To this day, Braum is still one of my favorite champions ever. The feeling of pride that you get when you save a teammate by pulling up your shield at the last second WHILE JUMPING TOWARDS THEM LIKE A GODDAMN SUPERHERO is unparalleled.
Legends never dies autoplays in my brain every time I make that play. Flash + w + Shield is league`s super hero landing
Braum still has one of my favorite passive. When you and your teammates work together to get that stun always satisfy me. It the support that makes me feel like I am supporting correctly.
Mad respect to braum mains
As someone who has played Braum since release, it really is a pretty simple champion and I feel that his gameplay really makes you feel like Braum of the Lore. Pretty great winrate as well.
Also, one of the best champion theme songs ever!
I was having a great time thinking back of the good old times in League of Legends and then you had to remind me of Blade Dance
i am still traumatized from it
Bro i got flashbacks
TELL THE PEEPO WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN TODAY
*play patterns flashbacks*
IONIA!!!
My favourite moment is when Azir said "It's Shurima time" and he started ascending all over his enemies and allies
I read this in Azir's voice
wow so original
@@Jiovalo the meme is cringe rn but I will never get bored of it
@@MIDO44444 where is this meme from? i always see this meme format in commente but i dont get it pls😢
@@4clover682 morbius they joke about him saying its morbin time in the movie (he didnt) and thats where its from.
I love how it's become tradition to say Braum's name in the accent whenever anyone talks about him. It's like Braum is his own mascot for league of legends, everyone loves him.
Braum is so much fun to play, as long as you're in a 5 man where everyone knows how to play with Braum
Yuumi is the same it's fun to play as long as everyone knows how to play with her
I've found duoing to be fine, but yeah it's nice when all players know that autoing is a part of kiting with Braum passive.
Slight correction on azir's lore, he waited till after ascension to free the slaves because removing something valuable to that society is difficult and people already hated him so ascension was his way of saying "oppose me, I dare you".
That's why I like azir, in hindsight I see Azir as an old man with very outdated thinking from today's point of view but at the same time he was a pioneer of future ideas. The problem with power is that if you don't have enough of it, the more powerful group can overshadow your decisions. So to make sure that his decision wasn't countered, he had to have all the power so nobody can reverse his rule. He was like when that old mathetician told his peers in the near future we would have calculators that were huge sizes, to become small enough to be in our hands. Or the old scholar that I can't remember the name of, that said that the earth revolves around the sun and he got killed because everyone at that time, says that it was impossible.
I just find it interesting that Azir, even though he was a tryant/emperor back in the day, was revived and his thinking has now become with the times and isn't considered "too ahead for his time". Azir wants to reconnect with his extreme great great granddaughter and the new kids, because he wants Shurima to improve, he wants his children to improve, he wants his people to improve. It's like a father kid relationship. Also in the family there is equality.
Side note: I find it weird that people says Shurima is bad because Azir is bad. What is worse? Serving a ruler that will give you equality, or have Democia kill you because you're a mage or Noxius because you're too weak? Frelijor is just cold and survival of the fittest, Targon is basically religion war, Shadow Isle is where you want to commit suicide, Ionia is where you want to meditate but nature wants to play with you like a kid because magic is sentient there and the occational Noxius soldier trying to kill you just cause.
Side side note: Riot I want to see more Acendend champions, we have bird man, dog man, gator man, energy man. Give us a new ascended that looks awesome and expands Shurima's lore and Azir's lore.
@@Torchlava100 I really want to see a more human ascended because Aatrox wasn't an animal ascended, idealy inspired by Nepthis maybe so Shurima stays egypt inspired
Wasnt THE MOST beloved Emporer, when he was ruling shurima? He was hated by the outsiders, but so was every emporer
@@bartagame_3070 he was the youngest of his brothers and his father didn't like it that he named his slave xerath, nor that he treated him as a friend. When his other brothers were killed by raiders, azir's dad was so against him becoming king that tried to make another son with his wife( in which xerath thwarted)
@@elementmanexe8389 i mean yea i know that he was hated by his Father, but the Society loved him, as it staytes he was the most beloved Emporer that ever existet, ik how he became Emporer
Must say I still love how Vel'koz was essentially my first ever main League
Nowadays I dont play him as often, I have a bunch of other champions I like playing as well, but nothing beats going back to the eye ball mage who fires his lazor
Same for me
I would kill to have more of these retrospect videos. it's so interesting seeing into the past.
