I've been waiting for this.Thank you TFL
You've been waiting for a sound comparison. You could take any V8 and any V6 and the V8 will sound better.. it's a lame ass test just to make a video. And a 0 to 60 on dry pavement between a truck that's 200 horsepower more, is that supposed to be a joke too.. I wanted to see an off-road comparison between two off-road vehicles and instead I got a video with two dudes babbling about statistics. The only thing positive I could say is I like both of the trucks..

Yep, as well as the gas and having it working on.
However, did you know that Ford has been in litigation (they got sued) due to their wrong mpg numbers for the last 5+ years. Owners sued because their "Eco boost" engine returned the same mpg as the v8 models...
@@Bluebeast2005 True my friends 15 f150 ecoboost only avgs. 15.5 to 17 mpg.
Dominic Zanella the hellcat engine can still get over 25 mpg. I’m assuming if you drive normally the TRX can do the same.

And those are the main numbers that I've heard from all the F150 buyers I talk to. None of them break into the 18s or higher unless it's 90%+ highway which is ludicrous!
I absolutely hate this mpg game, it is such a sham.
What an amazing time we live in when a 450hp truck is the granny one of the group!
450 hp has seemed a little modest (for a halo product) for awhile now given that GM and Ram have been putting 400+ hp V8s into "regular" trucks for a long time now. Doesn't the 6.2 make like 420 HP?
@@tcv4 No doubt! Without any real challenger, Ford didn't have any incentive to do much more than a small boost to 450hp.
This challenge from Ram is going to be a good this for Fiat fans and Ford fans alike. This will no doubt encourage Ford to step up their game with the Raptor, especially since so many people have been complaining about it having a V6.
@@billyunderwood7221 it makes you wonder why Ford went away from the V8 in one of their more sought out trucks. Now don’t get me wrong, the V6 ecoboost high output is fun just lacking the sound and some power.
@@felixvidales8786 I know Ford has really been pushing that EcoBoost, and it is an amazing engine. I think Ford realizes that they made a mistake by not using some kind of V8 powerplant. Anyone who wants a halo truck like that is also going to want that amazing V8 sound to go along with it.
That V8 sound, that V8 sound, I know it's the same thing said twice but it's so important it needed to be said twice
Ford engineers forgot we wanted a badass American truck to sound like one, not like a 350z lol
Well to be fair, When Ford was designing the new F150 back in 2009 (first gen 3.5 turbo f150 came out in 2011), they were facing very strict government fuel economy regulations that were supposed to go into effect in 2012, as were all US car manufacturers. In order to meet them, dropping V8s and eventually going to aluminum was the only way that was going to happen. Then in 2016, most of those regulations were relaxed so Ford go screwed a bit.. Luckily, the Ford f150 still sold very well and it was the fastest, most powerful, light truck for 6 years even with the puny V6 . Now that Biden will likely win the election, those regulations will likely be coming back. So Ford will again be in a good spot. But only time will tell...

Ford can't compete with dodge when it comes to interior
As somebody who used to sell Fords they can't compete with Dodge in most categories. The 3.5 ecoboosts are known for turbo and timing chain failure and I've seen them blown up with less than 70k miles. The 2.7 ecoboost is the better engine if you ask me. Their interiors are very plain compared to Dodge, and even though Ford uses a 10 speed which is a good transmission I can't personally knock the ZF 8 speed in the Ram. And in accidents I've seen pictures of the cabs ripping off the body mounts with the aluminum body, but I will say it is lighter and wont rust but will corrode. Overall though I'd say the new Ram is an overall better truck. Say what you want about past Chrysler products, they really stepped up their game recently and it shows.
except they arent dodges anymore. just ram. also they are fiat now as fiat bout chysler dodge and jeep
@RSD 3 lol why u lying 😂😂 I drive a 2019 Rubi .. water pump failure, front and real crank seal leak, cheap inner fenders, transmission glitch.. list goes on. And is only 15k on the clock.🤦♂️
@RSD 3 in not complaining .. I like the jl .. and I had the jk before and it has it set of issues in the beginning. It usually takes 3 to 4 years for a newer model to rectify all its issues. But the 8 speed in jl alone sold me to make the switch.

