Under $55 is amazing for this watch. You're getting Japanese movt., screw down crown, screw case back, date window, 200m water resistance, and a rotating bezel... I think it's hard to even complain about all that. With the money saved you can buy several decent straps and enjoy wearing something that you know didn't break the bank.
Decades of Timex Marlins, for sure, but I'm having trouble sourcing any other Casio watch with a Marlin logo (or even a salmon for that matter). I believe an older Casio digital was nicknamed Marlin due to its water resistance, but the Marlin name is registered to Timex, and has been since the '60s, if not before. Still, the Duro is a great beater for folks with larger wrists. Gotta love Casio for value!
@@donnyboon2896 I think it has more to do with trademark infringement than anything else. I believe Timex owns the Marlin trademark, but was only using it minimally to maintain control. Now that it has successfully brought back the Marlin line, Casio's Duro (which is only nicknamed "Marlin") likely infringes on Timex' trademark. The two companies' lawyers probably had a behind the scenes discussion, ending with Casio deciding not to fight a trademark battle over a nickname. We'll probably never know what went on behind closed doors, but I find this is the most likely scenario. Either way, as much as I like its specs, design and price, the Duro is too big for my 6.5-inch wrists, so I will admire it from a distance (and enjoy my multiple SKXs, 2nd-gen Monster, and other comparatively smallish divers). Cheers
i wondered about his experience, but he did show it on cam, so i cant really discount his experience. i just got mine from amazon and i'm typing from 2024, no issues here. what i do recommend is to ensure the order is fulfilled and is sold by amazon and not by a reseller or go to casio directly so issues like what he experienced can be addressed and not be chucked off as watch defect as a whole.
The Marlin logo on any Casio watch signifies 200M water resistance. Some of their vintage digital watches also have the Marlin logo. It's a Casio thing.
I checked my Duro and the second hand hits all the indices perfectly. In terms of value, it shames anything under $500.00 and so for me, it was an excellent purchase.
My duro is very precise too...... I own a Rolex submariner no date and an omega seamaster 300 pro.... Out of the 3....this is the most enjoyable and fun to wear.... (the other 2 feel so small after wearing the duro).... The main thing to me is enjoying the experience of wearing a diver... This one really is a great watch for daily wear.....The case size makes it ideal for surfing and scuba diving
I agree! The other thing about them is that if you break them or lose them you're not out a big chunk of fiat currency! I dropped mine the other day on tile and cracked the glass. If it was a $300.00 watch I would have been much more bummed! I just ordered another one for $49.92 with black face!
Respectfully, Jory, I think you missed the point of this watch. It really isn't a watch guy watch. And yes, it is a basic watch and so the second hand doesn't perfectly line up with the indices (try that with more expensive quartz watches and I would bet most have the same problem). And the plastic strap isn't great, and it is kind of big. Think of it more as a starter watch for someone who already has a G shock or similar watch who is looking to dip a toe into the world of analog watches. Maybe this would be a gift for a high school kid, or a working man who wants to switch things up but can't see spending more than $100 on a watch. For those people, this is a phenomena value.
This watch is perfect for people who want a durable, rugged watch that is very affordable and still analog. I will be using this watch when I fish (I wade rivers mainly, so am in contact with water at all times). it will also be perfect for camping and backpacking.
I agree with you but I still think that this is a watch everyone should own, I have quit a few nice divers, both automatic and quartz but instill love this watch
BigBoi Ganiga right, however you have to judge it based off the purpose in which it was made. Car reviewers do not hold compact economy cars to the same standard as luxury cars. It’s about the features you get for the price you pay. The water resistance and screw down crown alone is worth $50 in my personal opinion. I really don’t care about second hands lining up exactly on a $50 watch. That being said, he was being consistent with all of his other reviews. He looks at all of this stuff no matter the price range. Still a great informative channel for watch enthusiasts.
