This was originally sung by Otis Rush and written by Willie Dixon. Led Zeppelin was one of several UK bands who turned on millions of Americans to the blues that originated here, ironically. They elevated the great blues musicians in the US which was long overdue.
The soul if a song isn't just in the vocals. It's in every note that's played. That's why we don't have music like this anymore. Today's wannabes have never been schooled in real music. So happy these were my high school years. Great memories that will never be equaled!
Right?! People always focus on Plant (or any singer really) when it’s the three guys behind him pouring everything they’ve got into each song. They are the reason this track is so emotionally satisfying.
Yep ... add Eddie VanHalen, and RUSH and you have close to holy trio! oh! I forgot Hendrix too! He was cut way too short for his time ... talent poured from that man too!
Same here, although I was born in '60. Jimmy Page is one of the all time great guitarists. A studio musician he has done everything from rock to hard rock to country to of course blues, to TV commercial jingles and movie sound tracks. But i'm pretty sure The Zeppelin was the highlight of his life.
The difference in other bands and Zep is that they have no gaps in their talent. Each of the four was phenomenal. And Jimmy Page was not only crazy out there on guitar - he brought a creative vision and built the band to bring it to fruition. Each member “ got it “ and they lifted every guitarist, drummer, bass and singer to a whole different plane. No group coming after Zep can escape their stamp on rock and roll.
@@andremariano6263 Agreed. At least with the studio version that middle part seems less disconnected. I also say that because other reactors have been doing a real early live version of Dazed from when it was fully flushed out yet.
If you want to see how they feel about their legacy watch the Kennedy Honors of led zeppelin, from the Band Heart doing Stairway to Heaven in front of Led Zeppelin. It brought Robert Plant lead singer to tears. Possibly the best cover of a song ever!!!!
They are so revered I don't think they will ever be just Ordinary Joe Blows. Their fame is legendary and will carry on. We are still loving this 50+ years later
John Paul Jones, on keyboards, is playing bass with foot pedals. If you like blues, you might want to check out “In My Time of Dying” in 1975 at Earl’s Court. Jimmy plays the slide guitar in ways I haven’t heard by anyone else. It’s my understanding JPJ had a bass that was fretless to keep up with Jimmy. One of there best, “Kashmir “ live at Knebworth 1979 is really great too. Robert Plants vocals, and Bonzo’s drum fills are excellent.
This song is from the 3rd album which is mostly acoustic based album Zeppelin III. What is so amazing about the album version is that they were on the road here in the states when they were recording the 3rd album. Jimmy Page's solo in this song was in one take. Just to give an example of how massive and beloved this band is. In 2007 it was announced that Led Zeppelin was going to perform at the 02 arena in England for a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. They have not performed all together in 27 years, with in a hour there was over 20 million ticket request from all over the world. That broke world records in request and selling of tickets, they had to do a lottery for the lucky 20 thousand that got to experience rock history that night.
Welcome to the led Zeppelin rabbit hole friend it's a long long long journey so glad you got on board there's many of us that support you going down this road and checking them out and some other artists as well I'm happy you chose this it's one of my favorites
11:30 they heal me. I have cried at 3am while listening to them. I’m in my mid twenties and barely just getting learning about them more. Since high school I knew of led zep but only like Immigrant song, heartbreaker, and stairway. This year I was on Spotify and clicked on their page and started listening to their albums like one should. OH MY GOD ! I fell I love with Achilles Last Stand, Out on the Tiles etc. Each day I like a song. It’s used to be three led zep songs then to five and now 44+. I love Plants voice, what a heartthrob ♥️. Pages fluidity-making the guitar sing. Bonhams timing and skills and Jonesys poetic sound. I’m loving them more and more each day. I’m just lucky to listen to them. I wish I was there especially this concert.
@jordimoore2167 you got that right. When I listen to the younger generation doing the reviews, I think how lucky we were, that we grew up with it and how I didn't know it at the time. It was just the way it was, to me. Zep was my first concert in 1978... I was 14 yrs. old. Fun times. I love recommending old songs for the young people. To find out about music that they will want to know and love, too.
I love this comment. My dad was a professional musician (pianist) who died at 75, but played piano the night before. He was jamming in beach bands with jazz musicians all older than dirt up until the end. All those years of musicianship - they were AMAZING
@@annmonaghan4360 I got to wait on him in the 90's when I was working at a bookstore in Hollywood. Girl, he was STILL incredibly fine! Dressed all in black, with that golden mane. Legs up to his NECK. I nearly freaked out but managed to control myself, and I could see he saw it by the twinkle in his eye as he thanked me. :D
Love your comments and insight.... they are THE BEST ROCK BAND EVER !!! All 4 Musicians are regarded as top of their instruments .... play drum John Bonham Moby Dick 1972 Royal Albert Hall Solo...16 minutes of fire !!!!
I've been listening to all kinds of rock since the 60s. Thousands of great bands but I believe that LZ is the best of all. Like you said, so many styles and so many great songs. All are great!
The truth is that you cannot go back. You have to reconcile yourself to the fact that at some precious past moment you were blessed. We who experienced this at its point of creation, remain ever grateful. Old age is the price we pay for being there. Fair exchange is no robbery.
