But there is also almost certainly an influence of American accents on the Irish (and others) accent today given the huge cultural influence America has in the modern world.
Is he spot on? I mean, we in Ireland, don't have a British accent, despite them being here a lot longer than any Irish person has been in the Caribbean.

Especially when people actually have the audacity to criticize him for only giving 5% of the proceeds to the stated purpose.... His response was legendary. He started giving 1%. He said F you I'm Bono
Interviewed Bono many times.. different spots in the world...always thoughtful, always with a glint of mischief in his eyes and, I love this, always curious. He, The Edge and I had what was supposed to be a 30-min on cam chat, turn into shutting off the cameras, ordering tea and diving into a wide-ranging, long conversation -- filled with laughter and stories and interesting questions. It was an experience I'll never forget.

Hopefully as appreciation for it has grown the band will start giving it more attention! "Lemon" is such an amazing song. I was so in love with Bono when I was like 12. Loved U2. The first CD I ever bought was 'Boy'..
