    This is by far the most in depth video for avid learners I've seen. You've covered all the bases. I'm thoroughly impressed with the level of detail and explanation. I love the timestamps and tools links in the description as well. I only had small follow up questions. Like how long do you wait in between sprays and what are those weights you use. I've liked and subscribed and look forward to binging the rest of your content!

    Excellent tutorial. As a side, G'MIC is also available for Photoshop....
    Once you have exported your layers, it it *should* be possible to import them into Inkscape and convert them to vectors so they can be resized easily.....

    great video.
    Would you consider doing a video on how to design art work onto a motorcycle crash helmet. So from a plain black helmet to all custom images and colours. I would like to learn this so I can paint my crash helmet. Pull off the design to make stencils to paint.
    Thanks Hope you can do this.

    • @WickedPaint
      @WickedPaint  2 роки тому

      Thanks Cliff, glad you enjoyed the video and that is a great suggestion you've made. I very rarely get the opportunity to paint helmets but the next time I do it would be great to make a video on it. Using stencils on a helmet would be a bit tricky though due to the curved surface but showing the process to create a unique design is something that I would really like to do more of on the channel.
      I'll definitely put this down on my list of videos to make and hopefully it won't take me too long to get around to making it.

    Love your tutorials. These inspired me to buy a Cricut Express. I created a 5 layer stencil from a portrait but I have way too much "noise" and it was going to take hours to print out one US Letter size layer. Can you do a video like this one (Spiderman) but with more detail like you did with David Bowie but in GIMP rather than PS? Thank you and keep up the great work.

    • @WickedPaint
      @WickedPaint  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Brian, So glad to hear your enjoying these tutorials and even got your own machine! The process in PS and GIMP is very similar and if you want more detail in GIMP the simply adjust the 'Edge Simplicity' and 'Edge Fidelity' when your using the cutout filter in GIMP. The trick would be to adjust it so you can get the major details without too much noise. You can also use the blur filter before the Cutout filter to reduce the amount of noise you get.

    Great tutorial mate. Might sound silly but between Gimp and Inkscape which would be better for multi layered stenciling? Does one offer more detailed stenciling over the other. I’ve noticed people using PS and gimp, what advantages would that have over using Inkscape which is vector based. Trying to decide between the two for my next project. Thanks

    Great Tutorial! Just started my cricut journey, one question I got the green and the a bit less sticky blue mat, when I apply the Cardboard (same as yours) it is really hard to get of without destroying everything. And advise here?

    • @WickedPaint
      @WickedPaint  Рік тому +1

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! I use the green matts too and you are right they are pretty sticky. I use 220gsm card which is a bit thicker and helps but you really have to just go slow using cards or spatulas to help. The worst is when you start doing high-detail stencils and some of the details start to tear!!

    • @svncl
      @svncl Рік тому

      @@WickedPaint thank you for your quick reply! I figured out if you take an old tshirt and tap with it on the mat so that lint will stick on it, the more you do it the less the mat will stick, it still perfectly holds the cardboard in place, but will also allow to take it off smoothly. :)

So when I select my numbers of layers (7), the "colors to layers" tab at 6:50 does not display the number of layers I have requested weather it be 7 or 9 on my screen it only shows less than 6 layers? Is there something I missed along the way? How do I fix this? I've hit the reset button and nothing. Thanks!

    • @WickedPaint
      @WickedPaint  2 роки тому

      Thanks, glad it helpful and that your trying it out. With colours to layers it will sometimes combine layers if the colours are similar or the area is too small. To fix that set your color tolerance to 0.1 and your minimal area to 0.1. Hopefully that will fix it for you.
