wow i just noticed that man
I love watching Danny play. He seems to enjoy it so much; every time I see him, he has a smile on his face. A man truly doing what he loves
Just watched them all a couple of weeks ago. They each are in such a zone it's hard to give each one proper praise. Watching Adam play songs I've been waiting to see, along with Justin's new riffs blowing your mind in person. Glad I got to show this world to someone that didn't expect it. Their life was changed.
@@justindeering4384 that happened when I took my now wife to see them in 06. Loved it, and had to go again in 07. When I used to go see 'em live, I never gave the time to Danny. Or, I was so into everything that was going on, from the floor, it's hard to see him from behind his massive kit...
Number 26? Nah man, he's number 1, best drummer of all time. Love this guy!
What's funny is the announcer messed up and said "Rolling stone's 26th drummer of all time"
Second only to Neil Peart, Roger Taylor, Ian Paice...
@@Hellwyck ... Karen Carpenter
I'd comfortably put him top 15, no question
yawn fangirl
Man it's just so wonderful to get on here and see something that everybody likes from time to time! How could you not like this? Such a wonderful talent. That really warms my heart I needed that.
I think this is the first big band version of Fire I've heard and I loved it.
Makes you appreciate Mitch's playing and Danny's humility
Dudes just out there having a great time - watching hoops and trying his best to not tear someone else's kit to smithereens. Just look at that smile!
I'm sure he'd donate a big new kit to them. 😄
I would be honored to have Danny utterly annihilate my kit.
Danny Carey is that typ of guy who would play in your garage band for some songs just because he's going thru his neighborhood.
He does this sort of thing a lot! He loves to surprise bands with sit ins!
The most amazing part of this performance, and I love Danny Carey, is the guy playing a clarinet through a hole in his mask behind him. Just astounding.
@@twenty4dupont all that is insane is that you make your daughter do that. You are a horrible parent.
@@twenty4dupont This is child abuse what is wrong with you !?!
What a legend. Just an all around gem.
It’s so weird to see him not on his massive drum set. I didn’t know they detached. Lol. Love Danny. One of my favorite drummers of all time
appears he's playing on the school equipment probably impromptu (not sure on that)
Yeah, that drum set looks adorable with him at it. Especially when he has such glee in what he's doing with it!
I’ve gotten to see him play on a similar set up to this at the Baked Potato a bunch of times. It’s amazing how it doesn’t seem to affect him at all. Dude will play on anything and still sound like him.
This guy is a really good drummer. He should be in a band.
*GONG*
@Bradley Mitchell Be happier.
@@mickeypigknuckles well said good sir
He is the band
Keep an eye on this one. He's gonna make it big one day.
It appears that this fella has a bright future in drumming, just keep practicing.
🤣😆😃
The unbridled joy on his face at the end is priceless!
That giggle at the end made my day!! Rock on, rockstar. Well done.
Danny being ranked the 26th best drummer of all time is almost as comical the kid playing clarinet through a mask. He is top 5 all day.
Totally agree. 26th best drummer?! Lol 🤬 Top 5 , at least. Danny the best! Cheers
Top five how? He’s very good at what he does, but anyone who thinks he’s top five probably just hasn’t heard that many drummers.
@@Barrybeastmode you have to be joking. Danny carey is the best drummer of our time. And possibly of all time. His technical skill has never been matched and never will be.
@@markymark5352 Danny isnt gonna read your comment, get off his balls..
Just noticed that kid. Lol
He has some amazing control. Mitch Mitchell was such an underrated drummer.
Fire is one song that Mitch out played Jimi.
@@birdley9577 ez now
There’s that stupid “underrated” comment again.
@@birdley9577Manic Depression too
I love this guy and his talent. I am pretty much sure that only 1% know who he is and how much they were graced with his talent. Such a cool moment!
Like a kid in a candy store. Beautiful !
I feel like rating him 26th best drummer is a travesty.
That list is bullshit. Meg White is ranked above Travis Barker, for instance.
@@rossmcclellan4520 Hey now... She can play in 4/4. Don't discount that. /s
@@rossmcclellan4520 Thanks, I needed a good laugh today.