I'm sat here looking at this watch and honestly, this looks perfect for me as a beginner watch without pushing the boat out too far. I already have a Samsung Gear 3, but i feel like it's too fragile to wear to work and basically anywhere, other than when I'm at the gym and need to track my heartrate. I want something simple, durable and functional and this ticks most of those boxes for a decent price. As far as I'm concerned it's basically the same as an invictus of the same style, but without the price tag and gaudy branding - which i personally detest.
This about your most condescending review I have heard you give. A $50 diver that can outperform many costing hundreds more is an incredible value. No watch offers more for its price, and I am including the G-shocks you fawn over regularly in that statement.
So agree. There seems to be so much snobbery about watches costing the equivalent of luxury cars or mortgages, just because, apparently, this or that "movement" is so wonderfully clever. When the truth is, a Casio Waveceptor watch is and remains the single most accurate watch any individual on this planet will ever be able to buy.
You actually proved my point with your passive aggressive responses: Primates could be monkeys, apes, or hominids. Orangs and Gorillas are both hominidae, *but* they are part of a different subfamilies (Ponginae and Homininae) Now Billfish can only be made up of two families: Istiophoridae and Xiphiidae- (only 2 families compared to the Primate’s 4 families, and NO sub-families) Not only that: Sailfish and Marlin both come from Istiophoridae, which denotes there being less of a difference between Sail fish and Marlin vs. Orangs and Gorillas. The more you know!
@@thetimeteller No. No. Bill Fish was an old guy who used to live down the street from me when I was growing up. He'd throw kittens at passersby and constantly grumble under his breath about "the Kaiser."
Duro was dedicated the end of Philippine-Japanese war. Philippine was rich in fishing industry. Marlin along with Tuna, were one of the most prized sea catches. "Duro" means pointed/impale in Tagalog. This best described what a Marlin's mouth looks like.
I got this watch last week. I am stunned at how beautiful it looks and feels on the supplied rubber strap. The second hand hits every second marker perfectly too. Next week I will order the blue one as well.
200m WR "it must have a threaded crown" - yes, the Duro does but threaded crowns are not necessary for WR. They prevent accidental activation of the crown under water but the gaskets inside the stem are what prevent water intrusion. Fortis and others have watches without threaded crowns that exceed standards at 100-200m WR. There are articles online about this issue, because many erroneously assert that WR is somehow dependent on crowns being threaded. As for the crown binding - try taking waxed dental floss, wrapping it around the threads, and running it back and forth a few times. Often eliminates that binding on stems-crowns if there are not any burrs in the metal.
Just a great watch regardless, even if it was twice the price ot more.. I'd prefer to have this on my wrist than flashing around a omega or rolex to show off!
Just scored one off of Amazon for around $50 with tax. Came with the much-maligned resin band. Hacked it to NIST (WWV) and put it on about _three days ago_ and have not taken it off. For its 44 mm size and supposed bulkiness, It's incredibly comfortable and has lost precisely *ZERO SECONDS* over the 72 hours. It's a keeper!
I just bought 2 of these for $13 each on sale at Walmart tonight, one for me and one for my wife. The associate said they'd been sitting in the case for a very long time and they wanted to clear some space for new stock. I just couldn't pass them up at that insane price!
I wish our Walmarts had the watch selection of American ones. Used to be decent (never seen a Duro though) but a couple years back they eliminated the watch counter and just displayed the watches on the shelves. The selection got correspondingly worse as a result.
Are you sure you didn't buy the Casio #200 model instead of this one that's the #106...? $13 is around the best sale price on the #200 model. Also a great watch
I know I'm a bit late to the game with this video, but I love this watch. I am a certified SCUBA diver, and I use this watch as a backup to my dive computer. And yes, I had to replace the resin strap with a nato strap. Simple, reliable, and practical. I will eventually upgrade, but this gem works for now.