Dont kill. Kill bad
@@marlowencna ooga booga
I've only started playing Wild Rift recently, and I gotta say I fucking love Braum. He perfectly fulfills a fantasy of a totally selfless warrior who, seeing someone about to eat a face of buckshot, manages to jump in the way just in the nick of time with shield raised and save them from certain death. I get so much satisfaction from jumping in the way of a skillshot that would have deaded my ADC, eat their barrage, walk slowly towards them punching them in the face, and watch my ADHD twink femboy Ezreal duo partner blink in and roast them. If I can counter initiate a teamfight and save my teammates, it doesn't matter to me if I died or not- watching my passive proc on them one after another while my team kills them all after I ate three different ults is how I get my sick kicks. His pitiful damage is basically a moot point for me, if I wanted to play a support that can kill things I have loads of options. I just want to see my team in the chat going "thx Braum
The season with the introduction of my favorite support to play as, BRAUM!
Aw well, Even if you don’t enjoy playing him nicky, you can still appreciate his character!
I would really like to see a Season 8 retrospective. It had the fewest amount of new releases with only three (Zoe, Kai'Sa and Pyke), but 6 whole VGUs, and plenty more gameplay updates.
Zoe was season 7 no?
@@Keurgui1 So according to the wiki she was released on season 8, but then I checked her profile and it says she was released on patch 7.23, so that might've been preseason? I might be wrong, but point still stands that season 8 had barely any new champs tho
@@benjaminbosque1880 Season 8 was mostly VGU’s
A lot of prolific champs like Irelia Aatrox and Akali were done that year too so yeah would love to see it
Season 4 had AMAZING champion releases
Ever since Braum released he has always been in my top 3 favorite champions design and gameplay wise
I love this series purely for the hype of whenever we get to Season 6 which was the PEAK of League champs.
Sion’s rework was when I first started playing, it’s cool seeing the perspective of someone who was around beforehand.
I still remember being in middle school one day, and one guy bragging "This new champ, Azir, he's the hardest in the game, and I know how to play him.". I was an Aatrox one trick who hadn't even tried mid lane in his life, so naturally I picked Azir up for the bragging rights. Needless to say, I fucking sucked at him for years to come, still do, but no other champion is as near and dear to my heart to this day.
10:23 aren't those cards depictions of prehistoric yordles that lived back in the day, but all of them aside from Gnar died.
This is awesome I always wondered if you would do rewind videos for past seasons but I figured with seasons constantly coming forth you wouldn't have time.
The fact that you will anyway is AWESOME
Happy Birthday dude, your videos are some of the most fun i had with League of Legends content in a while
As someone who started playing league this year I'm super excited about this format!! can't wait to hear about all the old seasons
Man i still remember back when Sion got reworked and for like the first few patches, he was so buggy. His q and e couldn't be cast once you hit level 6 unless you manually cast them from the hot bar. his ult was fun but did no damage, but it was fun to play as ap sion until the gutted him. Azir was also very fun but different when he first got released. Anybody else remember that he used to be able to deal damage with his q on towers by using a charge of his soldiers.
I started playing the game weeks before Yasuo came out. This was a huge time capsule for me seeing a rewimd from the season that I began playing League. Thank you Nickyboi.
First of all I want to say. This content was amazing, please keep making it. Its a good thing for your channel.
Secondly and most importantly
Happy birthday mate, hope you have an amazing day!
Seasons 5 and 6 has got to be the peak in Champions
Oh yeah you definitely have to make this into a series
It’s weird to think I started playing in 2013 and I literally have no memory of any of this lol. I kinda remember braum coming out, KINDA.
Really cool retrospective. Would love more of this kinda stuff! Old league is super interesting.
I can't wait to see more in this series. I started playing back in season 2, and I remember the excitement of these champs coming out. It's interesting to see how those champions aged after the fact. Braum was a really fun champ, but I don't think he's aged quite as well as the others.
I find him way more rewarding and fun in ARAM than SR. I think it's just that there's more golden opportunities for his abilities in a constant teamfighting environment like that.
Jumping to save your teammate like a superhero, blocking a devastating ult with your shield, getting a solid ult off for your team- heck, even just being able to punch someone into a stun in a fight because no one is paying attention to you.
I first started playing when Braum came out, his theme song was the first contact I ever had with League, watching his login screen as I first entered the game. Braum's theme is THE League of Legends theme for me, yet I never once played him...
