Such a shame we lost him. I like to imagine him in heaven, at a table with William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton. They have reunions every Novermber 23rd, John Hurt also goes, it's great.

Working in a Hotel near the Humber Bridge early 80's and Jon Pertwee (who was really tall) came in dressed as Worzel Gummidge. He heard there was a Wedding going on in and went down and into the gathering making everyone's day by doing 'Worzel.' I'd met a few famous faces in Catering, but none as pleasant to meet as Jon Pertwee, who made a lot of people happy that day and added something special to a Wedding Party. He seemed to be a genuine Gent.

What a talented and naturally funny man he was, and sadly missed. I had the good fortune to meet him twice in his Worzle Gummidge guise, with my little boy who hero worshipped him. Once at Shrewsbury Flower show where my 2 year old son asked 'Where's Turnip Head?' and Worzle replied 'Oh, he's gone up to the great compost heap in the sky!' Then we saw him again as Worzle, at the Liverpool Garden Festival. After some photos together - I joined him for a cup of tea and asked when the next series is due. He said 'That's what I want to know!'.. he then stated that there were talks of it being done in New Zealand, but he seemed very unhappy about it at that time. I was so lucky to have met him and talked with him. I have always been a fan of his work, and stopped watching Dr Who when he finished his turn at the role. God bless you Jon xx
You know how people always ask if you could have anyone you want around for a dinner party, who would it be. I think Pertwee would be one of them. He such a funny interesting bloke.
I saw Sylvester McCoy and Jon Pertwee doing the round of telly talk shows for the 25th anniversary. Both of them had me roaring with laughter, like a British version of Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters. Later I found out they'd both done music hall (UK equivalent of vaudeville) in their early days. Their timing was impeccable
I was fortunate enough to see Jon Pertwee a number of times at conventions in the 80s. He was a fabulous storyteller as well as being charming to fans even at the signing tables later. He would pull out the voices and characters to the delight of all. I miss seeing his interviews; he always had a great time.

Years ago Jon Pertwee did a side-splittingly hilarious BBC Radio 4 programme. I forget the name of the series. It was one where famous people chose readings and told anecdotes. One of his funniest was about an old lady who stopped him on the street and said she recognised him as someone famous. I love Jon pertwee. He is fantastic
Bless him a true National Treasure!
Years ago Jon Pertwee did a side-splittingly hilarious BBC Radio 4 programme. I forget the name of the series. It was one where famous people chose readings and told anecdotes. One of his funniest was about an old lady who stopped him on the street and said she recognised him as someone famous. When he tried to tell her who he was she kept stopping him, saying that she would remember. Who did she think he was? Answer: Dame May Whitty!
