OMG WILL PUTNEY!!! Next to Kurt Ballou, he is one of my favorite metal producers! I have chased his Hate tone for so long, and this sounds pretty close to him!
Dude... DUDE!!! Thanks a lot man. I bought this one today and what should I say. It sounds amazing! Even the Standart settings sounds better than the best settings I could get with Guitar Rig. I'm not a guitarist but I use this one with the Odin Vst and it just harmonizes so perfectly. I just had to quit after 5 Minutes to slowly realize what's actually happening.
Damn, I checked out the full demo vid on the STL site and it really sounds awesome. So much versatility, yet it doesn't seem to fall into the "jack of all trades, master of none" pitfall. Definitely going to purchase
Did I hear your dog in the background around the 3:13 mark? Digging the tones from the amp sim. These are getting ridiculously better every year. Great review man. Cheers from a former Oregonian.
Nick K so it’s just basically a different workflow really. Ultimately, it does the same job as Reaper - just differently and more expensive. I got caught up in Studio One 4 hype and bought it but could just as easily have stuck with Reaper :) so don’t feel like you need to get it because it seems popular - Reaper works great
JST is plugging the hell out of TFMM today because they know they got finessed by STL. i'm on my 6th video in this plugin and it sounds incredible on ANY setting. it MIGHT dethrone TSE x50 for me
I immediately bought the Putney Tonality as soon as it came out, and it definitely beats the X50 and all of the Toneforge stuff for me. The 5150 model alone is enough to justify the $99.99, but getting that, a handful of other decent sounding guitar amps, and a bass amp? Damn, it's like STL and Putney are giving away their deepest and darkest secrets for nothing
@@shizumaruofficial I don't know anything about a list of them being anywhere, but I can tell you how many there is in total. 36 assorted Will Putney guitar tones, 10 assorted Will Putney bass tones, 50 album guitar tones, 20 album bass tones, 30 additional bass tones, 10 STL made tones. So in all there's 156 presets, too damn many
Thanks a lot for explaining it. I got it. Could it be possible to know wich two IRs did you use? In the video I saw the "Omnipotent" one, but is it possible to know the second one? Thanks
Lol the Howard Benson plugin is one of the best in my opinion. And I nearly own every plugin on the market. Try high, low pass filter and cut out the fizz. That generally improves the tone a lot on amp sims.
would you do wills tonality plugin or tonehub where you can grab more packs. so torn on how to start for my first guitar plugin. id love your thoughts.
General question about amp simulators: The sound/tone that ends up in videos like these for the demos, can you hear it through your computer speakers as you play? I like playing along to songs I'm learning, but with the lack of space, the little practice amp I have just doesn't sound all that great.
More features definitely on the stl....but the neural dsp fortin nts is based on the greatest amp of all time....i m having a hard time deciding on the 2.
Got the demo and it sounds the best of any plugin ive tried. It still sounds saturated though. This happens with every plugin I use. What am i doing wrong?
Hey, i hope u can help me. I bought the plugin today and i "tried" to install it on my Windows PC. You are the first I see it running on Studio One. Can u help me? It wouldn´t start. Always on Loading VST 3 and VST 2.4 Studio One crashed. I Unistall all and do it fresh but nothing helped. :( Cheers
Bias amp 2 is a joke compared to stl plugins. Sounds much more real when you know how to use it properly and how to use eq, especially with external IR cabs.
Anybody bought this yet? Looking for unbiased opinion. I'm a Fortin, bias fx2, and THU owner. Fortin being my favorite however is not a tone that works for all the songs. So looking for something of that quality of sound but more versatile.
I have BiasFX, an older version and Amplitube 4.0. I've also tried the Fortin stuff. I have the PRS pack from Waves too. I don't like the Fortin...Bias, I never find myself using it. Amplitube is what I use the most, mainly because they partner with all the actual brands (Mesa / Engl / Soldano etc.). This looks very cool though...the problem I find with almost all of these is that out of the gate you don't get a lot of good sounds from the built-in menus. The fact that you can dial up tones that Will used on an album is a pretty big deal to me. I wish it were a little less expensive though. I'm still on the fence about buying it.
I have the other STL plugin, the Benson Tonality, and it blows TH3 and Bias 1 out of the water, haven't compared to the others yet. Might snag this one.
It sounds to good if that makes sense? Meaning to my hears its not a real amp distorted sound. Its very tight, fake in a sense an to good. I'm not hating tbh I've heard worse an I am sure many guitar players can benefit from this. No hate just my IMO
joehervey84 honestly, I think that is just the Will Putney sound. His tones sound very clean and mechanical. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
@@blendernoob64 oh yea u right bro,ty 4 not attacking me lol. Its nice someone like you is out there buddy. As far as matching the said tone sure it does . I wanna get a computer an start playing an recording. So this plug I craze could be for me,I'm doing guitar/pedals /amp for home playing. No way to record or really come up with riff's/songs an edit my playing. I am open to a digital sound it comes down to the cheapest full set up that I can get a heavy usable tone. Sucks I Need a PC rig etc.
All that "low end" you like ends up usually controlled by a multiband compressor from 150-300 and filtered up to 90-100 just to let bass and kick drum sit balanced in context for heavy music anyways.

