Hi Jane. I started painting 2 years ago when I was 83 years old. I took my first lessons from you. Your teaching style is perfect for the beginning artist. You have a very soothing voice which helps the student stay calm. I'll be 85 in Jan. 2020 and still painting I'm getting some nice reviews (from friends and family). I think an experienced painter can benefit from taking classes for the beginner.
Don, you've made my day!! I love to hear this! So many people feel like if they didn't start painting as a kid that it's too late. I'm so happy you're not of that mind. I would love to see what you're painting! If you like, you can email me at artmonsterjane@gmail.com. And from one January baby to another, Happy Birthday next month!
Have Jane! I've am70 years old and have always wanted to learn to paint. I love your painting lesson's. I love the owl you painted! I would it on the canvas! Thank you for all you share with us!! 😁
I just was reading the comments & came across yours. Jane is the perfect teacher bc there is no intimidation whatsoever & there are no interruptions with the camera/technical guys that seem to distract the train of thought from not only the artist but the student as well. Nothing but soothing reassuring voice w tranquil music as well. If you Google "70 YEAR OLD WOMAN TAKES UP PAINTING) you will read about an artist who is flourishing after beginning her journey in her 70's...
@@bethmulligan2588You are correct with (for me) "annoying" interruptions of others; the giggling techs, camera people, and all that. Jane's so relaxing, and I love her soothing music, her soft voice, and her technique.
Not only are you a marvelous painter... you are a spectacular teacher. I've learned more from you than 'any' other video tutorial painter because you don't ever leave us guessing about anything... from paint mixing to brush strokes, you show us 'exactly' what you're doing. You're encouraging and I absolutely love when you say 'opps' while working on something. Lets us know that even the best painters have things get away from them at times. And, as someone else mentioned... your voice is so calming it makes the whole learning process a lot less stressful. Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant! I've been watching, mesmerized, for 40 minutes straight. This is better than meditation. 😍 Plus, I'm learning quite a few things about brush strokes too.
I saw your tutorial several days ago. I have just begun water colors, and when I saw your tutorial I went out an bought some cheap acrylics just to see how I could handle the drying time. I have a copy of a painting by Carl Spitzweg “The Bookworm”, so I painted with you and am going to hang it with the painting from the 1800’s. I think I will buy better paints now and learn how to keep my paints wetter longer. I really enjoyed the whole process. So different from water color. I like them both and will continue to explore possibly with Gouache and even collage. Thank you for for the lesson. Was easy to follow along.
Getting supplies ready to paint a bright floral painting for my mom! Great job Jane! I think my favorite part of your painting tutorials is the beginning setup of the painting and learning how it is done! Thank you!
Having made sure. I’ve subscribed to both channels (I’ve been yours for almost a year now) I’m hoping for a chance at those canvases!! Having started painting (and drawing) a few weeks before discovering your channel, my goal is to do more of your painting and several from a few others so I can attempt doing a a series of 6 paintings following the “Tree of Life” theme in memory of my parents....I have discovered that I may not ever be di Vinci or Rembrandt but I LOVE losing myself in creating and having all my stress disappear....I might never be perfect yet I will be perfectly me.... you taught me that.... thank you for that!!
Jane your so amusing telling us tracing is not cheating, I chuckled. I think your a great teacher and I enjoy watching you and listening to you explain the colors and techniques and how to do everything. It makes me feel confident that I can do this. I wish I could get good enough to sell some things because I am unemployed and I need an income, cant find one in my little town in Iowa.
Jane., I subscribed to Fredrix and I would paint Half dome during the Golden Hour. I cannot tell you how much your tutorials have brought me peace. Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing you work and inspiring the world! this is the first painting of yours I have tried and it was an awesome experience ! will continue to use your painting and style for inspiration ! thank you so much you have a unique style with your paintings and they speak volumes beyond the art itself !
Jane, I just started painting a few months ago after dealing with some health issues and I found painting to be so therapeutic and relaxing. I just love how you do step by step, it makes it very doable. Thank you for all your great work!
Have enjoyed following you Jane and your career. Would love to win the Fredrix canvas! I would paint a vast array of subjects, birds, ocean, wildlife, fish... the subjects for what to paint are endless! Thanks to Fredrix for such a great opportunity!
Hello, Jane. Your calm voice and easy to follow instructions caused me to get into painting. I want to paint something magical, and perhaps poetic on a Fredrix canvas. If they are as good as you say then misty mountains with distant, snow covered evergreens would be at the top of the list.
I absolutely Love old books too, especially the way they smell when you open them up. It’s a unique scent that I have liked since I was a kid. If I were to win, I would first paint the very first painting I ever watched you paint, the lady with the red umbrella walking towards the abstract buildings in the rain. It has always been one of my favorites and it was the reason subscribed to your awesome channel. Thank you for sharing your time, wisdom, and beautiful art with us all so freely.
Stacy! You're a winner! Please email me ASAP at artmonsterjane@gmail.com. When you do, please verify that you're in the US and give me your shipping address. Congrats, friend, and thank you so much for your support ♥
Hi Jane. Sorry that I missed the live tutorial of this painting, but I was babysitting my 7 yr. old autistic grandson yesterday. I am subscribed to both channels. My grandson loves dinosaurs so if I were to win the Fredrix canvas I would paint dinosaur scenes for my grandson to hang on his bedroom walls. I am going to do this painting today.
