In "How I got fat? Why I'm morbidly obese? | Losing 200 lbs | Weight Loss Journey | Workout with me" I had to face some hard truths. Recently a few people have asked in the comments how I got to be the size I am. At points of my life I have struggled with depression and I am a high anxiety person. It was a struggle to share my journey to my highest weight, I take great comforting in the confidence I have knowing this is my final decent. I will never be this large again. I am doing everything the right way.I wanted to approach this topic that hurts and is depressing in the most positive way possible... so why not with a workout!

sahtification it’s not about staying positive, but to actually sort out what the drive is behnd the eating disorder. Food and weight is just the symptom, but the root of the mental health is the reason!
Which is why it’s so dangerous when people within the healthcare system will only focus on the weight and shame the overweight/obese person for not working hard enough to lose weight. When majority of people who will get therapy for at least 1 year that can help them with their trauma (which is usually the root), and gherefor get to a place where their body wants to be naturally biologically. Moving and not having a consistant place you call home can be a trauma for a child, military mentality is not within your norm home etc etc, and then add the bullying. In the same way an anorexic person can’t be told to just try harder to eat more (it will not remove the mental disorder to change the weight). Relapse in the eating disorder usually happens when not enough mental health support has been there.
A person can’t think their way out of mental health issues, it takes lots of time and effort with the help of the healthcare with people who specialize in eating disorders. Eating disorders is NOT about willpower. Saying it is, is the same as saying that people choose to have an eating disorder, when an eating disorder is a servere mental disorder that is so complex you need specialists within the field ro help those who suffer from them. You wouldn’t say the same to someone who is struggling with Bipolar disorder.
The reason people gain weight or lose weight again after having some camp staff or medical people focus on the weight is because nothing changed about the mental health, but instead the ”help” came in the form of food and workout. People know how to eat and workout, they need help to figure out the drive/lack of drive and why they get comfort from food what they try to comfort themselves from. Just like an alcoholic isn’t drinking because they like it, it’s escapism from emotions that the reward brain chemicals offers when it’s taken in.
18:56 She gets it, and hopefully she has the ability to see a psychologist once a week consistantly for a year minimum. I truly believe she can beat this disorder and hope she can find inner calm💕🙂

My girl! Don’t jump rope just yet. It can be dangerous to jump rope because of the stress placed on the knees and ankles. I’ve injured myself a couple of times from jumping the wrong way throughout my dancing career. Those injuries do take you out of exercising for a while since recovery can take a while. There are other exercises that can raise your heartbeat and keep you active without the stress that jumping brings. It’s really important to not only know when to jump but also how to properly jump in order to reduce any injury risks and for being able to stay active 24/7.

I went to a class at a gym and the instructor wanted us to sprint. I couldn’t sprint so I gently jogged. Gave myself IT band syndrome. It hurt SO bad. At the end of the day it still is a choice. Most people blame it on other factors because they don't want to accept that their weight is a result of their own choices. It will always be calories in vs calories out. If you're in a caloric deficit you will lose weight. And this is coming from someone who's been dealing with anorexic-like skinniness for almost his entire life

To the first two repliers, honest question, do you guys know what the word factor means? In the context of making a choice a factor is a circumstance, fact, or influence that contributes to the result of an outcome. A factor is generally not something that completely robs a person of their autonomy, as you both seem to have suggested. For example, factors that may have contributed to the replies that both of you wrote may include having limited knowledge and limited experience with weight gain issues. Please understand, when wehaven't experienced something personally, we tend to compensate for our lack of experience by using common and anecdotal knowledge, and by creating assumptions. We also have a tendency to want to simplify things, because the easier something is to understand, the more competent we feel.
So while it is true that weight gain caused excessive calorie intake, it is also true that a variety of factors that can also contribute to weight gain. I am not an expert so I'd recommend you speak to healthcare professional for authoritative information, but for know I will list some factors that are fairly common knowledge and/or that plenty easily accessible information:
      - Medication
      - Thyroid disorders
      - Genetics
      - Hormones (eg. Insulin, Leptin, cortisol, etc.)
      - Stress
      - Mental illness
      - Metabolism
      - Polycystic ovary syndrome
      - The Cerebellum
      And moreeeeeee.