It's a Rolling Stone list. Their "writers" are simple farmers. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons /Gene Wilder (Blazing Saddles)
Rolling Stone magazine don't know what the fuck they're talking about
Watched four (4) times in a row… still going. Fantastic Danny!
That's a musician right there. Playing with the University band! Way to go, Danny!
He even makes a dinky little school kit sound massive, and he's clearly having a blast. Love that dude.
Thing is, Hendrix's drummer was so underrated because of Jimi being so huge. Mitch Mitchell was awesome.
Absolutely!
lol Mitch Mitchell was listed as number 8th greatest drummer of all time on the Rolling Stone top 100...he was not underrated at all...:D
Is is...
What thing?
🤣
I don't think I've ever seen him look like he's enjoying himself this much while playing. Its very wholesome
Whether these kids in the band know it or not, they just unlocked a lifetime achievement 🤘💀🤘
Holy shit dude’s got swing! This is like the opposite of Tool and he’s crushing it. Sign of a true professional.
Watching Carey play this reminds me of how good those 60s British drummers were. Mitchell, Moon, Bonham, Baker all legends and deservidly so. And, sadly, all gone
The look on his face at the end is a window into his beautiful soul
Besides being one of the greatest drummers of all time, he's such a nice guy!
Ran into him at Gelsons in Hollywood. Most down to earth normal guy you’d ever meet. True gentleman and one massive Viking of a man!
He had so much fun there,😊 How humble.
Danny is now the greatest living percussionist since the Professor passed on. Couldn't dream of a nicer guy to take up the space Peart left.
Word!
My Fav!
Thats what I was just thinking. Two super guys.
only because Bill Bruford retired
Guess you've never heard Donati
i gave my 8 yr old a snare for xmas2021 ,
then showed him dozens of utube vids of rush, sully and s larkin drum duo, tool, and even them bucket street guys. oh ya im born and raised in ks , Danny C is our claim to metal fame!
That fill at 1:10 is immaculate. Also the invisible crash cymbal he goes to hit at 1:19 is pretty funny
It's cool, but I prefer Mitch Mitchell's original fills on this song - they had more groove. Danny was close though.
Dawg this was just a pep band performance for the KU pep band it wasn’t supposed to be Dannys best performance lol
@@jacobthomas9365 go and listen to the original version 😊
@@RoccoHernandez87
I've heard the original version hundreds of times, dude - I grew up listening to classic rock and Jimi is my favorite guitarist. The Chili Peppers did a good version of the song as well.
Wasn't an invisible or missed crash, he just hit the crash near the bell with the tip of the stick, you can hear it very clearly
He’s playing behind the beat, perfectly, but he’s so tight and talented that the band can’t keep up with his precision. They’re behind him!
It's very hard for marching bands like these to play swingingly (which is ironic since swing music is what we associate big bands with, normally)
"Not quite my tempo"
I see what you mean. That’s a lot of instruments, and a player’s relationship to the beat is almost like a fingerprint. No two are alike. I think Joe Bonamassa is a great guitarist, but he plays too tight to the beat for my taste. Compare him to Stevie Ray Vaughan’s rubbery groove.
@@noahliberman3247 bingo....you just eloquently stated what i try to explain to people why im not into the Bonamassas of this world. I can sit and listen to him jam on yt and appreciate his skill but once the full band comes in it loses its soul. For me anyway.
Great comment Noah...at one point in the "breakdowns" he drags a snare roll with his left hand that starts out in 32's retards into 16th's...incredible move and it let the rest of the band catch up...love Danny Carey BIG TIME...
Finally. Seeing Danny Carey playing zildjian cymbals on a drum set... Never thought I'd see the day or get to check that one off the list
Kid has to play his clarinet through a mask wtf and Danny is just there smiling. What weird times we live in
So glad I’m not the only one that noticed that absolute absurdity. Pure theatre
These are special masks that were designed for that though
People somehow are still going along with the dust mask ritual. I wish men would grow some balls, stop watching p0rn and stop complying to this utter nonsense show.
@@slow-mo_moonbuggy 100000000000000% you get it !!
I thought the same thing.
He looks so uncomfortable on this drum kit but still got the job done in great fashion. What a talent!
Drum kit looks a little too small for him. He seems like a big dude.