Hello! My husband got some fantastic pictures of the desert sunset for me that I haven't painted yet. The clouds look like they are on fire, with some purple mixed in to boot. I would paint that sunset along with the mountains and canyons. Thank you for sharing your videos and art!
I have a goal to paint this starting new years day 2021 but it will probably take me a month a little at a time. i love this one. also the one with the books and the candle that is on my list too
hi there Jane. I love all your tutorials and you are so easy to listen and watch . If I were to win the Frediericks Blue Label canvases, I would paint something that would make an impact on people- hopefully make others feel calm and positive. Your teachings have that effect on me and I am sure others.
I am a long time subscriber with Painting with Jane and I just subscribed to Frederic. I have learned so much from watching you Jane. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Deborah! You're a winner! Please email me ASAP at artmonsterjane@gmail.com. When you do, please verify that you're in the US and give me your shipping address. Congrats, friend, and thank you so much for your support all these years ♥
Your videos are the most calming thing on UA-cam and every time I watch I get inspired. I'd love to paint a galaxy or aurora painting on one of those canvas.
Hi Jane I have learned so much from this channel. I can draw and never painted good until I found you. I would love to paint a beautiful tree and sky painting on a Fredix canvas. I actually paint better than I can draw. Thank you so much for your willingness to teach others. I love doing these trees. Blessings to you and a gain thank you. Ann
LOVE the book painting. I also believe I'd love the Fredrix blue canvas since as I watch you pull the paint on the books I can almost feel the soft smoothness of the canvas. Would love one to paint on and I usually paint with acrylics and your tutorials. I do like Fredrix and I joined their FB page. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I would paint my first portrait on the Fredrix canvas if I won. Subscribed to Fredrix but was already subscribed to Painting with Jane and have done many of your paintings! Last one I did was the elephant. So fun!
Your videos has helped me discover a new passion and way for me to practice self-care!! If I won, I would paint a landscape scene - fall or winter, with lots of trees! Reminds me of where I am from!!
Jane, I can't tell you how much I love this painting. I love books. I love still-life. I love land and seascape. I can't paint right now. I'm in the middle of moving, but I quickly did this on my tablet and it came out so good. Can you do more still-life and more fish. I love painting fish. You are a remarkable artist and teacher. I watch 2 others but I love watching you the most. Just being honest. You rock!!!🖌🎨
I was first introduced to Fredrix canvas by you. I've bought one and I painted your red door with stucco and stone pathway. It was a dream to paint on! I have three dachshunds that I would love to start painting in various poses, that's what I would use them for.
Subscribed to you already and added Fredrix. I'd probably follow one of your Moody tutorials to paint on the canvas. I'm very new to painting and was having a very hard time finding tutorials that weren't always bright and frilly. I have no problems with those who enjoy that but i like the darker and creepy side of things. I love your instruction and straight forward tutorials. You've helped me see that i CAN do it. Thank you for what you do. For helping me to release pent up stress and develop patience.
Hi Jane, I am a big fan of your art and tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing and all that you do! If I were to win the Fredrix canvas, I've decided that I would try a painting I have been running from trying for a few months . There was a cattle pasture across from my grandparents front yard when I was growing up, and we called it ,"Zeno's Pasture" after the owner of the Land. I have wanted to paint this pasture as best I can from memory (and Ill use some general reference images to help. Thank you again.
My dear friend Jane, I did subscribe to Fredrix and I have used a canvas. more than a canvas a panel from them and I really like them. Can wait to paint this one. I did paint a while ago the other painting you did about books in a table with a candle in top. Is one of my favorites. Great day, blessings Vianni
Wow! I did not know Fredrix had a channel, thank you very much for sharing! As to what I would paint on my next Fredrix canvas, I won't lie - I do not know but it'll almost certainly be a gift for one of my friends. I think on a super fine surface the Philadelphia Center City Skyline would be a nice challenge. Depending on the dimensions dividing it into an upper and lower panel showing two different views (& time of day) would probably pop. No guarantees though. Keep on with the good works!
Hi Jane! I would definitely try my hand (and my brushes) at painting those old books on the Fredrix canvas!!! I love rummaging through old vintage books. What fun it would be to capture some of them in paint!!! Thank you!
I’m already subscribed to your UA-cam page and I didn’t realize Fredrix had a UA-cam page , but I’ve subscribed to theirs also! But if I won I would of coarse paint more of your tutorials. But I’ve really been wanting to paint 2 certain pieces. I a bit terrified to try them just yet. Those are my fur baby he is a little Miniature dachshund & my son Josiah Julian that passed away in 2011 due to SIDS . Honestly I’m sacred to try Portraits. Though I would really like to try, I would probably just go with a Awesome picture of the sunset I took a bit ago . I absolutely loved it and thought it would make a beautiful painting. ❤️
Jane, I loved this tutorial . I am going to try and paint something similar on the back of my kindle, not sure how that will go but going to attempt it anyway. Thanks for all your great videos.

With new canvas from Fredrix's, I would definitely do these books. I love to read and this is a beautiful painting. I am also in the fall mood already, it has been way to hot, so a nice fall wooded lane would be just the thing I need to paint. Thanks Jane!

Love PWJ art tutorials so much and I am subscribed to both channels. Very helpful lessons for beginners like me. I have a beautiful photo I have permission to use from a friends vacation with an eternity pool overlooking a coastal scene. That would be a challenge but would be my choice to use a high quality Fredrix canvas. Cheers!
I love painting old books, because I love books, old books. It is beautiful, thanks.
