The late 90's early 00's period for British comedy were some of the most creative ever that I don't think we've ever topped. "Oh, Brian. You came." "No, I just...spilt my drink." So many quotable lines from this show. I bought the dvd set years ago and I'd watch it religiously. Definitely one of my "comfort" TV shows.
This series was HUGE in my life - I think it may even have saved my sanity during a very f'd up period of my life. A perfect comedy made by a group of mates having a good time. Ahh I remember it well (looks up into the sky and ponders)...❤
Great selection of clips, although my favourite one-liner was Mike bragging about his gun: "That, my friend, will mash up through the engine block of a Fiat Uno, no problem."
Nothing will ever surpass the brilliance of the writing and acting in this series. I still love it to this day, and like others, often quote my favourite lines.
This aired _very_ late on the Australian Broadcast Corporation (our version of the BBC) and I just stumbed across it and it was _revelatory._ I was just almost exactly in the same time of my life as the characters and it resonated so strongly.
Channel 4 running a marathon of Spaced during Lockdown and Edgar Wright taking to Twitter while it was airing to post original scripts and to talk about all the stuff they got up to in the making of Spaced was one of my favourite memories of that particular time.
Thank you for making SPACED!! The best modern comedy (if you can class 25 years ago as modern), really though it was brilliant from start to finish and left everyone wanting more because it was so good. I love it when you find people that haven't seen it because when they watch it for the first time they are blown away by how funny and creative it is! Top class A*
This came out when i started uni, but became religious watching log beyond that. when i moved to london it was like i'd been looking into the future by watching it. the whole circling Loot, psychic house hunters and night out in camden are literally pitch perfect. and then the cinemetography and editing are just *chef kiss* easily one of my favorite shows of all time.
Wow can't believe it's been 25 years such a great series, such great writing it's still funny now. Love the bit with cyclist is so funny. When Simon peggs like 'alright!' and they then proceed to run over her bike.
@@AustinStephan The entire pilot got leaked back in the 2010's and was on here. Seems like it's missing from UA-cam now but there are some clips floating around. Maybe it got struck for "embarrassment".
I had honestly forgot how hilarious and off the wall this comedy was ..... laugh out loud stuff, and you can't say that about much comedy programs on TV today.
So I did not grow up with this show, but having seen the Cornetto Trilogy it is awesome to see all the winks and nods Sean of the Dead made to this show.
It has been 25 years of Spaced with their iconic quotes on Channel 4. Tim: You wanna piece of me? Come get some! Daisy: I cannot believe I said girl power! Brian: Anger, pain, fear, aggression Mike: WHY?!!! Marsha: She’s not a teenager, she’s the devil in an A-cup! Twist: Oh, and have sex! That’s all you want to do, I’m not just here for one thing!
how about an attempt at an upscale for blu ray? know it's probably fimed on video tape but it would be good to see an improved version of some kind. The dvd versions have not aged well
Still the finest “sitcom”/TV series/show ever made and the finest work Simon & Co. Has ever done - which is very high praise indeed given the body of work, including Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz to name but a couple of absolute gems. I’ve watched spaced so many times over the years and I love it every time. Think I might dig out the 2 special edition DVDs and have another rewatch. “Babylon 5 is a big pile of shit”

They kinda did actually, but only in one of the collector’s edition DVD extras. Tim and Daisy make a final appearance at the end of a making of featurette when Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes go to visit the house where Spaced was shot. The actors don’t meet the characters, but you do briefly see the characters and what life is like for them a few years on.
I love spaced, and I love the cornetto trilogy. Nothing against Simon Pegg, he seems like a good guy, but it did make me laugh how someone who made a career from complaining about the SW prequels had the cheek to have a go about anyone who complained about the sequel trilogy. Bit hypocritical

Yep, same here. I have it in meme form for WhatsApp etc as well.
Why are Channel4 holding Simon Pegg hostage?
They can at least get him some water.
and in such a cold room !
Well, he has very thin wrists and can't break free until Tom Cruise halo jumps in to rescue him.
No release until a third series is agreed. That's what they said anyway
@@mechanicaldavid4827unfortunately he will force him to join Scientology and no one wants that

A great time to be a young British comedy fan
And don’t forget Green Wing - another C4 genius series 👍
The clubbing episode of Spaced is absolute genius.
they used to repeat Spaced at 2am and I watched it getting in from a club 😂
Best, most realistic depiction of raving ever! - better than 24 Hour Party People (I will die on this hill)
@@jimherbert007 You used to go clubbing and get home for 2AM?
Tyre’s raving to that telephone used to crack me up 😂 25 years ago, Lordy! 😁🙏
Loved the part where he is raving at the traffic lights as well, thought that scene would have been included here
There's a musician called Venjent who has a couple songs "Open the door" and "Calling for you" which is basically Tyre's whole shtick.
It still cracks me up today!
"Oh, Brian. You came."
"No, I just...spilt my drink."
So many quotable lines from this show. I bought the dvd set years ago and I'd watch it religiously. Definitely one of my "comfort" TV shows.
Me and some friends still randomly quote them to this day. Most people haven't got a clue what we're on about. Love it.
Frost's delivery of "You can't drink a pint of Bovril" always elicits a chuckle.
It has “why’d they bite you” feels:)

While I probably haven't watched Spaced in what feels like about 15yrs, it seems I still remember it practically word for word.
My favourite is, "Im sure i can resist its charms till then"..... Pop. whaayyy
That's my favourite too. Such a delightfully small and silly little throw-in joke, so tiny it's easy to miss, but utterly brilliant.
Breaks my heart that this was so good and it could only have been that good at that time - which means it cannot happen again.
Mike dancing in the club to the A-Team theme always made me chuckle. Along with his ink blot test to get back in the TA.
“Butterfly with a bomb”
One of the best sitcoms ever made.
Great selection of clips, although my favourite one-liner was Mike bragging about his gun: "That, my friend, will mash up through the engine block of a Fiat Uno, no problem."
Can't believe it was 25 years ago, I was in college and I loved this program. Gotta have a rewatch weekend sesh.
"I had to dress up as an elderly Israeli woman once."
"Did you?"
"Didn't _have_ to."
"Oh My God!"
"What?"
" . . . I've got some fucking Jaffa Cakes in my coat pocket!"
Love it
I was crying at that 😂😂
I still celebrate with “Aaaaaye!! Ooo mama ooo daddy, let’s all play kabaddi!!”
Still makes me crack up
