I learn so much about hearing aids *and* your videos are great stories. You are a multi-talented streamer and i enjoy your videos. Keep it up. I’m a subscriber and am learning so much. I’ve had hearing aids for almost two years now (Audicus) and am so thankful to be able to hear my family and birds chirping and all that good stuff. I’m learning as much as i can from your channel so that when it comes time to purchase my next pair, I’ll be an informed shopper.

My ReSound BTE hearing aids are no longer functioning consistentlyand are being retired after 7 good years of service. No complaints. I can no longer afford prescription aids and have been looking (and looking and looking) into an OTC product that would be a decent, not perfect, substitute. These Jabras really checked all the boxes….until the lack of wax filters came up. Based on my hearing aids usage over the years, hearing aids need to have wax filters, period. For $800 it is astounding that they would omit this feature, as it will likely shorten the service life for many, it’s easy to forget to clean them as often as they’ll need to be cleaned given this significant limitation. Oh well, maybe they’ll address this in Gen 2. I’ll keep shopping. BTW thanks for these detailed reviews that objectively discuss the product, regardless of whether they’re prescription or OTC. Wish more reviewers would do so. OTC hearing aids will continue to develop and are here to stay. Arguably not all that dissimilar to buying “readers” to help with vision.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I really appreciate the feedback and glad you found it useful. And I agree, OTC aids are the future and they are definitely here to stay. I'm hoping they will make gen 2 with wax filters and maybe even add the option of non rechargeable

Nice video. I love yours and have subscribed. On the wax guards: the domes have a grate at the bottom that look very much like the wax guards. Certainly its more expensive to replace domes than wax guards, but it looks like the dome grates would help a lot in keeping wax from going into the aid. Thoughts? Have there been any firmware updates to the aids since last August?

    • @HearingClub

those are holes for the sound to travel through. Without the holes, you would get no sound, the wax plugs up those holes and then pushes the wax down, through the holes, into the receiver. No bueno

Unfortunately, not to my knowledge. There may be something out there but I'm personally not aware of any. Sorry I couldn't be more help. I shoot guns AND wear hearing aids. Very nicely done and informative video. Big like! I have been looking for a "stealth" hearing aid earpods and it seems like I found them. I do have one question though. I work in a steel factory with a lot of loud ambient machine noises and I have big trouble talking to people while inside the factory. We do wear earplugs but it seems my high frequency sensitivity is much lower than normal so while I hear machines I have trouble hearing people talking to me. I just got promoted to the foreman position and I fear my poor hearing will severely impact my performance now as I will be required to talk a lot more with workers. My question is first - how do these earbuds perform as sound dampeners (earplugs) in loud enviroment and second - will these earbuds be able to filter loud ambiance noises while still amplify speech? Or do you perhaps propose some alternative "inside ear" earpods? Thank you very very much for your time.

    • @HearingClub

I've worked in an aluminum factory and we had to wear earplugs. These would NOT suffice. I don't know about the steel factory but our aluminum factory had earplugs standards and we had to wear certain earplugs and were tested with them in to verify they were actually plugging our ears and blocking out enough sound. I don't know of any hearing aids that would suffice.

Got the Jabra Enhance Pro ten from Costco for $1649. Still in the 6 most trial period. I have an app on my cell phone and am can control the device. The only thing I do not like is the parts behind the ear but Costco does not have the Enhance Plus you are covering. Went on E-bay and there are several used ones offered for sale. I found the set I wanted in black and made an offer on it. The seller countered at $319.99 shipped free with a 30-day return policy. Received it yesterday and was really surprised by the condition. Looks brand new and 100% complete. I could not tell that it was used. After charging the unit I downloaded the Jabra app to the same cell phone as the app for the Jabra Enhance Pro. The download was easy but I have some difficulties configuring it. My question is: Do I have to remove the installation and app for the Enhance Pro prior to configuring the earbuds?

    • @HearingClub

There are 2 different apps. One is for the enhance pro and the other is for the enhance plus. And no, you shouldn't have to uninstall and reinstall anything, just make sure you are using the correct app.

