Some of Led Zeppelin's sings were recorded in one take in the studio. They were masters of their craft. "OH pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream..."
This song is considered one of their "epics" along with Stairway to Heaven and Achilles Last Stand. None of them had been to Kashmir; instead the lyrics were inspired by a trip Robert had taken through the desolate, desert landscape of Morocco. Zep rarely used other musicians on their songs but bassist John Paul Jones arranged the strings section for this song. When played live, Jonesy would play the strings part on a Mellotron (a type of early synthesizer) while playing bass using the foot pedals. Keep in mind, if you play an album cut of theirs, they are playing all the instruments; there's no samples, autotune, click track, etc. So for example, if you hear 5 different guitar parts or a combination of electric and acoustic guitar, you better believe Jimmy Page played all the parts and overdubbed them accordingly (he produced all their albums). Here's a link to a live version of this song from a concert in Knebworth in the UK filmed in 1979. This is near the end of their career as they disbanded in 1980. @@Awall79 I like Floyd more but at the same time I can say that Led is one of a kind. Good thing we don't have to choose and can instead enjoy them all. There's probably more occasions I'd put up Led Zeppelin than Pink Floyd, mostly because Pink Floyd is best enjoyed in album form and is something I sit down for with my headphones. I do that too with Led, but I can also jam to it during exercise, when taking a stroll, when I work etc.
Yes grandparents also!!!! My son is 27 and is totally into Vikings so i put him onto The Immigrant Song. My advice would be to just use the audio and not the video.
All music can give us memorys but zeppelin seem to take you on a journey , i dont know if anyone else feels that. I was fortunate to see them at Knebworth in 79 and will never forget that experience. My friend you have put your head in a rabbit hole prepair yourself for a journey like never before.
I got to see this band 6 times. They loved playing in Seattle. They played a two hour show. Took a 20 minute break came back played 2 more hours. Yes I love zeppelin. You would love so much of plants music.
There are many amazing drummer's , some I admire greatly. But there's only one John Bonham. The amount of groove , drive and dynamics he could produce, in my opinion, is unequalled. Loving the Zep content man. It's interesting hearing your take on them, coming from a different genre of music.
Man I wish I could listen to Zeppelin for the first time again with fresh ears! I think you'd really enjoy the band The Doors. they're my favourite for sure. The song L.A Woman is a good place to start, a very bluesy, uptempo, almost romantic song about the love/hate relationship the singer has with LA. If you're looking for bands which incorporate that change in tempo and feeling throughout the song similar to Led Zeppelin, The Doors will deliver! The Doors - L.A. Woman
@15 years of age, jimmy page was the most sought after sessions guitarist, jimmy played on a whole bunch of late 50s and 60s albums for many different bands,as did John Paul Jones, that is where they both met..Robert plant and John Bonham were best friends and played together way before zeppelin formed..
The best band there ever was and ever will be. This song was channeled from another time/place/dimension and these men were blessed by an ancient, magical power. I saw Led Zeppelin perform live twice, on their last North American tour before Bonham died. I graduated high school in 1976, so it’s one big consolation for being a boomer. Growing up, my holy trinity was Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones, but there are so many other incredible groups from the era that I do wonder at that. How and why was it the most prolific time for so many innovative, supremely talented bands (in all genres, not just rock) creating such incredible music? Seriously-was it aliens, sorcery, drugs? Did they forfeit their souls? Was it a combination of these, or something else? I’m only half joking because it really is mind boggling. It’s something to marvel at and feel very fortunate to have been around for.
I have often wondered the very things that you are saying!! It was incredible to live through that time and I don't think any of us realized it until later. Or I should say appreciated it as much as we should have. 😎
You have just started. You are going to find out how rich the music scene was back in the 70s into the 80s. Many great bands. Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and the list goes on. But Zep is a good place to start. They are my personal favorite of all time. But as you have said everyone's tastes are different. But keep rolling down this road and your channel will grow.
There is a reason why I started with them. If you watch stair way to heaven reaction witch I have a library with Led Zeppelin’s reactions so you can find them easier it explained how this came about
@@ROMsquad Continue what you do, your reaction is like a fresh air. Salutations from Québec city, Canada. Sorry if i do some mistakes in english cause here we speak french. Take care...