In your two Zeppelin reactions, you have yet to pick up on the incredible drumming of John Bonham - one of the all-time best rock drummers if not the absolute best. You heard Stairway to Heaven. You should do the tribute to Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors by Heart, playing Stairway with the late John Bonham' son, Jason, on drums. And yes, Zeppelin doing When the Levee Breaks, a blues song from the past about a great flood.
When The Levee Breaks was written buy a late 1920’s through 1930’s African American blues artist named Memphis Minnie. It was written about a devastating Mississippi river flood that killed people in the late 1920’s. It’s a fabulous cover by Led Zeppelin and one of my absolute favorites.
Do Queen Bohemian Rhapsody at Live Aid. Queen stole the show and Freddie Mercury is amazing. You should see how he can control the whole crowd. You won't be disappointed promise it.
Definitely Kashmir Celebration Day; you will see they still got it after nearly 40 yrs from 1st album. Must watch live version for best effect. Also experience an acoustic version of them with Going to California at Earl’s Courts. Robert’s vocals are purely beautiful. Great reactions -Thank you and hope you continue with more Zeppelin.
The great thing about growing up with these guys was that you never knew what they would do next. But you knew it would be great! Never released singles here in UK, just relied on fans buying the albums. And we bloody well did, and we were never disappointed!! Enjoy friend!
Dude, you keep doing these old school reactions, your channel is going to blow up. There is just nothing better than watching raw talent. Pure voices and pure talent on instruments. No digital cleanup was available. No lip syncing. None of that. There is a world of talent that you are unaware of. And you will find it if you go down this road. And you will be pleasantly surprised at the "bars" you will find in this music. I enjoyed your fresh reaction.
Thanks fam we are going down this road I love the you can hear a real precaution a snare, chords both vocal and guitar. This is where it’s at I wish it was still here but since it’s not I’m going to celebrate like it is . Thanks again fam I hope I can count on you to be in the comments and giving your wisdom and input. Thanks for your post
ANOTHER GREAT ONE BY THE BEST BAND EVER IN HEAVY ROCK!...(YET THEY CAN BE GENTLE AND CLASSICAL WITH THE MASTERY OF PAGE)....THANKS AGAIN FOR THE REVIEW AS I AGREE %100!!!!!!...GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER!
If a man is doing what gives him joy, like Led Zeppelin, then you look back and appreciate all the hard work, success, failures, tragedies, the incredible gifts to their audience. To be able to actually be in the presence of musical gods, is miraculous, truly.
This is a combo of some incredible people. You are listening to, probably, one of the greatest rock singers/front men of all time....one of the greatest rock drummers of all time....one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time...and one of the greatest rock keyboard/bass player/arrangers of all time!!! This band is a once in a lifetime thing.
What you were talking about around the 12-minute mark was a great observation and a truly deserving topic. I believe it is one of Mans'(& womans'. I am old and still use Man as Mankind which is all people) great challenges. Even if you led(no pun intended) an average life, most people see their youth as their "I Was Great" days. So for F-K-N "Rock Gods" like these 4, it must be tough growing old and having film, records and movies reminding you of the "Good old Days". In these 4 guys case, the God-like old days! Better have a great sense of humor when it comes to getting old.
I'm fortunate to have grown up in the 70's with some of the greatest rock music. Led Zeppelin was one of the greatest along with Queen, Boston, Kansas, Eagles, Tom Petty, Steve Miller Band, Elton John, David Bowie, Deep Purple. Could go on and on. Welcome to my world. ... 😎
Dazed and Confused or When the Levee Breaks..........both brilliant songs but LZ didn't make any bad ones. Great reaction.......just subscribed. Keep 'em coming
The only way that one can say any of Zep's songs were bad is in comparison to the rest of their stuff. Compared to anyone else, all their music is brilliant. :)

This is the greatest band ever man. Glad you’re discovering them.
Robert Plant still sings now and brings out music
Jimmy Page is also still at it. :)
@@Serai3 he sure is. 😊
@@Serai3 wow, I'm so jealous.
@@annmonaghan4360 LOL, don't be. I was so embarrassed afterwards.
Love your comments and insight.... they are THE BEST ROCK BAND EVER !!!
All 4 Musicians are regarded as top of their instruments .... play drum John Bonham Moby Dick 1972 Royal Albert Hall Solo...16 minutes of fire !!!!
Stevie Ray Vaughn: Texas Flood live.
Steve Vai: Tender Surrender live.
Guitar greats
the SRV - Texas Flood live should definitely be from El Mocambo.
Little sister with 2 broken strings and guitar swap without missing a beat , Timeless
I was going to mention the exact same.
I know I'm two years to late...but listen to "The Song Remains the Same" from the same 1973 concert...it's fantastic...!
Led Zeppelin aka "The Hammer of the Gods. "
I cannot fathom anyone giving this a thumbs down 👎. Insanity to me! Just the best Rock band EVER!!
This song live gets everyone to go WHAT, within 5 seconds.
