I wish we'd had more episodes with K'ehleyr. She was a great guest character.
Yes and throw in Q to boot
Yea she was - possibly the best. Q
I know what it is - she is probably the only female that played a strong female personality with out it feeling forced or over done.
Worf has plenty of strong feelings. If he didn't, he would never have mated with her. But Worf understands that feelings do not override responsibility. "Honor" isn't just some useless nonsense to him; it's about doing the right thing. And he was right. Because she refused to be his wife, their son was raised without his father.
fatherless children are considered a healthy outcome in these our modern times
@@vsync but they're not healthy. At all.

@@vsync the hell are you going on about?
Great transition of Kaylar’s voice into the meeting scene.
I love how she trolls Worf. She really knows how to push his buttons!
Poor Data getting roped into the middle.
Well, that third pip on his collar comes with more complex responsibilities.
I think Picard should have assigned Troi to keep them on track and off of each other's throats. (In fact, I am kind of disappointed Picard didn't realize Data was a poor choice to work with them).
Or, maybe someone else who was good at tactical analysis and could use experience with conflict management.
@TheNoiseySpectator Data was assigned to this detail instead of Troi because he is essentially invulnerable to any physical damage those two lovers could inflict on him if he happened to get in the way of a "spat." Troi is not.
Damn that is one seductive Klingon , Kaylar of course.
I'm no less perplexed than Data.
This was supposed to be an enlightened future. They would make arrangements for married officers.
She didn't wanna marry him. That was the main issue. He didn't want to do the wrist sniffing sex stuff unless they were married. She wanted to date him or just Co parent. He didn't want that. Especially because, whether or not either wanted to admit it, they both loved each other.
Thanks for uploading! I was looking for this when I came across the German word "Anstandswauwau" (which literally says "etiquette dog") which can be translated into chaperone.
Wauwau is dog? Pretty appropiate! Wauwau wauwau
@@darkcoeficient Wauwau is dog in German children's language. In proper German, a dog is called "Hund".
@@chrisko6439 now it makes perfect sense! Hahahahaha

Kaylar (Suzie Plakson) is good looking in or out of her character makeup.
Had to feel for data, was helping worf only to be caught up in a personal matter.
Worf and K’Ehleyr were such a lovely couple.
Riker standing up looks kind of weird. Almost a blooper, maybe? Also Data seems to have had enough with living beings and chose to stay on the bridge alone
The actor portraying Riker has some back problems, that's one of the reasons why he sits the way that he does, it's entirely possible he agitated his spinal issue when he stood up in this scene.
@@HotWheels_OW that's the feeling it gave me, that he hurt himself. You can almost see hesitation before he stands up, as if he realised the pain was going to hit, and that's a dread I've seen many times amongst people with cronic pains
@@HotWheels_OWthe uniforms (especially during the early seasons) were horrendous to wear.
In Jonathan Frakes case, they gave him back problems.
Though most of the cast was similarly affected
The back problem thing is a fan theory that Frakes himself has debunked. He does not have back problems, however he chose to play Riker with a physicality that a lot of people recognised as the mannerisms of someone with back problems due to height.
In this particular scene, the sequence of actions is:
- push back from table
- wait for Picard to speak
- stand up in response to cue from Picard
... you can call that a blooper if you want, because he was 1.5 seconds early for a cue, but this was a meeting, not a choreographed fight scene, if you think about it, perfectly synchronised movements is rather stranger than momentary hesitations and aborted actions.
316 by 42. So to the left and upward.
"K'ehleyr", not "Kaylar"
When a decent amount of honor is treated like extremism, ... that is my experience. Hard to compromise there, and if you try, life slaps you for disregarding your honor.
Our world affairs are marked by an extreme lack of honor. But lots of pretend-play.
'.. I fail to see how 'chaperone' is applicable to this situation..' just as well. Don't go there Data..
Well I see that you're not at warp so there's no need to get there as fast as possible
Star Trek's biggest flaw was the failure to make the Klingons believable. How could they be dumb warriors but also have high tech ships? And before anyone answers, "it's in the novels", they don't count. The series should have answered this question, and it never does.
Who said they were _dumb?_ I never got that impression. The fact their culture has the values it does says nothing about their intelligence.
They advanced to a point where they were so strong they no longer needed to progress
@@bigbobbacharcoal they were invaded and took the invaders tech. there are klingon scientists, bridge builders etc
There's a very simple answer to your question:
It was in the script that way.
I do see what you mean. We rarely saw Klingons who were anything other than warriors. The engineers, navigators etc didn't seem all that interested in their roles, at least I didn't think so. Then you wonder who does the maintenance, the cleaning, not just on their ships but in their society, who does the jobs that don't attract great honour or joie de vivre?
1:44 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"I will not become your wife"
"Is honor all you care about? Don't you FEEL anything else?"
K'ehleyr giving seriously mixed signals. Women always want men to act a certain way, but wont say what they want outright out of paranoia that men who act in that manner afterwards are just doing it to get laid.
Worf should really have asked HER "What do you want??".
Less than forthright conduct.
volume too low
Meh, I never liked K'ehleyr. She doesn't want to marry him hear, but then randomly comes back with an adolescent boy and wants to marry him. Never mind he was essentially denied fatherhood of his own child for 8 or so years and she walked out on him. Nope, I randomly come back. Marry me, deadbeat dad. I would have told her to go to hell too.
Dude it’s a lot more complex than that
Worf is hardly a deadbeat. K'Ehleyr deliberately until her conscience got the better of her and literally sprung Alexander on him and her disdain for Klingon values, intended or not set Alexander up for failure with his father and himself later in life. His Discommendation also didn't do him and wouldn't do Alexander any favors.
Worf would not have went for the "find his own ways" in the same way K"Ehleyr did if at all had he been in his life from the beginning. He would insist, even force Alexander to go through at least the training of and ultimately the Rite of Ascension as Worf himself did when he was his age.
If he wanted to follow his own path AFTER that and specialize elsewhere that would be his choice but he would definitely insist he go through the training and ascension to being a warrior at least in the eyes of Klingon society knowing whilst other paths are honorable, they will never be as valued as being a warrior is.
From Worf's point of view their House and family has had more than enough controversy at it was and the least atypical Alexander is, the least harm he wouldl endure throughout his life. Martok himself admitted the last thing a parent, Klingon or otherwise wants to see is harm come to their children..
@teleportedbreadfor3days475 It's really not. This entire arc is only 2 episodes.
@@chrismc410 That's why K'ehleyr sucks.
Women are so complicated
