Hi Jane, I followed your Seaside Meditation Tutorial. This was only my third time painting (EVER). My painting turned out fantastic!!! It looked very close to your painting. The tutorial was not only easy to follow but very relaxing and enjoyable. With your easygoing style I felt comfortable to experiment a little so my rocks are a little different than yours but still look very realistic. I was both excited and encouraged from spending time learning from you. Keep up the good work!!!

You paint wood like a boss. I'm serious. I followed your tutorial about a year ago or more when you painted the old wood barn or building with the window with a bush growing through the window. I followed your instructions and it worked like a charm. Here you are enticing me with Driftwood. It's beautiful. I'm sure to try it soon.

Wow Jane you’re the best wood painter. This looks so twisted like a piece of drift wood does. That fan brush really started changes in motion towards eating away a solid piece of wood to a riddled sea worn pice of wood. Fantastic painting so far. Let’s keep going. 🤪

Ok, this will be a challenge, after all, it took you 1.5 hrs! So I will break it down into elements to practice. Patience is the name of this game. Let’s see....maybe 3 days. I love it!!

I really love your choice of moody colors for this painting. I'm excited to try this because I recently acquired a huge amount of heavy bodied Liquitex on clearance so I can now start using my new colors!

LOL!! I almost always wear my hair up, now that it's getting so long. I must have had it down at that moment, so the hairband had to go somewhere so I didn't lose it, lol. I just forgot it was there :)

Jane, do you always use the heavy paints? I'm just using the basic paints at this time because I'm real new to this adventure. Beautiful work here!

Hi, Megan! No, I still use a couple Basics. Mostly black, white, and ultramarine. Never feel like you have to use Heavy Body just because I am. Basics are perfectly fine! They're good paints, and if you decide you want to keep painting and want to use professional paints, you can move up then 💛
Jane if I am using basics would I still need the matte medium being the paint is thinner than the one you're using?
Matte medium isn't required. It's just how I like to paint :)

I'm confused around 45:53 "the unbleached titanium" it looks like it is mixed with something as it is practically dark grey looking? I thought it was more like a beige? Are you mixing it with some of the black?
I think my brush was just dirty with some of the other colors, but I just dunked into the unbleached. I tend to paint without washing my brush a lot, especially when I'm doing some soft but slight blending like on that log. I hope that helps!
