hit a draw and then you learn how to hit a fade you now have two very different FEELINGS.
    You can use these feelings as a kind of framework to work within to feel how to hit golf ball straight.
    In this golf video you will learn how to hit a draw, a fade, how to hit a golf ball low and high
    This skill is a fundamental to learning the game of golf and becoming a more consistent golfer. It is not something you should wait to achieve until you get to a certain standard. If you can't shape the ball both ways it's almost impossible to feel how to hit driver straight or take control of your irons.
    You will also see how by improving your FEEL you will naturally strike your irons pure. It simply comes from a greater sense of what the club head is doing.

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
    Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
    I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
    On UA-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
    Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
    I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

For me in to out swing and draw works when I keep the ball slightly behind center even for 5 irons or is this individual comfort? Thanks

    I tried to use the Driver today and hit 60 balls. The shaping of the ball for a Fade didn’t work for me....probably did something wrong. My slice shots were the norm. I noticed if I don’t kill the ball and relaxed more, then the ball went fairly straight. I think when the Driver is not working for me tomorrow at the course, I will use #3 Wood.

    Danny, great video. Are you setting the club face in an open/closed position at address and gripping the club accordingly or are you rotating your wrists open/closed at address and then taking your normal swing? I guess there could also be a third option being you are rotating your wrist right at impact?

    I get my mind confused. Im a former baseball player and lefty. When I'm trying to hit a draw and hitting the ball out to the left, I feel like my clubface is open even more by trying to hit it out to the left. How do you visually think about hitting to the left but with a closed clubface? I just cannot get it to make any sense in my head.

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  2 роки тому +1

      What you could do at first is close the club face as a drill and then hit as far as you can in to out. Simply get the ball curving in a draw shape. Once it’s curving you have the feel of what makes it curve now you just start altering the start line

    Danny,
    Once again, wonderful video. One question I have is, instead trying to close the face by turning my knuckles down to create a draw, is there a reason why I don’t I just close the face at address? That way I don’t need to introduce another movement in my swing. Same thought for a draw. Changing my stance is easy, swing path left or right, pretty simple but turning my knuckles while in a three fourths of a second downswing before impact, not so easy.

    I’ve been working on my draw for months. I watched your lesson and immediately went out to the range. Absolutely amazing! The key for me was lining up right (R handed) which I would never dare to do, because -duh- my slice ends up over there AND having confidence that I could shape it to the left. This allowed me to do EXACTLY what you were saying, work the fade and then manage between the two to hit it straight.
    Will continue to work on this to get it ingrained! Truly a breakthrough to be able to dial it back and forth which increases the confidence!

    Hello Danny, interesting video. I watch all of your videos but have never seen one which addresses my problem. To start with I am a senior golfer (78), have limited mobility due to a lot of knee operations (9) and am a left hander golfer. I have learned that ball height, position, grip and a single plane golf swing allow me to hit the ball straight (90%) of the time. My drives tend to have a small fade, irons usually go straight, but once the ball hits the ground, the ball always jumps or rolls to the left. In my mind this means that the ball is spinning counter clockwise. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    May people on the curtailed follow through block the face open by failing to cover the ball.
    Can you explain forward shaft lean and covering the ball in tandem?
    It then answers the question of early extension.

    Hi Danny
    thanks for another great video.
    Am I right when i feel the gripp of my right hand is controlling the open or closed face of the club (i am right handed golfer)?
    If I turn my knuckles of the right hand more to the ground the face of the club will close automaticly during the swing and vice versa? So i can keep my left hand in the same neutral position on the club.
    enjoy your weekend

    Okay Danny. I’m going to have to do something about changing my Saturday mornings. At the moment it’s wake up, make a cuppa, iPad out, earphones in, watch UA-cam until the Danny Maude notification ping to go off, watch video and learn something really enlightening. I know it might sound like a perfect start to the weekend, but it’s going to have to end.
    Scrap that - Okay, I’ll stick with it for a while. Why change a perfect Saturday morning?!

    Explains my miss hits well. So if I shift my swing target left do I then look down at the club face behind the ball turned straight to the target? You do this by shifting you grip not rotating the club with your normal grip?

  • @Willie-t5409

    See it, feel it, trust it....great video Danny on a great basics of ball striking lesson. I laughed when you challenged us to curve it on purpose. Good days - straight to fade, bad days - fade to banana slice. I have to say, it is more of the former these days and less of the latter. I have purposed to spend more time on working this plan - what does it feel like to hit it too far left. Okay, once that happens now what do I need to adjust to move it more back to center. It has really helped to quietly talk through the shot and then repeat the phrase "see the shot, feel the shot (which is what you are talking here), then trust the shot (i.e. that your muscle memory takes over)....

      @@DanielMaude Just to be clear, are you teaching changing the grip to open or close the club face or changing the openness of the club face by feel (or does the left hand close the face and the right hand change the grip position with respect to the lead hand)? See why I am confused?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  3 роки тому +1

      @@4xcabbage apologies for the confusion. Some players like to strengthen or weaken their grip before they swing. Others do it during the swing.
      The key is it’s often not conscious. The key is to learn to trust your body to respond to your intention.
      I turned my knuckles down after I had taken a neutral grip to feel what it’s like to have a closed club face. I would do this naturally as I swing

    • @4xcabbage
      @4xcabbage 3 роки тому

      @@DanielMaude Thanks, I have always tried to close the face with grip (varying degrees of success!) but I will try at the range to do it during the swing. I play my irons pretty well but I am an inveterate pusher of the ball with driver, if I could trust my body to close the face I think it would help by producing a nice draw.

    Always a gentleman and a scholar! I was just trying to mess around with this. It is super hard right now, we still have nets up, hard to see what is actually happening and on the course makes it harder to really trust the shot if you don’t know exactly where it’s going to go. Last night on the range I was finally able to get some extra pop in my shot, people around could hear it and got some looks, that was really encouraging. I’m super excited to take this next step and as always love the information and detail.

I've been playing seriously now for 2 years and at 62, I thought turning as you taught was going to be difficult. It isn't. I was at the range today for the first time this season and incorporated your teaching in my shots and it worked wonderfully! My hitting just improved big time thanks to your clear teaching Danny! I even managed to hit fades and draws; some of the intentionally as well:) can't wait for my first round of the season.