This song was born out of Jimmy Page. This was a practice riff that he did over and over again. He was playing this in rehearsal and the whole band stood up and realized it was something worth while. Plant took the riff and put the lyrics to the song. The beat was all Bonzo. What really pulls it all together is John Paul Jones on the organ. The same thing happened with Joe Walsh with the band the Eagles. His practice riff was the guitar lead in to the song Hotel California. Glen Frey lost it and when he played it again Don Henley and Glen Frey wrote one of the greatest rock songs of all time. A good amount of credit must go to the second guitarist on the song Don Felder. he pushed Joe Walsh to expand it to a great guitar solo. You never know where the inspiration of song will come from.
2024. You showed up in my feed and I glad. Watching you react to what I new as a teenager is almost emotional. Led Zeppelin are the rock gods. Each member was a master. Watching you react to what we took for granted, hits me. Their talent is Hypnotic.
There are three bands I think of when the subject of versatility and diversity of sound come up - the Beatles, Led Zepeelin, and Queen. All three bands range all over the map, using lots of different styles. The Beatles went from teeny-bopper pop to vaudeville to ballads to hard rock to whimsy to screaming experimentalism. Queen went from progressive rock to English music hall to proto-metal to folk to romance songs. The 60's-70's were a wildly creative time in music, all kinds of threads getting woven together in all kinds of combinations. You have embarked on a journey, my man, that will engage for a quite a long time. :)
I can tell you are a true lover of the craft! Welcome to a whole new world of music! I’ll bet it’s really neat for you to discover where some sampling truly came from! Freddie Mercury one of the best performers ever right up there with Robert Plant. IDK if you want to do couple of their songs first but their Live Aid performance arguable one of the best Live performances ever.
This is my favorite song of Led Zeppelins and that says a LOT!! Thanks for doing it. And NO there was nobody like Led Zeppelin and will never be again. "My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon I will return again Sure as the dust that floats high in June When movin' through Kashmir"
There is a reason why that time frame is called the golden age of rock. The artist/bands that came up during that time are legendary and we have not seen that age yet repeat. Welcome to the rabbit hole!
I first heard LZ in 1973 when I was 11. LZ III was the first album I ever bought, and I am still at it. Watching your reaction is like I'm hearing it for the first time.
The live version of this from their Celebration Day concert will blow your mind. Much more recent show with the original drummer's son performing in his dad's place. ✌
In the 1970s and 1980s, as was known sex, drugs and Rock and Roll literally. But that being said Pink Floyd with a shot of purple microdot should truly be an experience like no other !
"Pink Floyd" !! They have many great songs for you to react to but, to really enjoy them on a personal level you need to listen to the albums beginning to end. After, a listen you will get what I mean. Make sure you have lyrics to follow along with as the song writing is off the charts deep. Start with "Time" from the " Dark side of the Moon" album. You are welcome. 😉
Much of their lyrics were magical and of the ancient realms. It’s what appealed to me as a young person. Other than heartbreak or prowess, it was magical, medieval, exotic. Still has that appeal. Seems timeless.
This is so much fun! Seeing a reaction to someone who has never heard Led Zeppelin before is a blast. Listen to the studio albums though, start to finish. It's a whole new experience.
Watching your reaction to Led Zeppelin is awesome...I'm almost 68 & they've been one of my all time favorite bands !!!! Takes me back to great memories. Thanks !!!
Pink Floyd “Comfortably Numb” live Pulse tour, Queen “Somebody to Love” live...rabbit holes for sure. There are many great bands from this era, all with their own unique style and sound. I’m a child of the seventies and eighties so my taste in music is biased to that time. I love your reactions and look forward to accompanying you on this journey.
You might not know this kind of music, but you definitely know music. Whereas other reaction videos go "oh they're great" (duh), you actually get them through and through. Fun to see someone of your generation appreciate Led Zep. Thumbs up!
a big reason Zep is still so popular almost 50 years later is because there is so much variety in their music catalog. 50-100 years from now their music will still be played and listened to..
This is the best band ever!! Grew up on their music! Coming from a family of musicians, we listened to all types of music. But, Led Zeppelin is in a league of their own. They're are all older now and sound better now!! But you have to check out Stevie Ray Vaughan's Voodoo Child he covered Jimi Hendrix ans it's out of this world!
