I've been casually - on and off - playing Sc1 for more than 20 years now - and jeez, are videos like this one - informative. When Artosis is playing, he isn't providing half as much info - just because it's impossible (and yeah I've tried even at my level). Watching him comment, esp. when one side is playing T, is a goldmine. Thanks for the video, greetings from Latvia.

I mentioned in the game Scan lost to spire I think playing hydra lurker defiler that it seems like he's improved a lot, I noticed that one of his seeming weaknesses is clumping tanks and sieging them all in a mass and he did very well this game particularly with that, Ruin did very well getting the most value out of everything and if Scan's tanks were more clumped it might have made a difference, that's just one thing but on everything it seems like Scan has vastly improved, in all the games I've seen of his lately he's been impressive.

yeah, range bunker to hold off goons is a luxury
IMO the marines shouldn't be thrown away but instead used in bunkers for base defense / contains
It’s strong if they don’t know it’s coming // don’t have a reaver. If they know or have a reaver handy, you lose.

They tried bio plays historically. Reaver and storm are such hard counters they are instant wins. Try something similar to Scan's build on ladder and the second your opponent scouts it they can do something as simple as put down a forge and cannons and turtle until they get a reaver out. I've had some opponents sac the natural and hold the top of their ramp with dragoon shield battery until a reaver came out.
I also suggest you try the mechanics of casting optic flare vs the computer... it's ridiculously hard. Medics are tiny units and there is no smart casting. Liquipedia has some of the only games in history where it worked at a high level, most of them are 2010 era, and the strategy seems to be blinding detectors.
Conceptually, bio vs pure gateway zealot stalker protoss is about even in cost-effectiveness. The problem is that protoss can naturally segue into templars in any kind of even macro game vs bio. So a bio play has to kill the natural quickly and take an economic lead. Denying the second gas is a huge, long term problem for Protoss.
@@sursurrus the optic flare idea was just because its right there in the academy and 75 energy. Blinding any shuttle would be very useful. Early acad with mnm means 2 scans to have an idea what they are doing, don't have to get blind if its not going to be useful, can cancel the upgrade.
Another thing that is good is more bunkers than usual. Or a dropship follow up to get workers as they melt workers. In one game on desti i planned and committed to a strategy where i do mnm plus 1 scv drop in main and block ramp (build depot). Even floated an ebay and landed it there to make sure. But i'm low level and its hard to keep up mechanics. Desti just happened to be a good map to defend in TvP. They still recover so quickly in eco.
I don't think a midgame army of MnM works properly without a defensive posture/bunkers but if nobody REALLY tries to get into it and actually commits (double ebay and ups) then it always looks weak against midgame gateway and templars/reaver. Scan did a nice switch but i don't believe its the only option depending on how committed the T is.
Have to keep in mind bio doesn't mean you can't have 2facs for fac units - tanks/vults with mines useful with no ups. I seem to remember a HiyA game where he went 6rax and used EMP at some point against templar :)

After that terrible shuttle control at the start Ruin really made up for it with those drops right on the tanks. Maybe that cheesy marine push had him shaken?

why don't you ever see maxed out armies fight in sc1? sc2 viewer here
There’s a lot going on in SC1, and it takes longer to max out.
You see maxing out often times in PvT (takes Protoss ~12 minutes normally to max vs Protoss), but in most matchups there’s so much action by 150 supply that you oftentimes won’t max
Economy takes longer to ramp up, restricting the resources you can spend into both army and eco. Frequent skirmishes in the early and mid game keeps supply low too.
And the obvious one, the unit limit selection disincentivizes wasting time getting a very large army that you eventually can't use to the full potential. Even with 500 APM, it's gotta be a bitch to control 140 army supply.
@@Leonhart_93 Good point, once you start needing more than 5 control groups, its less micro and more "A-move in their general direction"

How many times in this game did Artosis say "Scan can't attack right now, he needs to macro up until he has critical mass", only for Scan to immediately attack 15 seconds later? Artosis' weakness as a player impacting his commentary :)

My only complaint: You’re a little ‘zoom out’ happy…. too zoomed out for too much of the game. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very useful- in moderation.
But watching on a smartphone, everything’s so teeny-tiny always that it’s kinda hard to enjoy. Either zoom out a little less far, or alternate between way zoomed and not so zoomed.
PS- Props to Scan on a monster of a game. 👌

Yeah it bothered me too.. was Scan cutting workers? Scan pushed nat successfully but i think because Ruin saved all workers he stayed equal in eco. Check supply right after Scan's nice push, weird!
@@infinityesq.4226 Yeah... He cut about 4 workers to get faster barracks and academy, so that he could have stim and range in time to actually do damage. If he makes workers and waits look at that reaver it would be in position and he instantly loses. It was smart of him because you can't usually win at all going bio.
Yeah It's a hard Mu man.... It's not as broken as PvZ but it's hard to play as Terran. Toss deff can just move out with goon zealot, where as Terran needs to siege and plant mines and also make sure toss can't backstab. I play Toss and Terran and I just lost to a noob UNDER 100 APM. I got 2-1 and moved out but only left a couple units to defend and he just back stabs and then ofc he has 4 bases to my 3, so I can't really base trade... And I end up losing to a noob somehow.

Idk why Ruin kept making reavers here, he should've switched to Arbiter or Templar (or even Carriers) a long time before the game ended... zealot/goon/reaver isn't going to beat upgraded mech

Reavers are the most ret4rd3d units. Put two of them in a drop ship, and you can reverse any situation.
