I’m upgrading from my old 5th Gen iPad (2017). Any suggestions whether I pick the Air or Pro? I’m just the average user and don’t expect to upgrade that often.
Good production quality. Could u do a comparison b/w m2 air with m2 pro? At least on a short. Im currently on base ipad 8 looking to upgrade to one of those.
For years I had a third Generation 12.9 Pro. I considered myself a casual user mainly because my primary purpose that I use my iPad is for UA-cam Videos, Banking, and checking my email. I decided when purchasing a new iPad to save 500 dollars and purchased the new Air iPad. However, UA-cam is my primary daily entertainment and I’m on it allot. The new Air IPad sound quality wasn’t as good as my third generation Pro iPad. And the actual viewing area on the Air is smaller. So I return the new IPad Air and upgraded to the M4 13 inch Pro. Yes, I paid an extra 500 dollars but considering how long i go without upgrading my iPad I believe it is worth it. The audio on the M4 Pro is great. I am also looking forward what IOS 18 enhancement that the M4 will fully support. This year I’ve been using Chat GPT a whole lot that IOS 18 will link to Siri.
Nice video. I got the iPad Pro m2 12.9 about 3 months ago. I’m not sure if I really notice any blooming. But, I do notice when watching movies sometimes there are at moments, very bright eye flinching brightness. This happens periodically throughout movies, whether real, or animation, Disney, etc. is this the blooming effect ? And if so, does the m4 13’ eliminate it?
@Kyle Erickson loved your video…had to subscribe after the iPad comparisons. I had the new iPad Air M2 for about 4 weeks and had a lot of issues with it. The battery depleted quickly, the pencil would not charge, and even the screen would not respond to touch. I was so surprised with all of these problems. Have you heard of any one else having the issues, or do you think that might be a one-off. I was leery of getting a replacement.
One other thing I'd add that I've seen when watching another review which has tilted me more towards the Pro is the speaker configuration and sound quality. The Pro runs 4 speakers whilst the Air runs only 2. From what I heard it makes a fair bit of difference when on calls, listening to music or watching videos.
Yes, you get a fuller sound. Same goes for the microphones. If you are listening to this on a phone, it can be hard to tell. One person told me the Air sounded better. Only because the Air completely muted the background music making the vocals stand out. 🙄
I need some advice so I currently have the 11inch iPad Pro m1 I’m looking to get a bigger device should I get the m2 iPad Pro or the m2 iPad Air, I’m just mainly taking notes I can’t device whether the Apple Pencil pro is better for taking notes or the pro motion
I am med student and i take a lot of notes also don't know which one to choose i liked ipad air 13inches but people in comments say it's huge and pro is better
I loved the 11inch in store but needed 13 inch for music sheet replacement. I thought I was going to hate it but it’s actually not that bad.. it might be better with 13” now even just with browsing or YouTubing. 11” doesn’t give much room for dual screen and sometimes you just need a lighter model with 1 screen, pad-like not a MacBook…. So they serve their own purposes. I still like doing editing on my Mac but if I can transition to iPad only then that’s something to think about in the future.
I currently have iPad Pro 10.5” 2018 and planning on upgrade soon. Which one to buy, iPad Air M2 13” or iPad Pro M4 11”? Considering the price is similar and I still need to buy apple pencil as well. I am using it for media & note taking. For heavy use, I still have MBP M1 16 inch
@Kyle Erickson does it make sense to get the 256 vs 512 and use a thunderbolt drive for extra storage or would the 512 be better? I was thinking with thunderbolt I could get a 2 TB thunderbolt SSD and not sacrifice too much?
@@angieamarillo the most annoying is, that they all pretend like taking notes have to be some sort of experience. It’s literally just notes. If you want the paper feel, just get fucking paper

What iPad would you recommend for a college student who does not have an iPad and is strictly going to use for taking notes and watching videos and maybe some games
Get the 11" M2 iPad Air if you have budget constraints and get a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard if you don't have a computer or laptop to type on at home. The beauty of the Air is, it weighs a pound & you don't have to take the keyboard to class to make notes. You will really appreciate the low weight when seeing your classmates lugging 3-5 pound laptops everywhere. Use swipe typing at school & with a little practice; it's very fast ! Of course should you not be limited by budget restrictions then go for the 11" M4 Pro 😃
Hey i have logitech combo touch 12.9 ipad pro 5th 6th gen case. Now i was planning to buy ipad pro 12.9 6th gen but ipad air 13 inch is cheaper, my question is will my logitech ipad pro case fit and work well with ipad air m2 13 inch?