I've been listening to all kinds of rock since the 60s. Thousands of great bands but I believe that LZ is the best of all. Like you said, so many styles and so many great songs. All are great!
Stevie Ray VAUNGH = SRV ,Band = Double Trouble, Song = Texas Flood, Crime Sene = Live at El Mocambo
4 young fellas on stage ...no tricks. What a sound and energy. I don't think we'll see the anything like this again.
Dazed and Confused is fantastic!
He's a drummer himself too!...Moby dick is going to blow his mind
He will notice Bonzo more on Dazed and Confused and When the Levee Breaks.
@@Manageode
Than Moby Dick? A drum solo?
@@mikecalderon5251 than the solo on Coda? I
@@Manageode
Not arguing that Bonzo's Montreux isn't a masterpiece, but he prefers live.
Absolutely
She ain't lying bro...
Or look up when the whole crowd sang the whole song of bohemian rhapsody at a Green Day concert
@@Jvilleman400 Epic crowd control!
No. He must react to the full set !.Is a must do
Yes, we do look back and are totally thankful and grateful we witnessed it and it became a part of our souls.
My mans, react to Kashmir ...live ...Celebration Day and see how they are now...lol you will be surprised!
Yes cashmere celebration day is a must see
Definitely Kashmir Celebration Day; you will see they still got it after nearly 40 yrs from 1st album.
The song remains the same/ the Rain song from the same concert MSG 1973
Yes!!!
@@juliemanarin4127 yes
I saw then in the 70"s and it was a GREAT concert. I was so stoned it was super
The song remains the same into rain song live pleeeeeee!! Like thisssss y’all
Yes!!
Absolutely
The best band!!!
Best band then and now..saw them twice..❤Robert Plant pure sex appeal❤
You must listen to their song. Whole lot of love.
Live MSG!
Looking back makes me realise how old I am but I still listen, mesmerised!
That's the Delta Blues done Zeppelin style.
Do not forget this was the late 60s early 70s.
Your facial expressions all show you genuinely appreciate what your learning.....take it all in, these are rock gods
You’ve only scratched the surface of Led Zeppelin. This will be a long road of discovery, I’m so glad your man lead you to the path.
When the Levee breaks set the bar so high for Rock and Roll that everyone wanted a piece of it.
I call that song the Uber-Blues, because it hits a peak of blues brilliance.
Best rock song ever…
Used to think 1959 les paul sunburst's were overpriced. But this one is worth every penny in jimmy Pages magic hands
Zeppelin doesn't do corny songs!! At all! Yes so many styles!! This is from the 3rd album.
"Thank You" could be called corny by some. Not by me, but by some.
@@Serai3 not by me either...an amazing song!
HOT D0G from their last album i gets a bad rap by some people
ANOTHER GREAT ONE BY THE BEST BAND EVER IN HEAVY ROCK!...(YET THEY CAN BE GENTLE AND CLASSICAL WITH THE MASTERY OF PAGE)....THANKS AGAIN FOR THE REVIEW AS I AGREE %100!!!!!!...GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER!
Oh he does way more then just smoke
😂😂😂
If you are enjoying their sound, I highly recommend watching The Song Remains the Same. It's an entire concert and absolutely flawless Great reaction
I vote for "When The Levy Breaks".
Required listening for any new Zepper.
Bro, you get it now. You were feeling that song. Led Zeppelin hands down greatest band ever. Never will there be another band like them.
The musicianship of Led Zeppelin is second to none.
You got that right. Artist pros supergroup. Blues rock metal and country. Robert Plant wow what pipes Jimmy Page rips it
If a man is doing what gives him joy, like Led Zeppelin, then you look back and appreciate all the hard work, success, failures, tragedies, the incredible gifts to their audience. To be able to actually be in the presence of musical gods, is miraculous, truly.
The look on your face during the guitar solo, man. :)
That's what it's about.
It’s a shame they don’t make music like this anymore 😢
Do Dazed and Confused 1973 MSG, one of their best live performances and jimmy page is at the absolute top of his game in it.
Yes from the same concert, just do any of the songs, they're all great!
Yes please. Greatest of the great. 🦩
Yes, love your reaction. You have a lot of music to catch up on. But do jump down the Rabbit Hole as it is a wonderful journey.
With Zeppelin the best is yet to come. Then there is Hendrix, the who,Rush, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath and so much more.
Zeppelin is a Bluesy rock band plain and simple. Only thing you need to get is THAT and they were the BEST at that. 🤛👍
Check out Kashmir from Celebration Day concert in 2006, when they were all in their 60's; they never became ordinary
It's a shame Bonham wasn't there (maybe in spirit).
LEGENDARY 3 Nights. The Song Remains The Same Captures it Beautifully.
You can watch the DVD!
Another EPIC reaction man.
Welcome to my world. ... 😎
If you want to get into where everyone was at in the 70’s , take a few bong hits, crank the volume and enjoy !
The Best in the Past and Present!! I am 61 and been listening to LED since 11. I have heard many others and attended numerous concerts here and in Europe and none come close! LED is one unit not like others that have one hat stands out.
"When the levee breaks!" Led Zeppelin
