There are a lot of "Holy Shit" moments in Fate Stay Night, but Nine Lives Blade Works is a proper "Holy Fucking Shit" moment.
Genuinely the only time reading or watching anything that I couldn’t contain my own excitement and had to verbally react with “oh my fucking god”
If only Archer thought of this, the Fate Route could have been very different.
@@Ragdefender non blackened berserker can dodge nine live blade works, it only worked because he was so weakened in this form
@@Jame5p420 Weakened here definitely but Archer did kill Berserker 6 times. If he had done just one of those times with nine lives he would have won.
@@Ragdefender it wouldn’t have, nine lives is berserkers own move, and he had god hand during his fight with archer (he doesn’t here), so it wouldn’t have done any damage. It’s a move berserker inherently knows how to counter/dodge, despite the fact he doesn’t have the motor skill to perform it himself in his berserker form.
If archer could have killed berserker, he would have.
Garcher carrying the team even after his death
I'll forever remember the moment Emiya starts during the wind. It's so iconic
Honestly, you don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for you to experience Nine Lives Blade Works, also Emiya bout to pop off
Same, I know he would be hyped
When I saw the title and thumbnail pop up in my notifications, I dropped everything I was doing and got food and drinks ready.
Watching you get giddy over nine lives blade works makes it feel like i'm watching myself experience fate all over again, love it
56:18 yup Shirou likes to bluff, about not having doubts or regrets in his mind but this is for the first time when he truly becomes someone who has no doubts.....
Nine Lives Blade Works was incredible in the film adaptation. Completely breathtaking.
Yes, Seiba was wrecked by Berserker in Heavens Feel like in the Fate route.
A reminder that suicide is a capital sin in catholicism ,so if Kirei killed his wife, she would`ve gone to heaven, but since she commited suicide ,she went to hell. So why did Kirei want to kill his wife himself?
Yup, halfway there, all we need to do now is use Projection whenever the game gives up the option to. Mostly cuz Nasu hid the good stuff behind those choices
Kirei is that you?
Shirou FUCKING emiya is truly goated
KINOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hopefully you get to check out the "Wrong Choice" bad end before the route end, they know the one im talking about, I think it enchances the ending by a looooot
I feel like I'm the only one who didn't get hyped over Nine Lives Blade Works, I mean it was really cool but I think I was too busy staring in horror because I kinda realized that Shirou was basically committing suicide right there even if he dies in a day or two instead.
The most badass suicide.
I mean he was going to die no matter what, like Shirou said, ''I'm using this arm so I can stay alive.'' He did the absolute best he realistically could have, and holy shit his best was unbelievably cool.
I feel like you are giving Sakura too much sympathy. Kirei was right. She tried to pass herself off as a new personality when it was just her. Drunk on power and vengeance. She suffered, but she is killing and hurting people who didn't do anything to her and didn't even know she was suffering. (except Shinji and Zouken. Rin knew she was at the Matou family but clearly didn't know what was happening till she found the "training room."). It's as if I suffered a lot and went out and killed a bunch of innocent people who didn't know me because I was mad at the world. It's the thought process of terrorists and mass murderers.
Totally agree with you
While I agree that Sakura deserves criticism (as much as every other character), I think it also needs to be remembered that this is Sakura 'speaking with Angra Mayu´s influence'. These thoughts are indeed her thoughts, but they are also 'enhanced to the extreme' versions of her thoughts. And the reason why Sakura came to see the world this way is her upbringing (as Kotomine points out earlier in this episode, that people lean more to the good or evil according to the environment that raised them).
@@jonmaunula8093 I look at it like the influence of drugs or alcohol. Your behaviour changes but its still you and that defense won't hold up in court if you are convicted for any crimes you committed will under the influence.
@@Twiska I agree with drugs and alcohol analogy, but I also think that in this case you (or court) needs to take in consideration if the person in question (Sakura) consumed drugs and/or alcohol of their own accord. It was Zouken who injected Angra Manyu into Sakura's system and Sakura did try to resist to it's influence to the point of mentally breaking down.
In conclusion; I agree that Sakura's actions are still her actions and that she needs take responsibility for them, but I also think that just one-sidedly blaming her, claiming she's straightformally evil person and that it's all her fault, is a mistake.
@@TwiskaHope is pretty open about his sakura bias but he isn't denying what you said either. He straight up acknowledged it.
You unlocked assasins backstory
It just occured to me that Illya is probably the only escort mission waif in video games that people dont feel like murdering after the mission.
If this was resident evil Illya would be stopping ever 5 muinets to flail around and get lost, she would periodically turn around and run TOWARDS berserker and you would have to wrangle her back somehow... It would be just endless bullshit.
My complements to the VN programers for their work on Illyas pathfinding software in this section.
Better AI than resident evil 4.
@@Hopeful_Games Can you even imagine the number of timelines where Archer died because Ashley stopped running in the middle of the Dead Apostle outbreak to start screaming: "Help me Shirou! Shirou! HEEEEEEEELP!"

