The long-awaited video from someone who truly understands the iPad!
Picked mine up yesterday. I’ve been an iPad first user for 3 years and have only used the iPad for 2. This new iPad with the keyboard is it and feels so much better. Holding the iPad by itself is unreal and the new Pencil pros haptic feed back makes you want to use it more. Is it expensive yes, but for someone who uses it for everything personal and work, instead of having 2 separate tools it’s amazing.
i think the iPad Air M2 is the best option for most people

As long as you're not a developer, the iPad (Pro) should be a perfect computer. The touch and the pencil just makes it so much better.
Solid video, the iPad has been my favorite device since the first generation and finally upgraded from the 2018 12.9’ Pro yesterday to the 13’. I went with the 512 GB, after comparing the specs between the TB vs 512 in videos it’s practically identical and not worth the additional price if you won’t use the storage. Magic Keyboard is a game changer
No it’s not. I rather use my MacBook for everything that involves typing
@@jay.san1 The MacBook keyboard is superior when using it in your lap, the 13’ iPad is a bit top heavy and kinda rocks backwards in this position. But for me when the tablet is on a table it’s near identical to my Mac keyboard and I really like it.
Been a fan since your personal channel on using only the iPad. Just got the iPad Pro M4 512GB with the new Magic Keyboard. Feels like I’m typing on a MacBook with the new function buttons and aluminum palm rest. Definitely feels like an upgrade from my M1 iPad Pro especially with the landscape camera for my Zoom meetings, upgraded keyboard, and OLED screen for movies and streaming content. Great video!

Thanks for planning to check to see if the keyboard folio case will work with the 13 inch iPad Air. Can’t wait for that review. I actually prefer the keyboard folio case over the magic case as it is. So much lighter in my old 11 inch iPad Pro. But now got a 13 inch air and would hope that the large folio case will work.
Would love to see more iPad productivity videos. Id love to know more about how you use it as your main device.

I daily drive an M1 iPad Pro too. I’d definitely be curious to know how you enjoy the upgrade since you’re the only person I’ve found who’s coming from the same generation as me. I’m definitely considering the 1TB option (because that’s what I use on my current M1 too). I download and store a lot of movies (get tons of power outages due to storms so download my Apple movie library & various streamers whenever we get storm warnings here).

Just traded in my M1 iPad Pro 12.9 256GB for an M4 iPad Pro 13 512GB. Also picked up the new magic keypad. Can’t wait to try it out!
I also have an M2 MacBook Air, and use both devices interchangeably for my job (sales).

Do you have a case that you recommend?
When I’m using my iPad Pro as a stand in laptop at work, I need to use Teams. The ONE thing that prevents me from using it all the time, is the M2 iPad Pro displays the video in portrait with Teams - and since I use the iPad in landscape I appear on the side to everyone. If you re-do a productivity iPad video can you see if changing the camera orientation to landscape on the new iPads now fixes this issue (especially when plugged into an external monitor? Thanks!
I said when I got my 2018 ipad pro (the M1 was out of stock at the time) that the macbook air is going to be phased out and the Ipad pro will be sweeping in in that space

Same here 13" 1tb both magic devices with 10 % military discount first I-pad hope I like it- and can eventually move away from Macs, my macbook is a 2020 8/8 16gb 1 tb (g).

The 13” iPad Air starts at 1069 USD where I live, do you think it’s still a good value? I’m leaning more and more towards saving up some more money to buy the 13” pro instead, the reason being it’s lighter/thinner, has a higher refresh rate and is compatible with the new magic keyboard:)

I’m considering the 13inch air but am tempted by the pro due to the oled screen but the £400($500) difference is off putting as I wouldn’t be using the “pro” features, my last two iPads have been the pro 11inch gen 1 and the 10.5 inch pro but I never used their “pro” features. I’m in the uk so wouldn’t be getting the power brick, the uk isn’t part of the eu anymore so don’t understand why we’re not getting the power brick.

I think I’d rather buy a refurb or even discounted (but new) iPad Pro 2 rather than the Air. Just knowing it has Face ID 120hz and still the same chip…. I think better value for money.
Unless of course you need 12.9 size. Also if like me and in Europe, having normal sim is useful for travel abroad or if you’re relocating. Rather than e sim.

With all the talk about no stickers in these boxes by everyone who reviews these things, I'm thinking of taking the piles of stickers I have from all my devices over the years, and selling them on ebay. Maybe I can make enough to buy one of these... Honestly, I've never understood the preoccupation with the stickers.

I have a feeling that next gen iPad Air will come with OLED, not tandem OLED. So it can come with a slimmer, lighter. For the new Magic Keyboard can only support a lighter iPad?
The next iPad will support tandem OLED but not 120hz. Just like the iPhones use the same OLED but differ in refresh rates
@@chidorirasenganz well, normal oled can provide same level light or LCD display, and cheaper.
@@user-ms8qg2rz5s Apple tends to choose quality over cheaper. Also they would want to match the standard set by the Pros like they did with the iPhones and even the current spec of the LCDs were originally only available on the Pro models of each line

Love your vids. Have to disagree about iPadOS vs MacOS though... iPadOS is incredibly limited and is essentially an enlarged version of iOS. We need the utility of MacOS in a lightweight package, not a jumbo sized iPhone masquerading as a computer
Functionally, it’s still a computer, Any smartphone/tablet is a computer regardless of the type of OS it uses.

I agree. I got the new iPad Pro because an iPad is required for my college and I care a lot about image quality and games, but I really hope Apple increases the functionality of this powerful tablet.
@@louss even if Apple could port most of MacOS on the iPad Pro, it might even make more sense for developers to create/modify their apps for iPadOS. They can do it. Final Cut Pro, Procreate, most any of the productivity apps from Microsoft were designed for iPadOS and are very close to their desktop versions. But for a variety of reasons, many developers just don’t want to spend the time and resources to make a full version of their apps for the iPad.
So the question is this: do we want a version of MacOS for the iPad to run most Mac apps or should developers create maybe a 90% version of their Mac apps for iPadOS. Right now, it’s in the interest of developers to port full versions (or as close as possible) of their desktop apps to iPadOS. Just my thoughts.
I know one day we’ll all look back to this day and laugh. Because that’ll be the day where the iPad will finally be more MacOS. It’s going to happen, slowly but surely

1. Excel for iPad doesn’t support Pivot Tables nor Text to Columns
2. PowerPoint and Photoshop for iPad don’t support aligning and distributing items with one click
3. You can’t export video in the background
4. Third party mice scrolling is terribly laggy
5. You can’t develop apps or websites on it
These things make it unusable for probably over 60% of professionals. It’s a great device, but you do have to try to put things into other people’s perspectives. It might work for your work, but it doesn’t for most people’s.
Other options exist other than Photoshop and Microsoft Office. You can develop and design apps/websites on an iPad so yeah for most people it’s possible to work from an iPad.
Also exporting in the background is unnecessary unless you’re exporting multi hour long videos, most will finish in minutes if not seconds