Kashmir is a huge hit for Led Zeppelin, and it has been borrowed by many artist. What most people overlook in this songs is the most intricate part of john Paul Jones. He played keyboard and played bass with this feet. Ok here are few songs I have seen other yoytubers reacted to live and did not get their video blocked- Whole Lotta Love Live at MSG Black Dog Live at MSG Immigrant Song Live 1972 The Ocean Live at MSG These following songs you must check out as well. Lemon Song The Wanton Song Fool in The Rain (one of the best drumming by Bonham) Achilles Last Stand Heartbreaker Ramble On When The Levee Breaks ( i am sure others requested this already) Led Zeppelin has way too many great songs. You have enough materials to react to for sure. I remember you mentioned you are from the Bronx. I was from the Bronx as well. As you know LZ do not do live concerts any more, however there are many Led Zeppelin Cover bands. One that often visits New York is called Zoso. They usually play in late December and early January in Brooklyn Bowl. They usually do 2 shows and they are damn amazing. I catch them every year, Minus 2020 due to pandemic. I highly recommend them, check them out if you wish and still living in NY. EDIT: since you are looking for more bands, I suggest Black Sabbath (you can start with War Pigs, N.I.B, Iron Man, Paranoid). They are extremely huge and often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music.
As a 73yr old man I remember when it first aired. It was so new and out of this world. I think there is a 25 min live performance of Stairway to Heaven..
Greatest band of all time!!! The deepest and most consistent catalog of music in any era and any genre! Please check out Zeppelin's Achilles Last Stand, off of the their Presence album, it'll blow your 🤯
Glad to see you listening to Led Zeppelin !!! Keep up the good work, and keep listening to different bands from the old school of ROCK & ROLL ! Before the 80's for sure !
Outstanding in their own right as musicians, TRULY instrumental & lyrical God's. Tough to beat imo. 😎 Kashmir was my 1st love of theirs, named my cat Kashmir, and she was as mood switching as the song. (: Shangri-la lyric is correct! (:
I've watched a lot of reaction videos of younger people, like you, and one message keeps coming back: history. To really know music, is to know how it came to be. You don't have to like it to know it, but it certainly helps in arriving at a better understanding of why you do prefer a particular genre or style. Good job. LZ is the GOAT!!! But then, even the Rolling Stones have their moments...
This is the greatest band to ever exist. Some might argue The Eagles or The Beatles but they are just in denial. This band had the musical talent and influence of The Beatles and the live showmanship of Queen. No band will ever be like them.
I don't really think that you can compare them to each other. They all came from different eras, and their styles were not alike at all. It's all about your personal taste in music.
Kashmir was rarely played in concert, but you can find a much later concert video of it. The bombastic drums and rising and falling tones are illustrating the sharp peaks and valleys of the Himalayas, which is where Kashmir lies. Some of the rhythm is like the sway of an elephant stride. Shangri-la is a fabled city of mystics also in the region.
Once again, the Beethoven of our times. The building tension, the release, tempo changes, dramatic inferences, fanfares, crescendos. A master class. Symphonies love these guys.
I would agree for the most part however which is why I mostly listen to Jazz. Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays are truly two Geniuses who just so happen to play together. Chick Corea is another Legend who passed recently. They will open your mind to whole new perspective of Music and Emotion. Peace
I think there is still some creativity and excellent musicianship, but you have to dig for it. It’s harder to find, tends to be more underground, independent artists. The big popular stuff isn’t really the good stuff anymore. And of course, there was plenty of crap that was popular back then, but the good stuff got plenty of attention too, so there was a balance. Now, most of the popular stuff is turd, and you have to go looking for the good stuff.
No one talks about time metering changes and descending and ascending notes when they talk about popular bands ..only Led Zeppelin. I would throw in The Beatles. A total musicians band while selling 300 million albums being almost reclusive. Pure genius. As comparisons to Queen, to me it’s no contest, LZ had that mystery about them and their music gets better with age.

There is a live Kashmir from 2007 - Celebration Day. 30+ years later and they are still badass!! Impressive, take a look. ✌❤🤘
Led Heads in the house! just so you know we are the fun Aunts, Uncles and Parents
i can tell thanks fam
Don't forget us Grandparents 🤟😜
#Facts 🤷🏿♀️ 😊🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
Yes grandparents also!!!! My son is 27 and is totally into Vikings so i put him onto The Immigrant Song. My advice would be to just use the audio and not the video.
I'm an uncle
Zepplin has always hit my soul with their music. Real.
