Am I the only one who finds it so cool how only Graham Nortan out of all UK talk show hosts can get some of the biggest stars in the world and yet dig out their down to earth nature?
The fact they didn't break up through their whole career, is honestly what blows me away. That's rare asf for a band. And to stay relevant throughout all these years, is also amazing.
Yup. They are in my opinion the world‘s best band. They have been my favorite since 1983, I knew there was something special about them. They were meant to be musicians.
I swear I accidentally came across this band and I have fallen in love with their entire album " songs of innocence " , every song in it is unique and so so good
British shows are like this in general though. Notice they can also curse(maybe not from this clip in particular.) There are a bunch of regulations on US television and it's overly "Structured" to be a certain way, almost as if everybody is putting on an act. And in a way, it is, whereas these British talk shows are more conversational. I think Craig Ferguson(who ironically wasn't even born in America) was the closest thing to these foreign talk shows.
Graham's Show and Jonathan Ross' show which was in the same slot (U2 were on that a few years ago) before he moved to ITV goes out on BBC1 at 10:35pm on Friday evenings. There's swearing, sexual discussion and the guests are allowed to drink (Graham does). He and Jonathan Ross pull the same trick that Michael Parkinson came up with which was to keep the guests together so they all interact and are all part of the show.
Craig Ferguson is the only American late/talk show that puts guests at ease I think but he's leaving soon..He doesn't script it and he doesn't need to put on skits and games just to fill in the time with his guests (like all the other late shows).
I ave Glaucoma too. Only in my right eye. I knew my vision was a bit blurry in my eye but didn't think much of it. It was an eye appointment in 2011 that I found out I had glaucoma. Sent me to the REI for tests. I ave eye drops that I put in my eye each evening before bed.
There is NO FRICKING WAY that my eyes have actually just witnessed U2 themselves, Robert Duvall, RDJ, AND STEPHEN FRY all in one place together. The star power would blind everyone in the room. Their combined charisma would leave everyone happy for the rest of their lives. Being in the presence of that much raw talent and intellect would be enough to leave you forever inspired and forever speechless.

My grandfather suffered from glaucoma for over 30 years until his death last year. At one point about 6-7 years ago, he went completely blind. It's a subtle disease of the eye, caused by a buildup of pressure inside it. This pressure can damage the optic nerve, leading to a loss of vision. It was difficult to detect it as well as treat it many years ago, so it is why we watched him slowly lose his sight over a long period of time. It also can give increased sensitivity to bright light - which for someone like Bono must be a daily struggle, what with all the flash photography and flickering stage lights of their shows. So the sunglasses are serving a very practical purpose, literally helping him to 'live in the spotlight'.
Yep, thankfully he has said that he's fine and he's receiving good treatment. Not sure why people get on him about it when Elton John and Slash do the same thing.
Yeah, and his "I just think they're cool, and I think Bono looks cool in 'em" definitely sounded a little pointed, like, "OK, time to stop making light of his medical condition, Graham; not cool." Graham already had a whole bit worked out, though, so decided to soldier on in spite of Bono's revelation. Kinda awkward - guess not planning out every question and basic response like the average late night show occasionally bites back.
DanHarkless ﴾Halloween videos, YTPs, & more﴿ You make two mistakes here. Firstly, Robert made that remark as self-deprecating humour, not to defend Bono against Graham. Its meant to be for the guests. Johnny Carson intentionally added stiff chairs to the set to keep his guests even more on edge and uncomfortable. Desks add a sense of authority and unbalance.
Because in America everything has to be staged. Showing the vulnerable, no barriers s and letting the guest feel at ease to go off script, freaks them out. The more relaxed surroundings with Graham’s interviews definitely pays dividends because he gets guests to open up more than most. He’s also a pretty sharp and astute interviewer and rarely misses an opportunity when given a sniff of an opening to ask the question everyone watching wants him to ask.

I saw U2 in 2010 when MUSE opened for them in NC. I have pics of Bono giving his glasses to a little boy on stage and him not having glasses on!!! Was awesome!!
maybe it's just me cause i was a teen when Achtung baby came out, but to me it's an iconic album of that era and will be. maybe not songs you would listen to regularly, maybe not even songs that hold up to the the test of time, but the music on that album is a testament to a band that before was already big, but that album is something different. Well, "one" is on it, and I guess that will be played till the end of time, however the other songs and the sound of the album is just incredible.

That song and album first got me into U2 when it first came out. I was 15. I liked Discotheque as well, but staring at the sun was one of the rare songs I loved from the first time I heard it. I borrowed the albums Pop and Achtung Baby from a neighbour and they blew my mind. Oasis were no longer my favourite band, U2 were and still are today.