The Casio Duro is the very best bang-4-the-buck dive & quintessential tool watch. It's truly an economical budget dive watch treasure. On every scuba adventure, this goes with us, (& has never failed) while the far more pricey mechanical dive watches stay safely at home away from corrosive, salty, deep sea water. Back when I bought it, the cost was only $30. Cheers to all on this T3 channel & Jory's favorite Snyder's pretzel pieces! 🍻🍺🍺👏⌚ FYI: Duro = Durable/tough/hard. The marlin is used on most Casio analog dive watches with at least a 200m water resistance. Plus, around 80% of these have the second hand hitting the hash marks perfectly...all the way around.
Whether you are scuba diving, working out, at work ( I am in healthcare), or a night out. This watch will do it all with you at a very affordable price.
I just picked one of these up from Walmart and I see why people have been talking about them so much. I spent years looking at it because the size, but I think I'm in love lol.
My Duro is 4 or 5 years old, and it's typically my work watch. It's been around the block a few times, so to speak, and has held up beautifully. The hands, including the second hand, DO line up on mine. The crown is not noticeably rougher than my Seikos or Citizens. Maybe you got one that wasn't their best effort. Mine has been bumped around, but the crystal has not scratched, which surprised me on an inexpensive watch. True, the lume isn't the greatest, but since the hands and pip do glow longer, it's usually good enough to tell time in the dark. If Casio decided to make a solar version, I'd buy one in a second.
Me too. I've been waiting for a solar version. I also have the MTP sS110, a 100m solar and tried to swap the engine as visually they look interchangeable but when i opened them up, they are different. But yeh solar version would definitely be in my wish list.
A solar model would take this to another level. And knowing Casio, they would only add another 20 dollars to the price. Unlike other watch brands that would jump the price by 100 dollars or more.
This is the best diver for the money with 200 m waterresistant. I have it in black/gold. It is robust and reliable. The second hand does not need to be perfect. It really works for me like a G-Shock. The strap is durable and great if you go swimming etc.
If you happen to be a diver who likes analog watches (like me) this watch is a great value. The less I spend on gear, the more I can spend on dives. As for the lume comments, that the pip and hands match lume intensity is fantastic. If you are actually diving the watch at night, all you need to be able to see where the minute hand is in relation to the pip. Other watches, including a lot of the more expensive micro brands fail that test, as the pip is often the first thing to fade. Long live the Duro!
“Duro” is short for “Durable “ . The Marlin is on the dial because Casio used to have a dive watch called the “Marlin” they discontinued and replaced with the Duro. They kept the Marlin on the face to let people know this was the replacement. When I got my Duro, I replaced the plastic strap for a NATO Bond strap and it is a very attractive looking watch now. Never liked the way those plastic straps looked or felt. All in all, I’m very satisfied with it!
Gave my son my collection of earlier watches including brands like Tissot, Citizen, etc. Sent my Rolex to get serviced and needed a temp watch. Got this watch and is currently used as my "beater". GREAT value for money with this watch. Accurate, reliable, solid .... I switched out the strap for a silicone option as it's my personal preference. Only positive review from me ..... best value from a watch at this price point.
Still on my list! I think you just keep forgetting it's a quartz watch. You really don't need to unscrew that crown very often. It just keeps on ticking!
Maybe the time to find out that it is a marlin and that “duro” means tough would be BEFORE the review. Just like maybe the time to find out that Timex indiglo is a back light would be BEFORE the review.
I've owned several. I beat the hell out of it building airplanes: solvents, metal chips, scraping and dragging through hydraulic tubes, control cables and electrical wiring. It tells me when my meeting is, when lunch is, when the parts guy will be here.. Never misses a beat. Never comes home with me. I wash my hands and change into street clothes, and into my Submariner or Speedmaster at the end of the day for the drive home, to the bar to meet friends for happy hour. The Marlin earns the paycheck year after year.
I bought this watch over 18 months ago. Its been one of my dailies and gets so many compliments. Ive gotten the Blue one for my brother, father in law and so many others. Everyone loves this watch. Throw it on a mesh and its lovely.