Heart tribute to Led Zep stairway to Heaven Kennedy Center 2012
You have to see them perform this live at celebration day while in their 60s. Phenomenal!
All music can give us memorys but zeppelin seem to take you on a journey , i dont know if anyone else feels that. I was fortunate to see them at Knebworth in 79 and will never forget that experience. My friend you have put your head in a rabbit hole prepair yourself for a journey like never before.
I always sorta knew Zeppelin but never listened too much. And recently I've realized how great they really are
This is amazing the guitar is in 3-4time the drums are in 4-4 time this is just a masterpiece
Kashmir was always a part of the show
Yes, he said 'My Shangri La beneath the Summer moon'.
I agree with this comment completely.
He was the "Hammer of the Gods"
Agreed
Man I wish I could listen to Zeppelin for the first time again with fresh ears!
I think you'd really enjoy the band The Doors. they're my favourite for sure. The song L.A Woman is a good place to start, a very bluesy, uptempo, almost romantic song about the love/hate relationship the singer has with LA.
If you're looking for bands which incorporate that change in tempo and feeling throughout the song similar to Led Zeppelin, The Doors will deliver!
The Doors - L.A. Woman
The single greatest rock band ever. Period. I only wish I hear this for the first time again. Head phones and on LP Album. Oh the times we had.
My story is the same except I would add anything Clapton and of course the Dead hahahaha
I totally agree❤🙂it was fun.
So agree! So many great bands! I have to add the Who! They were so dynamic! The list can go on forever! Yes we were so lucky!
Do we dare tell him about Rush?
Queen. Live Aid. Just saying
@@laduke5759 - Yup. Can't deny it.
And Elton John's remark to Freddie Mercury. "How are we supposed to follow that?!"
Queen will be awesome to watch! The Doors! Tool! So many! You have alot of music ahead of you!
Hi, you really start with the top of the top. Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band ever!
Actually, Bernie Leadon came up with the riff for Hotel California. Joe Walsh's practice riff was used for " Life In the Fast Lane."
You definitely have to listen to Pink Floyd & get into them. They're from the same time period, 60's on up
I go Beatles, zeppelin, Floyd
Forgot the Who.
I can tell you are a true lover of the craft! Welcome to a whole new world of music! I’ll bet it’s really neat for you to discover where some sampling truly came from! Sorry, but my day and age has brought forward THE BEST music…and the deep lyrics from Zepplin are thought-provoking and inspirational!
I’m a 64 year-old woman. I love all kinds of music!
I would say thanks for your comments on the music from my era, but I think you are more thankful to be turned on to rockin’ history! Enjoy! Subscribed, son!
Also check out Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick Live see the drummer do a 10 minute drum solo no instruments just drums. Lol
ok i heard about that have you seen other reactions to it
@@ROMsquad as a drummer myself there isn't anything like it. I've seen many reactions. Listen to your audience bro. Your fixing to be the track master. It's the playback of these songs that launched that sissy pdiddy
John Bonham is the undisputed GOAT of the drums. The live version of MOBY DICK is untouchable.
@@ROMsquad Yes I have seen others do reactions to it but its the Royal Albert Hall 1970. Shows off how talented he really was. It's a must watch.
Also if you're looking for next band to try out right up there with Led sure you heard couple of their songs especially Bohemian Rhapsody but Queen has to be your next one. Freddie Mercury one of the best performers ever right up there with Robert Plant. IDK if you want to do couple of their songs first but their Live Aid performance arguable one of the best Live performances ever.
Go with Ramble On, absolutely astonishing. Astonishing.
This is my favorite song of Led Zeppelins and that says a LOT!! Thanks for doing it.
And NO there was nobody like Led Zeppelin and will never be again.
"My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon
I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June
When movin' through Kashmir"
I LOVE that you choose live versions. It really shows the actual talent of the band!!
There is no band ever like Zeppelin..The song remains the same into the Rain song 😌

There is a reason why that time frame is called the golden age of rock. The artist/bands that came up during that time are legendary and we have not seen that age yet repeat. Welcome to the rabbit hole!
When the levee breaks. Youll definitely recognize the drum beat. Killer track.
LED ZEPPELIN ---‐--- THANK YOU ---- SWEETEST LOVE SONG !
I can’t wait until you go down your Pink Floyd journey.
Yes! Please go down that rabbit hole and don't forget Black Sabbath!!🤟😜
😁 I know! 😏 Right?!? And Rush is gonna 🤯 blow his mind. 😂🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
@@cityhonors1 Hells yeah, Rush.