@@tianna5353 I hate this type of virtue signalling. Just because what I said isn't what you like to hear doesn't make it untrue. Your weight is a result of your choices, period. Of course there are tons of things that can affect it (pregnancy, mental problems, financial issues) but none of them make it impossible. I just find it annoying when people hide behind these things. If there's something that's holding you back from reaching your goals tackle that first. But some people just use that as an excuse to give up. Telling people that that's fine won't help. Sometimes people need to hear things they don't want to that's all. No hate

Same here - I'm tidying up just now. It's like: I keep looking at it and annoys me and makes me stressed out but somehow I can't get myself to do it most of the time.
I've been furloughed and then been made redundant and weigh more than I feel comfortable with (I'm not even overweight). But with being unemployed and the job market being very difficult, you start feeling useless. It's easy to fall into the "bad eating habits" trap again. I had a good talk with myself, have taken up (light) weight exercise and indoor cycling in the morning and also ditched the bad eating habits. In the evenings I try to go for a walk.

I'm glad you are pushing to be a better version of yourself, and it's AMAZING that you want to regain your health both physically and mentally. If someone tells me I'm too fat/old/ugly to run, I'll take it as a compliment because people only say things like that if they are jealous or have issues of their own.

You're such a beautiful and engaging young woman. I'm 59 years old and I see my young self in you, but you have so much more self insight than I did at that age. I too struggled with weight for my entire life. I too moved around a lot as a young child, and my husband is a 20 year retired Army veteran. We moved a lot, he was gone a lot, and he deployed to two wars. I'm so happy for you that at your young age, you are mindfully addressing the why's for your weight gain and addressing them. I failed so many times with so many diets, medications, and even bariatric surgery and nothing "took" until 2019. I'm finally having success and feeling wonderful, but I mourn losing my 20's, 30's, 40's and into my late 50's. Be proud of yourself everyday and we who are watching your journey are all happy for you.

@@sghaua Good morning. Yes, I started Keto in June of 2019. I'm menopausal and I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and I've managed to lose 50 pounds. It's been very slow, but the weight has come off and stayed off (still working on 25 more) and my health has greatly improved. I watched the Dr. Eric Westman white coat youtube video and that is the route I took. I have to be very strict to stay at minimum carbs, but I didn't watch calories at all and I make sure to never get too hungry. A year later, I have found that being more protein based with minimal veggies works better for me, but that was a year long process to get there. It really works if you stick to it. Good luck!

She’s not making excuses. She’s working on her physical and mental health in tandem. Your self awareness is absolutely inspiring and refreshing. I really wish more people were like you; color coded graphs, triggers, routine, cleaning, etc….knowing your triggers, living spaces, etc. So so very true! I love what you said about choosing to be angry or bitter or sad while not necessarily choosing to be depressed. That’s major! Telling others is when we’re struggling with depression is absolute crucial. Isolation and sedentary activity is awful for depression but we’ve all done it. Your sheer courage to tell your story and be so incredibly honest, genuine and real. Your so calming and I loved hearing your whys, goals, patterns, indicators, etc. You are simply spectacular! I wish there were more people like you! You are an incredible human and you deserve happiness and grace and blessings!!! I’m a Christian and I’ll be praying for you.

Girl that depression talk though. When I don't feel my best, I do my absolute best. That's like a mantra for me. Sometimes I look in the mirror and don't feel like getting the oil out of my hair or washing my face or putting on pants. So I do it anyway and put a little more effort into my outfit or makeup and that alone feels like running an emotional marathon and it only helps me feel a LITTLE better (and a little fatigue). But as long as I'm not feeling worse or stuck, it means I did a good job taking care of myself for the day.

