So glad I found the musical version of HoND - one of the best Disney's in my opinion, for certain reasons. This song makes me bawl my eyes out everytime. The longing for a place to belong, a place of freedom, somewhere where we can love and be loved and live in realized hope. Just beautiful and heart-breaking. Thanks!
Also worth noting, I feel, is a small nod to the original novel at 0:57 with the guy handling a bell manequin that is used to test pick-pocketing skills on newcomers to the Romani culture.
Also with noting, not all Romani were pickpots. Very dangerous to equate such a thing to an entire culture. Even this movie shows that mentality is unhealthy.
@@jacobbelow I feel like the film's main issue - aside from the Gargoyles - was their mishandling of the Court of Miracles scene in that they didn't do enough to show that the Romani weren't everything that Frollo was saying they were. At least you can block out the Gargoyles more or less but the whole scene just felt hypocritical because it was like they were reinforcing the stereotypes. I still love the movie but tbh this video would have been a better fit than what we got
@@jamesa.romano8500 I don't disagree there. That's why I value this song as an addition to the stage musical adaptation, to really show the more humane side to the Romani, after their whimsically-macabre song about executing intruders. It gives a sense that the Court of Miracles is truly a haven for outcasts, and that everyone in the sequence are all bonded through their longing to find acceptance.
Quasimodo's part in this song is always so heartbreaking to me. You've done such an amazing job! I've been loving all of your Hunchback musical animatics! ❤
“In a Place of Miracles” was not one of the stage play songs that particularly stood out to me, for some reason. So I do not have much to say about the song itself, other than how I like the Heaven’s Light reprise from the animated film being incorporated into it. Nonetheless, the visuals do once again add some nice atmosphere and made it interesting to check the song out again.
Your animation is lovely, but as to the song itself I prefer the deleted scene version from the film. This version is hard to follow due to Quasimodo singing his own song in the background. The only part I kinda like is the gypsies singing about finding somewhere they'll be welcome.
Yup. And it's not hard to see why. It was a song where they were all celebrating being together, apparently having forgotten the sense of urgency of Frollo attacking at dawn. The way it was reworked in for the musical makes much more sense, and makes the song better for it, as it gives a sense of solemness at the prospect of the Romas having to leave, while still retaining the theme of togetherness.
I remember as a kid, Quasimodo. I walked up to a disabled person & gave him a hug. I now work with people with various disabilities.
If Disney ever makes a live action remake,
They better add this. That’d be a miracle
I'm kind of hoping they combine the Disney movie and the stage musical a little.
This is the only movie I want them to remake.

This is heavily underrated, and so is this lovely animatic. Good job!
Thank-you very much! While I don't have anymore Hunchback animatics to post, I do currently have at least one future animatic in the making!

Speaking of musicals based on Victor Hugo novels, have you seen this recent parody of “One Day More”?

@@markcobuzzi826 I have just now! Thank-you for sharing! That was both brilliant AND inspiring!
It's interesting that in most adaptation esmeralda is a gypsy but in the book she's "adopted " by them. (Tecnically they kidnaped her)
Absolutely beautiful! 😍❤️💕
This.
This should be in the movie.
I love this! Would love to see you make one for the deleted film version of the song

The deleted scene version is sappy and has a unicorn in it.
This is far superior.
@@HauntFreak13 Well, taste is relative.
He was singing a reprise to Heaven’s Light, which in this case, talks about his heartbreak.

Fun fact: this was the deleted song in the movie because the creators thought it was disconnected with the story.