I want to know more about the USB-C port differences. Will the M2 iPad Air work with regular, passive USB-C to HDMI cables? And passive USB-C to DisplayPort? Is it just displays that have only USB-C inputs that the Air would not work with? And is connecting to an external USB-C SSD fine with the Air - it's just limited to 10 versus 40mbits/sec? Ditto for USB-C port replicators? If so, the Air seems quite sufficient for me. I want to use the iPad to show photos/flashcards and videos to small audiences in a fairly dark room, but I need it to be able to connect to a bigger HDMI display to stream videos and to copy mp4 and mkv files to internal storage and play via a USB-C-to-HDMI cable (using VLC as the file browser/player for mkv files). (BTW, the "Pro" model really should have 2 or even 4 USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, IMO. Fully charging and shuffling devices (or carrying a port replicator) always has been a PITA with my old iPad Pro 11 (2018).
I have iPad Pro 11 ( 2018 ) is it worth to upgrade to iPad Air m2 ? I do use davinci resolve, photoshop , Lightroom, pro create. Does air work fine with those apps ? Also is there any screen quality between pro 2018 and air m2 ? Thank you
my wife has the M2 ipad air while I still have my 2018 ipad pro, to be honest, I don’t see a significant performance boost for my use case (mainly media consumption and email/office/teams), what does hurt is losing face id and pro motion, I would only upgrade to the M4 pro if I had the money to burn, or maybe when the air gets pro motion
Great comparison video. I have the 12.9 pro from 2018 and I can’t justify buying a new iPad, it’s still such an overpowered machine compared to the OS. The new pro looks incredible tho.
That is why these so-called "overpowered" Pro iPads are so good. You can still get a fantastic experience from a 2018 version, and if you check out 2018 Android tablets, then I doubt they would hold up as well. So, I praise Apple for the overkill M4 chip, as anyone lucky enough to afford one of these will know that they have a long-term investment that will even feel contemporary in 2030. If money is no object, then the new iPad Pro is easily the best tablet in most metrics as long as you understand it is and will always be a tabletOS. If that is not your cup of tea, then it is probably best to buy a desktop-OS laptop, as tablets are not for you as your only device.
Yes, I tried to hold out but started watching too many iPad Pro m4 videos and fell off the wagon. I had the m1 pro 2022 so now I have the m4 pro finally a I pad I can watch without having to wear glasses to use .
I have the 3rd Gen iPad Pro and it’s still rocking. Plus I have 512 gigs! Having so many photos, documents, movies, and etc. I still have over 250 gigs available. I for now, see no reason to upgrade but as someone mentioned before, the new version looks good. I do have to admit that I love the idea that the camera was finally moved, which is great for my FaceTime and Zoom meetings.
I' m really curious about this M4. I already own a decent Android tablet Samsung S8 plus with an OLED screen. Can anyone compare these two displays? Will I notice a sensible difference between the two panels? Thanks in advance
Great first video. I wonder if there will be any apps for the iPad Pro. Also what about document processing, possibly using Microsoft word and or excel and publisher. Or apps capable of competing with Microsoft word, excel and publisher.
You pretty much answered the question I’ve been debating for the last week or so, but just in case: would an iPad Pro with 256gb suffice for video/photo editing if I have somewhere to offload it once I’m done? Depending on the situation it will either be content taken on my iPhone, my Sony camera, or my drone. I’m migrating from editing on my old MacBook Pro that recently called it quits, so I’m lookin for a nice Apple mobile device since I’m so deep in the ecosystem already. I love the form factor and portability of the 11 inch so I’m definitely going with one. Due to pricing here in Canada, I was initially trying to decide between the most basic specs on the Pro or the Air with slightly more storage, but I really think the Pro will make editing more smoother and I like the display since it will also serve as a screen for streaming shows when we are away from our computer desks.

Where do you get the awesome wallpaper @ 14:10???
Great comparison and very timey - thank you! BTW around 8:21 you b-rolled a video editor - may I ask which app it was?
Helpful and informative video. Thank you.
Where do u get those wallpapers man?
Good production quality. Could u do a comparison b/w m2 air with m2 pro? At least on a short. Im currently on base ipad 8 looking to upgrade to one of those.
Just subbed bro!! Excellent content and presentation on these differences in IPads we all can understand
In my country ipad pro m2 is more expensive than air m2(2024), which one you reccomend? Im student
Imo for students the air is sufficient
Outstanding Review and Presentation Kyle! Well Done⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What stand are you using? Looks awesome!
Can you also compare the M2 Pro and M2 Air?
I'll try to get into that a little more in the Air review!
I don’t NEED a pro…but I bought one anyway! The screen by itself was enough for me to justify it!
Im dying to find out where you get these wallpapers
I make them for these videos
@@KyleEricksonthey look amazing, good job. Are they done by hand or a certain AI?
And if so, does the m4 13’ eliminate it?
how long will the apple pencil (USB-C) last at full charge?
Normal Ipad and Air is fine for 95% of normal people who consume media. The Pro's are for people who want the best and create media. Pretty simple.
This is the same I tell people. :)
I need the best
The best review so far!!
Many complaints about heating issues in AIR ..... is it true ???
