This 1973 live concert is one of the best live performances ever, especially when you consider the times and how much they were ahead of everyone else. A true classic performance for any archive. This is the blueprint for every rock concert moving forward. Especially front men, Robert was the Golden God!
yes the studio solo was improvised (he always improvised every solo) he rocked up, plugged his guitar into an amp hed never seen, didnt even change any settings then did THAT solo 1st go in 1 take! the engineer who recorded it (andy johns?) rates it as the best solo he ever heard in his life!
Great narrative guys. I bought Physical Graffiti when it was released in 1975 I was 15. I'm happy Led Zep have been the benchmark for my musical taste to the past 5 decades. I love some other stuff - Steely Dan are excellent for sure, I love Gary Moore, and of course Clapton is God but I keep coming back to these guys. I measure all music against their achievements and all other music fades against them. They remain the only artists that make me cry with emotion. Truly unsurpassable, never to be experienced again, and thank you for all you have given me.
Chris, thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Great input :) We really appreciate your kind words - we publish new videos EVERY DAY on our channel so please subscribe and stay tuned
No distracting laser beams pyrotechnics or any other stage gimmicks. Just 4 masters mesmerizing a shell shocked audience with their overwhelming sonic stage presence
Very nice reaction. Great to finally listen to someone who does a bit of research and who has more to say than "Wow!" ;) Hope you do a lot more Zep, both studio and live.
@@galaxyjams I would sub but I see that only one of your 200+ reactions was to Zeppelin and nothing you have planned for the next month+ interests me. Good luck to you though.
Research? And the guy doesn’t know that John Bonham died in Sept ‘80 (two months before Lennon) and the mighty Zeppelin ended their days almost 45 years ago?
Honestly with Ked Zeppelin what comes up comes out it was probably all what they just did that day Robert seems like how ever he feels that day that's how he gonna sing it epic you guys get it you are try old souls bless you
According to JP, the guitar solo was done in one take in the studio. He’s also said that this was the most difficult track to record on the album. The challenge, I believe, was to stay true to the blues, but, at the same time, make it different and unique. Much of that was worked out on stage over the course of many performances. I think that one result of that process was the unique chord progressions you mention.
i saw them twice once in 75 and again in 77=monstrous you had to mail order only for tickets in 75 unheard of! i was very lucky everybody i know got the money order back but i got 2 tickets!!! i was really never the same ....

I've loved led zep since early 70s. Can't wait to hear the 3 surviving members join up with Jason Bonham again. John Henry Bonhams son. Amazing voice even at 74.
Kind of a weird thing to comment on, but i really like the framing scheme you guys have going here--all those neat little squares and rectangles, lol, just very pleasingly crisp or something, heh. ANd a fine reaction too--shot thru with insightful observations and proper exaltations about and because of the greatest rock band ever to strut on stage!

The most epic performance in rock history. Live at MSG are the best. So much feel. Most complicated time signatures. A lesser band would have devolved into chaos.
@@galaxyjams Thank you. I think I will! The Rain Song (video), Ramble On, The Lemon Song, Thank You ". Just shows a sampling of their incredibly diverse catalogue and ability to span genres of American blues, ballads, Celtic folk and, of course, face -melting rock. Great reaction, guys.

Yes he died in 1980. Led zep broke up after that cos they said they'd never find another drummer like him. But have got 2gether now & then with John's son Jason. Amazing.
No filter. No auto-tune. No gimmicks. Just 4 blokes doing their 'thang' Sadly, we will never see this again in our lifetime. But thank whatever god for the privilege. I saw them once - that was enough. oh and BTW - 11:38 - That is Percy's wife, Maureen (at the time)
Thanks so much for the recomendation, Yivanov82! We come out with a new video every day - so stay tuned and we will add that version into our rotation!!!
I agree that Robert's great but the fact that you talked incessantly and paused, during 2 ridiculously good guitar solos, suggests that you don't know much about rock. This performance is revered for many reasons but above all it's revered for Page's incredible guitar work! Technically brilliant but all about the feels.
5:57 NO!!! Never pause right at the start of epic guitar solo, talk endlessly about the singer, then fail to back up to the start of the solo again! 🙄🤦♂️
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
We totally agree :)

I saw Plant and Page in concert together in 1997 in Albany New York. They were still freaking gods.

I saw them twice in concert they were then and are still now the best band ever.. and yes Robert Plant was pure sex appeal
i saw them in Atlanta, 1969 and Honolulu in 1970. The Allman Brothers played at my senior prom 1970.
Wow! That would be an amazing time and memory to have. Love it!

Yes.

Thanks for taking us to school, B.!
Try Stairway to Heaven from the same concert!

The safety deposit was a payoff. If you think Zeppelin got robbed well, we all like stories.