Is the sound processor of the Plus the same quality as the Costco Jabra Pro? Are there the same amount of speakers, and are the app features the same? How many tuning frequencies? I would go to Costco, but they are an hour away, and their testing is booked for over a month. This may be a bridge for me.

After taking muliple steroid and 6 intratympanic injection but nothing works. Finally doctor conclude that Ive a SNHL in severe stage loss about 70db..advised to wear hearing aid... Since I'm completely new to this, can you please suggest me better brand that I could for it.. So far audiologists are advisees brands such as Signia, Uticorn, unitron and Jabra. .. I would also like to the fact many audiologist were said if I do not wear hearing aid for right ear that will definitely reduce the existing 70db loss to 90db Or sometime you won't be able to hear at all and this will affect your good hearing left ear as well. I'm afraid about it...hope you can address my concern...

i would recommend the Jabra Enhance Pro 10 from costco if you want to be able to adjust and control your hearing aids yourself. If you want the best, most natural sound but dont really care about the app or making adustments, i would suggest the philips 9040. This is assuming you have a costco where you live.

Hi. Just starting the OTC hearing aid search. I really appreciate your information on UA-cam. I’d like to ask a couple of questions, please.
I wear hats and sunglasses or reading glasses most of the time. Where are the microphones located on the over ear units and are they compatible with hats and sunglasses? I can’t let no hearing aids be messin’ with my style.
Can your wear either in or over ear type when lounging on the couch watching TV and laying on your side, head pressed into a pillow? I realize they won’t pick up sound, but will they be uncomfortable?

Are the any good in ear OTC hearing aids that are rechargeable and don’t need frequent changes of batteries? I’m stylish and lazy.
    Thanks,
    Maury

      @HearingClub  6 місяців тому

Hello and thanks for watching us! You’re at great place to start and ask advice. The microphones for the over the ear hearing aids are located at top of hearing aid. Wearing hats, sunglasses, or glasses don’t bother the hearing aids or OTC hearing aids. You can lay on them on your side just it may cause discomfort after laying on it long period of time. Might also cause feedback. Best OTC we tried and reviewed is Jabra Enhance Plus. We more reviews for different OTC brands coming out soon. As of today the Jabra enhance plus is marked down to $499. Check it out on Amazon link we provided in Jabra Enhance plus OTC video.

Would you please review the Sennheiser All-Day Clear or All-Day Clear Slim OTC hearing aides. I have a 3 year old pair of Phonak aides that are sounding long in the tooth and I have a call into Costco, but . . .
I am a 73 year old recording engineer, and I use AI regularly (primarily Waves Clarity Pro and the Sonible line of plugins), so I am intrigued by the Phillips 9040. @@HearingClub Bose Hearphones are OTA hearing aids from 2017. You should check them out if you can find one. I have to buy spares because they work soo well.
Also the definition of "hearing aids" do not exclude extra functionality. That would be like saying medical prosthetics are not for sports.
after 40+ years with hearing aids, and its 2023, having to turn the "hearing aid" off or take it out just to hear music for devices that are thousands of dollars is a reason to change the definition of what is considered a modern "hearing aid".

  • @sailork3506

FWIW, I have moderate hearing loss. I'm OK to 1K hz, then falls off rapidly and 70db down at 8K. I tried this HA. It fit pretty well, though it is not as small as some make it out to be. The android app is OK, not great. All in all, it under amplified the sound pretty dramatically. I did the hearing test and setup, set it on clear to get max treble and volume to 10 (max). It was still not enough correction. I gave up and sent it back. BTW, I also tried the Sony CRE-E10 OTC aid which is a similar ear bud style. The Sony has a direct treble/bass slider. I similarly did the hearing teset. When set on max treble, 6-8 is the proper range for me. At 10, its actually too loud in most situations. The max vol is 15, so there is lots of room left. And the corrections of Sony and Jabra are similar, when tested with an online internet hearing test (certainly a good indication, but far from the quality of a professional test). Both HAs help my high freq dropoff. Neither is a perfect correction.