Yes❤️✌️🌼
thats what I.m saying...
Yes...December 2007 at the "O" arena in London...incredible!!
@@lauriealbert-cooper4972 yesssss!
It's Bonzo on the drums in 4/4, with JPJ and Jimmy playing 3/4 that gives it that relentless, ominous and majestic feel ...
Try out The immigrant song or When the levee breaks by Zep. I'm glad you enjoyed Kashmir, its one of my favourites.
Led zeppelin on vinyl is absolutely brilliant!!!
Thanks !!!
Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks, Misty Mountain Hop, Rock and Roll, Black Dog, the Rain Song, Thank You, Hey Hey What Can I Do,...
The GOAT of all songs in my individual humble opinion. This is my quintessential favorite
Ok here are few songs I have seen other yoytubers reacted to live and did not get their video blocked-
Whole Lotta Love Live at MSG
Black Dog Live at MSG
Immigrant Song Live 1972
The Ocean Live at MSG
These following songs you must check out as well.
Lemon Song
The Wanton Song
Fool in The Rain (one of the best drumming by Bonham)
Achilles Last Stand
Heartbreaker
Ramble On
When The Levee Breaks ( i am sure others requested this already)
Led Zeppelin has way too many great songs.
Zeppelin was the apex. Welcome to the best, my friend. Peace!
"Song remains the same" movie has live version of this.....I would think there are clips on here of those NY concerts.
If you ever decide to go down the Pink Floyd journey, please start with an album and go song to song. Their songs are meant to flow back to back.
Outstanding in their own right as musicians, TRULY instrumental & lyrical God's. Tough to beat imo. 😎 Kashmir was my 1st love of theirs, named my cat Kashmir, and she was as mood switching as the song. (: Shangri-la lyric is correct! (:
Anything Chris Stapleton live is fantastic. Sometimes I Cry!! Tennessee Whisky!!
Well it certainly didn’t take you long to figure this band out! They still amaze me after all these years of listening!
This is the greatest band to ever exist. Some might argue The Eagles or The Beatles but they are just in denial. This band had the musical talent and influence of The Beatles and the live showmanship of Queen. No band will ever be like them.
The Beatles have sold more albums worldwide than Led Zeppelin and the Stones COMBINED.
"Whole Lotta Love" LIVE! By Led Zeppelin is great!
Rush is a band with lots of sectional changes. Three piece masters. Live or otherwise. It’s always perfection. Try Tom Sawyer
Xanadu was the RUSH song that hooked me.
You definitely started with the best band. Everything they did is incredible.
I’m curious, how do you compare today’s music to this music? For me, today’s music is empty of creativity.
The live version from 2007 with John Bonham's son on drums is EPIC. Highly HIGHLY recommend a video with that one. Other reactions have managed it.
Yes! From 2007, Celebration Day!
There is a band named Tool that you might want to check out.
@@thunderpriest7418 I've heard a lot about Tool since I started watching reactions. Don't know a single song. What would be their best to start the journey with? 🎶👌
@@CuzKatieSaysSo I am fairly new to Tool, so I don't know their catalog extensively. Some examples that I am familiar with are Schism, The Pot & Pneuma. Schism introduced me to Tool a long time ago, and I had been a casual fan....but it stuck with me. Pneuma is my current favorite.
Late 60s and the 70s were the best ever talent. I know. I lived it. I still am listening primary to this stuff daily 99%. Today's stuff to me is crap, I think you may even expand your genre of taste and be hooked. Not just because of your Led zeppelin following. They were #1 band in my book as a teen, still are over 50 years later. Such depth..no two songs alike.,,enjoy.
Achilles Last Stand studio and No Quarter Live from MSG in 1973 are 2 of my favorite Zep tunes.
I've been listening to this Song for almost 50 years. My cousins introduced me to Led Zeppelin in the 70's. In fact they still have the original Album! I love it more now and I didn't think that was possible. There will NEVER be another Song like "Kashmir"! The musicality, the sheer talent..it is a Masterpiece for all time. Just listen to how they weave the musical instruments and Robert's voice so seamlessly. It's mind blowing.
How many more times next! Really really good! You won't be sorry!
The Denmark live version is choice 👌
Love the Denmark version , that whole session was fantastic page jammin out on his dragon tele !!!
