My husband bought this game in 2016, I watched him play this for hours on pc. It was glitchy so he put it down and took it back up during the pandemic. Again I watched him play this for hours. I wanted to play it, but my personal pc could not handle it. Fast foward to last year, I got a new pc and got the game as a gift. I love it. We have played together and now I play by myself because i love exploring the new worlds. I love the updates, it added so much depth and richness to the worlds. I love visiting the anomoly and seeing how other player have created their characters and ships. Its one of my favorite games to play and i cannot wait for what they have next!

I was there in 2016 when the game was so hyped to see it fall so hard. I had friends who wanted to explore planets, caves, fly and fight in space, to see it all end.
And fast forward to 2020 when I had no idea about No Man's Sky redemption phase- I was looking for a space game to play when they had it listed. What? This was the game with the terrible launch! But I knew nothing of the redemption phase mentioned and detailed in this video.
So I looked into the game to find it was what I had been looking for... for years.
And four years later, still playing NMS. I have over 2000 hours in this game. Hello Games deserves all the credit they have earned.

I was going to buy NMS for PC after launch in 2016, waiting for reviews, and of course, after reading them, waited until I was locked down, not only by the Covids, but a leg injury in mid-2020, when I had nothing but time. I am 7,000+ hours in since then and just when I think that might be enough, here comes another amazing update. A lot of people including myself had a great time with NMS 1.0 Sean said many times in interviews before the release of the game that not all the feature were going to be for day one, that this was a game that they wanted to keep improving and supporting. But one thing I noticed of a lot of these catch up and mini documentaries is solely putting the blame on Sony or Sean Murray and hello games.
Not only were Sony and Hello games to blame for the NMS state but also the actual community itself. It seems like the toxicity of the community back then is always overlooked in favor of Sony and hello games but players back then we're very disgusting to hello games... A lot of the pressure came from gamers wanting this game to be released sooner rather than later. down to even hacking and pirating this game and spreading it online.

... I've been there since 2016 ... but I didn't let Gaming Magazines hype me up and since I come from the IT Industry myself and was once able to work on a Game, it was clear to me that Sean Murray's Statements were his Vision for the Game that were aimed at a long Future for this Game. We must never forget that NMS is Sean's Baby, which he was already working on during his studies. I think that we can expect great Things from Hello Games and especially from NMS and that some other Developers should follow their Example.
But unfortunately that's not the Case in our fast-moving World, especially when Investors only pay Attention to quick Money and the next Stock Market Report and strive to maximize Profits at all Costs. Hello Games is refreshingly different and, in my Opinion, better.

Yeah I literally heard about the game back before it released and thought "oh cool" but the Worlds Part 1 trailer is what convinced me to buy the game. I got my brother in law into it and we play almost everyday, its super fun!

I picked it up for launch, more hype for the game than any game b4. I force myself to play for like a week b4 admitting I was disappointed. After every update I jumped back in happy with something each time. Its one of my favorite games now. I respect this company so much more than any other current company and will definitely get light no fire pre-order and I don't care if it's shit at launch I will Def invest in their ideas.

I bought it at launch and thought it was fine, I knew everyone was over hyping it like they do with every big gaming release which almost always leads to disappointment.
I started playing again with the world's release, I have about 80 hours now on a new save. it still feels like the same game, just with more bells and whistles, qol adjustments and more things to do but at its core still feels like the same game I played 8 years ago.

From day 1, in 2016.... I bought for PS4 on disk BACK then, and now on PS5 when Hello Games UPDATED it for PS5. I spend thousands of hours over the years ever since launch. To me it is getting better. When I play with my friends I play on normal mode, and on solo custom mode. I role play, explore, build, claim systems... Anyway No Nan's Sky is now a great game.

I played it on Day 1 and enjoyed it. I also didn't follow the delopment and had no idea what they'd promised. It was a bit bland, especially compared to what we have now but I played it more to relax and it filled that gap well. I recently replayed it for the first time since release in 2016 and it's like a whole new game- way better!

When I bought the game at launch I had no expectations and that’s why I was probably one of the few people who actually liked the launch version. I then periodically checked back in and I can’t be more happy with my purchase and I am excited for their next game.

I was there for the midnight release of NMS and was so disappointed with what we got and stopped playing until a bit after the Next update and was blown away even then! Now it's my favorite game of all time, I've completed all of the expeditions, have more hours in this game than any other 🙌 it's so amazing what they've done and I hope that other studios start listening to their fan base to improve off of their initial releases instead of releasing unfinished games half the time

I bought NMS for the first time a month ago, July, 2024, on my Xbox Series S. I fell in love with the game and upgraded to a series X just so I could enjoy the visuals more. It is a stunning achievement and truly awe inspiring. 'm hooked. ❤

I just bought it on switch a few weeks ago out of curiosity and with zero prior gameplay and just vague knowledge of the launch debacle i am amazed at what a deep, enjoyable game it is and the fact that HG were willing to die on this hill has earned them my undying respect, easily one of the best games i have ever played

Been playing no mans sky since 2022. I heard about the bad launch and decided to wait to see if they fixed it. After putting up with bad launch after bad launch, battlefront 1 and 2 remakes, and pther arguably bad games, like fallout 76 and more i started looking for a game that cared about its players. Enter no mans sky. The game has done a complete 180 and is easily the best game i have ever played.

What blows me away the most is that pretty much all of these updates are also on the switch version. I bought the game at launch on PS4 and it's just crazy how it has evolved. I have a pc and Xbox series X but switch is where I spend the most time. It's crazy the game runs on switch period regardless of the fact that even the worlds update made it onto switch. The graphical detail isn't as high and there are no settlements but everything else is there. Mind-blowing.

One major thing people always glaze over with the update overviews is the Random Encounter System that they added with Living Ships.
The Living Ship update made it so while pulse driving you could encounter TONS of crazy things while pulsing around from derelict freighters, children of helios, containment units, atlas messengers, etc.
It changed a LOT of how the game felt while you travelled around and I don't think it gets much attention.

If you ask me Hello Games made up for their mistake 10 times over instead of people worrying about what happened what 8 years ago they should worry about what's going on now Sean Murray is a godsend he has made Hello Games a great game beyond all our expectations and hopes and it keeps getting better this is a free game he doesn't ask nothing for it he deserves our support not our criticism. Sean Murray you earned my respect many times over

one very smart thing they did is building the game thinking about another game
Light no Fire is basically using mechanics from NMS but in a singular world, changing the theme but making use of all they've already build, making it possible to make a even bigger game, thats why i think light no fire will work really well

Absolutely LOVE this game from launch to now and obsessed with what it's become! So thanfkul for all the work the team at Hello Games have done. One thing I've been secretly praying for would be an overhaul of moons and planetary satellites at night. To have the moons and planets shine at night would be PHENOMENAL!! It would make nights that much more interesting and beautiful. I hope that comes one day!