My grandfather suffered from glaucoma for over 30 years until his death last year. At one point about 6-7 years ago, he went completely blind. I too have glaucoma for last 5 years now. Had surgeries done and eyes got extra sensitive to all sorts of light. Use shades everywhere.
Larry instantly turned into Kevin Bacon when he put those sunglasses on.
I love that they’re laughing at the daytime tele picture , while looking at it on a super low budget monitor.
Robert Duvall is like, "who the hell are these guys?".
More like who the hell am I?
Robert Duvall is like "That's Robert Downey Jr."
I have no idea how Robert Duvall is
Love the smell of u2 in the morning
Man, as an American I totally love the Graham Norton Show. Is it on cable TV in the US? I've only ever seen it on UA-cam.
It comes on BBC America.
Saturday evenings on BBC America
Comedy Central tried giving him an American version called “The Graham Norton Effect” but it only lasted a few months.
Oh wow...my 2 fav men in the same room...Bono and Downey. Cant believe i never seen this b4! Thanks!

haha, with the sunglasses on they all look like they've gone back to 97!
Never seem so many of my favorite people together in the same talk show. 😍
Thanks so much for your kind words
Part of me wishes I never found Graham cause now I can't stop watching. I've re-watched nearly ALL the videos he has on youtube like 3 times at this point.
I think Graham Norton's accent came back stronger.
I had no idea..I love how he handled talking about it
Thanks so much for your kind words
3:42 im seeing meme potential here when Bonno stands up
Thank fuckin god for Robert Downey Jr stepping up 2:44 xD
U2 look relaxed and happy to be there !which after a life of promoting and false smiles and laughs, seems a gift Graham Norton brings to a talk show.
Don't you know... im NOT a sex object, im a human person and i have feelings 😂
-Bono
That makes me laugh but ira The truth jajaja
Wow Glaucoma. I'll have to stop busting on all these people wearing sunglasses inside. Informative show. Thanks Graham mate!
Larry's the only one that keeps his sunglasses on! Haha too good!
I saw U2 in 2010 when MUSE opened for them in NC. I have pics of Bono giving his glasses to a little boy on stage and him not having glasses on!!! Was awesome!!
That moment when even a icon shows that he isnt perfect
I think i am losing my Memory I watched this whole thing again like it was something new ..till i seen my comment LOL
@@freakyflow lol
I mean, yeah, Bono's probably not perfect but I don't think him having a medical condition contributes to that.
maybe it's just me cause i was a teen when Achtung baby came out, but to me it's an iconic album of that era and will be.
maybe not songs you would listen to regularly, maybe not even songs that hold up to the the test of time, but the music on that album is a testament to a band that before was already big, but that album is something different.
Well, "one" is on it, and I guess that will be played till the end of time, however the other songs and the sound of the album is just incredible.
I feel Bono. I too have Glaucoma. 💯
You have it for how many time? Your vision still ok?
@@joaogilbertoborges4600 For about 5 years now. My vision is blurry now but I'm on eye drops for it and they help...
Nice of Graham to make a joke of something, (that if you are diagnosed with) will affect your day to day life dramatically.
Bono's actually pretty cool, lol. Even RDJ was sort of humbled, which NEVER freaking happens!!!
DUDE NOT GONNA LIE, EACH OF THOSE PROPS ACTUALLY LOOKED AWESOME ON THEM!
Oh my word! Two of the sexiest men in the entire universe on the same sofa. Heavenly! xx
RDJ and Bono switching eye wear!?!?! WTF did that just happen!!? I'm sorry but that's like superman and batman exchanging capes! two super hero's exchanging accouterments wow that was great
I never really like Bono before this interview, but now I do. He seems like a nice bloke.
Quite a line of names on that sofa, all at once! I need the whole thing. Cool!
Graham Norton's laugh sounds like he's chocking on an egg 🤣🤣🤣🤣
just noticed robert downey jr. is just there!! hahahaha
Robert Duvall is sitting there like “who the hell are these guys?”
My cat is named Bono. U2 was playing the day I adopted him 🤗
Was it An Cat Dubh?
Proving U2 have a great sense of humour most people can't or just don't want to see.😁
I’m 14 but I remember on my iPad one day the whole album song of innocence just popped up there I was like 6 and I remember listening to them that’s all I really listened to they were a big part of my childhood I still have it in my iTunes music since I was 6 I still listen to them I just found one minute ago that Apple gave it everyone it’s my favorite album from any artist or band of all time
He's not the only one staring at the sun, afraid of what he'll find, when you take a look inside.
"And if you look in front of you, you'll see the best talk show on planet Earth".
This is beyond funny!!! I love the laughter and U2❤️
Is it just me or do Each of the members look like other famous people? Bono looks like Robin Williams, the edge looks like chuck norris , Anthony bourdaine and the last one looks like Kevin bacon 😂🙌🏻
Bob is a real bro tho
Took me 2mins and 45secs to realize Robert Downey Jr. was there, whew, went back to the beginning real quick,...
