Thank you for showing how you adjusted the crown of the watch! I was trying to pull the crown on my new Casio and was about to grab pliers, thinking something was wrong. Thanks to your clear instructions, I realized it needed to be unscrewed first, and you saved me from probably damaging the watch
my dad had a diver... it is now with my husband and will eventually be restored once we find a trustworthy repair and restoration shop. because i wanted to remember my dad in this manner i bought an mdv106 with the metal bracelet. your video was the top option to click on when i searched how to adjust the date and time setting since i'm new to the watch hobby. thank you for the video, it was easy to follow. now, i want the blue too!
I absolutely love mine as a casual watch. For $50 I think it is steal considering the beautiful blue face. Unless you have very small wrists I do not think it wears too big at all.
I put my 2AVCF on a Eulit Palma 22mm royal blue perlon one-piece band. The bright hue of the blue matches the face really well and the woven rope look of the band material has a kind of nautical feel. However, I'd say my 17mm wrist is about the maximum size the band can accommodate on that watch because it's relatively short. They do make a long two-piece but it's not the same rbright blue and I haven't tried it.
really wish they would put more lume on these DUROs, not much to ask for their flagship DIVE WATCH, especially since many places now have marked them up on price. More well known companies put 12-15 layers of lume on as standard for a flagship dive watch. Yet again, a brilliant video Greg. Have you thought about modding the face to Sapphire glass too?
I am told by a juweler not to schange the date between the 9 and 3 mark, set the date between 3 and 9 mark repectively. Good review and nice watch, I love casios. I think Casio is hard to beat, price quality wise.
i just got one for my birthday, a blue dial and bezel, i already have a black one and it works great i set the date different though i stop it at the day before and then set the time going once around to change the date then set correct time
As I mentioned before, the Duro seems to be for the American market. The Casio diver available in Europe is the MTD1053. It would be awesome if you could test that one assuming you can get it regularly without import.
I see one listed on eBay which would ship from Israel. The price is good and it comes with a metal bracelet already. I have never ordered anything directly from Israel before so I don’t know if there would be any import complications. Hmmmm.
@@GoodTimekeeper there's also a new edifice model, the efv130, that has a screw down crown (even though it's only rated at 100 m WR).. since this is also available in Europe maybe it would be a good alternative to the duro.. a comparison of the 3 would be great!..
Finally. I've been waiting for you to review this one. Literally just checked this passed weekend but you're correct, still $54. Ok now to watch your video. 😁
I just ordered the black one and I’m really excited about it! And then I ordered the blue one…and then a timex T49870… 3 different watches on the way lol I’m totally sucked into collecting these bad boys now
Love my blue Casio Duro (Marlin). I would love to see a red second hand as on the black dial. It's more sporty and easier to differentiate from the minute hand.
My casio duro has some play in minute hand when i move watch right/left or up/down then minutes hand move little bit backward and forward respectively. Is it normal ?
I have the Pepsi (sporty) and the gold (classy). I’m getting jubilee bracelets for both. I’ll probably end up getting them all. All black next, then all blue. I just can’t stop.
Just scored one off of Amazon for around $50 with tax. Came with the much-maligned resin band. Hacked it to NIST (WWV) and put it on about _three days ago_ and have not taken it off. For its 44 mm size and supposed bulkiness, It's incredibly comfortable and has lost precisely *ZERO SECONDS* over the 72 hours.
Hi Greg New to the channel, liking it so far. Can ask what the 2 other divers you have at the start next to the Duro are please? Like most, I upgraded to a stainless bracelet on my Blue Duro, plus a milled clasp and sapphire crystal. Looks like a more expensive dress watch now.
the second needle doesnt match the second marks on the dial... i have the black version and it does it right. Today I order the blue version... i hope will come without that issue.
Please start watching the video around the 6:00 time stamp for instructions on how to set the time, and around the 7:00 time stamp to see how the date is set.
Wow, Thanks Greg 😇 I like it. I'm not so much of a quartz fan but it's definitely on my affordable bucket list and it'll match my Benyar BY-5152 nicely.
Thanks for the great in-depth review. Question: I just ordered this watch off amazon , the vendor was listed as 'The Casio Store' , is there any concern about counterfeit or knock-offs with this particular model? I'm always hesitant when purchasing online. Thank you, and have a great day.
I’ve never purchased a fake Casio by mistake nor on purpose. I suppose the nice thing about Amazon is that if you suspect something is a fake they should offer an easy refund. I have purchased from The Casio Store on eBay and they appear to be 100% legitimate.
@@GoodTimekeeper Hi Greg . . . I ended upp buying this watch 3 months ago after your reply. I love the watch, but the other day I looked at it, and it had slowed by almost an hour. I re-set the time and 2 days later it's still running but has lost about 7 minutes. When the batteries die on these watches, do they slow down, or just stop. I'm hesitant to take it in to my local Casio dealer if the watch is not worth repairing, etc. I paid just under $50 for it . . . but I like the watch.
Those very last letters refer to the area where the watch is intended to be sold. For example, JF is sold in Japan and ER is sold in Europe. But those last letters aren’t actually shown on the back of the watch itself. So the watches are the same. I don’t know what CF stands for but it refers to the distribution of the watch.
That's a good question. There are other folks who've done a lot of different modifications on these watches but I've never seen anyone talking about putting a different movement inside the MDV-106 case.
Accurate to within 20 seconds a month??? That is what can be expected from a reasonably good quality automatic watch. I have the black and gold Duro and I believe that the accuracy is between 3 and 5 seconds fast per month.
Love the blue. Too bad the market was filled with scalpers iny country, its often offered for over $120 Edit: its over $450 now. If only Casio would made more of these.