I've stopped playing for over a year now, but the sudden Braum theme got me the feels
Braum was the first champion I tried out from a weekly free champion rotation. I fell in love immediately, I started saving up to buy him after the very first game.
There was nothing more satisfying for me that saving my teammate from a bunch of projectiles withy E. Good times.
I really liked the transitions before each champion where you keep it slightly muted and then let it out at full volume on a swell along with the champion themselves.
Having played since preseason 2, I think this season should REALLY be contextualized. This year was Riot resulted in the conundruum of building the game around pro play vs regular player base. Most of these champs had inconsistent reception in terms of play rates, barring Velkoz and Yasuo (tho skill inconsistency was very fuckin real). Ultimately this season's champions should be remembered with that idea in mind, because RIot legitimately did not know whether these champs were a success because pro play and high elo reception or whether they were more hit or miss due to majority of the playerbase (on avg low plat and below) mostly feeling indifferent to them.
I started playing league when Braum just came out. So I always had a special feeling for him. Specially since I got hooked to the tank and support role.
Loved the rewind.
3:45 best thing I have ever seen regarding Aphelios passive. Thumbs up for that one.
loved the idea, keep up with the great work!
The Guy on the old sion clip is called couillebleu which means "blue ball" in french. Ball singular
I am absolutely in love with Vel Koz's lines, he seems like a void scientist of some sort and he is amazing.
A great year for game mechanics, an artillery mage with weird q skillshot not in a straight line, a great warden, a great summoner, gnar's logic behind changing forms (abilities changing with his form)
thank you for the “i’m-a firin’ mah lazor” reference. it makes me happy.
I started playing in season 4 and Vel'Koz was a huge reason why. His release teaser was gold, his themesong still gets me hyped to this day and lockscren animation (rip) staring you down was amazing, accompany that with Sp4zie and the new map and i was hooked.
Also happy birthday!
The
Yasuo was one of the reasons I played this game less and less until I eventually quit. My friends occasionally drag me back for a bit, but the game has changed so much that I ended up getting farmed even harder because I knew basically none of the new champs and items lmao
I began playing the game in this season, about a week or two right before Gnar's teasers, I still remember seeing Braum on the now abandoned champion-based login screens. It felt like a magical experience to start in such a grand season, especially with all the changes being made and not understanding why they were being made... but it was fun as heck!
This was great, I'd love to see videos like this for every season
As someone who very rarely engages with the league community online, I'm very surprised to see that this Braum gameplay sentiment is so common! I've always thought of him as a very easy support to play, and he's my go-to champ if I don't feel like trying too hard or I don't know what to pick into a matchup
Lowkey this is slowly turning into "champion themes I haven't heard of yet but need to" for me lol
that *B R A U M* line delivery had me spit out my oatmeal i love you nickyboi never change!!!!
Idk why, but i find Braum gameplay enjoyable! Perfect teamfight ultimate, stun EVERYONE (when your team cooperates), and oh my gosh it's so satisfying blocking enemy projectiles n ADCs entirely
Something you forgot to mentioned about azir, as an azir main
Back in the day it was impossible to play him for varius not because he was hard but because
- as soon as you locked him people would dodge (people thought he was garbage)
-you would get flamed but just picking him
-people would report you for simply playing him.
-every patch he was nerfed.
-everyone would compare him to zed
But oh boy i remember you carried or pulled a good combo everyone would loose their shit or stay shocked. Which definitely was a great feeling
Season 4 was also the season they threw the institute of war out of the window, with vel'koz being the first champ released who didn't mention the IOW or the League of Legends in his lore. And at that time we didn't know why, the retcon was announced that summer!
I know that I tend to give you shit at times, but not only was this nice and wholesome, but as a fellow october baby, I must:
Happy Birthday Nicky, hope you have a good, I look forward to more of your suffering in the future.
Season 4 is when I started right after the brain release I remember being hyped about a champ release and having so much fun with friends good old days
I also played Azir, but because he is visually my favourite champ. But I lost all my games and because of that played someone in Azirs Lore: Xerath. For the reason of him being an important part of Azirs Lore I am Xerath OTP now.
