    Two things, 1. break in oil is meant to flush out any leftover metal shavings/ particles from the machining process at the factory.
    2. Proximity key can be activated by a high end code reader that can go into the onboard computer and turn on or off optional features...but check with the legal department, lol.

    I literally had my 167k mile 2010 GMC Sierra 5.3 oil analysis performed by Blackstone this month. Mine has a stock 5.3 LC9 with a newer (24k Miles on upgrades) non-AFM cam, LS7 lifters, Comp Cams pushrods, upgraded Summit Racing trunion bearing rockers, and new LS3 oil pump. My ppm for iron was 58 vs this new engine so that is very good for an all new engine. Small world after all. Good specs indeed Andre as far as I would know. Comment on this if I am wrong. Excellent Video, I have a huge interest in the TRX, so many people are talking about 8 and 9mpg, however they drive them like a race car (stop and wide open). I would love for you all to do a REAL WORLD test filling it up, getting on the highway and putting the cruise control on 64mph for 100 miles, then refuel, and see what the mpg would be. I predict the TRX should be able to get 15---17mpg, but can't find any videos of people driving them "normal".

      It gets like 13/15 MPG. Which isn't terrible for a 6,000+ pound, 35 inch tires, wide truck (has a wider and stronger frame than a standard Ram 1500 which gives it a wider wheelbase for better baja capability just like the Raptor) and has 702 horsepower from a supercharged V8.

    Nice review! The TRX has changed what is expected of the Raptor, definitely, not that the Raptor was lacking. I have a 2020 GT500 so understand why people want more HP than they can legally use. I also had a 2019 Raptor SuperCab. There was no point that I ever found it lacking in HP, towing 7,000 lbs on the highway and gravel, towing a 3600lb off-road trailer up some very serious goat trails, in mud, snow,,,,, it was a quick truck, but now even my 2021 F150 XLT Hybrid is slightly quicker!! Go figure!
    The TRX is almost King of the hill, but the Raptor has it for high speed off-road running. It’s just so much lighter and more nimble, but come the straightaways, and as long as there are not many whoops, the TRX is FAST!! It’s the sound that so many people like!!! My 67 C10 with a 5.7 Ramjet and flow masters sounds much better,,,,,, it’s so harsh and rapping. Typical Mopar mind you. That’s why so many like the sound, I get it, but it’s just not my taste. Nor was the Raptor really. I am liking my regular F150 Hybrid with the Roush/Fox remote reservoir suspension kit the most so far. Fast, quiet where I want it to be quiet, 7.2 kw of electricity for remote camping/worksites. It fits my needs very well. Not everyone’s needs, but mine for sure. That’s the greatest part of trucks today,,,,, the variety is huge!!!
    Thanks Andre. It looks like this will be a very good Ram, if that limp mode or whatever it was doesn’t develop into a problem. I doubt it will, may need fixing, but it’s not the end of the world if it does. Things break. I had a 2014 Tundra that actually broke a lot!! They all can have a problem or 2 (4 strandings in that d*mn Tundra, wiring harness in the end!!).

    I want RAM to bring back the TRX4 with the hemi so I can atleast get 15mpg and can tow 11,000 lbs while getting the aesthetics (body style and 35s) and trophy truck like suspension of the new TRX.

    I could be wrong but isn’t the proximity unlocking feature selectable in the unconnect system? I ask because I have a 2020 Ram Rebel and it works with just the key in my pocket.

  • @nicka6634
    @nicka6634 3 роки тому

    The proximity key is one thing Ram needs to get better about making available on all models without having to add a whole package. It’s kind of ridiculous when you think about base model Mazda’s having it standard.

      When is a truck considered broken in enough to tow if you don't mind my asking? I've never heard that before.

    • @timpearson4040
      @timpearson4040 3 роки тому +2

      @@883kodiak My understanding is some manufacturers say 2500 some say 1000 because modern motors are partially broke in. My favorite mechanic of 30 years likes to wait 3000 to 5000 and the first oil change. Me personally that's how I would handle it at least 3000 and 1 oil change. Just my opinion with 203,000 trouble free miles on my Titan and still going strong.

    • @subarukawasaki1

      I have a 2021 Laramie and I was wondering when I could tow my camper. Owners Manuel says “does not recommend towing before 500 miles” witch makes me think it’s ok to tow after 500 miles because nothing else is said about waiting any longer. I personally feel like 500 miles is way to soon. I won’t be towing until next year.

  • @cpear760

    Yes. I hate that about options. I just want the heated steering wheel or just add the mud flaps. Oh no no no, you have to get the convenience group 2 (jk) with the headlight washers if want that heated wheel or just adding mud flaps. I feel like just buying the base model then learn from the forums what hacks to do and how many trips to the parts department until I finally have the vehicle I wanted in the first place.

  • @remsterx

    Yeah limp mode aka electrical issues are normal for ram. Depends on the day and time. Mine keeps saying the key isn’t detected and I just ask the truck why did you unlock the door then? Or I have to put it in accessory mode first then push the brake and button to start it but that method never fails

    Done Fins N Things a couple times. That trail is all about approach angle, departure angle, and wheel base. You can take damn near anything on wheels through Fins N Things if it's not a bus. lol The fact that the TRX can do Fins N Things doesn't impress me. I've seen old Land Cruisers, 4 Runners, Tacomas (even double cab long bed versions) do it.