Will is a God of tone and production so im gonna get this if I finally try to learn guitar again
Dude...your t-shirt collection is truly epic.
I think the guitar tones demonstrated at 2:17 sound thin and flat (as a lack of resonance).
I’m holding out for the Seth Putnam tone pack 😂
Guitar tones are gay
Great review!
Definitely worth checking.
STL are slaying right now, more for your money compared to Neural's single amp for the same price.
How about a Studio One tracking template like you've had available for other DAWs ;)
What’s the deal with studio one? Is it more efficient in certain ways compared to other DAWs? I mainly use reaper. Jw.

Oh yeah, wicked tones too!
this will probably be the first plugin I’ve bought in a while, his album tones have been consistently INSANE

You should do a comparison between your new block letter 5150 vs the plugin 5150! Interested to see the differences.
Do you still have the Triple Crown? It would be AWESOME to hear the real one v/s the sim in this plugin!
Having trouble with this on Reaper, lots of clipping, any advice?
He produced for Stray From The Path, who are one of my favorite bands of all time, and damn their tones are killer.
how do you pull up the pictures of the cabs in the plugin?
Thanks a lot for explaining it. I got it. Could it be possible to know wich two IRs did you use? In the video I saw the "Omnipotent" one, but is it possible to know the second one? Thanks
Can you EQ before the blend? Can you modify the signal chain at all? Or is it basically that's what it is.
Sounds interesting. Hopefully if I get it it doesn't end up disappointing me like the Howard Benson one did.
like how the nameless dissapointed me :(

Here I am trying to fix my son's gaming headphones and boom the sound just blew my mind as I held the wire. Wow.
How's the VH4 compared to the Kazrog models?
I understand this video is specific to metal tones, but any input on the clean section? Great video, Fluff.
If you watch the official demo for STL, Wes and Will dial in a MEANNNNN clean tone I think through the Diezel.
Which amp in this suite has the best clean tones?
@Ryan Bruce How well would you say that this models the Triple Crown?? As you seem to be quite familiar with that amazing amp.
Thanks.

Shootout against the Fortin Stuff!
Oh yes!
Protonaut fortin wins for me because of the user interface and look and feel

isaac thrash i got plini + nameless, think it covers everything
Fredrik Svärd plini???? He has a plug-in?? Or u mean his guitar?
Drum track is sick...riff was sick...
Do the whole song!!!
Plugin is sweet tooo!
But that riff...
Think I'll get this one. Andy James can easily be overlapped with Nolly and plini
Could you use this also with stream labs or how could I use this for streaming on Twitch? Thank you in advance :)
Sounds really, really good. Nice features too.
Cant get the clean ton right kinds of bums me cause i want to play some tool and vh4 distorts even in super low gains
Nice sounds great.. Thanks Fluff

quadzilla60 rumours saying this year!
If loving Will is wrong, then god damn you do it right! Hahaha great vid and awesome tones!!! 😵
Which amps are they specifically trying to mimic?
Peavey 5150 ii, Bogner Ubershall, Mesa Triple Crown (I believe), Diezel VH4 and a Vintage 69' Ampeg SVT Bass Amp
could do a cover with plugin for electric bass

I like the ETID tone better than yours :P OK I saw Matt Heafy's demo but I like yours better. This sounds really good.
Awesome!!!!
Sounds awesome but is it a CPU hog ?
Thanks Fluff All these plugins seem to be CPU heavy I prefer to Di no CPU usage and real Amps 😀