I came to League a few days after Yasuo was released, and I still remember how my friends (who was already playing Lol) were excited about the new champions
Champs like Azir or Gnar, or even Yasuo weren't new and interesting only for a newbie player, but for all players
A new champ with transformation mechanics like Jayce
A new champ with an attack speed/AP build like Kayle
A new whole map
That season is the reason I kept playing Lol for a while, hoping that something new like that would come
And something me and my friends could be thrilled about once again
Mah Boi Braum, I still remember countless hours of playing League back in the day with my friends auto-locking Mah Boi Braum.
As a new player who wasn’t here for the early seasons I love these kind of videos. To understand what the game was like before I knew it.
"The course, rough, and gets emperor"
your incredible joke writing never ceases to amaze me, that was hilarious
as an avid support main and one who's main was braum(before pyke came out) i can attest that the reason why braum feels the same as a-sol is because he pretty much is the same as a-sol. he can do a hell of a lot and can have a major impact but even when you are doing a lot it just doesn't feel like you're doing much as such there are no real hype plays that you can get behind. hell even with healers you can have that clutch moment when you save someone from the brink of death but with braum you don't really ever get that the cc on his ult is way to short to be of such significant value that you'd go ohh that's the reason we won and the rest of his kit just doesn't have that impact.the shield blocks an entire MF ult... yeah that's it's main use... the q slows down somoene yeah...but it's 1 target and doesn't stun right of the bat so without everyone else it doesn't seem like a catch. there are plenty of hype moments you can have with other champs where you just can't with braum.
first of all, happy birthday Nicky
secondly, I WANT TWISTED TREELINE THIS HALLOWEEN
thirdly, thank you for taking the time to upload even on your BIRTHDAY dude, you're awesome keep going
lost my shit laughing at the star wars scrolling text joke, 10/10 video
I started playing a bit before Kindred's release, playing Garen and anything that caught my eye was fun but the actual first champ I ever mained was Gnar, I saw him in the shop and knew I wanted to buy him, I saved up for him and got him. I instantly fell in love with his emotes and his kit.
And to this day Gnar has stayed as one of my most played champs with one of my higher masteries alongside others that made their way into my roster, even after I got all champs.
Azir is when I started league, I still remember how excited I was to start.
I miss that
Season 4 was the season I first started playing League, this takes me WAYYYYYY back man.
Man, good memories. This was when I started league, back with the game wasn't...this, and I was still playing it. Back when DFG was around and AP tristana was a thing. Good times. Good. Times.
Glad to see me bribing Nicky to play Azir whit bits all those years ago finally payed off
Oh man watching this video brought back so much nostalgia of when I first began to play the game on my own laptop. I had seen the game many times prior, but the Yasuo, Velkoz, Gnar, and Braum release is so cemented in my brain as the new champions when I first started out, I still expect to see them at 6300 BE.
you should add more info on the huge gameplay over-halls done to league as a game rather than just focusing on champs released. would love to see back on what Riot thought was a good change that ended up getting reverted. ie tower changes (remember when they used to shoot lasers that ramped up damage over time? fun stuff like that could be interesting to hear about
Absolutely love how you present the champions with thier themes in these videos.
Thanks for making the comparison between the void creatures and Tyrannids. I mean Cho is basically a Carnifex. Fun fact though Tyrannids used to be basic alien ripoffs and looking at their old minis it's pretty easy to see, hell one of the Hive Fleets is literally called Hive Fleet Geigar. I always kinda thought that Leagues Void is like if the Tyrannids came from 40K's Warp and Bel'Veth's theme tune sounds like how I imagine the warp to.
Season 4 was when I started enjoying the game, since me and my highschool friends would play the game afterschool, even though I started on season 2, season 4 was when I really started playing league full time.
See I have the opposite issue, all the supports you mentioned I can't wrap my head around except Thresh, but Braum in my mind is THE quintessential support.
I am with you on the "Love Braum, don't want to see him in game" thing.
Words cannot express how annoying, unfun, and honestly just toxic it is to get hit by one Braum Q or auto attack and know that you are forced to back off until his passive wears off or else you get guaranteed stun if his ADC hits you three times.
He's an absolute nightmare to play against, no matter how good you are at the game, all it takes is one tiny mistake to get hit by a Q and die.
I started League after Braums release. To this day his theme music reminds me of my early days in the rift. And shortly after they released Azir! I was so fucking excited. To this day Braum and Azir are some of my favourite champions to play
I see you with that Monster Hunter background music nicky
I'm not sure why but when he was on yasuo and said damage type, I was really hoping for the following:
"damage type: brain"
This is gonna be such a nostalgia trip because season 4 is when I started!