Funny thing is that F/SN Kirei is WEAKER than his F/Z version
Well Fate Zero Kirei has like 14 command spells and is in his prime so I’m not too surprised
It's been ten years and he did die at the end of zero. But I don't think he had a weaker showing anyway. He ran for several minutes at over 50 KPH, took on Assassin, destroyed Zouken and was wresked by Saukra because she had access to the thing that was keeping him alive. What did he do in Zero that made him look stronger than in Stay Night? Unless it is lite novel stuff that was cut from the anime I can't think of anything.
@@Twiska We have no showings of the difference (because Uro likes to nerf humans, apparently), but Mushroom Man stated that young Kirei was physically stronger than Bazett while F/SN Kirei is weaker than her

I have 3 different Emiya theme for 3 Shirou in my mind.
For Shirou from Fate route, I'd say Emiya Realta Nua remastered version. Original Emiya theme would suit for UBW route. And this Heaven's Feel Shirou, I strongly recommend the one Kenji Kawai version.
Nope. South of heaven for HF Shirou man. Need that electric guitar.
Crow Claw's version is what I have in my head for HF. But it's not an official version.
@@Twiska that works too

I'm someone that really, really doesn't like Heaven's Feel in comparison to the other routes (it's still good, just not on the level of Fate or UBW to me.) But even so, Nine Lives Blade Works is undeniably one of the best moments of the VN, definitely the highlight of the route in my opinion. Really captures the themes and aesthetic of Heaven's Feel perfectly, and encapsulates what's so interesting about Shirou in this route.
Regardless of how many problems I have with Heaven's Feel as a whole, it's really hard not to hit this part of the story and be incredibly hype. The next few hours of the VN are easily some of the best.
Why don't you like HF route?
@@whateverwhatever4476 It's not that I don't like HF, it's just that it's...... messy in execution, especially in comparison to Fate/UBW. With Fate/UBW, they have a thematic throughline/dramatic question that they individually pose, and the story is pretty clearly focused on that theme/question, whereas HF feels like there's a little too much going on narratively, likely due to merging Sakura and Illya's routes, and it's not really helped by the awful, lopsided pacing. Sometimes it feels like certain parts of HF are written for shock factor, specifically to throw the reader off of their expectations from Fate/UBW. While this is effective in the context of all three routes together, when you look at HF all by itself, I feel like it lends itself to a weaker story that doesn't stand on its own as well.
Then there's the Sakura problem. While I like Sakura as a character, I feel like HF is kind of emotionally manipulative in trying to get you to care about her. Rather than let you grow to like her organically like Saber or Rin, Nasu can't seem to not beat you over the head with this poor girl's trauma and horrible life over and over again to the point where it becomes excessive from a writing perspective. It fells like he's trying to wring out audience sympathy rather than let the reader form their own opinion on the character. I like her well enough already on her own; I don't need a reminder every 5 minutes that her entire existence is suffering and that I should really feel bad about her. I get that it's probably to make people less judgmental/hateful of her actions after merging with Angra, but...... certain bad ends make that a hard pill to swallow. Overall I really like her and her complexities, but I wish Nasu had a little more restraint in trying to make her the saddest, most tragic character ever.
Last main reason has to do with the ending; I'll try keep it vague from here, but spoilers/ending talk below......
The one major theme that HF does have throughout the whole route is sacrifice. The dramatic question of the story, in a manner of speaking, is "how much will Shirou give up to save the one he loves?" And for most of the route, this theme is rather salient. Until the very end. Let's just say that I am really not a fan of HF True End, and the fact that people call UBW Good a fanservice ending while simultaneously fawning over HF True has always been a pet peeve of mine. Do I think HF Normal is the right end for the route? Not really, but there really should be a middle ground between the two that works better to reinforce the themes of the story without throwing away consequences.
This is all relative of course; HF is still one of my favorite stories in all of fiction. I used to dislike it far more when I first read the VN, but with time I've gained a greater appreciation for it. It just falls short of Fate/UBW for me.