Just picked up a black Duro on clearance at Walmart for $13. The blue and gold/black versions don't appear to go on clearance (at least not yet)
What a steal! Nice bro
$13? I'm jealous. I'd buy 4 or 5 just for the bands and back-up watches. Great find!
Wow! What a steal!
Steal of a deal man. Would love to snag a black one for that price.
Just bought this and I'm so effing EXCITED! first analog watch!

I tried it on an orange silicon NATO and also a blue leather two piece. Looks great on both.
love these cheap watch channels, I used to be into mechanical but I am appreciating the cheaper watches more these days

Agreed, lume is on the weak side, but then again a few of my Seiko are the same.

I got a Duro from Amazon.com for $56 shipped to the UK no problem.

So simple and so perfect!! They are going up in value for a reason people are coning to their senses!
Best video on this watch. Do you have video on how to change battery in this watch and what exact battery goes in this watch.

I've been eyeballing these for years but they're somehow impossible to find here in Europe (for a reasonable price at least).
In the local watch community there may be Casio Duro MDV106's, look up the forum of your country.
I'm in Ireland and got mine here: www.greatwatches.co.uk/products/casio-mdv-106-1a-mens-duro-200m-2020-analog-200m-diver-sports-watch-brand-new

Great review. I’m enjoying my recently acquired Blue-face Duro Only issue the is date display is small & difficult to read.
Sapphire crystal greatly improves the toughness of this great watch. I purchased one off of Aliexpress for less than 20 bucks.
Did you purchase the crystal or the watch off AliExpress?
Wow, Thanks Greg 😇 I like it. I'm not so much of a quartz fan but it's definitely on my affordable bucket list and it'll match my Benyar BY-5152 nicely.
Wildlife correction...It ain't a marlin, it's a sailfish... (love the watch)
Bought all 3, Sapphire upgrades. The indices on the blue are applied, not embossed

Where can I buy one pls
I see one on the JCPenny website for about $54 after a Mother's Day discount. Similar price right now on Amazon too.
I have the black and blue Batman 👍. But thanks to you I'm ordering the blue one now. Just what I needed another watch 😂
Finally got my blue Duro today (to join my black + silver) and it's just so nice.
These really are the best value watches around. IMHO.
thank you for the help! great looking watch
Does the time change auto matic
The time does not change automatically.
I have my black Duro on a nato style strap.I think I'm on my last year of battery life.....................
Am i the only one that likes the green one?
Not all watches at Walmart come with the protective sticker they should
I got one coming , what is meant by Duro ?
“Duro” means “tough” or “hard” in Spanish and some other Romance languages.
What was the other casio watch he compared it with?
I think it was the MTD 1079, which I reviewed in this video... ua-cam.com/video/HItJX1gD4Hs/v-deo.html
If they did one with a green face and bezel, I'd buy one, but not so keen on the blue or black.
I saw a similar Invicta in green (with a quartz movement) and I thought it was very pretty. Hmmm.
Your wrist are about 8 in. This watch is pretty big on average wrists which are about 7.5in. great watch though. Fits real nice on your wrists.
Do you think it'd be possible to put the MTP-S100 inside the case of an MDV-106?
That's a good question. There are other folks who've done a lot of different modifications on these watches but I've never seen anyone talking about putting a different movement inside the MDV-106 case.
Great review
I noticed in the description you say WR 100 meters, its WR 200 meters. Just saying.
Oh, thank you. I fixed it.
I like the way u describe the video cool video...
that's not a small wrist at all, dude is a giant
You make that 44mm Duro look like a small watch. You, ser, have a big ass wrist.
If Casio could just upgrade the lume they use so many of their low end analog watches would be near perfect.
solid tutorial, tnx!
How has your company provided your stomach?
I'm not sure what you mean. I don't understand the question.
Accurate to within 20 seconds a month??? That is what can be expected from a reasonably good quality automatic watch. I have the black and gold Duro and I believe that the accuracy is between 3 and 5 seconds fast per month.
