@@petergresh516 I understand why they left that out. Would have been just a little much for this already dark movie. I mean, if they want to leave it in, they could just have Chip injure Rick with it so he be out of the way while he recovered at the hospital or something.
I wonder if Jack black learned something about comedy from being in this movie with Jim Carrey because after this Jack black became a lot more hysterical
The difference between Rick and the Cable Guy. Rick is actually a true, trusted and a real friend. Chip is the most troubled, eccentric and intrusive who waltzed in the the life of a normal everyman. Rick gets an A+ for being a true friend. Sorry Chip you got an F due to your behavior.
That's because Rick knew Steven longer than anyone else. And the cable guy just has terrible social skills when it comes to trying to socialize with his customers.

@@abunidalparedes Do u know if Ben Stiller wrote the script? I really like the story and, just like Robin Williams, Jim Carrey is really good at being a creepy villain outside of having a funny reputation.
I think what the saddest part is that Chip could actually make some friends if he understood boundaries. The basketball scene while funny is also sad because you can see the group try to include him at first and he isn’t very understanding of their rules or boundaries. Like if he just relaxed alittle and realized you have to think from other’s perspectives and be a good listener he’d have more than just Steven who he was begging to be his friend.
I have been saying "No Way, I'm on Stevens team" at almost eveyr sporting event I've been to for decades and I completely forgot what movie I was quoting until now.
Jim Carey is Jim Carey but jack black…. The most under appreciated master of comedy although the basketball scene is one of the greatest pieces of comedic art that ever happened. Love how jablinski’s rocking the sound garden superunkown shirt that was the concert they were going to go to that’s so dope to think of how this movie was made at the same time that iconic album came out and when this movie came out it was as a just another grunge album coming out now it’s one of the top ten albums from the entire 90s
There was some legitimate tension between Carey and Black in this movie. It was intriguing. I think there could be a whole film starring those two where they play rivals or enemies. They had a delicious toxic chemistry. Yes. I am serious.
Even in real life Bowser and Dr.Eggman is in the same movie just like in the Mario and Sonic Olympic games franchise and in Wreck it Ralph 1 since Jim Carrey is Dr.Eggman and Jack Black is Bowser its like they first met in 1996 Cable Guy until in 2008 Mario and Sonic Olympic game they meet again.
For some reason your question motivated me to have a look, and unless Jack says it in an interview somewhere I can't find any way to see for sure. He's reasonably high up in the billing of the film, but he didn't make the cast listed on the film's poster. There was a lot of publicity for the headline stars of the film, as Jim Carrey was paid a then-unheard of $20m for the film, while Broderick got $2m. It's reasonably likely that Leslie Mann and George Segal would have got $1m+ for their roles, but the film's total budget was $45m so there wasn't a ton to splurge on cast salaries once the leads got paid, and Eric Roberts and Andy Dick (another actor with a regular spot on a sitcom) would have got more money than Black, who hadn't really had a breakout role yet. (This was 2 years even before he was one of the surveillance guys in Enemy of the State) I think his salary likely would have been somewhere around $50K, but that's largely just guess work on my part.

There's a deleted scene or it's in the novelization. He gets killed with the cable guy stapler gun

I definitely think he was taking notes.
Jack Black was great in Cable Guy. He didn't need pointers.
@@frank234561 he wasnt JACK BLACK though, he clearly improved insanely
Bowser and eggman
Comedians can play drama roles too. Just watch Number 23
Po and Simba, the Dragon Warrior and the Lion King
FUN FACT: Jack Black was in an episode of The X-Files, in the scene where he was killed, hey man nice shot was playing also
A comment like this led me too this video.

It’s trust. It’s not like he had a plenty of friends and lost them. His entire life is sitcoms

Bowser and Robotnik

Saw this in theaters in 96, good movie and the soundtrack! What a soundtrack indeed.
It was a time when mainstream had actually artistic (demanding music) bands like Alice in Chains and Faith no more. For a time.

Well, it seems that Dr. Robotnik met Bowser 26 years ago (I hope you caught that reference 😅)
