I remember almost dying because I literally couldn't breathe the first time I saw this movie and this scene because I was laughing so hard when he was screaming as the backboard was shattering around him - still hysterical now after watching it a thousand times...........
I love the way Rick says "That's sweet". It's also a pivotal part of the movie, because based on the look on Chip's face after he says it, you can tell it's what started the animosity between the him and Rick. Jim Carey and Jack Black should've made more movies together.
Wish I had a friend like Chip! Guy gives away a free entertainment set up, cable, cooks breakfast, buys hookers, treats you to Medieval Times, throws parties in your honor and last but not least... ready to hoop at any moment 😂
Doesn't matter what the critics say about this movie. I think this is one of Jim Carry's best movies. I absolutely loved it back in the day and I still do.
@@TurdFergurson I agree with you. I think those movies are his best performances in the drama genre. Comedy-wise, I think Cable Guy is one of his best along with Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, Ace Ventura, etc.
Haha, he’s dressed like a basketball player from the 1980s. I love the suicide drill, though. More people should do that sort of thing before a game. I’m really glad to see that I’m not the only one who’s friends to like this film. I didn’t get it back in 1996. Perhaps I was just too young, but even back then you could see the amazing acting chops of Jim Carrey. He’s remarkable.
That song is so perfect for this how it just starts with that quiet bass line and ends with him dunking off Jack Black with that screaming guitar, freaking hilarious "let's see what you got white shadow "
My eyebrows raised as soon as Chip mentioned, "Prison rules," right off the bat/how QUICK he recognized Prison rules, like,"Anything you want to tell Steven about, Chip?" ;) LMAO.
The song is about something very dark. One of the scariest things I ever saw in my life that still haunts me today. The internet can be a good thing, but it also is a time capsule of some very horrific things that have happened in the past.

Jack Black is hilarious in this scene. 1. when he says "Really? that's sweet" 2 after he scores and chips calls a foul his bird prancing motion is great and at the end when chip thanks him for the boost the look on his face and that shake of the head is funny
Shit was straight Metal AF lol. This scene was hilarious, first time i seen it i was dying. Jack Black screams right when the song screams, its so hilarious
I remember seeing this on VHS at the hospital after my first seizure. I thank my dad for introducing me to this movie. Coincidentally, I watched the 1989 Batman for the first time immediately after.
How can Steve not wanna be friends with Chip after this? Seriously? He "ruined the game"? He just made the most badass play in basketball history come on.
*"..oh I see it we're playing prison rules huh..."* love the part where Chip grabs on to the basketball net after a slam dunk and the glass comes crumbling and raining down on everyone while he has his mittens firmly wrapped around the net and making a sound that a wild beast would had made.
"I don't even know you!" But that didn't stop him from jumping into his van alone with him and letting him drive him to a dark and secluded place! LOL. -.-
Chip was the best player on the court. He dominated the glass, moved his feet on defense, dove for loose balls, set a monster screen and dunked on everyone. They were just upset he was better than them.
Ben Stiller, we thank you for this movie