We cant be crowning the new king just off of a 0-60 test, we need to do an offroad test at moab or something and see which one is better there.
Exactly my thoughts.
Oh lord, I think they were crowning it based on the two test so in these 2 cats there is a new king. Once they do the others then you can add more Cats that this TRX will take away then you can tally them all and eventually usher in the new King of Speed Off Roading Trucks (Ram TRX) all Hail the King!!!! Also there is no way ford is going back to v8. That will be left up to the after market guys to make Exorcist models, Brontosaurus Raptor Models, Haunting of Hill House V8 billy billet models etc.. Any way I am just glad there is a real competitor and not just how it has been in the past with Trail bosses and , Highlanders, and Rebels. We truly have a real competitor and folks should be happier it makes both of them step the game up.
Moab is a terrible place to test these trucks. take them to Baja where they run the 1000, or take them to glamis, or Pismo something where there's speed tests options. Neither one of these trucks will do well in Moab compared to the power wagon which is the off-road king of that world as far as stock trucks go. the TRX has a rear locker, bigger tires and better ground clearance, putting the raptor at a disadvantage right out of the gate if you wanted to try and take these trucks to Moab though. Again stick these trucks near high speed moggles, and jumps that's what they were designed to do. Ford hasnt challenged the Power wagon in 15 years which makes believe they have no intentions of trying to win over that market.

What about reliability comparison between the two companies? Ram is notorious for breakdowns. Am I wrong?
Wrong
Mopar designed the motor for the super charger.
It was purpose built.
It could withstand the power of 6 buicks on that motor.

It got smoked bad.
So did the Chevy Jackel so did the super snake gt
500 mustang.
Now the Durango is the the Fastest SUV at 3.5 0 to 60
As far as reliability the turbo on Raptor and other fords carbon fowls at about 30,000 miles.
It is from cold starts.
Since the turbo is out of warranty Ford charges you for a new turbo.
Big bucks when they could clear the carbon out of the intake manifold and keep the same turbo.
Consumer reports ranked Ram number one this year for reliability.
It beat the Japanese imports and Ford and Chevy.
The good news Ford was number two.
I'm for American Trucks I did my research and bought a 2019 GMC van with the 6 liter motor.
The 6.2, 5.3 and 4.3 had oil consumption problems.
Ram vans were mixed with fiat crap.

@@raionshishi8290 eh
So it will cost 15 grand more and still lose. My ram 1500 5.7 with etorque will beat that raptor to 60. Not off-road but u get what im saying. I drove all 3 half tons and the hemi dodge with its interior absolutely smoke the other two. Not even close. Add the etorque for economy and see ya.
@Jeff Meyer LMAO do your research before you decide to reply to a comment... your “economy” truck has a 0-60 of 6.6 seconds where as a raptor has a 0-60 of 5.5 seconds and gets worst mpg than the raptor. Your truck gets 15/ 21 mpg (city/highway) where as the raptor gets 19/25 mpg. Just to add on to this, your truck if it’s literally not a shit spec would cost nearly as much as a raptor (or more depending on how much you spec it out). I literally just disproved everything you said in the previous comment (these specs are for a 2020 crew cab 1500 5.7L etorque and the 2020 raptor) all of the proof to back up previous statements are on carindigo.com. Hope you learned your lesson.
the raptor sounds terrible. that is not how a 75k truck should sound.
Where have you been the last 5 years...we all know that. Wait for the raptor with the Shelby motor
@@chrisnewby5713 facts yo
@@chrisnewby5713 you wont be able to buy one. They will be super rare and expensive. Ford has no real intention of making the V8 widely available for the raptor.
Paul J right? That Predator engine costs something like $40,000 as a crate engine! The TRX is going to be rare and expensive as well unless they offer a more affordable one with less HP.
@@jaysson1151 The difference is if you have the money you can buy a TRX, if you have the money for the limited Raptor V8 you still don't get one.
Take the engine cover to see a t rex eating a raptor lol
The Raptor sounds like one of these Fast and Furious wanna be kids in their 4 and 6 cylinder cars with pipes ! 😆 Sounding like a weedeater coming down the road. But to them it sounds BAD A**! LMFAO!!!!
It took 10 years for Ram to be at Ford Raptor’s level ! And 3 generation of Raptor is still yet to come out
That's because they never tried to be at the Raptors level. And now that they have, well they blew the Raptor out of the water. I think Ford has some real work to do for this next generation of Raptor if they want to get their title back.
@@assassin1654 what’s it like being stupid?
@@MrDefaultplayer1 You should know the answer to that!
For 10 years of buildup, research by dodge,Fiat this thing should just blow the Raptor away, but I bet it'll only be close and then the next gen Raptor will again eclipse the ram, then back to the drawing board. Not to mention how many years of good times/memories for the Raptor owners they enjoyed while ram drug their knuckles and GM was in the basement sleeping,so I fully expect ram to bring it...finally, but like mentioned earlier it'll be short lived, not to mention the nearly 3 figure price tag that ensures only a few will be able to attain such a vehicle.
@@assassin1654 It's still an FCA product that will fall apart.
Just your daily reminder that brand loyalty is stupid, just enjoy both for what they're good at.
The whine of the supercharger does it for me; had a 6.2 raptor and would dream of dropping in a whipple in that thing. Since they went to the 3.5 TT platform, I wish Ford would do some additional tuning on the wastegates and compressors to get some sick sounds - currently it's flat. Regardless, I'd take either of them :D
As unlikely as this is to happen, I think it would really drive home the capability of trucks like the Raptor or TRX if they took a regular Ram or F150 through some of the same tests or environments to show the comparison. Plus it would make some killer UA-cam content!
Rebel Vs. F150 FX4?
Ford guy here, that Fiat Ram would steal the Raptors lunch money any day.
Lmao I like how you try to throw some shade by mentioning fiat, srt is very much dodge and this comes out of the srt team.
I've been a Blue Oval fan for my entire life... it hurts to agree with you. That TRX is a bad machine!

