I just recently heard (forgive the pun) that my hearing has gone down so significantly over the last 5 years that I'll probably be looking at hearing aids in the near future. Thank you for doing these reviews, gives me hope that all is not lost.

Hi Cliff. When you reviewed the c10s many months ago you completely overlooked the fine tuning adjustments available via the hearing control app. Did you find them this time, and if so did you try to use any of them to improve the amplification outcomes? In case you haven't found them, there are 5 fine tuning categories:
    Loudness
    Own voice
    Speech
    Sound quality
    Others

Also, adjusting with the volume and tone sliders is temporary. Every time the aids are turned off, those adjustments are lost and your are returned to the settings of the initial hearing test unless you use the fine tuning controls which are remembered and there is also a return function if you don't like the fine turning effects you have applied. I have the C10 version and am really happy with them. I am especially impressed with how good they work with music sources. I am not a fan of rechargeable devices.

Whilst the general volume setting is not saved, there is also the "master" volume setting in the initial set up that IS saved and can be re adjusted at any time.

Thanks for the review. When you click on their link, you are everywhere on the page. Gives the impression of an endorsement, though I know it's not.

We badly need downward price pressure on this super high profit margin industry… OTC’s are a great start.😊

With that first fit of the Sony product showing over amplification of the lows and under amplification of the highs, you should do a video all about “upward spread of masking”, where this kind of result can actually reduce speech clarity rather than help it.

I can’t imagine having a device without Bluetooth capability. Recharge ability is nice and a charger that carries 3 additional charger but the 4 hour time to get a full charge seems excessive. When I was using the AirPod pro as an inexpensive stopgap device, it seemed relatively easy to use and I hoped that the program was correct. The cost seems a little steep for an OTC product. It is possible to get a basic Bluetooth prescription hearing aid that has longer trial period, loss and damage coverage and a 3 year warranty along with professional services from a hearing care specialist or audiologist. I am not a technological expert either. I doubt i could get the device to my prescriptive level based on the volume I play my car stereo is probably at a dangerous volume. The prescriptive devices have more benefits and seems like a betting deal in the long run.

it would be nice to have a live professional. assist with initial adjustments of settings.
This presentation certainly has a lot of information but it was bit fast and confusing. to those of us who are somewhat technically challenged .

So $1300 for a pair seems a bit extreme to me.
My Jabra Enhance Pro hearing aids were only $1600 at Costco and included fitting, a proper warranty, and follow up with a hearing care professional.
What I do not understand is how I can buy any pair of wireless earbuds and all of them will stream via bluetooth from my Android phone, but hearing aid manufacturers cannot seem to be able to do the same.
It's especially baffling when, (in the case of Jabra at least), they already have the ability in house.

OK. So, which is better? Jabra enhance plus or sony CRE-e10? Both customize the amplification profile based on a sound test. Features are similar. Bad about Jabra is iphone only. Bad about Sony is bulky and heavy. Both are rechargeable. Jabra has 4 microphones, Sony 2. I currently use the Sony and find the HA to be pretty nice. The sound profile is better than I expected. I can hear much better on a volume level of 6-8 out of 15. With No feedback even with vented ear dome. Occulusion is bad with solid dome, not too bad with vented dome. What I don't like is how bulky it is. The corrected sound profile is certainly not flat, and the highs above 2K are slightly under-amplified. But its a nice HA. For the Jabra I would have to buy or borrow an iphone just to set the sound profile and set volume, etc. I will not give up android for normal use.

Compatible to program them with Android phones? I don't care about streaming music or answering the phone

I tried these OTC hearing aids, but had to return them for 2 reasons. First, it didn't fit my left hear well even with the smallest cover. Therefore it came off too easily. Second, it picked up too much noise, and when I changed the setting to directional, the sound would drop completely to my "normal" hearing. I called the company, the person I spoke with stated that should not happen and I was advised to remove the program and upload from scratch. It did not change anything, so...I returned them and bought the Jabra Enhance Plus, even though I do mot have an iPhone, but do have an iPad. So far, I'm quite happy with them

Thank you for your indepth review. Although I was considering these along with the Apple Airpad Pro 2, I doulbt now that these Sony CRE E10 earpods will be suitable for me.
I consider myself an audiophile and just need a pair of ear devices to boost my high frequency loss when listening to music from my Martin Logan electrostatic ESL9 loudspeakers. Using a good pair of headphones, I can hear up to 8khz
When I cup my hands behind my ears I hear so far more detail! By the way, I will be 79 years old this year! Can you please suggest some hearing aids that would accurately enhanced my music experience? Thank you.

You really need to get her to a local audiologist. The sooner you do this the better.

Android Bluetooth Streaming--These would be my first choice for an OTC, but without this capability, the Sony CRE-E10 is a non-starter. Makes no sense to me that only IOS capability was built in. My wife and I have Android 14 on our Pixel 7 phones which should be able to be able to use these OTC units, but sadly are left in the dust by Sony!

Comparing to my Costco K10: Costco ia much better. When u could get them price wise there was $200 diff. Costco streaming sound is very good. Bluetooth wise it can be connected to 8 bluetooth device instead of sony 1 device which must be iphone. Waist of money