I loved the 11inch in store but needed 13 inch for music sheet replacement. I thought I was going to hate it but it’s actually not that bad.. it might be better with 13” now even just with browsing or YouTubing. 11” doesn’t give much room for dual screen and sometimes you just need a lighter model with 1 screen, pad-like not a MacBook…. So they serve their own purposes. I still like doing editing on my Mac but if I can transition to iPad only then that’s something to think about in the future.
Very helpful. I liked that he said best if the best even though you don’t have an in-depth use for it yet . Just ordered 1
I'm gonna touch on thunderbolt storage in my review a little bit more. Have had some issues
Wallpaper link?
Gooooosh if I hear the "Paperlike" one more time in these ipad videos.
I agree I'm so over it and immediately fast forward...
@@angieamarillo the most annoying is, that they all pretend like taking notes have to be some sort of experience. It’s literally just notes. If you want the paper feel, just get fucking paper
This was really helpful as I need to start editing shorts for social... wasnt sure what to get and spending crazy money on the pro seems painful! Do you think all the ai features will work on the new air?
Have you used the Air with the Final Cut Camera at all to do Multicam shooting.
nah I'm not a fan of Final Cut Camera tbh... any recording in iOS/iPadOS I do with Blackmagic Camera App
OK Thx.
What's the link for the ipad stand we see on 5:07 ?
don't have time to look right now, but I think you might be referring to the Benks Infinity Stand I believe it's called... something like that
What iPad would you recommend for a college student who does not have an iPad and is strictly going to use for taking notes and watching videos and maybe some games
M2
Get the 11" M2 iPad Air if you have budget constraints and get a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard if you don't have a computer or laptop to type on at home. The beauty of the Air is, it weighs a pound & you don't have to take the keyboard to class to make notes. You will really appreciate the low weight when seeing your classmates lugging 3-5 pound laptops everywhere. Use swipe typing at school & with a little practice; it's very fast !
Of course should you not be limited by budget restrictions then go for the 11" M4 Pro 😃
Great vid, an idea of mine is if you can maybe do a video showing how you normally have your iPads set up and settings to change and turn on/off.
I am a graphic designer and I'm confused about these two. Which one should I buy ?
The pro
The Pro has almost no pencil lag.
I have the M1 11 inch iPad pro. But I want a bigger screen, would it be a great option to trade in?
Get the m2 and save money
Hey i have logitech combo touch 12.9 ipad pro 5th 6th gen case. Now i was planning to buy ipad pro 12.9 6th gen but ipad air 13 inch is cheaper, my question is will my logitech ipad pro case fit and work well with ipad air m2 13 inch?
Awesome review!
Thanks!
Where can i get those wallpapers from? Looks cool
which is the best for not taking with the pencil? and is it a good as something like the reMarkable 2.0?
Great Wallpaper. Was wondering where could i get them from?
Great review. Many thanks.
Probably not but for what Apple will give you to trade it in I’m getting $410 for my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9” worth upgrading now
@@rthilsonthat's about what they are going for. I sell 3rd party a LOT. Those 5th Gen 12.9 sell roughly around $500 so that's not bad at all.
What is the stand used with the iPads in this video? Do not see it in your links. Thanks!
How much difference does it make to use it as separate display to Macbook? I assume with 120 HZ there should be some noticeable difference.
I’m curious how the next iPad OS and ai may cause a greater separation between the Air and the Pro. I’m waiting until 6/10.
Love your colour grade Kyle. It's so cohesive and so identifiably YOU. Great video as always
thank you!
I like your table, it looks really nice! What kind of wood is that?
Where can I find that wallpaper?
Thanks, enjoyed your video review.
Great first video. I wonder if there will be any apps for the iPad Pro. Also what about document processing, possibly using Microsoft word and or excel and publisher. Or apps capable of competing with Microsoft word, excel and publisher.
Backgrounds somewhere available?
Does the pro m4 work on the regular Magic Keyboard? I have that and am wondering if I got the pro I could still use old Magic Keyboard.
I have a m2 iPad Pro. Didn’t know they already have m4. Is there big improvement?
Is m2 air 13 inch heating while taking notes?
I mean the OLED display makes it worth it by itself. The Air doesn't even get miniLED.
bro, i noticed in this video 6 minutes onwards that there is noticeable flex in screen. can u please tell is it is real flexing or some software twerk that visually feels like screen is flexing?
does this ipad take 40W charger like other ipad pros? people confirmed that it does, some did touch bases on that part
The wallpapers were awesome!
They just look fantastic!
Is it possible to download these?
I’ll be getting a iPad Air 11 in for school otw 128 Gb any recommendations for accessories
If i already have s9 ultra, do you recommend me go for the pro 13? The oled panel is better? Thanks
Great review. Glad I found you. Like & subs buttons smashed. Keep up the good work!
Hi! What video editing software did you use in this video?