So, I don’t tell this story often (because as was said, weight issues can be embarrassing), but I’ve struggled with weight issues pretty much my entire adult life. I had a serious injury and during recovery I gained massive amounts of weight (I mean I weighed around 200 lbs at 5’2”) and combine that with having large (F size) breasts, I was embarrassed about my body for a really long time. Even though I turn 22 every year, it wasn’t until my 9th or 10th 22nd year that I became anorexic. Anorexia as an adult is extremely rare. Usually by that point you might relapse, but hardly ever do grown adults just “become” anorexic. But I did. At my lowest, I weighed 75 pounds. So believe me when I say that I fully understand complicated issues when it comes to food.
That said, I can’t even begin to tell you how cruel women can be towards other women when you are that thin. The comments I would hear on a regular basis were simply uncalled for. “You’re too skinny, you need to eat more”, “it’s not like one hamburger is going to kill you” or, most commonly “I wish I had your issues with food”. That last one was always the worst one for me, because I simply wouldn’t wish starvation upon anyone! We live in a first world country for crying out loud! Starvation just shouldn’t be an issue, yet, here I was just wishing I never had to eat again (and to be honest, I still wish for that because I truly hate everything about eating). It was so embarrassing for me because of that. People in the world are literally dying because they can’t get enough food, and here I am making a choice not to eat. I hated that entire period of my life and the person I became. Believe me when I say that: being skinny isn’t all it’s advertised as.
Then there were the men of the world (I call them “the Richards”). Their comments were just as nasty- just in different ways. Yes, I would get “hit on”, but they didn’t give 2 craps that I would be out with my boyfriend, and “Richards” would come right up to me at a restaurant (where I’m not ordering anything except a drink) and say things like “you can do better, here’s my number”. I mean....eew, and ugh! I don’t want any of that to come across as “bragging” because it’s not, it made my skin crawl. Did I really need to starve myself in order to get attention from guys? Is that really “the look” most guys are into? I never got hit on like that when I weighed 200 lbs. I used to internalize these things (wrong perhaps, but a hard thing not to do) and blame myself for all of it.
My point in this little story is that I fully understand what weight struggles look like and even though I’m “basically” happy with my weight at this point, I’ve learned over the years not to judge *anyone* for their weight or struggles in life. You simply don’t know what someone has been through. I’ve seen both sides of the spectrum, and in order for me to stop my bad habits and to lose the weight, I literally starved myself. I used to look in the mirror once I did get “skinny” and all I could see were the stretch marks from being fat. People, all people, deserve caring, kindness, and respect in this world. It’s a mantra I repeat to myself regularly throughout the day. It doesn’t matter to me what you look like, it matters who you are.
Thanks to all who have read this far and hopefully I can have inspired you at least a little- as April is in this video. If you have your own mantras in life is love to hear them and make sure to repeat them to yourself regularly, you never know, you might change someone’s life for the better.

Just remember, the word “diet” is Latin for “way of life”, so anytime you start “a new diet”, you’re actually beginning a new “way of life”, and in that sense, every diet you begin is simply a new “journey” you take till you find the path you’re meant to be on.

Thankfully therapy, my spiritual life, meditation, and great support pulled me out after a hypomanic episode that occurred after my depression. I went about a year not having therapy and unmedicated because I thought I didn’t need it. That caused the depression and later hypomania. I now have a good system and understand myself more. I have lost some weight healthily. It’s still a struggle at times but my communication has improved so I can help the people around me understand. I have slowly learned to love myself as well. I lost 16 kg when I was 14 and the biggest thing I learned from this is that being skinny doesn't make you happy.
If you wanna lose weight, go for it but only do it for your physical health and because you LOVE your body - not because you hate it.
The only thing that will make you happy is accepting yourself and your body no matter how it looks and which number is on the scale. First, learn to love and accept yourself at every stage of your life, then start loosing weight if you still want to.