Good review, thank you. I enjoy what you do. But IMHO you missed a point or two. (1) This watch is referred to by many as "the Duro" because it has earned a reputation for durability. Less rugged than a G-shock, it is still a good daily beater. (2) You also noted that it is a good-looking submariner homage for the price - but it did not occur to you that appropriately strapped it can also be worn for dress or the office without apology. I doubt the comparably priced G-shock you prefer would offer that kind of flexibility. Good accuracy, durability, looks, suitable as a beater or for business or dress, and excellent value make it the popular winner that it is. Timepieces that cost five times as much too often fail to deliver five times the value of this watch.
@@idrnoelprobably shouldn't do that with any Casio. If myself or any of my business associates saw someone wearing a Casio at a formal event trying to play it off like a dress watch they'd be laughed out of the function.
This is my everyday work watch, the resin band gives me no trouble whatsoever, I have around 8" wrist, smaller watches look funny on me, this one fits perfect.
The second hand missing the indices is probably caused by gravity taking up a small amount of play in the drive train. Try laying the watch flat or upside down and see what happens.
I think you are on to something there...look at 12:47 ish and on the table it looks to be hitting things after the 12. Could be the angle. But anyway, unless the OCD is in full effect, I dont think I would notice while on wrist...
I feel like I got outright robbed with my invicta pro diver. This feels so much better, it feels like a “real” watch. Have a seiko coming this weekend so we’ll see about that and I got My eye on the vostok next…
i've got one of these and the seconds hitting the markers was so spot on i spent $1100 to get casio's oceanus dive watch, which also has secs hand spot on. YOU may not have noticed (but i did) that by the middle to end of your review, after letting the secs hand break in a bit, it was hitting spot on around the dial...as mine still does after a year. similarly, the threads will screw in more smoothly over use. this is an outrageous watch not only for the price, but compared to even $1000 quartz watches where the secs don't ever hit markers right on (talking omegas, etc). casio does it right in that regard. do go back and check the secs hand around 'after 12' to 30 side of the dial, and later in the review you will notice it's hitting. i love the watch, not only does it look super compared even to a rolex sub (why it is an icon), but it's the best watch for money probably in existence. no, i don't work for casio. p.s....the 'duro' stands for 'durable'.
My favorite part of this watch...it's high quality and very affordable. I wear this to the beach and diving. If it breaks, I spend another $40 and get another one. This is one of my favorite watches to wear out in the water. And come on Jody...the "swordfish" is a Marlin.
I had TWO first gen DURO watches MAR-300. Looked totally different All brushed stainless with fluted sides and metal link band. Great watches. In fact I have owned sooo many inexpensive Casio watches, and NEVER owned a bad one.
This my work watch, I work in a paint and body shop, and this a pretty nice watch for the price. Tough, stainless steel case and band hold up to solvents well, just something that feels more “proper” than a g shock. My seconds hand lines up well, and crown is easy to unscrew, however the bezel binds up the last quarter turn for some reason. It’s not the sort of watch you sit and look at and enjoy, it’s just a watch. Put it on, go to work, and it tells you what time it is. I went from G shocks to this mainly because I work around solvents, painting cars, and G shocks do not hold up to solvents over the long term. Stainless steel is easy to clean up, and strap is replaceable.
Gshock is a different look for a watch, so while the specks May be good or better for the price, I am not sure I would compare if you are looking at a diver watch. If you are going for the diver, the Duro is worth a look for the price and what it gives you in value and looks.
That's why I have this and not a g-shock. I wanted a work watch that will take the severe beating that goes with my job, but I wanted a more classic look, and I've never liked g-shock watches, they just look geeky and oversized. I wanted a simple watch with hands on it. It's now my favorite watch, because it's now been there through many experiences, and has the scars to prove it.
This is my water time watch: swimming, sailing, fishing, kayaking. It holds under four seconds per month (some months uynder two) and is a great deal at less than $50. I put a black metal bracelet on mine. Highly recommended. PS “anti-reverse” is so you can’t bump it and disastrously lengthen your bottom time.
The second hand on my Duro is spot on with the chapter ring markers, maybe I got a good one? Really the only weak points in this watch is the lume and the crystal. I got mine for $42, so for a beater work watch, I can live with it.
