- In the Semi Finale of Let's Play Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel we decide to save our projection and allow rider to come in clutch in helping us defeat saber alter. Doing so allows us to stay alive a little bit longer causing the ultimate throwdown to occur. Kotomine Kirei vs Shirou Emiya. Two dying men fighting over useless folly, by their own ideals they are both opposites yet the complete same. Truly mirrors of one another.

"I don't want to admit it. But it seems... I like Kotomine Kirei"
Shirou is such a tsundere towards Kotomine. Also obligatory Kotomine Kirei is best girl and this sentence proves it.
so true, Kirei is the best heroine ever
😍Kirei best waifu, husbando, and everything in between
I love how Shirou is struggling to remember everyone but immediately says Kirei full name, such a lovely relationship.
"My face hasn't turned into swords yet. It'll be over if I'm hit there-"
*gets socked in the face a lot of times*
Hey never really got hit in the face. Kirie was only hitting him on other areas of body.
Nasu is a true GOAT, even now, i dont care what haters say.
Cant wait you catch up to other works.
Kirei in the Normal Ending-
*Kirei:* "Emiya Shirou..."
*Shirou:* "Trace On!"
*Kirei:* "Wait, Shirou can you hear me?!"
*Shirou:* "Ex-"
*Kirei:* "Shirou wait a sec-!"
*Shirou:* "Calibur!"
*Kirei:* "FUCK! AHHHH!"
kotomine gets cucked out of his final battle lol
This is canon in my mind now lmaoooo
And somewhere in there, Justeaze in body of Illya is talking to Zouken
One thing I absolutely love about this fight, particularly about the OST in it:
So long as Emiya( the heroic theme) is playing, Shirou is getting his ass handed to him.
After the interlude, the music switches to the first part of Light and Darkness, having said darkness be Shirou's desperate struggle to find a way to survive. A frantic defense, looking to survive just another minute, just an extra second more.
But the moment he stops fighting as a hero, and remembers he is fighting for Sakura, he gets a second wind and the music switches to the second part of Light and Darkness, reflecting the light of the hope still burning inside Shirou, the hope of having something, someONE to fight for. And that proves to be the driving force that balances the scale back in Shirou's favor, since Kotomine has no such thing. And Shirou just goes BANANAS on Kotomine landing punch after punch.
It's an INCREDIBLE way to link narrative and music, something FSN excels at in lots of places. Usually people reduce it to just "cool music good", but having a track reflect what is happening in the scene itself, or having shared songs/leitmotifs to link different scenes and help you make the connection between them? That is simply genius.
I agree, music choice and placement is something that doesn't get talked about a lot. But It can enhance and tell a story on it's own.
What would you say EMIYA Legacy brings to the scene?
35:53 yup........you know what's the worst was about this? Is that Zouken was actually a good guy!He actually wanted to save the world, and create the world without conflicts! (And yeah he had a crush on her.....) He is basically the worst outcome of what Shirou and Kiritsugu could become if they decited to pursue they dream no matter what........Zouken's life is basically aт embodiment of "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"
The manliest fight in fate
Needed this for more context. Thank you.
the best fight in fate
Kino.
If i remember correctly, this fight can also have a unique Emiya theme (LEGACY) if you activate it in the music options. I remember tinkering with the songs after i got them for the first time, just seeing how they compare between each other and doing a salad of different versions. I thought i wouldn't like the Realta Nua OST but some of them were quite better than the originals.
Yeah, definitely one of my favorite EMIYA Version
Light and darkness is great remixed
@@markallieu7097 I love LEGACY. It makes the scene so much cooler
In F/Z Kirei desperately tried to meet Emiya Kiritsugu, only to realize that it wasn't Emiya he wanted. And only now, ten years later after Kirei finally found Emiya he needed. Emiya Shirou.