Me too, I’m very happy with the truck.
the king was dead ever since someone decided to use a V6 in the flagship model instead of a V8

Funny, since that's when they actually started selling well.
Yeah absolutely. Imagine having an engine (that's actually extremely de tuned) that's won the Baja in stock trim, and also won Le Mans.. oh and also sells better than anything else. Yeah what a pile of shit. Get a grip you aussie clown.

@@Flying_GC You done making pathetic excuses?
I like them both but the question is there supposed to be off-road vehicles there were no off-roading today Show me that and how far can you go on a fill up in case I need to bug out
If your biggest worry is fuel economy when buying either of these trucks you sir don't need a truck like this!!! The new Humme or Tesla carr is far more your speed!!!
Username checks out.
as what FCA always like to do is to put powerful engine on every available platform so their suspension is designed to help the truck to reach its speed. No wonder why trx doesn't want to do baja 1000 because of reliability and range. having a fast car doesn't get you any longer. In off-road world, reliability and range is the key which the trx is doubtful

TRX is also good at off-roading. Its heavier and has smaller shocks but its just as capable.

Where was the other guy tho? He was in the Raptor, then jumped in after the runs. Whassupwitdat?
@@CorePathway he wanted to drive the real truck, not a gas guzzler.
Raptor was built for for off-road baja racing. TRX was built to "beat the raptor". See how the TRX has such a heavy front when jumping in the beginning? Sure it sounds better but its more likely to fail on jumps. Also the extra 600 lbs will wear out springs, shocks and other components on the truck more quickly. Have fun with those repair costs.
Bone stock 2nd gen raptor placed 3rd in stock class. I'd take one in a heart beat over the trx
It will be interesting to see if the new Raptor has the Megazilla Supercharged 7.3L as an option. A tuner with a few mid mods got over 600hp N/A, so 800 or 900 would be well withing reach with boost.
There no Honda Ridgeline but they cool 😉

*fiat*
What swinging??
Ok yes, the TRX sounds better and is faster. But when you go off-roading it’s not about speed or sound. It’s about weight, suspension, tread, shocks, differentials, clearance, etc. the Raptor has perfected that for a decade. That supercharged V8 in the TRX adds a substantial amount of weight to that truck compared to the lighter twin turbo charged V6. I mean yea the TRX is a badass truck and I’d definitely drive one, but if we’re actually talking off-roading, I’d take the Raptor over the TRX.
I second that! I took Raptor to sand dunes, and the weight gave me penalty! All the 4x4 buggies were having fun, sailing through the bumps.
Also, don't forget the fuel economy of Raptor vs TRX.
Lack of 2wd on the TRX is concerning, much higher maintenance costs? Also, I would not consider a touch screen of that size and multitude of functions reliable or rugged, which this truck is supposed to be.
@@alex_707 Oh yea definitely.
@@Tac729 I agree with you 100% seems TFL is looking at aesthetic appeals rather than off-roading capabilities
My thoughts exactly, Raptors in general were never giant monsters, they were light, fast, intelligent pack hunters, Ford has shown that perfectly in they're Raptors, I still think the Gen 2 Raptors are the perfect blend compared to other Raptors, the new Gen 3's will most definitely be crazy but they'll lose a lot of what makes a Raptor a Raptor
Yoooo. I didnt know they filmed this so close to me
