@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu one heck of a learning experience :) P.S. Over the last few months, your content is helping me make amazing progress as a white belt and I love being able to use all of this to bring value to the rest of the gym. I never expected this would happen, so thank you!
I really love the commentary of these quick sparring matches. The notes on getting your opponent loaded on your hips was great. There is something that just clicks with the slow mo movements and the commentary. It’s a perfect way to explain why some moves do or don’t work.
That one principal alone of loading the passer onto your hips has helped me so much. Guys I was struggling to sweep are now being swept. Just stumbled across this BJJ channel, its now probably my most watched. Thanks for the great content , keep it up 👍
hey Jordan, your videos of commentary and rolling with your white belts lead to amazing learning tutorials for new white belts like my self. You give a tone of information with each of these short rolls. Awesome job man
As a fresh white belt I love your content ! Some of these I may not be able to learn or apply now but it is great to see and hear the logic behind these sweeps/guards !
Thanks man! A variety in terms of skills required for sure. Cool to think a lot of them, when do you do learn in class, will make so much ore sense now 🙂
Commentary is hilarious, but also shows how many bad habits I have. Wanting to be good "on my back" so I start on my back and immediately get passed in Torreando or something. I like hearing the fundamentals, Jordan.
Really enjoy the videos with white belt. As a white belt myself, it's a lot easier to relate and more importantly, understand what's going on. Love the content Jordan!
Wait, you are going to be filming an instructional for bjj fanatics!!!???? That's AWESOME. I love watching your UA-cam channel so I will definitely get your instructional on bjj fanatics! Thank you so much to BOTH you and Nikki for taking the time to make these videos
100% would love to see this in a no-gi context. Honestly, I would love to see a breakdown of no-gi grip fighting, as it is related to, but different from, gi grip fighting. Outstanding video, as always! 👊🏽
Thank you for this .. I needed it. Past couple weeks, I have been trying to work on sweeps .. While I have been finding lots of success on the newer/lighter people, I always get stuck against bigger guys or high belts, especially those with great base and control grips. The way you let people come into you, and use their momentum against them, instead of fighting against them to get the sweep is really enlightening. "Path of least resistance", I always hear you say it but I never really listened. I think I kind of get it now. Thank you Prof.
Makes rolling so much easier when you let people make their own mistakes and capitalize. Definitely try and implement into your rolling and see the difference it makes!
Your content is always really insightful and the cinematography is amazing. The angles of the camera and the speed of the video make it easy to understand what is going on. Thank you. I am definitely improving by watching your videos.
That was great. 👏 I hope you and Nikki enjoy yourselves when you go to shoot that video in Boston. 😊 When it comes to working either on top or from guard, I would've said on top before watching this video. 😉😄 Honestly as you demonstrate, being proficient in both positions is the most effective way to ensure success. 👊
this was really cool. hopefully after that seminar you can do some separate videos on the sweeps like the one specifically on some of the half guard sweeps you did. That back step pass would be good too.
Had my 1st comp today and took 2nd place. Your videos helped a lot. You mentioned in a prior video you'd rather catch ppl on angles than pressure pass, would be great to see a video on angles.
GREAT video. This is exactly what I asked for. Thank you so much Jordan :) I need to watch this a thousand times, my guard is so trash. I feel more comfortable in side control than I do in most of my guards. This video will help me so much. OSS!
Superb content. I really like to see the annotations about the positions. Really drives it home how in 20 seconds the path to sweep is often through a full chain of positions before the work of sweep is done. sit up guard to collar sleeve to de la riva to x-guard and sweep from there. King of the mat is so great for hitting all these different paths. Bravo!
Great video!! Content is amazing and getting better each video. Can’t wait to see the instructional from BJJ Fanatics and hear how it’s a “huge honor” to have you guys in Boston. Great job!!
Great stuff. I love your videos. I am a first stripe white belt and am working on sweeps really hard to improve my game. I have to watch these videos again and again. Thanks 😊
Great video! I'm a bigger guy (6'4", 230) and generally prefer playing bottom, either closed or spider guard. This is great stuff! The thing about their weight over my hips to help the sweep will be so useful. Would love to see some spider guard sweeps in the future as well.
It's great to see a black belt raise the fact that white belts are so unpredictable. One day, when you're on your travels, you should recreate the classic "black belt pretending to be white belt" prank, and leave a whole gym wondering why the day one white belt is passing all their guards.
If I shave my head and beard I think I could be unrecognizable haha. Just gotta do something about my cauliflower ear or it'll be a dead giveaway. I would absolutely love to do a video like that lol
Jordan, thank you as always for a great video! Also, huge congrats on passing 30K subscribers already! Stoked you are filming an instructional for BJJ Fanatics, nicely done!
This was excellent in the sense that it gave me a much greater appreciation of how to start a roll when guys that are trying to pass aggressively. This ties in with your grip fighting video nicely. I'll need to watch this a few times to catch all the variations but live examples and different options against the different opponents is exactly what I feel I need right now. Thanks so much!!!
Congrats on BJJFanatics. "Huge honor for you". Great video. Tried to focus on grip fighting today. I see how it's so important. I'd love a drilling video on defending the berimbolo. A purple belt is killing me with it. I know whats coming and it doesn't matter. Great job as always.
I’m a newbie white belt currently out trying to heal a herniated disc and severely unhappy about it. Your videos are keeping me going, hoping some of it’s going to sink in without actually being able to try it out… Thanks bro 👊
Rolled with my professor during open mat the other day and its amazing how EASILY a black belt can just dominate at any second no matter how bad of a position us lower level guys may have a black belt in. Literally 20sec into the round he got a clean single leg and had me upside down with my leg by his head and my face by his ass. Everything I thought I was going to do was just a dream 🥴
This is my second favorite video. First day back after 3 week break (covid) and was able to hit some of these. And I have never played any open guard (8 months in). Mainly top player but this makes the bottom so much fun. Would really appreciate this same format in no gi. Great stuff, thank you!
Great idea for a video coach! Got to see myself at the end for a few seconds where I get saved by the bell...lol. That was a fun, and demanding exercise.
Yes please, this would be very helpful in no gi. Also adding how do you handle someone who is very quick and athletic aggressively running around you in a circle trying to pass both legs into side control? I try to keep spinning on one hip and get my foot past the closest leg for half guard but it is a real battle.
Guard. Because I feel like whenever Im against anyone bigger they most often get me to the ground. So I sorta settled and started working on single leg X, x guard and half guard variations. Works wonders, and watching you helps a ton. Looking forward for your instructional! 🤛
I’ve been training around 8 months and could never figure out why sometimes I can roll someone right over with ease and other times they won’t even budge. Can’t wait till next class to put this concept into action!