If you have an skx007 diver and you want to keep it in good shape, then this is the watch to get to scratch that diver itch for a small price. I'm def getting this on Amazon
I'm a chef and although I love nice watches this casio has been on my wrist more than any other watch. It has survived slamming into metal ovens, iron pans, splashing hot oil, being steamed, being drenched in lemon juice and salad dressings, being shaken vigorously and being cleaned under warm water every end of the shift. Still it tells me accurately when the chicken breasts and steaks are ready and when to flip the fish on the grill for 5 years. I wouldnt do that to any more expensive watch. This watch has a special place in my heart.
I love my casio duro . i bought 3 of them brand new for 15bux each. Its a daily beater watch that i just love. I put a high end divers band on it and made it look like 100bux... Changing the band on these makes it pop. I also put a all black nato band on one. These are great watches for the price. You cant go wrong with this solid reliable watch in my opinion.
A 200 Meter Diver's Stainless with Japanese Quartz at $50 is unbeatable >> I've tried many Casios and I can tell ya they offer pretty good watches at super prices and most importantly they don't compromise on quality.
bought two each for 60, totally worth it , looks crisp and for any occasion. I like gshocks however they look like and feel like toys compare to the Casio Duro
For $50 this is a great watch! I bought this watch a week ago and it's become my daily watch. I've gotten more comments of this watch then my other more expensive watches.
The Casio Duro was my first watch. Wanted something that could be worn in a factory. I bashed it into metal carts all day and it is still like new. I still keep it in my daily rotation.
I purchased a Seiko Monster a few years back. They came with the 7S26 automatic movement. I had it for a week and was really getting attached to it. Then when putting on my wrist, it slipped out of my hand and fell from 3 feet high onto my padded carpet floor. I picked it up and put it on my wrist and went to work. A couple of hours later, and the watch was running 20 minutes slow. It never kept time again, so I took it to a jeweler. He opened it up and said, "Yep, you have broken the mainspring." He could tell it was from an impact. This clearly would not be covered under warranty. He quoted me the cost of replacing the movement at about the same cost I paid for the watch. No point. I lost a couple of hundred bucks in that moment. From 1 drop. My next purchase was a Casio Duro. No issues at all.
@@ravan85 I have had mine for a year i do tough labor gone in water bashed alot against metal it still works like a charm and people mistake it for a sub time to time
This is my work watch. I wear it with a NATO, and it gets absolutely beaten to hell, and it just keeps going. It lives up to it's name, and it does exactly what it was meant to do. This watch is meant to be a super tough, reliable and accurate 200M dive watch that's extremely affordable. It excels at this.
I've got a very old 5513 I've worn most days for decades. I'm going to get one of these Casio's asap, Very good value. I'll install a look-alike metal strap, and wear it as a "rough day" watch. And, I'll use it as a jewelery box decoy in case somebody comes looking for my primary in a night time break-in.
Casio Duro also comes with a blue face and a blue basal and one with a black basal that has gold tone, making it a two tone watch. Both available on Amazon and Ebay.
In my opinion the new blue Duro they just came out with is by far the best looking. Just bought one and the seconds hand actually lines up with all the indices. Not sure if that’s how all of them are now or if I just got lucky.
I've the classic black one. Love it. Imho best bang for buck diver! Paid €70 a year ago on Amazon marketplace Germany. The new blue one seems to be US only - would love to have it!
Yeah. Those newer colored ones aren't really thrilling me. Gold/steel/black just usually isn't good. And I have a blue watch I bought 25 years ago. I'm not sure anyone needs TWO blue watches. :)
The MDV106B variant is outstanding!!! The sunburst blue dial and blue bezel are just regal. 👑 Changing the standard strap to either a bracelet or leather. 😎🤓😎
Hi, two months ago I bought my blue Duro from greatwatches.co.uk shipped to Spain. Indeed one year ago I bought from them the original black one. Despite the web name and that you have to pay in pounds they are located in Las Vegas. Paid about 60 euro and shipment was about 15 days. Regards.