Kotomine Kirei - holding out for a hero. Literally)
Kotomine, the true heroine of Heaven’s Feel
Are you planning to play Fate/hollow ataraxia? This is another masterpiece, for me it is no worse than stay night
Kirei best grill
If I had told you a few days ago that you would finish this series feeling sorry for Zouken I bet you would have told me I was crazy. :D
But yes, save for Shinji every single villain in this series gets moment where one is meant to pity them. Even Gilles went out with a moment of clarity and remorse, and Zouken is no exception.
Similar to Gilles he beheld a vision of the Divine (True Magic in this series is close enough) and had a spiritual breakdown shortly before willingly embracing death. This is a classic divine judgement arc, where the sinner who has gone beyond the usual levels of human evil is forcibly confronted by a vision of their own error before being obliterated in a manner against which they have no defense, often directly by a god rather than a hero.
This is less commonly talked about than something like the heroes journey, but it is its own thing and is especially common in classical mythology and religious texts.
It should be just as telling that Kirei does NOT face this fate and remains undefeated and unrepentant to the very end. If anyone could ever be called a hero for evil it would be him.
Anyway.
Dress of Heaven Illya is transcendently regal, one of the best character designs in this entire series behind full regalia Artoria. I guess I said that about Justeaze last ep, but really they are more or less remixes of the same design. Crowns are just pretty at the end of the day.
Cannot wait for you to finish this off, its been a wild wild ride.
Where one is meant to pity them? No, not really, plenty Villains aren't meant to evoke pity. I mean, Gilgamesh is more than just a caricature, but at no point is he something that is meant to be pitiful, the closest to that would be HF, but he gets to that point after mutilating the waifu of the route and specifically because he is arrogant.
@@richardimreviragosi6413 There is a difference between evoking pity in a moment and pity in general.
@@GrimgoreIronhide Gil evokes neither. His motivation, nor his demised, are something to pity. One can understand and sympathize with his views on humanity, but what's there to feel pity over? That humanity doesn't coincide with what he wanted?
As for his demise, they are all fights he could have won, but lost due to hubris. All three times, he attacks the heroes to complete his plan to flood the planet with curses so that only the strong survive, and in all three routes he puts the ones on our side through immense pain.
@@richardimreviragosi6413 Gil's moment of character empathy is when he is slain by Saber and laments he will never be able to have her. Its not quite the same as the pity moments that the other villains have, but its definitely a moment where the reader is meant to pause and reflect on things from his perspective a bit.
The evil he does is irrelevant to our point here, again I'm not referring to the overall theme of the character, but a singular moment of self reflection that each one gets.
@@GrimgoreIronhide Character empathy and pity are very, very different things, hence my disagreement with your claim. And a dude trying to force someone to marry him and realizing it will not happen isn't a moment of empathy, either.
What the hell are we meant to reflect on? "Oh yeah, I guess now that he decided not to kill everyone close to Saber and force her to be his wife because he got killed by her instead, I can definitely think from his perspective." UBW is the route where there's something actually to think of, and even then it boils down to people not being interesting enough, and thus he decided to commit genocide.
By that standard, Shinji has way more going for him in those regards. In UBW he gets hooked on Angra Juice, and we are presented the source of his inferiority complex. Shinji's motivations are way easier to understand and see from his perspective than Gil's.
This whole sequence is part of why Zero is a failure as a prequel. As Kotomine claims, he has not found his answer. The entire crux behind his plan to birth Angra is that he needs to witness what a being born “evil” chooses. Because he himself finds no joy in good deeds.
Zero however screws this up by claiming he found his answer when he touched the grail. They attempted to fix this by saying he needs to witness the process, not merely to be told, but that is not what he claims in Stay Night.
Heaven’s Feel as a whole also shows how different Zero and Stay Night approach the tragic aspects, especially the resolution.
absolute bruh moment.
I disagree, in Zero he accepts his evil, in Stay Night he wants to know why he was born that way and if it is okay to be born that way. Different things