I want to lose more weight so my knees and ankles don't hurt as much when I exercise. I need my exercise for my mental health. I've lost about 8-10lbs from swimming, but I'd like to lose more. I need to work more on my diet too, and cutting out unnecessary sugars and fats.

April. I believe the universe lead me to you. You randomly popped up in my recommended and I am forever thankful. I have never related to someone so much in my life. You explaining at the end about loving yourself and not being the nicest to yourself sometimes is me right now. I almost started to cry and literally just want to give you a hug because I know exactly how you feel and it's such a struggle. But I too have decided enough is enough and I deserve more than this and I deserve love as well. You are such an inspiration and absolutely beautiful! I love your content and honestly. Subscribed and excited to follow your journey!

When I went on the birth control shot I gained 30 pounds in three months! so happy you brought that up because no one talks about how it makes you gradually gain.

I'm on a weight loss journey myself. After having my son almost 2 years ago, life had been tough on my husband and I. He lost his job, we lived with his parents (and you know how awkward that is), and we were both depressed because of how bad things were going for us (In my case, I had reached my heaviest weight in my life!). At my heaviest I was 179. I worked my ass off at the gym. In my case, I was fortunate enough to know about healthy eating because my mom is all about fitness and eating healthy so she raised me that way, so I knew what to do, I just needed to do it! Finally, I decided to just DO IT. I was tired of feeling miserably and unhappy with myself. I needed to act for myself. So far, I went from 179 lbs to 156. I'm so happy. Super proud of myself. It has taken a lot of work but now I like working out. I feel good afterwards. It's not a chore anymore. I feel prettier, sexier and most importantly, I AM HAPPY!
Anyone can do it. We just gotta put in the hard work, the first 2 weeks are the toughest because of the soreness, but once you get passed that, it gets a lot easier.
If you are reading this, you can do it! And I wish you the best. Remember, we gotta work towards becoming our best selfs. Especially in my case, I'm 27 years old, this is the PRIME of my life. I need to become my best self for myself and for my family.
    Good luck guys!

What sort of workout did you follow? Cardio/weights? Every day or only some days?

Why am I crying reading this. I don’t know. I’m so bad. I do start but I never keep up past 2 weeks. Not because of pain but always something. Whether my excitement wears off, you know that initial beginning where you’re revved up. I’m so inconsistent. I was gonna start again. Then Covid. Then o started walking. Then stopped again.
I just want to be consistent. I want to end up proud of myself. I want to be healthy. I get too hot too fast. I get winded too easily. I hate this. How does one stay consistent? Ugh! It’s so frustrating!

I’ve never related to a UA-cam video more in my life. You’re so inspiring and I want to start my journey with you! I was a skinny kid until I hit puberty. I stopped being as active and my diet became horrible. I was slowly continuously gaining weight since then. I’m currently 190. I’m only 19 and 5’2 so thats way too big for my frame. I used to be 220 and then I lost until I was at 163 at 17. However I then found out I was pregnant and gained 30 pounds throughout my pregnancy. I quickly lost that weight a month after having my son. And then once my son was 6 months and started eating baby food, my diet got worse and worse and I wasn’t burning as many calories since he was nursing less, and kept gaining until I reached 190. I’m now trying to lose weight again. My triggers are stressful situations, boredom, and my depression. Which is hard because with Covid 19 I’m usually always bored to some degree, my depression is pretty bad, and my living situation is pretty stressful right now. Your video opened my eyes a lot by how much I relate to you and what causes you to eat more and gain more weight. My go to is also sugary foods/snacks. And I tend to boredom snack throughout the day. You seem like an amazing person and I’m now inspired to get back on that horse and lose weight with you. So thank you

The way you say things, “and then after that happened, wait let me do this exercise” and these are the most intense cliffhangers.

You must be very lucky. Most people I know have had terrible luck with endos for thyroid treatment anyhow, and have to go to GPs instead.
