  • If you struggle with chip shots and pitch shots around the green it's because you have a chipping and pitching technique that is either too complicated or your trying to use the same technique for all your short game shots.
In this golf video Danny Maude explains the difference between chipping and pitching and shows you exactly what short game technique to use and when to use it.
Here's what you are going to learn
    1. How you set-up to chipping and pitching is crucial for consistent strikes.
    2. Learn how to have a tension free golf swing
    3. Use a chipping technique for chipping but a pitching technique for pitching
So if you are looking at improving your confidence with chip shots around the green watch the latest video from Danny Maude right here 👇 • Before Pitching Onto T...

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On UA-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I've been watching your videos for several years. I love your approach to instruction of a very difficult game. I also remember from your original video with Mr. Cowens that in the course of the pitch shot telling yourself that "you're just messing about." Let the club fall, pressure down, get the body out of the way, and you're just messing about. Somehow, that message relaxes the body and the mind if you're just 'messing about.' Thanks Danny!

When I was in my teens, I naturally was able to hit pitching shots within 100 yards consistently without any instruction. It was easily the strongest part of my game. When I hit my twenties, one summer I suddenly got the yips between 20-100 yards and to this day I still haven't fully shaken them. The information and tips you've shared have really helped me diagnose my pitching and the things I am doing wrong out of fear to compensate.Watching you hit those pitch shots, while explaining the rythm and shoulder positioning, brought back memories of the satisfying feeling you get after hitting a clean, effortless pitch shot without even thinking twice about it! Thank you!

  • @Willie-t5409
    @Willie-t5409 Рік тому

Yes, yes, yes! Loved the videos you did with Pete on greenside work. I love that you identified that you were using all the shots here with the 56* wedge. I have settled on the 54* for this work and use much of what you are discussing here to rehearse the shots. I am fortunate enough to have "zones" in my yard "and my neighbors'" to hit to that allow for designated distances. Hence, I am able to know how much momentum I need to have with the wedge to get the ball to drop, roll and stop. The lead and trail arm drills are the bomb and help coordinate a true fluid feel to the swing. Have had a number of fellow players of late talk about how fluid my pitch swing is and there is nothing like that clean, crisp sound of the ball coming off the face of the club flying to the target and coming to a stop at "kick-in" distance from the pin. Great lesson as always....

Hi Danny, my pitching has been poor lately so, as always, I took your advice about getting the left shoulder out of the way. It felt really positive and I realised that I would get a much better strike right through the bag if I used this tip. So, I took it to the course as my swing thought for the day and struck the ball much better from driver through to wedge. Brilliant. Still lost my match, but a definite improvement. It's no surprise to me that your now World No 1 golf instructor online. IMHO, the GOAT!

My short game confidence is sky high and has never been better. Best thing I ever found for pitching was to feel "dead hands" - hit different lengths and flights with different clubs and back swing lengths, but my last thought for all of them is "dead hands". I think that thought and feel is giving me the same thing you're referring to in this video - just feeling the club drop and let the momentum take care of things as I turn my chest to the target.
Still need to practice a LOT more and get the distances dialled in, but the times I've spent a little time on this I've been pleasantly surprised how easy it is to get consistency - now I love playing 30-80 yard shots (even if they don't always go to plan ...but that's golf for you 😉)

A big thing for me with pitch shots is the grip. I think this really emphasizes the idea of letting the club drop naturally. Once I started staying loose with the grip to allow the clubhead to drop in my downswing, this whole technique of pitching became a lot less of a conscious effort and that 50-60 yard shot over a bunker onto the green magically no longer frightens me.

@@DanielMaude the only part of my game which was remotely consistent - quite a few nice shots feeling much more relaxed in the swing. Thanks! I’m pretty new to golf and I’m quite inconsistent off the tee. Am I overthinking / do you have a video on tee shots at all not using the driver? Thanks!

Id never played before until a month ago when I went with some lads from work. Really enjoyed it brought some clubs and started watching Danny's videos and they've shaved nearly 40 strokes off my first score to what is now a respectable round already. Thank you so much

Classic Danny! If there’s one thing I’ve learned from him it’s let you body or arms swing naturally and not manufactured. Our bodies naturally have the answer if we trust it to swing as they naturally would want to. It’s been the biggest influence on my improvement as a golfer and now Pete Cowan is saying the same!!!

Thanks for another thoughtful and insightful video, Danny. I like the way you have made your own interpretation of what Pete Cowen teaches and made it assimilable for ordinary golfers. Having had a few hours to practise the takeaways of this, I now have my own interpretation. I found that concentrating on allowing the club to fall where it wants to - using natural forces, in Cowenese - has transformed my strike and consistency throughout the short game (bunker shots included). I found that by doing nothing to impede or manipulate the club's motion coming through the ball, I moved out the way without trying. To get the feeling of this consistently, swinging with the lead hand only first as you suggest really helps. Having struggled round the greens for a number of years, I'm now really excited about the upcoming season. Thanks again.

Great video Danny will try this out , like the rhythmic side of this using the forces of density of the instrument wedge being used . I thought my chipping pitching was ok but didn’t practice for a few weeks . Hit some brilliant irons then messed up the pitch about 50 yards away . Feel like I have to start again . I’m going to put the alignment stick under my arm as a guide as you have shown . I imagine a lot of the weight is going on the front door still

Thanks Danny , i love all your content, it is so helpful. Q: for pitching, do you suggest to hold the club with a slightly weaker grip? i notice that with my usual (strong grip) i tend to pull the shots due to the club face closing. thanks again for all your videos!

Another great video - the chipping video changed my game! I will definitely try the 5 second drill next time I am out. The slow mo of your swing is really interesting in that your eyes and head move quite early in the downswing. Have you always done that?

You have transformed my short game. I either had a big flop shot or a squeezy chip as my options. But when you described how to glide the club and bruise the ground that just clicked and it is my go to thought for those 20-70 yard shots.

THE best youtube instructor I have come across yet. You can't imagine how valuable this stuff is for me. Just shot my life best 90 the other weekend after starting my golf journey shooting in the 120+ when It began a couple years ago. After lots of range time and applying some of the knowledge I found on this channel (and others) the game feels almost easy some days haha. It feels like free mini lessons. Next stop is the 80s so keep this stuff coming.

Another great video but my comment here is a general one and this is that you, Danny Maude, have improved my golf game. The quality of my swing and the results I’m getting since I started to watch and incorporate your videos has improved. I guess everyone learns in different ways, but the way you explain and demonstrate the various techniques required to play well (and thus enjoy the game more) really works for me. Thank you for what you do.