OMG That Azir Irelia images bring back horrifying memories.
Ah many seeing this just reminds me how much I miss the login screen having the new champ on it with there theme. The last time I remember that was the Pantheon rework (that or his theme is just that good) but man do I miss it to help sell the new champion.
It's funny. I started playing League around the time Vel Koz and Braum were released, but initially I had no interest in them.
I don't play league very much these days but over time, those two became my mains for midlane and support respectively, and whenever I do occasionally play League, I almost always use them.
Happy birthday nickiboi. Also this was when I started league with Yasuo being out for some time.
That LoR reference really made my day
Braum is probably my favorite champ (and the reason I like shields as weapons in general), so I wanted to make a point about his gameplay considering that was the main focus of his showcase: Braum ain't a tank. One might think he is similar to Leona as a champ, but Braum is closer in style to Renata. Put it simple: Braum doesn't start fights, he makes sure people come back from them.
I didn't like playing Braum until I did double support bot lane with my friend playing Nautilus. I launch Q, he hooks. I E to him to get in close, and after one hit, they're already hit with concussive blows
Season 4 was my first season. Freshly new to the game, so naive and ready for fun. My literal first game ever against people had me go 0-25 to a Yasuo.
I remember starting league when ekko was the login screen, and i think season 4 was either about to start or end. I can't remember anymore. I've been playing this game for too long. xD. Most of the champs at the beginning of this video were released while I was still in high school.
Happy birthday Nicky I love you
And you take the pain of trying to stay alive away for like 18 or so minutes
I love how Anakin didn't just killed Azir, but the Azimen and Azildren too.
Season 4 is when I started playing league. I remember braum was the newest champ to come out when I started playing. Watching this video makes me miss the nostalgia of the older days of league. I thought it was so cool seeing the new champ on the log in screen animated with a bad ass song playing
I ABSOLUTLY feel you with Braum... It would be so great if I could play him
I miss pre-rework champions A LOT, as an old poppy and old galio main.
Also i feel a missed opportunity for not talking about on release yassuo and all the nerfs he got since
Love the quality and the fact that it doesn't drop even with a tighter upload schedule
Also keep the tf2 references coming much love
The Bauss literally made Inting Sion so good that Riot indirectly and directly nerf the chap into oblivion xD.
this is such cool content, i dont know how it took me so long to find ur channel but im gonna be binge watching 🍿🍿
season 4 was the first time i played league, despite the god forsaken runes system, it has a special place in my heart
Just gonna put this here really quick.
Azir didnt free the slaves since he was still HUMAN. He planned to free them when he ascended. You know, when he became a GOD and could'nt be assasinated easily. I hope you at least understand this, unlike Skyen who shoves his fingers in his ears and pretends to not listen.
ive started really playing League during s4, and VEL'KOZ has been one of my fav champion
seriously love him
I can't remember when it happened(I really want to forget about it) but I think the first major overhaul of a Champion was graves, and it hurts to this day that we will never be able to experience his older self ever again. But from S4 my favorit Champion has to be azir, he is one of the champions from my very small mid champion pool(pretty much my main) and he is not as hard to play as people make him out to be, it just takes a few games to understand that not every opportunity for a shurima shuffle needs to be used.
I wasn't really playing league as much as I do now and I didn't have the time to really play it as much, but I really miss Kha'zix old evolved Ult passive, the near infinite invisibility was so fun when I had to time to play, yes I was pretty much a jacks**t jungler like any late game Master Yi wannabes, but I really enjoyed the time I had with it...
I should've abused it so that I WON'T BE STUCK TO F**KING SILVER!!!
Edit: I almost completely forgot but HAPPY (late) BIRTHDAY FROM THE PHILIPPINES!!!🥳
Season 4 was my second season and it was fucking incredible, this video was nostalgic
Nicky actually the best League content creator on YT hands down. Don't bother tryina change my mind cause you can't
Happy birthday!
Season 4 means a lot to me as its when I started actively playing (Whe Velkoz released). Also helps that I pretty much one trick Gnar now. Hope more people play him in lower ranks cause man, I swear im like one of 4 people who do
I started playing League back in the middle of season 3, so season 4 was the first season where I experienced EVERYTHING. Every champion in this video I was there for on release, so this video really brings back a lot of memories. Not all good I mean I was a mid main who was there for Yasuo release week I can't exactly say I look back on THAT fondly but-