Yo time teller or anyone else! I'm thinking about getting a Seiko SSB319P1 and I'm wondering if it's good? It's not talked about much but from the specs it seems great for what I'm looking for. Please respond to me in the comments if you have any thoughts🍻
Duro = Durable/tough/hard & the marlin symbol is used on most Casio analog dive watches with at least a 200m water resistance. When BOTH appear on the same watch you've got a durable & tough dive watch that can withstand 200m of water pressure without water ingress. Plus, around 80% of these have the second hand hitting the hash marks perfectly...all the way around.
I don't think the word Duro has anything to do with the Marlin. Marlin is another nickname used for the watch, because Marlin on the dial of course. Duro is Latin and Spanish for tough rugged and hard
just gone on a trip back to my youth - casio F91W for 9.77 GBP including postage. Wore these for years, swimming, biking etc etc cheaper to buy new when battery wnet. My sons favourite watch!
As someone with a smaller wrist I got the predecessor model MDV102-1AV. with a 42.5mm diameter. Plus it has a light to illuminate the dial. The MDV102 has been called a flashlight with a watch attached. The Duro and the Marlins have quite a following.
Hi, Jory...I have to say, the Casio Duro "Marlin" is perhaps not treasure, but CERTAINLY not trash, price point notwithstanding. Call it a beater or what you will, I think you get more than what you pay for with this watch, which doesn't pretend to be what it's not. Yes, it's kind of large, but anyone who has small wrists knows that they're buying (one hopes, anyway), and for someone like me, with somewhat larger wrists, it looks and feels fine. The Duro is basically my "travel" watch, in that it's a quite satisfactory watch that can be replaced if lost or damaged for a price that won't break my heart or wallet. Thanks for the video!
I believe "Duro" is Italian for 'strong' or 'hardy'. Also, the Marlin is a very strong saltwater game fish. Properly prepared, they are delicious. So, "Duro" and the Marlin logo appear to fit together.
I bought the black dial about six months ago at a military exchange. Checked the second hand first because I am OCD like that too. The first two were off, the third one was good and I bought it. Liked it so much I went back and also got the blue dial and the gilt. That’s all three variants with the marlin on the dial and case back. The resin straps are throwaways. I put the black dial on a Barton rubber strap, and the blue dial on an oyster-style bracelet. Not sure yet what to put on the gilt. If you want the accurate second hand, buy in a store and not online. But if you want the marlin markings you better move fast. The gilts are already difficult to find in stores. I have a W5600 g-shock too. I like it a lot but they are not substitutes for each other except on the price tag.
@Ray Han Yeah, could be. From what I know, if silicon oil is used it will damage the lume in time. But if Fluorinert is used I think you're safe. This is especially designed for cooling electronics by submersion. However, successfully modding a Duro or another inexpensive watct (The black MRW looks like a million bucks when oil filled) if the watch fails after a few years, I wouldn't be mad...
I bought two of these for just over $40 each. The second hands line up very well with markers and the screw down crown is fine. My only complaint is the amount of play in the bezels. I have about 20 watches from Rolex to gshock but I keep putting this one on. If wears smaller than 44 and feels great on. If you don’t have one, get one.
In Portuguese Duro means durable, as in Italian and Spanish. This watch is great, had mine for a year. It looks great, is hard as hell, and is practical. I've worn it to the beach on vacation and to fancy dress up work events. Provides good variety.
Picked one up at a pawn shop for $8 with a dead battery. Been my favorite beater for about a year on a cheap stainless strap from amazon. I’ll randomly throw it on a red nato for a little mixup action.
You really can't place to much of a demand on a Casio watch in that price range -$50 if Bill Gates likes it, that gives it some cool factor! Great review Jory!
Too much demand? These are the ultimate beater watch. Absolutely indestructible, and reliable to boot. Mine gets absolutely beaten to hell in my job in construction.

He says, "am I missing something?"....er, yes. Decades of Marlin history.