But I can't, the earbuds are cemented to the earwax filters and can't be removed. I think Jabra knows they are sending out defective hhearing aids and they want to give me a runaround.

5this one does have wax filters and Jabra says I must replace them or hearing aids will not work. Wha t BS they can’t be replaced because the domes can’t be removed.they are giving me the runaround. They say I must wait for their zoom call in a week. I keep my fingers crossed I get my money back. It’s obvious that something happened to them they are probably returns that were subject to very high heat.

Since you have the select then yes you should have wax filters by removing the domes. But if domes are cemented which they shouldn’t be. They should be removable. Let us know how your zoom meeting goes. Hopefully you can get your refund. Perks of Costco, you can go to any Costco with hearing aid center to make appt to have someone take look at them and clean them up for you.

I like your videos. You don’t have an attitude like Dr.cliff. He has a good use but, I’ve gotten sick of his tone. I have an appointment at Costco and fortunately between my union and welfare fund I’m covered up to 2500 bucks so I’ll be good at Costco. I do work at Best Buy and employees have an online class which you can get the Bose/Lexie w at 50% off until 12/31/23. Thanks for all you do.

Just an FYI. The Jabra website will let you purchase a single ear bud, which I did since I only have hearing loss in one ear. Unfortunately you can not pair just one ear bud to your iPhone. The pairing process will fail unless you buy both, so I returned it. Now I am contemplating buying both since I am unsure I will find any OTC hearing aid for only one ear that is as good as the Jabra Enhance Plus.

    • @HearingClub
      @HearingClub  9 місяців тому +1

That’s unfortunate you can’t pair just to one. You can with a single hearing aid at Costco, not so much for OTCs. I think it’s silly because not everyone needs two hearing aids. Some people do have a loss in just one ear.

Interesting. You can pair a single piece HA on iPhone, only if you are on the latest iOS. Have not tried this Jabra.. tempted. Currently using Oticon More 1 from VA prescription. I can pair just one of two HA to my iPhone running both iOS 16 and 17(Developer Beta)

Interesting opinions about the wax guard. It is an OTC, especially backed by GN.
I would think Jabra coming from GN making this OTC, chose it on purpose to skip Wax Guard for a simple reason. Pay more to Get more type of Selling Plan.
From your video, their APP is already giving a lot of options to control the OTC HA. Everything that I actually Need when compared to my OTICON More 1 which do not have.
Wax Guard will definitely be a plus to have. (I have Moist Wax Buildup on daily basis). WUSH on weekly basis, helps + EARGEN.
For $800 on this Jabra OTC looks very tempting.
Only downside, I use Custom Ear Molds. Unless a 3rd party company like ComplyFoam can make one for Jabra OTC, I will pick one up.
Thank you for your Video. It is very descriptive!

Thanks and yes it is interesting that they don’t have wax filters or guards. On same boat of opinion with you there. App is great and it is overall great OTC hearing aids. You use custom molds? How bad is your hearing if you don’t mind me asking?

Just looked at these on Best Buy website and they state that they are not-returnable, which seems like it’s contrary to the 45 day trial offered directly from Jabra.

Guys do not buy these ones. I bought them and they worked only for one year and then all problems started. No charging no pairing. Man, that sucks. Once the warranty runs out, that’s it. That’s the one big drawback to OTC hearing aids, they don’t have that 3 year warranty.

@@HearingClub Do you compare world class company Jabra with that of a roadside cheap OTC manufacturer. How come a Jabra product fail even in one year. It is not even allowing me to do factory reset. The left side is not even charging. Waste of 799USD which I paid, my hard earned money. Guys reject Jabra and better go for very cheap Chinese OTCs which even if they fail in one year we can replace at low cost. Why we must pay USD799 and still buy a faulty product or from a company like Jabra who are insensitive to people already suffering from hearing loss?
