  • I wander into the forests of Southwest Washington to do some rockhounding. On this trip, I find agates of all shapes and sizes including Washington carnelian agates.
Join along as we walk through more thorns, up waterfalls, and conquer the dense forest.
Filmed near Kalama, Washington on public land.

Rad!!! My husband is working on the castle rock bridge. The other day, he saw something glowing on the bank underneath. I guess the sun was hitting just right because it doesn't glow without light! I'm assuming it's some sort of agate, but when I take a pic and search in my rock hounding app, I keep getting different results every time I either change the angle or shine a light underneath. One time, they said it was amber with a fossilized bug in it...that'd be cool! Lol

@@ThirdPlanetRocks It's not hard. I started shaping Mexican fire opal with emery paper and any small waterstones I could find. Then I used a small felt disk attached to a drill with Tin oxide to polish them. For agate you would need diamond tools, or a lot of time. There are lots of books available that will show you how to do it. One tip: don't buy cheap tools.

3:47 .44 mag or .454 casul better for bears than a spray can, but unless it's a sow with cubs, blackbears usually want less to do with you than you do with them. (Wild bears, not a dump bear or one that gets too comfortable eating dog or cat food off your porch. Them, you should put down) Come across them hunting a decent amount growing up when following deer through blackberry patches. They usually just run off.

Hey Peter - sorry to get back to you late on this. I omitted the location for this one because it’s a tiny spot. It’s not that it’s private or top secret, but I’m trying to avoid my small channel influencing the terrain/geology at these smaller locations.
With that said… I don’t wanna leave you hanging: I found this spot by going on Google maps and looking at creeks crossing over public roads. Then I checked a few out and found an access point to the waterway on public property.
There’s a ton of creeks surrounding Kalama/Longview. I guarantee there’s way cooler stuff than what I pulled out of this one.