I was hoping he was joking.
@@donnyboon2896 I think it has more to do with trademark infringement than anything else. I believe Timex owns the Marlin trademark, but was only using it minimally to maintain control. lololol. Famous last words

The Marlin logo on any Casio watch signifies 200M water resistance. Some of their vintage digital watches also have the Marlin logo. It's a Casio thing.
And the Duro just means durable
More power to Duro watch
The second hand on mine lines up perfectly just as they're supposed to.
The crown on my watch also works just fine. I can find no fault with the Duro at all. You must have gotten one that was made on a Friday.
It is, but it's too big!
Yeah, he sounds like a prissy b*tch.
@@mifi5913 he is 😂
g shock is the best :3
Well lets drop it or hit then..it may be a casio..that doesnt make it shock resistant..its a water watch
The swordfish is a Marlin, Marlin standard is basically the branded way they certify their watches are water resistant to 200m.
No No It isn't a Marlin: it's a Sailfish !!! Like calling a Gorilla an Orang Utan, same family, different sort.
They’re all billfish.
The Time Teller Gorillas an Orangs are all primates, so what's your point? It doesn't matter what the image is as long as it's the same species?
You actually proved my point with your passive aggressive responses:
Primates could be monkeys, apes, or hominids. Orangs and Gorillas are both hominidae, *but* they are part of a different subfamilies (Ponginae and Homininae)
Now Billfish can only be made up of two families: Istiophoridae and Xiphiidae- (only 2 families compared to the Primate’s 4 families, and NO sub-families)
Not only that:
Sailfish and Marlin both come from Istiophoridae, which denotes there being less of a difference between Sail fish and Marlin vs. Orangs and Gorillas.
The more you know!

I got this watch last week. I am stunned at how beautiful it looks and feels on the supplied rubber strap. The second hand hits every second marker perfectly too. Next week I will order the blue one as well.
They look and feel great on nato straps as well!!
Love my Duro, think you kind of missing the point, bang for your buck! And keeps better time than any automatic...
Agreed!
It is a must have. One of the best watches I have owned
What a poor review. This watch is an AMAZING value
Yeah thats what happens when a watch snob makes a review.....

Just a great watch regardless, even if it was twice the price ot more.. I'd prefer to have this on my wrist than flashing around a omega or rolex to show off!

@@unclejoe6811 Durex. Duro means hard in Portuguese, Spanish and Italian and that would be a bit to much.
I just ordered my third one, the Pepsi model, for $47 from Walmart. I was feeling pretty good until I saw I could have got it at JC Penny for $37!
I just bought 2 of these for $13 each on sale at Walmart tonight, one for me and one for my wife. The associate said they'd been sitting in the case for a very long time and they wanted to clear some space for new stock. I just couldn't pass them up at that insane price!
Yep same here. WM Fernley NV
Duro means Hard in spanish. In Argentina Casio sells as "Marlin", that is the fish in the logo
hard and also tough :) Also a spanish Duro is one old coin of 5 pesetas. haha
FYI: Duro = Durable/tough/hard.

@@reyprotskiful Yeah - or put a movable bezel on the MTP sS110 - it's like either one is just a bit shy of perfection.
A solar model would take this to another level. And knowing Casio, they would only add another 20 dollars to the price. Unlike other watch brands that would jump the price by 100 dollars or more.
Out of all debate, this watch is definitely a must have to collect.
This is the best diver for the money with 200 m waterresistant. I have it in black/gold. It is robust and reliable. The second hand does not need to be perfect. It really works for me like a G-Shock. The strap is durable and great if you go swimming etc.
I have two Omega Planet Oceans, and I end up wearing my $45 Duro with $25 OEM Casio bracelet more 😂.. brilliant watch!
In Spanish Duro means resistant, strong.
I don't think it has anything to do with swordfish
oscar gustavo arcos ruiz It also means hard.
Mino Castro synonymous
I think they only put a sword fish to simbolize that is hard, strong and water resistant. And that's also why they named it "Duro"
In portuguese means the same.
