- In today's Episode of Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel, Sakura escapes the Emiya household after relinquishing Rider. Her plan is to stop Zouken. However her plan is stopped early once shinji arrives. After an abusive episode Sakura finally snaps and the darkness consumes her. Shirou, the one who promised to protect her, was however too late.

So in one of his letters Tolkien was asked why he chose to make Frodo give in and fall to the Ring at the end of RotK. He replied that in his mind Frodo never fell, that just as people have limits to their physical strength, they also have similar limits to their spiritual and mental strength, and that when persecuted by demonic forces there is a point at which its no longer their fault if they succumb.
"It is possible for the good, even the saintly, to be subjected to a power of evil which is too great for them to overcome - in themselves... Frodo deserved all honour because he spent every drop of his power of will and body, and that was just sufficient to bring him to the destined point, and no further. Few others, possibly no others of his time, would have got so far."
I view Sakura's fall to darkness in almost exactly the same light. While she is not unaccountable for her own actions, neither was it within her power to avoid this end given what had been done to her by Shinji. I do not belive anyone would or could have avoided falling to Angra were they faced with the same situation, and most would have simply curled up and died years before.
This is something i really love about Sakura's characterization. Most stories paint their heroines as incorruptible, able to withstand all the evil has to offer without breaking.
Sakura is someone who did their best to remain sane within her own human limitations, but it wasn't enough.
When she sees the posibility of her last ray of light disappearing (the fear of Shirou disappearing from her life) she abolutely breaks down. And as you say, she should still be held responsible for her actions, but said actions are understandable and even sympathizable.
@@lavos333 I think many authors are actually afraid to write female characters failing these days. If you write a woman with any kind of weakness or shortcoming you will be acused of misogyny.
The recent rash of absolutly abysmal female characters in pop culture like Rey from Star Wars or Capitan Marvel is no coincidence.

1:12:18 Fun fact:even tho it's counted as uncensored version and in censored they hinting that Shinji was raping her,but he didn't say it out loud but they actually added it in movies so props to them in that regard.

Yeah i guess the main similarity between Kirei and Shirou is that they not have a clear identity of they own,therefore they trying to imitate who is beside them whitch makes them really chaotic characters.Of course Kirei's color's are more clear in comparison to Shirou's since even with lawful people beside him Kirei still wasn't able to suppress his desire to see suffering of others......tho that doesn't mean they were kind so maybe he actually did a pretty good job imitating his father?But now Kirei saying to Gillgamesh that there is nothing left in him besides desire to seek preasure (isn't Gill was saying similar things in Fate/Zero?) But of course just becuase they good at imitating behaviours of those beside them,doesn't mean they don't have colors of they own with Kirei it's more obvious,but Shirou has one too.It's just his way of life and goal didn't come into conflict with his nature that much.........as much as people likes to laugh at high jump scene it clearly shows his true nature and how different it is from Kiritsugu's.As disturbing as it might sounds but Shirou never stated that he wants save the world from suffering,he wants to become the Hero of Justice whitch meants he has to save everyone in front of him........saving people was only the means not the end goal he wants to save people not becuase it will save the world but becuase it will make him Hero of Justice.At the end of the day Shirou just wanted to cope with his trauma becuase for him tittle Hero of Justice means someone who is worth being saved by Kiritsugu.......and if we think about Shirou being saved from fire akin to being born a new,then title the Hero of Justice for him holds the same importance as Angra Mainyu for Kirei even tho practically reaching those things will give nothing to them,by doing it they would be able to prove they self worth to themselves and it will make them feel fulfilled and happy.But they probably both understand it's not impossible since it's impossible to save everyone whitch means become the Hero of Justice he wishes to be,and Kirei can't watch Angra Mainyu grow since he will be first killed after his birth.But i guess the fact itself that he will be born into this world,will confirm to Kirei that even if he was born evil it wasn't a mistake......

Using up all the command spells doesnt break the contract, it just means you dont have a fall back for when your servant decides to murder stab you or anyone you wouldnt want them to murder stab. It just means you have this heroic spirit constantly draining your MP to live and no control over them.
Also, fun fact, Shinji`s death and Sakura accepting her darkness is the end of the 2nd HF movie. 3rd one starts with the convo between Shirou and Zouken

Ironically, and perhaps its part of the joke, but Kirei is actually pro-choice. In 40:00 he states that if the mother chooses to reject the child before their birth, he would respect her decision