I've owned Rolex, Omega, Panerai, Oris and others, this watch is next on my list to buy!! I love the look and especially the price point.

I wash my hands and change into street clothes, and into my Submariner or Speedmaster at the end of the day for the drive home, to the bar to meet friends for happy hour. The Marlin earns the paycheck year after year.

Timepieces that cost five times as much too often fail to deliver five times the value of this watch.
this is the exact truth ^. the legend continues....
Spot on 👍
I have seen a colleague wear this with a stainless steel bracelet to a black tie party. Can't do that with a gshock.
But anyway, unless the OCD is in full effect, I dont think I would notice while on wrist...

i've got one of these and the seconds hitting the markers was so spot on i spent $1100 to get casio's oceanus dive watch, which also has secs hand spot on.
Literally wearing this watch right now, I was turning the bezel and this popped up in my notifications
Tape ur camera lol 🤣😭😭😅
This watch is a work horse. It is also beautiful. For the money it is nothing short of a legend. Plain and simple.
Agreed. I have many watches, including Patek, Omega etc but, I wear my G-shock everyday, it can take a beating.
I wear this when I'm traveling through tougher areas / countries. Never failed me, great watch that looks good and is durable.
bought two each for 60, totally worth it , looks crisp and for any occasion.

Casio put’s it on 200m WR watches
Duro = Durable/tough/hard & the marlin symbol is used on most Casio analog dive watches with at least a 200m water resistance. When BOTH appear on the same watch you've got a durable & tough dive watch that can withstand 200m of water pressure without water ingress. Plus, around 80% of these have the second hand hitting the hash marks perfectly...all the way around.
it’s a diving watch?🤷
I don't think the word Duro has anything to do with the Marlin. Marlin is another nickname used for the watch, because Marlin on the dial of course. Duro is Latin and Spanish for tough rugged and hard
just gone on a trip back to my youth - casio F91W for 9.77 GBP including postage. Wore these for years, swimming, biking etc etc cheaper to buy new when battery wnet. My sons favourite watch!
‘Duro’ means HARD in Spanish. Durable. Which is a pretty good description for this watch.
As someone with a smaller wrist I got the predecessor model MDV102-1AV. with a 42.5mm diameter. Plus it has a light to illuminate the dial. The MDV102 has been called a flashlight with a watch attached. The Duro and the Marlins have quite a following.
The blue dial Duro has a beautiful sunburst dial
I'm loving these affordable watch reviews. It's like Top Gear reviewing a KIA Rio hatch. 👍
I believe "Duro" is Italian for 'strong' or 'hardy'. Also, the Marlin is a very strong saltwater game fish. Properly prepared, they are delicious. So, "Duro" and the Marlin logo appear to fit together.
Joseph McDonald Duro means hard in Italian and Spanish
Oil modding would be very NOICE~~

@Ray Han Yeah, could be. From what I know, if silicon oil is used it will damage the lume in time. But if Fluorinert is used I think you're safe. This is especially designed for cooling electronics by submersion. However, successfully modding a Duro or another inexpensive watct (The black MRW looks like a million bucks when oil filled) if the watch fails after a few years, I wouldn't be mad...
@@carpandrei7493 agreed. Plus the Lume on this guy is just meh anyway. So fill it with oil to your heart's content.
Great video Jory, amazing content these weeks of quarantine!
Will you talk about the metal finishing, the glass fjnishing, the bezel?
As a Mexican, I approve the Duro behind this watch 😂😂 When I saw you mention the Duros I flipped out 😂 Thanks for your review.
Except now Bill Gates wants to put a chip on every American...that ain't happening!
Too much demand? These are the ultimate beater watch. Absolutely indestructible, and reliable to boot. Mine gets absolutely beaten to hell in my job in construction.
@@VinceRegan I really don't care much about him and people of high profile and money power!
Vince Regan Yeah! I wanna know who died & made Bill Gates king! He’s a rich computer nerd, no more, no less!
